Technological University (NTU), Singapore, to transform

its teaching approach from rote learning to a versatile,

student-led active learning model that prioritizes

major academic shift, now being implemented under G-

SCALE (Galgotias Student-Centered Active Learning

Ecosystem).


Now in its first year of implementation, the transformation is

visible across campus. Classrooms have been completely

redesigned to remove fixed benches, making way for

flexible, modular setups tailored for group discussion, peer

instruction, and active participation making it acampuswide

evolution, aligned with global best practices and

India's NEP 2020 vision.

well beyond academic instruction. Under Dr. Dhruv's

guidance, the campus has developed a thriving ecosystem

of student clubs, cultural festivals, sports, and events such

Er. Koneru Satyanarayana, Chancellor of KL Deemed to

be University, is a distinguished educationist and visionary

entrepreneur with more than four decades of leadership in

higher education. His forward-looking approach has

transformed the University into one of India’s most

admired institutions, recognized for academic excellence,

innovation, and global relevance.

From its inception in Vijayawada, the University has grown

into a vibrant multi-campus institution under his guidance,

nowencompassing KLH Aziz Nagar, KLH Bachupally, and

KLH Global Business School (GBS) in Hyderabad. KL

Deemed to be University today offers a wide spectrum of

disciplines, including Engineering, Management, Law,

Introduction

In the developing landscape of Indian higher education, Dr.

Dipankar Sarkar has emerged as a distinctive voice and

agent of change in technical education. Serving as the

Principal of Dream Institute of Technology (DIT) since

2007, he has led the institution from a modest campus in

South 24 Parganas to a nationally recognised hub of

innovation, access, and academic excellence. This

narrative traces his contributions under the thematic pillars

of Voices, Vision, and Victory, and reflects the initiatives

that define transformative leadership in the context of selffinanced

technical institutions.

Voices: Reimagining the Purpose of

Technical Education

Dr. Sarkar began his career with an unwavering

commitment to educational equity. An alumnus of IIT Delhi,

he could have pursued global opportunities but chose

instead to return to grassroots India to address the

disparities in access to STEM education. When he took

charge of Dream Institute of Technology in 2007, he

prioritised building an inclusive institutional culture over

infrastructure expansion.

He consistently advocated that “students are not our

customers; they are our responsibility.” This philosophy

reshaped DIT’s institutional framework. He introduced

remedial learning programs, bridge courses, and facultyled

mentoring cells to support students, particularly those

from rural and first-generation backgrounds. He also

institutionalised gender sensitivity mechanisms, including

grievance cells and workplace safety standards, resulting

in a 5-star Safe Campus rating from AIRCL in 2020.

Dr. Sarkar positioned himself not only as an administrator

but as an accessible academic leader, maintaining an

open-door policy and personally intervening in matters of

student welfare. He maintained that academic failure

should be treated not as an individual issue, but as an

institutional gap to be addressed. Under his guidance, DIT

became an area where student voices were recognised as

central to governance, curriculum, and assessment

reforms.

Vision: Strategic Transformation and

Alignment with National Priorities

With a long-term institutional vision, Dr. Sarkar led DIT

through a comprehensive transformation in teaching,

learning, and governance, aligning closely with India’s

educational policy reforms.

In 2010, he pioneered the implementation of Outcome-

Based Education (OBE) across departments, long before

its mandatory rollout. He further led the development of the

DIT Knowledge Lab, a fully functional Moodle-based

Learning Management System that enabled real-time

content delivery, evaluation, and course outcome

mapping. This platform proved realistic in

Anticipating the rise of innovation-driven education, he

secured a ₹65 lakh DST grant in 2012 to establish an

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre

(IEDC). The centre enabled students to start up, prototype

development, interdisciplinary research, and patent filing.

By 2024, DIT had facilitated over 20 patents, many of

which were filed by undergraduate teams.

Dr. Sarkar also forged strategic partnerships with Texas

Instruments, IIT Virtual Labs, and industry bodies like

IEEE, CSI, and IET. These collaborations were

operationalised through faculty development programs,

internships, industry lectures, and research opportunities,

thereby institutionalising the industry-academia bridge.

He introduced the MATLAB Campus Agreement as part

of a strategic software expansion initiative, making

Dream Institute of Technology the only private

engineering college in West Bengal to be fully funded

for establishing a dedicated MATLAB Lab. This facility

gave students access to a world-class computing

environment for real-time simulations and modelling,

particularly in electronics, signal processing, and control

systems. It positioned DIT as a serious contender in

innovation-driven pedagogy.

