Foreword Chairman of Wervingsdagen

SET SAIL ON THE OCEAN OF OPPORTUNITIES

It is time to hoist your sails and set off along your

career path on the ocean of opportunities.

Welcome to the Wervingsdagen Skill Sessions

2025, an event designed to teach you the

essential skills needed to apply your technical

knowledge efficiently.

The world around us seems so large yet so crowded. It can feel

difficult to imagine the required skills to pursue your interests and land a

dream job. I, like many others, certainly still feel this way. After all, what’s

the point of having so much knowledge if you cannot use it!

The Skill Sessions provide an excellent opportunity to not only learn these helpful skills, but to

show why they are useful for furthering your career. Over 50 free, professional workshops

are available for you to choose from. Whether it’s mastering ExCel, managing your stress

levels, writing perfect CVs, negotiating your salary or improving your public speaking, there

is something fun and useful for everyone.

The Skill Sessions are just the beginning of your journey at sea. From March 3rd to 4th

2026, Wervingsdagen will host the Career Expo, where you can discover over 180

companies who are eager to hear your questions and interests. It is the largest technological

career fair in the Netherlands, making it a prime opportunity to see which companies and

career paths are to your liking.

From the 11th-13th May 2026, the Interviewing Days will take place. This event is the ideal

place to learn what companies can offer you. The skills gained from the Skill Sessions will

immediately prove themselves worthy and show companies what sets you apart from the rest!

My biggest advice would be not to waste these opportunities, but also to not do things you

neither enjoy nor feel ready for. Subscribe to the workshops that fit you best. Everyone has

places to grow, and I am confident that following workshops during the Skill Sessions will

help you sail smoother along your career path.

Thank you for joining us on a career adventure across the ocean of opportunities!

Foreword Rector Magnificus

DIVE INTO THIS OCEAN OF OPPORTUNITIES

Welcome to the Skill Sessions of the

Wervingsdagen 2025! This week, as the

theme already suggests, you will dive

into an Ocean of Opportunities.

Through inspiring workshops and lectures, you

will work on both your personal and professional

development. Of course, practical topics such as the

application letter, the resume, and the job interview will

be covered, but there is so much more to explore. You are

laying a solid foundation to approach your future career with

confidence.

Keep in mind that your dream job may be closer than you think. The Brainport Region – the

innovative and fastest-growing region of the Netherlands, surrounding Eindhoven and TU

Eindhoven – is eager to welcome smart, ambitious talent. In other words: they are looking

for you!

The companies and organizations in this region can greatly benefit from your knowledge,

your experience, and your fresh ideas. You already carry a backpack filled with valuable

skills that will take you far. Trust in what you have to offer and don’t be afraid to take new

steps. It may take some time to discover the right direction, but eventually, you will find the

destination that truly fits you. Allow yourself the time to explore your path.

A special word of thanks goes to the organizers. Thanks to their dedication,

Wervingsdagen has grown into one of the largest career events for engineering students in

the Netherlands. It is remarkable that our study associations have been organizing this with

such enthusiasm for their fellow students for many years.

So dive into this ocean of opportunities, let the waves of inspiration carry you forward, and

seize the chances that lie ahead.

Good luck, and above all, enjoy these days and the journey of your career!

Prof. dr. Silvia Lenaerts

Rector Magnificus of Eindhoven University of Technology

Workshop

YOUR INNER TEAM:

FIND DIRECTION FROM WITHIN

Do you sometimes react in a way that surprises even

yourself—blurting something out, stepping back when

you wanted to speak up, or getting defensive when

you meant to stay calm?

That’s because we all have different “inner voices” pulling at the wheel. In

stressful moments, these parts often take over before you even notice.

In this workshop, you’ll get to know your inner team of selves—the

perfectionist, the dreamer, the joker, the critic, and more. Through

interactive reflecting exercises, you’ll explore who usually drives your bus,

who shouts from the back seat, and who you’d like to give more space.

By literally stepping into these roles, you don’t just think about change—

you feel it.

What you’ll take away: 1. Insight into your automatic reactions and

how to influence them. 2. Practical tools to choose the voice that fits the

moment. 3. A playful, hands-on way to boost self-awareness—expect to

move, reflect, and have fun.

English

Workshop

COMMUNICATE LIKE A PRO,

NOT A PROFESSOR

Ever shared an idea you thought was brilliant—only to

see blank stares or polite nods in return?

Often it’s not the idea that misses the mark, but how it’s communicated.

Jargon, overexplaining, or skipping the human connection can turn strong

insights into lost opportunities.

In this workshop you’ll discover how to translate complex thinking into

clear, engaging messages that actually land. You’ll learn to bridge the

gap between tech and non-tech, so your ideas inspire action instead of

confusion.

Through interactive exercises, you’ll practice: 1. Stripping away jargon

without “dumbing down” your ideas. 2. Adapting your message to

different audiences and contexts. 3. Adapting your body language to

your message. 4. Giving and receiving feedback that sharpens—not shuts

down—your communication. 5. Using clarity, brevity, and confidence to

get your point across.

