George Shaw draws his subject matter from the Tile Hill estate, near<br />
Coventry, where he grew up.<br />
Working from an archive of photographs he took of the estate, Shaw<br />
constantly revisits the scenes of his adolescence.<br />
Twelve <strong>Short</strong> <strong>Walks</strong> is like a storyboard with a biographical background.<br />
He made small size drawings and transferred them onto acetate <strong>sheet</strong>s.<br />
Shaw believes the uncanny mood emanating from the resulting images is<br />
due to the workings of the unknown in the ribbon of neglected woodland<br />
edging the estate. Twelve <strong>Short</strong> <strong>Walks</strong> is a series of moments, rather than<br />
a single moment in time.