Further strengthening the bridge between academia

and industry, Dr Sarkar led DIT to become the first

institute in West Bengal to align with EduSkills, a nonprofit

committed to building India’s Industry 4.0-ready

digital workforce. Through this partnership, students and

faculty gained access to corporate-level curriculum, virtual

internships, and certifications through strategic

collaborations with global technology leaders, including

Juniper Networks, Palo Alto, Celonis, Amazon, Blue


Prism, UiPath, Cisco, Bentley, Microchip, etc. This

initiative created direct industry exposure for students and

added real-world value to classroom instruction.

He took an active role in aligning DIT with the National

Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting interdisciplinary

credit models, hybrid classrooms, and digital-first

pedagogy. His leadership ensured DIT's reputation as an

early adopter of NEP-aligned practices in West Bengal.

members have either completed or are currently pursuing

their PhDs. He believes in leading by example,

institutional support for academic publishing, patent filing,

consistent placement records, alumni entrepreneurship,

and representation in global graduate programs. Many

students from low-income or vernacular-medium

backgrounds went on to lead engineering teams, co-found

start-ups, and pursue funded doctoral research.

Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee is the Co-founder and Vice-

university, it has been recognized as the topmost

educational institute in North-India in the Institution's

Innovation Council rankings by the Ministry of Education,

Govt. of India, for the years 2021 and 2022.

Dr. Chatterjee completed his Ph.D. from the National

Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala, specializing in

Nano-Science and Nano-Technology. His research

interests extend to Computer Vision and Speech

Processing, and he has made significant contributions to

the field of Applied Robotics. Back in 2005, he played a

pivotal role in introducing Applied Robotics among

graduate students when the field was still in its early

stages.


With 23 SCI International Journals research papers to his

credit, Dr. Chatterjee is a member of esteemed

organizations such as Confederation of Indian Industry

(CII), Computer Society of India (CSI), and IEEE. He has

served on the Academic Council and Governing Board of

various universities. Before earning his Ph.D., he

completed his B.Tech. from Kalyani University and

M.Tech. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Dr. Chatterjee

engaged in collaborative research with the National

University of Singapore (NUS), contributing to the

development of robotic platforms.

In his administrative role, Dr. Chatterjee has implemented

the Choice Based Credit System in the university syllabus,

introduced the School of Management, and initiated

courses in cross-cultural disciplines like Bachelor of

Physiotherapy (BPT). He is actively involved in diverse

ventures, including establishing a hospital on the

university campus, constructing new facilities like

auditoriums and seminar halls, and developing industrystandard

workshops for mechanical and electrical training.

Under his leadership, students are encouraged to

undertake industry-standard projects, fostering a culture of

innovation. Dr. Chatterjee has organized numerous

conferences and workshops both in India and abroad,

facilitating global collaboration among professors and

academicians. He actively promotes interactions between

industry personnel and academicians, bridging the gap

between industry and academia.

Furthermore, Dr. Chatterjee is a recognized speaker in QS

(world ranking) India Academic Summit, and he engages

in various media channels and prestigious platforms to

share his insights on academics. His contributions extend

beyond academia as he has received awards from the

Govt. of Rajasthan for generating employment in the state,

as well as recognition from the "Institution of Engineers" for

his Engineering Services to Society. He is also

acknowledged by private organizations for his

entrepreneurial efforts and research in Artificial

Intelligence.

Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, founder of the Anurag Group

and Anurag University, has been a key figure in building

the educational landscape of Telangana and the erstwhile

united Andhra Pradesh for more than two decades.

He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Osmania

University and began his career as a faculty member. In

1998, Dr. Reddy established the Anurag Group with a few

undergraduate and postgraduate programs in basic

sciences and humanities. Under his dynamic leadership,

the institution soon expanded to include engineering,

pharmacy, and management programs, growing into a

multidisciplinary university of national repute.

Today, Anurag University provides quality education to

thousands of students every year, and over 35,000

students have benefited from Dr. Reddy's vision and

commitment to excellence. His focus has always been on

meeting the needs of students and equipping them for

success.

In 2014, Dr. Reddy entered public service to contribute to

society on a larger scale. He is currently serving his as

Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) -Jangaon, in
