PAUL WONG
REBELLI ON
011
PA UL WONG | Vancouver, BC
PFrom the East to the far West,
Paul Wong?s artistic journey has
been defined by movement ?
across landscapes, generations, and
the boundaries of form and identity.
Born into an era that
often-marginalized difference,
Wong transformed his personal
experiences into a powerful
language of visual and media art
that would change how Canada
sees itself.
s p i r i t s
013
Over five decades, Wong has become a
defining voice in contemporary art. His
work ? unapologetically bold and
relentlessly inventive ? has illuminated the
intersections of race, sexuality, and
belonging. From the beginning, he resisted
artistic conformity, preferring to create
work for site-specific spaces and screens
of all sizes, long before digital became
the dominant medium.
As a pioneer, Wong challenged the
conventions of who gets to make art and
how it is experienced. Through video,
performance, installation, and public
intervention, he invited audiences to
re-examine their assumptions and confront
the unseen.
A LIFE IN M OTION
Since the 1970 s, Wong has been an
unstoppable force ? an artist, curator,
and community builder who founded
multiple artist-run centres, organized
festivals, conferences, and large-scale
public installations. His work has been
shown throughout N orth America, Europe,
and Asia, bridging cultures and
generations.
Each of his projects, whether intimate or
expansive, carries a sense of purpose and
provocation. His art speaks of lived
experience: queer, Asian, Canadian? and
deeply human. By exploring these layered
identities, Wong creates art that is at once
personal and universal, weaving memory,
displacement, and belonging into a visual
dialogue that endures.
The accolades are many, but none more
telling than the communities he has built
and inspired.
Wong has long advocated for
representation and inclusion, shaping
Canada?s cultural landscape through
persistence, generosity, and a belief in the
power of art to connect.
THE COURAGE TO PROVOKE
Wong?s early work set the tone for a
lifetime of challenging perceptions. His
1975 video On Becoming a M an marked a
turning point in Canadian video art ? a
poetic exploration of identity and
transformation. Filmed on the day of his
21st birthday, it captures a quiet
rebellion: a young man literally and
figuratively moving through the city,
seeking meaning beyond inherited
expectation.
Nine years later, Confused: Sexual View s
(1984) tested the limits of institutional
tolerance. When the Vancouver Art
Gallery censored the work as ?not art,? it
ignited a fierce debate about artistic
freedom and censorship. Wong?s insistence
on visibility ? on confronting sexuality,
identity, and social taboos ? was both
controversial and visionary. Two decades
later, the same work would enter the VAG?s
permanent collection, a powerful
acknowledgment of its enduring cultural
relevance.
His 1997 installation Window s 97, created
for London?s Institute of Contemporary
Art , offered a biting commentary on
colonialism, capitalism, and reunification
at the time of Hong Kong?s handover to
China. Through animated neon and
painted steel, Wong fused the language of
global politics with the intimate tension of
belonging between two worlds.
015
LAN GUAGE OF IDEN TITY
Throughout his career, Wong has used
art to question and redefine identity. In
works such as Cover (20 11), he inserts
himself directly into the cultural frame ?
his face on the cover of The Georgia
Straight, reproduced in silkscreen prints.
Pieces like I Am Somebody and
Signature underscore his refusal to be
marginalized or silenced. Wong?s art is,
and always has been, a declaration of
presence.
His recent publication, ? ? ? ? ?
/ Occupying Chinatow n, brings this full
circle. The bilingual book examines his
engagement with Vancouver?s Chinese
communities through richly detailed
imagery and essays. Inspired by 90 0
letters written to his mother, Suk- Fong
Wong, over 65 years, the project
explores language, memory, and
displacement ? capturing the essence
of what it means to belong to multiple
worlds at once.
As a storyteller, Wong transcends
medium. Whether through neon light,
moving image, or printed page, he
creates space for reflection and
reclamation.
COM M UN ITY AN D COURAGE
As Artistic Director of On M ain Gallery
(On the Cutting Edge Productions
Society), he continues to shape
Vancouver?s artistic ecosystem. His role
as curator of Enemy Alien: Tamio
Wakayama for the VAG demonstrates
his dedication to amplifying voices that
document resilience and resistance.
017
Equally transformative is Pride in Chinatow n,
a groundbreaking initiative Wong co-founded
with Dr. Sun Yat- Sen Classical Chinese
Garden. What began in 20 18 as a one-night
event celebrating queer pan- Asian
Canadian art has since grown into a
multi-day festival. It was the first time a
rainbow flag flew openly in Vancouver?s
Chinatown ? a historic moment of visibility
and unity.
Through intergenerational collaboration,
traditional Cantonese opera met
contemporary drag performance, dissolving
boundaries between the old and new, East
and West, tradition and rebellion. The
festival?s growth ? marked by a 180 %
increase in attendance between 20 18 and
20 19 ? proved that inclusion has a powerful
audience. Even during the challenges of the
pandemic, Pride in Chinatown persisted as a
hybrid of digital and in-person experiences,
embodying the resilience of the community it
celebrates.
A LEGACY OF FIRSTS
Recognition has followed Wong at every
stage. From the Bell Canada Aw ard in Video
Art (1992) to the Governor General?s Aw ard
in Visual and M edia Art (20 0 5), the Audain
Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Visual Arts
(20 16), and the Fire Horse Aw ard (20 24), his
honours reflect a lifetime of cultural
transformation. His recent appointment as
Artist in Residence at UBC (20 24?20 25)
further cements his status as one of Canada?s
most influential creators.
In 20 23, the Federation of Gay Games
recognized him with the Outstanding Artist
Aw ard, and Emily Carr University of Art and
Design conferred upon him an Honorary
Doctorate? fitting tributes to an artist who
has shaped generations of creative minds.
LOOKIN G AHEAD
Even after fifty years, Wong remains in motion.
His recent works, including The Prop House
Film (commissioned by the grunt gallery for
their urban screen), The Prop House:
Collection of One M illion Objects at Griffin
Art Projects, 20 24 and Return to Sender,
(Work in Progress) an experimental
documentary blending vintage Super 8 with
HD video, reveal an artist still exploring the
boundaries of storytelling.
Each new project feels both retrospective
and forward-looking ? a meditation on
legacy, memory, and the ongoing
conversation between the artist and the
world.
Wong most recently curated Enemy Alien:
Tamio Wakayama, the first major solo
exhibition and retrospective of works
by Tamio Wakayama. He also edited the
exhibition?s accompanying catalogue, the first
publication devoted to Wakayama which
includes his unpublished memoir?Soul on Rice.
Through his art, Wong has given Canada more
than visual narratives? he has given it a
mirror. One that reflects a richer, more
complex, and more inclusive version of itself.
His life?s work has not only expanded the
definition of art but also redefined the act of
belonging.
Paul Wong is not merely an artist of his time;
he is an artist who has shaped time itself.

TALLU
TALLU
021
K A THERINE EVA NS | Vancouver, BC
KKatherine
Evans has a quiet strength
about her. The kind of energy that fills a
room not with noise, but with warmth ?
with calm assurance that something
meaningful is being created. As the
Founder and CEO of TALLU Wellness
Blends, a Vancouver-based wellness and
lifestyle brand, Evans has built more than
a company. She has built a movement
rooted in connection ? to ourselves, to
one another, and to the spaces we
inhabit.
