Fashion Tip 101
How to Nail
Monochrome
Outfits Like
a Pro
By Oma Damian
Monochrome dressing has quickly
earned its place as a go-to
choice for style enthusiasts,
fashion influencers, and trendsavvy
individuals. What makes it so
timeless is its simplicity paired with
sophistication - offering a seamless, polished look
that requires little effort. From sharp whites to classic
blacks or daring reds, a single-colour outfit instantly
elevates your style, giving off a refined and cohesive
vibe without the stress of overplanning.
Here’s a short guide you can follow:
1. Start with Neutrals
If you’re new to monochrome dressing, ease in
with colours like black, white, beige, or grey. These
shades are forgiving, timeless, and almost impossible
to mess up. A white shirt paired with cream trousers
and nude shoes? Instantly classy.
2. Play with Textures
Wearing one colour doesn’t mean your outfit has
to be boring. Mix materials—think silk with leather,
4

denim with cotton, or knitwear with satin. The contrast in
textures keeps your look interesting while sticking to the same
colour palette.
3. Use Different Shades of the Same Colour
Here’s a pro tip: you don’t have to wear the exact same
shade from head to toe. In fact, playing with different tones
makes the outfit more dynamic. A soft pastel blue paired
with navy creates depth without breaking the monochrome
vibe.
4. Accessorise Wisely
Accessories can make or break your monochrome look.
Keep them subtle and in the same colour family, or go
bold with a statement piece that stands out just enough to
complement the outfit. For instance, a gold necklace on an
all-black look instantly elevates it.
www.glamsquadmagazine.com 5
FASHION
5. Confidence is Key
At the end of the day,
monochrome works best
when you own it. Stand tall,
walk in with confidence,
and your outfit will do the
talking for you.
Bonus tips: Try blue!
Ranging from deep navy to soft
powder hues, this adaptable
colour can shift from professional
to playful depending on the shade
and fabric. Discover a curated mix
of chic blue pieces in the Shades
of Blue collection, or opt for a
classic navy suit that never goes
out of style.

RUNWAY REPORT
Summer
2025
Collection
By Oma Damianx
Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons transformed Fondazione Prada into
a utopian vision for their Spring 2026 menswear show. The vast
concrete space was softened with fields of flower-shaped shag
carpets, while natural light spilt in and the unexpected sounds of
birdsong and cowbells floated from the speakers. It was a poetic
backdrop — both grounding and surreal.
The atmosphere recalled Rineke Dijkstra’s haunting 1993 portrait of a Ukrainian
boy on a beach in Odesa. Wearing slightly oversized burgundy swim trunks, the
boy embodies a mix of fragility, pride, and dignity — qualities that resonated
throughout Prada’s latest collection.
The designers embraced reinvention with a playful yet thoughtful twist on house
codes. Featherlight macs, cropped flared pants, retro-inspired track suits, supple
leather car coats, and shrunken sweaters were all combined in freewheeling ways.
New silhouettes emerged, too, including boatneck sweaters, smock-style tops, and
elongated army shirts reimagined as tunics. In a bold move, trousers were absent
in a significant number of looks, shifting focus to proportion and layering.
Accessories added to the intrigue. Straw flowerpot hats perched atop models’
heads, while black dress socks appeared with nearly every ensemble, tucked into
driving moccasins or two-tone boat shoes. The effect raised questions: Were these
young men heading to the office, the beach, the gym, or perhaps competing in a
tongue-in-cheek best-legs contest?
The colour palette blended contradictions seamlessly — khaki against lavender,
red paired with sky blue, celadon meeting pink. Each shade felt crisp, intentional,
and slightly melancholic, heightened by jangly music and the openness of the
space.