What you’ll take away: 1. A simple toolkit for making ideas

understandable across disciplines. 2. Techniques to connect with

colleagues, clients, and partners beyond the tech bubble. 3. Confidence

to pitch, collaborate, and even small-talk in ways that build trust and

teamwork.

Workshop

THE DRAMA EXIT:

FROM REACTING TO TAKING THE LEAD

Ever found yourself in a tricky conversation and

thought: “How did we end up here?” Maybe one

word changed the tone, and suddenly you’re stuck—

feeling like the rescuer, the blamer, or the powerless

victim. That’s the drama triangle at work.

In this workshop you’ll learn to recognize when you step through one of

these doors—and how to choose a different one. Using the four doors

model (rescuer, accuser, victim, winner), you’ll explore how easy it is to

slip into drama and how powerful it feels to step into the winner’s door:

clear, responsible, and active.

Through interactive reflecting exercises, you’ll practice: 1. Spotting your

own default reaction in heated conversations. 2. Using boundary-setting

language and “I-statements” to stay out of drama. 3. Expressing your

needs clearly without overstepping your limits.

What you’ll take away: 1. A simple, visual framework (the four doors)

to understand unhelpful dynamics. 2. Concrete conversation tools to

shift from reacting to leading. 3. A fun, hands-on way to build clarity,

confidence, and responsibility in your communication.

Workshop

LATEX TRAINING BEGINNER

Many text editors are “what you see is what you get”

editors. These editors enable its users to manipulate

both the content and layout of a document in a

form that resembles its appearance when printed or

displayed. While this has many benefits, getting the

design or layout of a document to an acceptable level

is often time-consuming and takes away from writing

the content of the document.

LaTeX is a system that abstracts from document design by letting the author

write the content of a document and relieve the task of design and layout

to an external typesetting program. This way, the author can completely

focus on the contents of a document and does not have to spend any time

on its design.

However, LaTeX can do much more than layout and design generation. It

is a complete programming language that allows you to implement many

quality-of-life features that make it possible for you to efficiently generate

complex documents.

Workshop

LATEX TRAINING INTERMEDIATE

English

Thursday

11 December

18:30 - 21:30

Gijs de Man

In the intermediate course, some quality-of-life features of LaTeX will

be explained. You will get more acquainted with the “programming

language” of LaTeX by making your own commands and layouts. To

partake in the training, it is expected that you know how to make basic

documents in LaTeX.

Trainer

Gijs de Man

Gijs is a Master Computer Science and Engineering at the TU/e.

When using LaTeX during his studies, his interest in this program

peeked, and he decided to learn many of the obscure details about this

fascinating typesetting system.

good first impression during a job interview. After that, the STAR method

as used by recruiters, and other possible tough questions candidates will

have to deal with during an interview, will be discussed and explained.

Participants will also practice an interview in subgroups amongst one

another after which they receive feedback on their answers and nonverbal

behavior during the exercise. Participants of this workshop can

Workshop

INTERACTION -

THAT’S MY STRENGTH!

“Are there any questions left?” Only when you ask

them, you will know what people think. Somehow,

most presentations reserve interaction for the last

moment by using such non-triggering question as at

the beginning of this section.

That’s a shame because when they still have questions at the end of your

presentation, your presentation might not have been so good. Moreover,

you might have lost your audience way back when their question arose.

During this workshop, you will learn how to integrate interaction in your

presentation instead of gluing it on at the last minute.

Here we give you already three topics that we will cover in your training:

• What are the do’s and don’ts of interaction?

• How do you trigger your audience to interact with you?

• How do you balance interaction and returning to your own story?

The results of the course Interaction, that’s my jam! will be:

• How to integrate and activate your audience in your story

• How to keep track of your message without killing interaction

• Enhance your persuasiveness with the use of your audience

ELEVATOR PITCH

English

Friday

12 December

9:00 - 12:00

In public people tend to get an impression of you in

a very short amount of time. It is therefore, vital to

know how to leave a nice impression of yourself in

the first instances you meet someone. In this workshop

an active and dynamic way to practice personal

presentation is shown. How can you best leave a

good impression of yourself in a short time? We

will treat the elevator pitch actively and will further

elaborate on personal presentation.

Always make sure you’ve got an elevator pitch ready, a short presentation

in which you can enthusiastically tell others who you are and what you’re

good at. The name elevator pitch comes from a sales pitch in an elevator,

meaning you should be able to present yourself as the ideal solution for

the problem of your interlocutor within the time it takes to have a ride with

the elevator.

The elevator pitch can come in handy in a large variety of situations,

for example, during a congress or a fair, at parties or in the break of

a theatre performance. Also, during job interviews an elevator pitch

is useful; who doesn’t know the feared opening question: “So, tell me

something about yourself”. With the right preparation you will always

have a fluent and fitting answer to this question.