For Evans, wellness is not a trend. It is a
way of life. Her philosophy is both
elegantly simple and profoundly
intentional: to bring calm, clarity, and
connection into the everyday.
Through TALLU, she has translated this
belief into a collection of clean,
sensory-driven products that transform
ordinary moments into rituals of
restoration.
FROM HOSPITALITY TO HOLISTIC LIVIN G
Katherine?s early career was shaped by
the world of luxury hospitality, beginning
at Vancouver?s celebrated OPUS Hotel,
where she learned that true service is not
about transactions, but about meaningful
experiences. It was there that she began
to understand how spaces ? infused with
thoughtfulness and care ? can make
people feel seen, welcomed, and at ease.
Over the next two decades, her career
would evolve through leadership roles
spanning hospitality, technology, and
marketing.
From her time as a leader at Apple Inc.
in Cupertino, California, to heading a
North American marketing agency
working with clients across Canada and
the USA, Evans built an exceptional
foundation in leadership, strategy, and
brand transformation.
023
Yet beneath the professional success was a
growing desire for something more
personal ? something soulful.
That calling took form in TALLU, named in
honour of a beloved horse, Tallulah, a
companion whose memory continues to
inspire the brand?s spirit of grounded
elegance. The line was created first for
horses and as a kitchen spray for her
mother. Born during the uncertainty of the
pandemic, TALLU was Evans?way of
creating balance in chaos. ?I wanted to
design a line of products that would
eliminate toxins from the home,? she says.
?And then from there, the rest is history! I am
living my absolute best dream with Tallu. It
is my heart, my passion, my soul ? and
brings me so much joy everyday in all
aspects of my life.?
BIRTH OF A BRAN D WITH HEART
From its inception, TALLU has embodied
Evans?core values: authenticity, intention,
and integrity. What began with M AGIC, a
single essential oil blend designed to
restore balance has since grown into a
collection of candles, diffusers, soaps, and
body blends ? each one created in small
batches with clean ingredients and natural
essential oils.
Every product is designed to be more than
an oil blend. It is a sensory experience that
bridges the physical and the spiritual,
inviting users to reconnect with themselves
and the spaces they call home. The brand?s
minimalist, timeless aesthetic reflects
Evans?belief that simplicity is the highest
form of sophistication.
Based in Vancouver, BC, TALLU now serves
retail, wholesale, and hospitality partners
across N orth America. Its partnerships
extend into luxury hotels, wellness clubs,
and lifestyle properties, including M arriot
Autograph CIVIC Hotel, OPUS Vancouver,
ACCOR Hotels, Rosew ood Hotel Georgia,
TURF, Keefer House, Rosemead House,
Vancouver Club, Smithe House, and
Tality Wellness Inc..
Collaborations with global hospitality and
development leaders such as EQUIN OX,
N icola Wealth, Anthem, Onni, Wesgroup,
Janda Group, and even the Four Seasons
Resort at Costa Palmas in Baja M exico,
have positioned TALLU as a trusted scent
and amenity partner for those who
understand that wellness begins
with the senses.
?Hotels and hospitality venues are my
favourite places in the world, and where
the best memories are created? says Evans.
?By bringing TALLU into these spaces, we
create environments that feel restorative,
authentic, when we close our eyes we can
travel back immediately to the feeling of
being there.?
BUILDIN G SOULFUL BUSIN ESS STRATEGY
What sets Evans apart is her rare ability to
bridge business acumen with soulful
intention.
Drawing from her background in
human-centred design and brand
leadership, she approaches wellness
not as a luxury, but as an essential part
of modern living.
025
Through TALLU, she champions a new
vision for the wellness industry ? one that
rejects the superficial and instead focuses
on the human experience. Each TALLU
product embodies her understanding that
our surroundings shape our emotional
state. A candle is not simply décor. A
diffuser is not merely fragrance. Together,
they are anchors of mindfulness, inviting
pause and presence in the fast pace of
modern life.
Under Evans?leadership, TALLU has
evolved into a company recognized for
its thoughtful approach to holistic
wellbeing and intentional design.
It serves as a bridge between the
corporate world she came from and the
mindful one she sought to build ?
merging luxury with consciousness,
elegance with empathy.
DEEP COM M ITTM EN T TO COM M UN ITY
Beyond the brand?s aesthetic appeal lies
a profound sense of purpose. Evans has
always believed that wellness must
extend beyond personal wellbeing to
encompass community care. Through
TALLU & Co, she has established
charitable partnerships with
organizations that reflect her values of
compassion and empowerment.
Among these initiatives, Evans sits on the
Board of M OM ?s Offering M ORE, a
Vancouver-based foundation, founded by
Kasondra Herrendorf- Cohen, that
support the most marginalized youth in
our community.
?We believe that it?s important to give
back to the communities that have
supported us,? Evans explains. ?Through
our partnerships with non-profit
organizations like The Dr Peter Centre,
Face of Today, Canuck Place
Foundation, Arts Umbrella, and the
CKN W Kids?Fund, we hope to make a
positive impact close to home.?
Her philanthropy is not a marketing
gesture but a continuation of her guiding
principle and family upbringing. Evans?
parents John & Susan Evans have a deep
passion for philanthropy and Katherine is
pleased to continue in her parents
footsteps.
Whether through scent, space, or social
action, TALLU?s mission remains consistent
? to nurture and uplift.
LIVIN G WITH IN TEN TION
Evans?personal life mirrors the balance
and joy she promotes through her brand.
She is the proud mother of her son, Sam,
partner in life and work to Sebastian and
shares her home with Charlie the dog
and Jelly the cat. Her love for animals ?
and for her horses continues to inform her
respect for nature and her dedication to
creating products free of toxins and
harm.
Every decision at TALLU reflects this care.
The company?s clean formulations,
essential oil blends, and sustainable
production practices demonstrate that
wellness and environmental responsibility
can coexist beautifully.
027
Evans?leadership embodies this harmony ?
she runs her company with both discipline
and grace, always guided by purpose rather
than pressure.
EXPAN DIN G HORIZON S
As TALLU continues to grow, Evans remains
committed to maintaining the integrity that
defined its beginnings. The brand?s expansion
into hotels, wellness clubs, and lifestyle
properties represents more than a business
milestone ? it signifies a broader cultural shift
toward mindful luxury.
Evans envisions a world where wellness
products are seamlessly woven into the fabric
of daily life ? where the scent of lavender or
bergamot becomes part of a morning ritual,
and where design and wellbeing are
inseparable.
From its West Coast origins, TALLU is now
making waves across North America, resonating
with those who seek authenticity and balance.
Yet despite its growing influence, the brand
remains grounded in the values it was built
upon: kindness, intention, and care.
AN IN VITATION TO BREATHE
In every sense, Katherine Evans is a builder ?
of brands, of communities, and of beauty
through simplicity. Her story is one of
transformation, not just professionally but
personally. Through TALLU, she has created a
brand that speaks to our collective longing for
stillness in a world that never seems to pause.
To experience TALLU is to be reminded that
wellness is not something we find; it is
something we create ? moment by moment,
breath by breath.

VM O | 23rd Season Launch | Vancouver, BC
V M O
The Vancouver M etropolitan Orchestra
launched its 23rd season with a concert
that set the tone for an ambitious year
ahead.
The opening night combined a world
premiere, masterful chamber playing, and
the brilliance of internationally
acclaimed pianist David Fung.