Naomi
Campbell:
“The Supermodel Who
Redefined Ageless Glamour”
By Martina Akanthe
Fashion has always
been more than
fabric and seams;
it is identity, power,
and a declaration of
existence. For Black
women, stepping onto the
global stage of fashion was
never just about beauty; it
was about survival, resilience,
and rewriting history.
As one of the first Black
women to claim her place
at the very top of the fashion
hierarchy, Naomi Elaine
Campbell transformed
rejection into resilience,
turning every stride down
the runway into a statement
of possibility. More than a
model, she became proof
that skin colour could no
longer be a barrier to
excellence.
Early Life - Big Dreams
Naomi was born on May
22, 1970, in Lambeth, South
London. Her mother, Valerie
Morris (now Morris-Campbell),
was a Jamaican-born dancer,
while her father was absent
from her life. Growing up,
Naomi studied Dance at the
Barbara Speake Stage School
and later at the Italia Conti
Academy. She also has a
younger half-brother, Pierre.
First Steps into Pop Culture
Before the catwalk, Naomi
appeared on screen at age
seven, when she starred in
Bob Marley’s Is This Love music
video and also featured in
Culture Club’s I’ll Tumble 4
Ya.
Naomi’s life changed
forever at the age of
fifteen when Beth Boldt,
a modelling scout with
Synchro Model Agency,
spotted her in London’s
Covent Garden and invited
her to join the agency.
The young schoolgirl with
dreams of dance had a
turning point that launched
her into a career which
would go on to shape
fashion history and establish
her as one of the most
renowned supermodels in
the world.
Breaking Barriers in Fashion

model; she was history in
motion. At a time when the
fashion world gave little
space to Black women, she
pushed through walls that had
stood for years.
In 1988, thirty-seven years
ago, Naomi became the
first Black woman to
appear on the cover
of French Vogue, a
bold moment that
challenged fashion’s
narrow idea of
beauty. In 1989, she
made history again
as the first Black
model to front
American Vogue’s
September issue,
the magazine’s
most powerful and
influential edition.
While she
continued to do
her thing, she
broke another
barrier as the first
Black model to open
a Prada show in
1997, a move that

For many young Black girls,
Naomi wasn’t just walking the
runway; she was breaking
limits and proving that colour

The Supermodel Years - and
Still Counting
From Versace to Chanel,
Alaïa to McQueen, Naomi
dominated the fashion world
with her fierce walk and
commanding presence.
Decades later, she remains
unstoppable, continuing to
headline campaigns and
runways.
In 2024, the Victoria and
Albert Museum (V&A) in
South Kensington, London,
opened a special exhibition
called NAOMI: In Fashion
- to celebrate Naomi’s 40
years in the fashion world. It
ran from June 22, 2024, to
April 6, 2025, and it was the
first major show of its kind
dedicated to a living model.
The exhibition brought more
than a hundred outfits
from Naomi’s
career, from
stunning haute couture gowns
to everyday ready-to-wear
looks. It also included designs
from fashion legends like
Thierry Mugler, Alexander
McQueen, and Valentino.
More than just fashion, the
show highlighted Naomi’s
creative partnerships, her
activism, and her influence
on culture. Produced in
collaboration with Campbell
herself, NAOMI: In Fashion was
both a tribute to her timeless
glamour and a reminder
of the powerful mark

In 2023, she co-starred in the
Apple TV+ docuseries The

the era she helped define

Naomi has shown through

creating space, telling stories,
and passing on wisdom to

Naomi Campbell’s influence
has never been limited to the

has spread her wings into
acting, television, mentoring,

She has tried her hand at

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what has
shaped your journey?
I’ve been married for 34 years and blessed with four
wonderful children. My life has been a journey of
transformation, full of experiences that have shaped
who I am today. From career shifts to relocating from
Nigeria to the UK, every challenge has taught me
something new about resilience and gratitude.

