Since completing EDCP I have become a new manager. What has been unexpectedly

beneficial from the program was that it has really helped in being able to effectively

coach my team through education development. Pre-EDCP I don’t think I would

have had the words or explicit understanding to articulate the steps and process

in designing education. Completing EDCP has enabled me to provide focused

feedback and coaching to my team members through designing education and

exercises. All in all, I would say the program has been very impactful.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Frequently Asked

Questions

SLI Workshops

What do I need to attend a virtual workshop?

You will need a computer (desktop or laptop) that is equipped with a microphone

and preferably a camera as well. Please try to find a quiet workspace.

Can I attend a virtual workshop from my phone?

Yes, but you will likely have difficulty viewing the information on the screen or

participating in the chat window. It is not recommended.

SLI Certificate Programs

How will I know when I have enough workshops to be eligible to receive a

certificate?

Please ensure that you read the certificate requirements and track your

accomplishments. If you have met all of the SLI requirements and have not heard

from us, please contact leadership.institute@sunnybrook.ca.

How do I track my progress as I complete the components for the SLI certificate

program? Or, how do I see what workshops I’ve completed in the past?

Any workshop or eLearning module you complete can be found in myEducation,

under My Learning → Completed tab.

59

Are the eLearning modules included in a certificate program mandatory to

graduate?

You must complete all modules in order to graduate. This includes doing make-up

sessions within the following year.

I noticed that all the SLI Certificate Programs are offered during the academic

year. Why is that?

We offer our SLI Workshops and Programs from September to June because we have

noticed there is a significant decrease in registration during the summer months.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I noticed that some criteria have changed for some SLI Certificate Programs.

If I have already completed some of the workshops for a particular SLI

program, do I have to start again?

Some workshops you completed previously may be applicable; others you may be

asked to repeat. Please email leadership.institute@sunnybrook.ca for information.

I noticed that some SLI Certificate Programs are recognized by receiving only

a certificate and others include being recognized with one’s name on the SLI

plaque. Why is that?

The Sunnybrook Leadership Institute recognizes those participants who have

completed Certificate programs that specifically develop the leadership skills of

communication, self-awareness and conflict management by recognizing them with

an SLI certificate and adding their names to our SLI plaque. Our other certificate

programs support the development of facilitation and education, but not specifically

leadership, therefore they are awarded certificates to acknowledge this achievement.