Conductor Ken Hsieh summed up the
excitement: ?What a fantastic season
opening to have three internationally
renowned musicians on stage with the
VMO for the 23rd season opening!"
The program began with the world
premiere of a new work by resident
composer Aidan Wong, showcasing the
orchestra?s commitment to supporting
contemporary voices. But the heart
of the evening was the collaboration
between Fung and celebrated string
players Christel Lee on violin and
Jonathan Rosemann on cello.
Together, the trio brought Beethoven?s
Piano Trio to life with energy, lyricism,
and a refined sense of dialogue between
the instruments.
035
For Fung, whose artistry has been
described by The Washington Post as
?ravishing and simply gorgeous,? the
performance marked a return to his
home city of Vancouver. Though now
based between N ew York and
Vancouver, Fung?s career has taken him
across the globe.
He has performed as a soloist with some
of the world?s most distinguished
orchestras, including the Cleveland
Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the
Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the San
Francisco Symphony.
His collaborations with conductors such
as Gustavo Dudamel, M arin Alsop, and
Christian Zacharias have established
him as a pianist of remarkable versatility
and depth.
Beyond the concerto stage, Fung is a
sought-after recitalist and chamber
musician, appearing at festivals such as
Aspen, Ravinia, Caramoor, Edinburgh,
and Hong Kong Arts.
He has captivated audiences at
Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the
Kennedy Center, Gew andhaus, and
the Zürich Tonhalle. His chamber
collaborations include work with the
Brentano, Dover, and Jupiter Quartets,
each adding to his reputation as an
artist of both precision and passion.
037
His recordings further reflect his
artistry. For the Steinw ay & Sons
label, Fung released Transcendent
Beethoven and a critically praised
M ozart sonata series, both earning
acclaim for their clarity and bold
interpretation. He has also appeared
on over a dozen releases with
Pentatone, Orchid, Genuin,
Yarlung, and N axos. A laureate of the
Queen Elisabeth International M usic
Competition in Brussels and the
Arthur Rubinstein International
M asters Competition in Tel Aviv,
Fung?s journey has been marked by
excellence at every step.
The VMO?s season opener placed
Fung?s artistry at its core, offering
Vancouver audiences a rare chance
to hear a musician of such
international stature in an intimate
setting. David Fung's performance
with Lee and Rosemann reflected not
only virtuosity but also a spirit of
collaboration that elevated the
evening into something unforgettable.

BUTTERFLY X BUTTERFLY | Vancouver, BC
B
Bathed in soft light that drifts
through glass and curve, the
Butterfly Piano rests like a living
sculpture at the heart of The
Butterfly building.
Its polished surface mirrors the
rippling architecture that
surrounds it, while the air hums with
quiet reverence.
The lobby feels alive ? an
orchestration of light, space, and
intention ? where form and
feeling exist in graceful balance.
Custom-crafted by Fazioli, the
piano?s white contours echo the
tower?s organic geometry,
creating a visual and emotional
harmony that invites pause.
043
Yet, the connection between the
building and the piano extends beyond
aesthetic design. Both draw from a
shared muse ? the ethereal artistry of
Alexander M cQueen?s Oyster Dress from his
Spring/ Summer 20 0 3 Irere Collection ? a
creation that, like the architecture and the
instrument, captures the beauty of
transformation through movement, structure,
and light.
THE BUILDIN G THAT BREATHES
The Butterfly rises from downtown Vancouver
like a living sculpture. Its curved, undulating
form was designed to echo the wings of a
butterfly, softening the skyline with movement
and grace. The structure embodies a sense of
transformation ? a blending of natural
rhythm and urban energy that feels alive.
Light flows freely through its contours,
creating a meditative balance between
strength and delicacy.
Bing Thom?s vision was rooted in emotion and
experience rather than monumentality. Much
like McQueen?s design philosophy, his
architecture spoke of motion, vulnerability,
and resilience. The building seems to inhale
and exhale with the city, a poetic reflection
of life?s dualities.
THE DRESS THAT IN SPIRED A LEGACY
When London-born designer McQueen
debuted his Irere collection in 20 0 3, the
Oyster Dress emerged as its haunting
centrepiece. Crafted from cascading layers
of silk that seemed to drift like sea foam, the
gown embodied both fragility and ferocity.
According to the Victoria & Albert
M useum, McQueen drew inspiration from
Roland Joffé?s 1986 film The M ission,
imagining a ?fantastical and sinister world?
surrounded by water and resurrection.
The Oyster Dress became a defining moment
in fashion for its ability to capture two
opposing forces ? destruction and beauty,
chaos and calm. It symbolized rebirth, with
every ripple of silk echoing the movement of
water reclaiming life. Now part of the
permanent collection at the M etropolitan
M useum of Art in N ew York, it remains one of
McQueen?s most celebrated creations,
resonating across disciplines for its power to
evoke emotion through form.
That same emotional language flows through
The Butterfly. Both the dress and the building
exist in dialogue ? each defined by fluidity,
transformation, and a reverence for the
natural world. They express movement not as
motion, but as metamorphosis.
THE PIAN O THAT CON N ECTS THEM
The Butterfly Piano, a custom-made Fazioli
grand, was created to echo the architectural
rhythm of the building. Its elegant curves,
luminous surface, and sculptural presence
mirror the softness of McQueen?s silk and the
organic energy of Thom?s design.
The piano does not merely occupy the lobby
? it belongs to it, transforming space into a
symphony of line, light, and sound.
045
In its form and tone, the Butterfly Piano
bridges disciplines. It stands as a
metaphor for harmony itself ? where
fashion, architecture, and music coexist
as expressions of emotion. The flowing
white silhouette invites reflection, much
like McQueen?s Oyster Dress, capturing
a feeling of rebirth and fluid grace.
CELIN E PAOLIN I AN D THE BUTTERFLY
International pianist and composer
Celine Paolini was among the first to
play the Butterfly Fazioli, and her
connection to it has since become part
of its story. Her admiration extends to its
tone and temperament.
?The touch and tone of the Butterfly
Fazioli when I play are just exquisite,?
she explains. ?It is more on the mellow,
warm side, and anyone who listens to my
compositions knows that I usually play
slower romantic pieces, which aligns
perfectly with this piano.?
Recently, Celine visited the Butterfly
Fazioli in its permanent location,
reuniting with the instrument that had
first inspired her years earlier.
As she played, the sound seemed to
merge with the building?s form ? soft,
fluid, and introspective. Her music, like
McQueen?s design, tells stories of
transformation, drawing listeners into a
shared emotional space between
fragility and strength.
WHERE ART TAKES FLIGHT
Together, The Butterfly, the Fazioli
Piano, and M cQueen?s Oyster Dress
form an unspoken conversation across
art forms. Each piece captures the
essence of metamorphosis ? the idea
that beauty can emerge from tension
and rebirth. Alexander M cQueen
explored it through silk, Bing Thom
through architecture, Fazioli through
craftsmanship, and Celine Paolini
through sound.
In their union, we are reminded that
artistry, in all its forms, is a dialogue
between stillness and motion ? a
moment suspended between what was
and what will be. The Butterfly, in every
expression, continues to take flight.

BRENDAN LEE
SATI SH TANG
049
BRENDA N LEE TA NG SA TISH | Gallery Jones
BStep into a room with Brendan Lee
Satish Tang ?s work and you are
immediately pulled into a collision of
histories, cultures, and visual
languages. Represented in
Vancouver by Gallery Jones,
Tang?s ceramic practice feels less
like a single narrative and more like
an ongoing remix ? layered,
restless, and deeply engaged
with the contradictions of
contemporary culture.