Justina Aimufua (Middle) with her four children from left Uyi, Amen, Justina, Efe and Osa
Relocating to a new country can be a defining
chapter. What was that experience like for you?
Moving to the UK over two decades ago wasn’t an easy
decision. I, initially, hesitated because we didn’t have a
family support system there, but I eventually joined my
husband for his Ph.D. programme. The transition came
with its challenges — adapting to a new environment,
limited career options, and the need to raise our
children in an entirely new culture. But looking back, I
have no regrets. My children have thrived, and that
makes every struggle worth it.
How would you describe life in the UK compared to
Nigeria?
There are clear differences. The UK is more
individualistic, while in Nigeria, we value community
and support. That was hard to adjust to initially, but
the sense of security and order here is comforting.
Things work — from electricity to healthcare — and
that stability gives peace of mind. However, Nigeria will
always have my heart.
You’ve spoken passionately about Nigeria’s state
today. What are your thoughts?
Each time I visit, I’m saddened by the decline I see
— from infrastructure to security. The problem isn’t just
leadership; it’s societal. There’s a lack of accountability
and too much emphasis on wealth over values.Until we

rebuild our systems — especially education and
healthcare — we’ll continue to struggle. But I still
have hope that change can come if we start valuing
integrity again.
Have you faced challenges with racism or cultural
adjustment in the UK?
Of course, racism exists, but I don’t let it define me.
I’ve taught my children to stand tall and speak up for
themselves. I believe confidence and self-worth are
powerful tools. Racism isn’t just in the West — it exists
even in African societies — so I focus on strength and
personal empowerment.
You now dedicate time to helping other migrants and
women. Tell us more about that.
I’m deeply passionate about helping women and
migrants find their footing. Through my church and
community groups, I support newcomers in navigating
the system, finding work, and adjusting emotionally. My
goal is to create a platform that uplifts and connects
women, especially those starting over.
What keeps you grounded through all these
transitions?
Gratitude. I’m thankful for my family, my faith, and
every experience that shaped me. Life hasn’talways

been easy, but I’ve learned to live fully, appreciate
small blessings, and believe in karma— that what you
give comes back to you.
Looking ahead, what do you hope your legacy will be?
I want to be remembered as someone who inspired
others to live with courage and kindness. If my story can
help even one person find hope or strength in their own
journey, then I’ve done something meaningful.
Of course, racism exists,
but I don’t let it define me.

The Lip Gloss
Comeback of
2025 By
Oma Damian
38

BEAUTY
For anyone who’s missed the shine—or never
got comfortable with ultra-matte lips—2025
is a gift. It’s a chance to reimagine lip gloss
not as a novelty, but as a staple of beauty.
And whether you want a bold, “I can’t stop-staring”
look or just a quick swipe for a fresh face, the
options are better than ever.
The lip gloss revival of 2025 marks a shift back to glossy,
high-shine lips, steering away from uncomfortable situations
in favor of a radiant, moisturized look. Modern formulas
go beyond shine, offering nourishment, comfort, and
protection, while coming in a wide spectrum of shades—
from subtle, natural tints to vibrant berry hues.
Here are some glosses to consider:
Vinyl/High-Shine Glosses
Glosses that give the glassy, mirror-like sheen are very in.
Perfect for spotlight moments, glam nights, or anytime you
want a bold reflex.
Berry & Deep Mocha Shades
Moving away from neutrals alone, richer hues in berry,
plum, and warm browns are combined with gloss to give
depth + shine.
Hybrid Oil-Glosses
Gloss plus lip care. These feel lighter, more nourishing.
They’re a favourite for those who like a shiny finish but hate
feeling sticky or drying.
Jam Lips
A trend, especially from summer 2025, is lip looks inspired
by fruit jams (such as berry, strawberry, and plum) with
gloss layered over for a juicy, “just-eaten” effect. Smudged,
blended, soft edges rather than sharp lines.

#LoveIsEazi became a global fashion moment.
From a chic civil wedding in Monaco to a

refined chic. On the Ajibade side, tradition met
polish, with aso-oke and tailored attire that spoke
heritage with a modern edge.
And the guests? Every arrival felt like a runway
moment, with sequined gowns, sleek tuxedos, and
bold cultural fashion that lit up the celebrations.
Paired with the dreamy
décor and atmosphere, the wedding went beyond
vows and rings; it became the ultimate fusion of
love and style.
#LoveIsEazi wasn’t just a wedding. It was 2025’s
grandest fashion fairytale.