Born in Dublin, Ireland to
Trinidadian parents, and now a
naturalized citizen of Canada,
Tang embodies cultural hybridity in
both life and art. His education took
him across Canada?s coasts and into
the American M idw est , where he
committed to ceramics,
a medium that continues to
anchor his practice.
051
Today, from his Vancouver studio,
Tang creates work that has traveled far
beyond: exhibitions at the M useum of
Fine Arts in Boston, the M usée d' art
contemporain de M ontréal, the
Vancouver Art Gallery, and the
International M useum of Ceramic in
Faenza, Italy. His recognition spans
borders too ? short-listed for the Sobey
Prize, a finalist for the Loew e Craft Prize,
and profiled everywhere from The
Know ledge N etwork to Wired UK.
Tang describes his approach with
characteristic candour: ?My artistic
practice embodies the influences,
tensions and contradictions that define
the postmodern world.? His ceramics
embrace paradox, shifting easily
between irreverence and critical
reflection. He is playful yet deliberate,
deeply invested in craftsmanship while
simultaneously poking at the boundaries
between art and craft.
That tension is part of what makes his
vessels so compelling. ?Although my works
are non-functional, I often employ vessel
forms, or otherwise allude to incongruous
functionality,? he explains.
A jar sprouts robotic wiring, a
Ming-inspired form gleams with metallic
prosthetics? objects that seem futuristic
and ancient at once. They are seductive
to look at, but they also pose questions
about cultural appropriation, hybridity,
and value.
Tang situates himself within the ?remix
generation,? where channel surfing,
mash-ups, and visual sampling are
a way of life.
053
?I absorb, interpret and bank a great deal of visual
information to inform my personal aesthetic,? he says.
His inspirations range from Japanese comics and
plastic toys to 18th century French rococo and the
elegance of Chinese M ing dynasty vessels. By
pulling from such disparate sources, Tang creates
objects that are both playful and profound, humorous
and serious.
Humour, in fact, is one of his most powerful tools.
?I find this is an especially effective means of viewer
engagement when addressing sensitive subject
areas,? he notes, referencing themes of w ar, climate
change, and geo- politics. His work becomes a
portal: beautiful, accessible, yet always inviting
reflection on issues that resonate globally.
Despite the conceptual complexity, Tang insists on
refinement and craft. ?My work is labour intensive and
detail oriented,? he says. Every piece may include
hand painting, gold luster, airbrushing, hand-modeled
filigree, or photo-based decals. This devotion to
craftsmanship grounds his practice, rooting even the
most whimsical ideas in tradition.
It is this balance ? hedonistic engagement with visual
culture, anchored by painstaking technique ? that
defines Tang?s art. ?Through my approach to art
making, I work as a visual ethnographer,? he explains.
Each vessel, sculpture, or installation becomes part
of a larger archive: a record of cultural collisions,
personal histories, and the ongoing dialogue between
art, craft, and identity.
In Vancouver and far beyond, Tang?s work reminds us
that culture is never static. It is layered, hybrid, and
alive ? just like the art he continues to create.

CELEBRATE
NI COLE
&
LESLI E
059
THE VA NCOUVER CLUB | 915 West Hastings Street
N & L
THE VISION OF FOREVER
When N icole and Leslie first met through
a mutual friend, neither expected that a
casual introduction would lead to a
lifelong partnership. Their connection was
immediate yet unforced? an exchange of
warmth and quiet humour that hinted at
something deeper. Nicole?s open,
golden-retriever energy met Leslie?s calm
and thoughtful nature with perfect
balance. What began as a spark grew
into an enduring love built on laughter,
respect, and the comfort of simply being
themselves.
Years later, under the soft blush of a
Santorini sunrise, Leslie proposed. He had
convinced Nicole that they were taking
part in an early-morning photoshoot? an
idea so unlike him that it should have
raised suspicion. As the wind swept across
the cliffs, Nicole?s hand slipped into his
jacket pocket for warmth, coming
dangerously close to discovering the
hidden ring. Leslie?s gentle laughter and
subtle evasions preserved the surprise until
the moment was just right. When he knelt
to ask the question, the world seemed to
still around them. She said yes.
For their Vancouver wedding, the couple
sought an aesthetic that was both
minimalist and grand? timeless elegance
that would never fade with passing trends.
The Vancouver Club, with its old-world
charm and architectural grace, provided
the perfect canvas for their dream
celebration. Every element was carefully
chosen to reflect who they are as a
couple? refined, sincere, and effortlessly
poised.
The day began with a traditional
Chinese Tea Ceremony, honouring
heritage and family before moving into
the western ceremony and reception. The
ballroom shimmered in soft tones of white
and ivory, with florals by Oak & Willow ?
delicate arrangements of baby?s breath,
roses, and orchids.
Each detail felt intentional yet
unpretentious, a quiet expression of love
elevated through thoughtful design by
KeepSake Events.
061
THE BRIDE AN D GROOM
Nicole walked down the aisle in a
modern strapless Stella York gown from
Lisa?s Bridal, its clean lines and scoop
neckline epitomizing minimalist
sophistication. A detachable satin
overskirt and bow added soft movement
as she walked, paired with block-heeled
sandals by Stuart Weitzman and a
M ade With Love Holly veil. Her
accessories ? a Tiffany & Co. bracelet
and Christine Jew ellers
pieces? completed a look that radiated
understated glamour.
Her hair, styled by Jeiscoco into
cascading Hollywood waves, framed her
face with natural ease. The makeup was a
reflection of Nicole herself ? soft,
glowing, and confident. Later in the
evening, she changed into another Stella
York look for the reception and a playful
VIM O Wedding dress for the afterparty.
Leslie matched her elegance in an
Emporio Armani M-Line tuxedo paired
with a Dior bowtie and shoes. His look was
classic and perfectly tailored, embodying
quiet confidence. Together, they were the
picture of timeless refinement.
THE WEDDIN G PARTY
Their wedding party mirrored the couple?s
aesthetic harmony. Bridesmaids wore
crepe gowns in rosette pink from Azazie ?
feminine yet subtle ? while the
groomsmen complemented the palette
with matching rosette pink ties and pocket
squares. The result was a vision of balance
and cohesion, every shade and texture
thoughtfully aligned.
063
A CELEBRATION OF CON N ECTION
With 150 loved ones gathered to
celebrate, the atmosphere was filled with
warmth and anticipation. Each guest
received a personal name card, written in
the style of a dictionary definition? a
creative and heartfelt touch that mixed
humour with sentiment.
?We wanted our guests to feel truly seen
and appreciated,? Nicole shared. ?Every
definition reflected something we loved
about them.?
Entertainment came courtesy of live music
by Vitaraduo and DJ sets by
WeKnow M usic, transforming the elegant
ballroom into a joyful celebration of
rhythm and romance.
Guests delighted in playful surprises like a
claw machine filled with plush toys and a
photo booth for capturing memories. Late
into the evening, hangover kits ?
complete with vitamin C, electrolytes,
and Ricola drops ? were distributed as
a lighthearted nod to the fun ahead.
THE CULIN ARY EXPERIEN CE
Dinner was served in plated style,
complemented by an open bar that kept
spirits high throughout the night. The
couple?s signature cocktails ?
Old Fashioned, Red Sangria, and a
zero-proof M ojito ? offered something
for everyone, while late-night truffle fries
and instant noodles paid tribute to their
favourite shared indulgences.
065
The single-tier vanilla buttercream
cake, adorned with gold specks and
white florals, was as elegant as it was
understated. Cookies were shared in
honour of Nicole?s grandmother, who
could not attend but whose presence
was lovingly felt in every sweet gesture.
M OM EN TS TO REM EM BER
Among all the beauty and laughter, the
most memorable moment came as the
couple exchanged their vows. Spoken
from the heart and written by their own
hands, the words carried the full weight
of their journey ? the joy, the patience,
and the certainty of a love that had
grown with time.
A LOVE IN FULL BLOOM
As Nicole and Leslie look forward to
their next chapter, their advice to other
couples is simple yet profound: start
early, choose vendors who truly
resonate with you, and allow the
process to unfold naturally. Because, as
Nicole and Leslie have discovered, the
most beautiful moments are often the
ones that happen when love leads the
way.
Nicole and Leslie?s day at historic
Vancouver Club will be remembered
not only for its refined beauty but for its
reflection of who they are ? two
people who found in each other a
forever that feels as effortless as
it does extraordinary.

AUFGUSS
AETHERHAUS
VANCOUVER
073
A ETHERHA US VA NCOUVER | 1768 Davie Street
AAcross from Vancouver?s English Bay
Beach, a new chapter in wellness has
quietly begun.
AetherHaus, a thoughtfully designed
sanctuary blending ancient European
traditions with modern sensibility, has
redefined what it means to slow down.
More than a studio, it is a place to
belong? a space where the human need
for ritual, warmth, and community merges
into a single, immersive experience.
At the heart of AetherHaus lies the
ancient practice of Aufguss ? a German
sauna ritual that celebrates heat, scent,
and sensory release.
075
Here, it becomes a performance of
presence, guided by trained
masters who infuse aromatic water
onto sauna stones and circulate the
steam in rhythmic, deliberate
movements. Each motion has
purpose, each breath intention. It is
not a spectacle, but a
ceremony? one that invites guests
to feel, rather than simply do.
ROOTED IN TRADITION
The Aufguss ritual, originating in
northern Europe, has long been
cherished as a moment of renewal
and connection. In traditional
saunas, it was the Aufgussmeister?s
role to guide participants through
cycles of heat, steam, and essential
oils, transforming physical cleansing
into emotional release. AetherHaus
carries this legacy forward while
harmonizing it with Vancouver?s
distinct wellness culture.
The founders were inspired by more
than just the mechanics of heat and
breath. They were moved by the
cultural depth of the ritual itself? its
grounding in community and
hospitality. Drawing from the
Russian Banya?s social essence and
the precision of the German
tradition, AetherHaus honours both
warmth and connection, creating a
bridge between heritage and
modern well-being.
THE M EAN IN G OF AETHERHAUS
For Founder Kevin Frank,
AetherHaus was born from a desire
to create a refuge from the
performance-driven side of
wellness. Having worked in
Vancouver?s hospitality industry, he
envisioned a place that invited
guests to arrive exactly as they are.
?We created AetherHaus to
welcome everyone, not just the
hyper health-conscious,? he says.
?This is a space for people to simply
show up and experience the power
of stillness.?
The name itself is symbolic. Aether,
drawn from Greek mythology,
refers to the fifth element? the pure
essence the gods breathed. Haus,
the German word for ?house,?
evokes comfort and belonging.
Together, they capture the ethos of
this unique environment: a home for
the elements, and for human
connection.
Inside, the Himalayan salt sauna
glows warmly, the tea lounge hums
softly, and communal cold pools
invite both courage and calm.
Guests are encouraged to set aside
digital distractions, as phones are
not permitted ? an intentional
choice that ensures complete
presence.
077
THE RITUAL REDEFIN ED
AetherHaus sessions are structured to
balance freedom with guidance. The
90 - minute semi- guided format
allows guests to flow intuitively while
still being supported by the
expertise of their guides. Each ritual,
or Haus Session, is designed to
awaken a different part of the self.
The Haus Classic draws inspiration
directly from Aufguss, combining high
heat, darkness, and curated sound to
create an introspective space.
The Sound Journey immerses guests
in live music ? bowls, flute, guitar,
and percussion ? each vibration
encouraging deep relaxation.
For those seeking release through
movement, The Release blends
breathwork, gentle motion, and
vocal freedom to reset body and
mind.
Cold exposure is equally honoured.
Guided by certified instructors
trained in the Wim Hof method, the
AetherHaus Cold Plunge Program
introduces guests to the discipline
and serenity of cold-water
immersion.
Communal plunge pools, each at a
different temperature, are designed
for both individual and group use.
Built to City and Coastal Health
standards, they mark Vancouver?s
first purpose-built communal cold
plunge facility ? a benchmark for
safety, hygiene, and trust.
079
Program Director Dave Gu
describes the philosophy simply:
?The goal here isn?t to push or
perform. It?s to allow space for
people to be with themselves in a
state of calm, clarity, or whatever
they need at that moment.?
A N EW CULTURE OF WELLN ESS
General Manager M ika M cCann
sees AetherHaus as more than a
studio ? it is a movement.
?Our invitation is for each guest to
choose their own experience, to
explore at their own pace, and to
find what ?Aether?means to them,?
she explains. In this approach,
wellness becomes personal,
flexible, and deeply human.
Every aspect of AetherHaus
reflects intention: from the soft
lighting that mirrors twilight, to the
scent of organic flowers infusing
the air. Even the communal nature
of the space is deliberate ? a
return to the social origins of the
sauna as a gathering place. Here,
connection is rekindled not
through conversation, but through
shared silence, shared heat, and
shared stillness.
In a world that equates wellness
with achievement, AetherHaus
offers something rare: presence. It
reintroduces the body to ritual and
the mind to quiet? a reminder that
transformation does not always
require effort. Sometimes, it simply
requires being.
STEP IN TO STILLN ESS
For those accustomed to metrics
and movement, the idea of slowing
down can feel unfamiliar, even
uncomfortable. Yet within
AetherHaus, the stillness is not
stagnation ? it is strength. The
heat of the sauna, the plunge into
cold, the breath that steadies in
between ? these moments
connect us back to something
essential.
AetherHaus invites Vancouverites
to step beyond the routine of yoga
studios and spin classes, and into
the realm of ritual. To surrender to
sensation. To listen inwardly. To
rediscover what wellness can truly
mean when stripped of
competition and comparison.
Across from English Bay, amid the
sound of the ocean and the pulse
of the city, the doors of AetherHaus
stand open.
Inside, the elements converge ?
earth, air, water, fire, and
Aether itself? waiting to remind
you of what it feels like to be
fully present.
Step inside. Breathe deeply.
Welcome to the Haus.

In West Vancouver, where the
mountains descend into the Pacific
and coastal light dances across
tree-lined streets, an extraordinary
new residence has arrived to
redefine modern luxury. The estate at
140 5 ? 28th Street is not just a home,
but a living masterpiece ? an
architectural vision brought to life
with concrete, steel, and inspired
design.
From its elevated perch, the home
gazes southward over Burrard Inlet
and the West Side of Vancouver, yet
it retains the kind of serenity usually
found only in secluded retreats. With
its expansive footprint, resort-like
amenities, and graceful balance
between indoor and outdoor living,
this is a residence crafted for those
who seek privacy, beauty, and the
very best of West Coast living.
THE GRAN D ARRIVAL
The experience begins at the flat,
tiled drivew ay, leading to an
oversized two- car garage with
additional space for guests. A 10 - foot
entrance door opens into a grand
foyer where 11-foot ceilings and
surfaces clad in Sintered Stone,
walnut, and oak paneling
immediately set the tone. Exposed
drywall is rare here; instead, every
wall is treated as an opportunity for
refinement. Imported six-inch white
oak flooring grounds the main level in
natural beauty, while strategically
placed skylights and
floor- to- ceiling triple- glazed
German w indow s bathe each space
in natural light.
089
The foyer opens into a spectacular
Great Room crowned by a
steel-and-glass skylight. Here, a
six- foot fireplace anchors the space,
and a triple-glazed sliding glass
w all retracts to merge indoors with
the outdoor terrace. From this
vantage point, the views of the inlet
unfold like a living mural, constantly
shifting with the time of day and
season.
DESIGN ED FOR COM FORT
At the centre of the home is a
designer kitchen that blends function
with sculptural beauty. Sleek Italian
cabinetry opens at a touch, while
Sintered Stone countertops provide
the elegance of marble with
remarkable durability. A full suite of
M iele appliances ? from induction
cooktop to integrated coffee system
? ensures every culinary task feels
effortless.
For more ambitious entertaining, an
adjacent spice kitchen is outfitted
with a six-burner Fulgor gas range,
full fridge and freezer, and a sliding
window for ventilation. Together,
these kitchens create a culinary
domain worthy of a private chef,
whether cooking for a quiet family
dinner or an elaborate gathering.
091
The main level also offers a private
office with Italian cabinetry and a
hidden bar, a guest pow der room
clad in book-matched marble, and a
versatile family room that can
double as a library or seventh
bedroom. Every space is thoughtfully
integrated with SM ART home
features, from Sonos sound to
remote-controlled blinds, climate
systems, and ambient LED lighting.
RESTFUL RETREATS ABOVE
The upper floor is devoted to
five ensuite bedrooms, each with
generous closets, private balconies,
and white oak herringbone floors.
Two are full primary suites, each
south-facing and graced with
uninterrupted views of Burrard Inlet.
The principal suite is extraordinary:
a soaring ceiling, a custom feature
wall, and a spa-like bathroom with
soaker tub, double vanities, and
radiant lighting. A 90 0 - square- foot
private terrace, structurally
engineered to support a hot tub,
becomes a sanctuary in the sky.
The suite?s w alk- in closet is
equally indulgent, designed with
Italian shelving for shoes, purses,
and jewellery.
093
The second primary suite mirrors this
elegance, with its own balcony,
walk-in closet, and spa-like ensuite.
The remaining bedrooms ? eastand
w est- facing ? offer expansive
views, light-filled ensuites, and
thoughtful design touches that make
each space feel distinct and inviting.
A WORLD BELOW
Descend to the lower level and the
home reveals its most indulgent
surprises. Here, every wall is clad in
Sintered Stone, hardwood, or acoustic
paneling, transforming the basement
into a realm of leisure and
entertainment.
At the centre is a recreation room
w ith full bar, complete with mirrored
ceiling, temperature controlled wine
cellar, and a retractable screen for
casual viewing. The private theatre
is cinema-grade, featuring tiered
seating for seven, a 150 - inch screen,
surround sound, and LED lighting that
makes every screening an event.
A dedicated fitness studio offers
mirrored walls, rubber athletic
flooring, and a mounted television for
guided workouts. But it is the private
spa retreat that truly astonishes.
Designed with white oak, marble,
and ambient lighting, it includes a
ten-person dry sauna, a five-person
steam room with shower for a cold
soak, private massage room, tea
lounge, and private change areas.
In this sanctuary, wellness feels
integrated into daily life.
095
Completing the lower level is a
one- bedroom guest suite with
private entrance, offering its own
kitchen, living area, and access to the
pool terrace. It is a space perfectly
suited for extended family, guests, or
live-in staff.
OUTDOOR LIVIN G AT ITS FIN EST
The outdoor spaces rival those of a
resort. The 30 - by- 16- foot pool is
fully mosaic-tiled and sparkles under
the coastal sun, complemented by a
hot tub and surrounded by lush
landscaping. An 80 0 - square- foot
covered patio with integrated sound
ensures year-round enjoyment, while
terraces and artificial grass lawns
provide both elegance and
practicality. Professionally selected
trees and plantings frame the
property, creating privacy without
sacrificing light or views.
WEST VAN COUVER LIFESTYLE
Beyond the gates, the location
amplifies the appeal. This stretch of
28th Street is coveted for its privacy,
yet within minutes one can stroll the
West Vancouver Seaw all, shop and
dine in Dundarave Village, or enjoy
the sandy beaches that make this
part of the coastline so desirable.
Schools, golf clubs, and yacht
moorings are all within easy reach,
while downtown Vancouver is a short
drive across the Lions Gate Bridge.
097
099
It is a rare blend: a home that feels
both connected and secluded,
expansive and intimate, natural
and architectural.
AN ADDRESS OF DISTIN CTION
The residence at 140 5 ? 28th Street
is more than just square footage,
concrete, steel beams, or panoramic
windows. It is a statement of vision
and a celebration of West Coast
beauty, realized through design,
craftsmanship, and uncompromising
attention to detail.
For those who seek not only a home
but a lifestyle ? one that balances
retreat with connection, elegance
with ease ? this is an address of
distinction. In every respect, it
represents the pinnacle of modern
coastal living in West Vancouver.

ROLLS-ROYCE CHESS SET | Select Dealerships
R
R
Checkmate, darling. Rolls- Royce
has just unveiled what is quite
possibly the most decadent way to
spend your leisure hours indoors:
the Rolls-Royce Chess Set.
Priced at a breezy $52,116, this is
not your typical rainy-day pastime.
This is a showpiece designed for
those who take their games as
seriously as they take their bespoke
automobiles.
It is theatre, sculpture, and strategy
all wrapped into one gloriously
indulgent package.
107
Rolls-Royce has always had a way of
elevating life?s experiences, from gliding down
the boulevard in silence to sipping
champagne in the backseat while your
chauffeur handles the wheel. Now, they are
extending their mastery of ceremony and
craft to a pastime enjoyed by kings,
grandmasters, and tycoons alike.
With this set, chess is no longer a board
game. It is an event.
DRAM A IN EVERY DETAIL
The arrival of the Rolls- Royce Chess Set is
designed to feel just as dramatic as the
arrival of one of the marque?s legendary motor
cars. The board opens in a single theatrical
motion to reveal a finely upholstered holder
that slowly elevates, presenting the
magnetized pieces as though they are
taking a bow on stage.
Hidden drawers on each side of the board
add an element of surprise, each opening with
the lightest touch to reveal an extra
queen? because really, why settle for just one
when you can have more? The base itself,
clad in Rolls-Royce?s signature material and
rising gently from the centre, references the
marque?s waft lines, floating elegantly on a
narrow footprint.
Each piece has been painstakingly designed
to sit in perfect alignment, thanks to
concealed magnets beneath the board.
Rolls-Royce designers experimented with no
fewer than six different types of magnets
before settling on the perfect strength. The
result is chess with a sense of precision and
decisiveness that makes every move feel like a
royal decree.
109
PIECES FIT FOR A KIN G
The chessmen are not merely pieces; they
are sculptures. Each one has been
precision-crafted from ceramic-coated
aluminium, faceted into monolithic forms
that command attention. Their bases are
squared, echoing the geometry of modern
design, and each is topped with a
polished stainless-steel head that gleams
like jewellery under a spotlight. The tactile
coolness and solid weight of the pieces
are deliberately reminiscent of the organ
stops found in Rolls-Royce motor
cars? mechanical engagement at
its most satisfying.
The black pieces carry a satin finish, suave
and understated, while the white pieces
shimmer with a subtle iridescence. This is
chess, yes, but these pieces also belong in
an art gallery. One could almost imagine
them displayed under glass? though what
a shame it would be not to play.
M ATERIALS WITHOUT COM PROM ISE
Of course, it would not be Rolls-Royce
without exquisite materials that mirror
those used in its motor cars. The board is
available in four veneer combinations,
each cut with painstaking precision to
create a diamond pattern when viewed
from above. Veneer squares are laser cut,
then placed by hand, all from the same
log to ensure the wood ages uniformly.
Framing it all are polished aluminium
edges, with the Spirit of Ecstasy discreetly
affixed to front and back, a subtle nod to
provenance.
Choices abound for the indulgent buyer.
High- gloss Blackw ood w ith Ceramic
White and M acassar Ebony w ith Royal
Walnut make striking statements, while
open-pore Smoked Eucalyptus w ith
Paldao or Obsidian Ayous w ith
Blackw ood offer understated elegance.
Personalization does not stop at the
board. Clients can select from thirteen
Rolls-Royce upholstery colours for the
exterior and piece holder, ranging from
the demure Cashmere Grey to the
flamboyant M andarin or Peony Pink.
Tailored Purple, anyone?
Every set is meticulously hand-finished
after a year of design, engineering, and
experimentation. It is a triumph of detail, a
discreet masterpiece that transcends
function to become an heirloom.
Rolls-Royce insists this is more than just a
pastime; it is a contemporary work of art
in its own right.
A M UST- HAVE IN DULGEN CE
As N ick Abrams, Accessories Designer at
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, explained:
?We were inspired to create our own
Chess Set as a natural evolution of the
sense of hosting and occasion that defines
the Rolls-Royce experience. It serves as a
contemporary work of art in its own right,
as well as a practical, playable game.?
Translation? Rolls-Royce knows its clients,
and those clients expect nothing less than
perfection? even in their diversions.
111
This is not for everyone. But then,
nothing from Rolls-Royce ever is.
The Chess Set was conceived for the
select few who demand beauty,
precision, and presence in every corner
of their lives. It is a statement of leisure
elevated to an art form, where even
the hum of strategy comes wrapped in
finely tailored trim and the gleam of
aluminium.
So, is $52,116 a frivolous display of
wealth? Perhaps. But for Rolls-Royce
admirers, it is also a chance to bring
the marque?s legendary craftsmanship
into the home in a way that is both
intimate and indulgent. After all, what
better way to declare checkmate than
with a Spirit of Ecstasy watching over
the board?

BOWMORE X
ASTON
MARTI N
115
THE A PA RTM ENT | Holt Renfrew | Vancouver, BC
BLong before single malt became a
global symbol of refinement,
Bow more stood quietly on the
shores of Loch Indaal. Established
in 1779, it is the oldest distillery on
Islay and one of Scotland?s
earliest licensed whisky producers.
Yet, local historians believe the
craft began nearly a decade
earlier, passed down through
generations of islanders whose
knowledge of peat, barley,
and time shaped the soul of
Islay w hisky.
The distillery?s name, Bowmore,
is said to derive either from a
nearby reef or the Norse
?bogha mor,? meaning sunken
rock ? both a nod to the rugged
coastline that defines the island?s
spirit. For more than two centuries,
Bowmore has drawn strength from
the Atlantic, its stone walls
guarding the barrels maturing in
the legendary N o. 1 Vaults, where
sea air seeps through the cracks
and salt mingles with the whisky?s
deep amber hue.
117
CRAFTSM AN SHIP THROUGH TIM E
Each generation at Bowmore has added
a new layer to its character. In 1837,
William and James M utter expanded
the distillery from a humble local
operation into a thriving commercial
enterprise. Their innovations in
production methods ? many still in use
today ? set the stage for Bowmore?s
enduring reputation for quality and
consistency.
Ownership passed through several hands
and through each era, the distillery?s
essence? its devotion to craftsmanship,
patience, and the influence of the sea ?
remained untouched.
In the 1970 s, under the M orrison family,
Bowmore entered a new golden age.
The legend of the Seadragon emerged,
and Queen Elizabeth II herself visited in
1980 , marking her first-ever tour of a
Scotch whisky distillery. Later, the 1993
release of Black Bow more would
cement its legacy, becoming one of the
most sought-after collections in the
world of rare whisky.
ELEM EN TS OF PERFECTION
Bowmore?s mastery lies not only in its
heritage but in its unwavering respect for
the elements. Peat, extracted with care
for the island?s fragile ecosystems, is used
to gently smoke the barley.
This signature approach produces the
unmistakable Bowmore character ?
subtly peated, deeply complex, and
layered with flavour.

THE ASTON M ARTIN ERA
In 20 20 , two British icons united ?
Bow more and Aston M artin. Both embody
mastery of craft, innovation, and the pursuit
of excellence. Together, they embarked on
a journey that merged the artistry of
whisky-making with the precision of
automotive design.
This partnership has culminated in the
creation of Bow more ARC- 54, a whisky
that stands not only as a rare expression
but as a testament to time itself. Distilled in
November 1968 and aged for more than
half a century, ARC-54 represents the final
chapter in this visionary collaboration.
ARC- 54: THE FIN AL RELEASE
Bowmore ARC-54 is the embodiment of
54 years in a single moment ? an arc of
time captured within glass. Its decanter,
handcrafted with lyrical precision, evokes
the flow of air and the movement of the
ocean. Each curve reflects the balance
between energy and serenity, between the
enduring and the ephemeral.
On the eye, it reveals hues of spun gold. On
the nose, sweet vanilla, butterscotch, and
buttery shortbread unfold into tropical
notes of mango and peach ? a hallmark of
1960 s Bowmore distilling. Subtle whispers
of orange zest, toasted oak, and candied
walnuts linger, while the faintest trace of
eucalyptus mint invites curiosity.
The palate is a masterclass in harmony.
Green apple, bergamot orange, and lime
juice introduce the experience, followed by
salted caramel, ginger, and sweet
cinnamon. The finish is a quiet exhale of
Islay peat smoke ? gentle, graceful, and
enduring.
Bowmore ARC-54 is not merely a whisky; it
is a distilled narrative of resilience,
innovation, and time. From its founding in
1779 to its modern partnership with Aston
Martin, Bowmore continues to define what
it means to create something timeless. The
release of ARC-54 marks the culmination of
that journey ? an achievement that
captures the essence of craftsmanship and
the enduring spirit of Islay itself.
Recently, ARC-54 was showcased as part
of the Bowmore x Aston Martin installation
at Holt Renfrew, where it drew admirers of
design and heritage alike.
The rare expression was also featured in
the Layers of Infinite private tasting at The
Apartment, led by Bow more?s Global
Whisky Ambassador, James N eil ? an
experience that brought this extraordinary
final release to life for an audience of
discerning whisky enthusiasts.

A IRBLE | Vancouver, BC & A round the World
A
It is just past sunrise at YVR International
Airport. The tarmac glistens with a thin
layer of frost, reflecting the golden hues of
an awakening city.
The hum of jet engines echoes in the
distance, a steady rhythm to match the
pulse of early ambition. A business
traveller steps from the warmth of the
terminal, coffee in hand, breath visible in
the crisp morning air.
With a few taps on their phone, they
confirm their Airble charter ? a seamless
experience that transforms the
once-daunting logistics of travel into
effortless mobility. For this modern
professional, time is the ultimate currency,
and Airble is the trusted partner that
keeps business in motion.
127
A N EW ERA IN THE SKY
When Vancouver-based entrepreneur and
former pilot Saeed Golzar launched Airble in
20 22, he did not just create another booking
platform ? he revolutionized how travellers
connect with private aviation.
Airble was designed to streamline air charter
and air tour bookings, bridging the gap
between luxury, convenience, and
sustainability.
In only a few short years, the company has
evolved from a forward-thinking startup into a
recognized leader in regional air mobility,
earning the 20 25 Innovation Aw ard at the
BC Tourism Industry Aw ards.
A JOURN EY BUILT ON EXPERIEN CE
For Golzar, Airble is more than a business ?
it is a vision shaped by years of experience in
the cockpit.
With over fifteen years of versatile flying
experience, including flying time on the Airbus
A320 , Boeing M D83, helicopters and
seaplanes, Saeed combines hands-on aviation
expertise with strategic insight.
His background as Special Technical
Operations Coordinator at Air Canada Jazz
and an M BA uniquely position him to navigate
both the technical and commercial aspects of
modern aviation.
The idea for Airble first took flight in 20 19
when Golzar was piloting helicopters and
seaplanes across BC?s vast and varied terrain.
?I was in Whistler and needed to get to
Vancouver,? he recalls. ?With no ground
transportation or ride-sharing options
available, I realized there was no centralized
platform to browse or compare local air
operators and available aircraft. That moment
sparked the idea for an app.?
The following years were devoted to building
the foundation of what would become Airble
? tackling regulatory and legal frameworks,
consulting with Transport Canada, and
assembling a tech-driven team.
By 20 20 , development was underway. The
team focused on refining the user experience,
ensuring the interface was intuitive and
efficient. When the first end-to-end booking
was processed in 20 22, Golzar knew the
concept had reached cruising altitude.
IN N OVATION THAT ELEVATES
Airble?s technology continues to redefine how
travellers move ? combining digital precision
with environmental responsibility.
Its newly introduced booking widget
integrates seamlessly into partner websites,
offering real-time access to private charters,
last-minute empty-leg flights, and curated air
tour packages. Designed with a neutral
interface, it complements partner branding
while expanding customer reach.
As Golzar explains, ?Up to 40 % of charter
flights return home empty. By filling these legs,
we reduce emissions and increase revenue for
the operators.?
129
The Airble App mirrors this philosophy.
Created for simplicity and speed, it allows
users to browse, book, and board with ease.
With access to over 5,0 0 0 airports with
2,0 0 0 airports in Canada ? many closer
to home than major hubs ? it empowers
travellers to design their own schedules
for business, leisure, or last-minute
emergencies.
GROWTH WITH PURPOSE
Today, Airble?s team of ten professionals
operates with precision, passion, and
purpose. Their collective expertise spans
technology, operations, and
communications ? a lean structure that
fosters agility and creative
problem-solving.
As of August 20 25, Airble partners with
sixty- four total operators globally,
including thirty-six in Canada, twenty-four
in the United States, two in the European
Union, and one in Argentina. Expansion
continues as new operators embrace
Airble?s transparent, data-informed model.
Sustainability remains central to the
company?s mission, with a system that turns
unused flight capacity into opportunity for
both operators and passengers. As Golzar
emphasizes, ?We are building a model
where everyone benefits ? the operators,
the travellers, and the environment.?
131
THE POWER OF PARTN ERSHIP
Behind Airble?s platform lies a growing
network of trusted operators across
Canada, the USA, and Europe ? a
collaboration model that is reshaping
how aviation businesses work together.
Partnerships with Gulf Island
Seaplanes, N o Limit Helicopters in
Whistler, and Helijet have been
particularly instrumental in Airble?s
expansion.
- Gulf Island Seaplanes connects
travellers to British Columbia?s
coastal archipelago, offering
access to remote destinations
ideal for weekend escapes and
eco-luxury experiences.
- No Limits Helicopters caters to
adventure-seekers, providing
scenic charters over Whistler?s
alpine landscapes and quick
transfers to and from Vancouver.
- Helijet?s legacy in coastal air
transport has strengthened
Airble?s presence in BC?s business
and tourism markets, reinforcing
reliability and reach.
These collaborations illustrate how
partnership drives progress. Each local
operator brings specialized knowledge,
operational expertise, and a deep
understanding of BC?s unique
geography. Together, they elevate
regional tourism, promote economic
vitality, and offer a framework for other
industries seeking to combine
innovation with community connection.
CULTURE OF IN N OVATION
The in-house development team
continually refines Airble?s features
based on user feedback and data
analytics, ensuring the platform evolves
with market demand. This iterative
approach enables Airble to stay ahead
of trends in digital transformation,
traveller expectations, and aviation
regulation.
Golzar?s leadership underscores agility
and resilience ? qualities essential in
such a dynamic industry.
?Innovation is not a single achievement.
It is a mindset,? he shares. ?We listen, we
adapt, and we keep moving forward.?
THE BUSIN ESS IM PACT
Beyond convenience, Airble?s model
fuels regional economies. It enables
executive travel, incentive trips, and
destination experiences with ease while
helping businesses move efficiently
between markets.
The ripple effect is significant. Regional
airports gain increased utilization, local
aviation companies secure steadier
business, and tourism destinations
benefit from improved connectivity. The
platform encourages exploration of
lesser-known regions ? from
experiencing the aurora borealis in the
Yukon to w ine- tasting in the
Okanagan ? strengthening domestic
tourism and diversifying local
economies.
133
Airble?s partnership ecosystem also
fosters cross-sector collaboration.
Hotels, wineries, and adventure
operators can integrate the widget to
offer seamless travel-to-experience
journeys, setting a new benchmark for
convenience. This interconnected
framework offers a blueprint for other
industries aiming to merge technology
with regional growth.
A N EW STAN DARD IN TRAVEL
Airble represents the next evolution in
private aviation ? one defined by
transparency, personalization, and
purpose. It is a platform where digital
innovation amplifies connection rather
than complexity.
?Private aviation has long been
perceived as exclusive,? says Golzar.
?We are redefining that. We want to
make it attainable, understandable, and
impactful.?
For travellers, that means chartering a
flight to a business meeting, an
eco-retreat, or a coastal getaway can
now be as effortless as reserving a hotel
room. For operators, it signifies a new
era of visibility, efficiency, and
profitability.
Airble?s rise proves what happens when
vision meets precision. In just three
years, the company has bridged the
gap between technology and travel,
setting a benchmark for modern
aviation ? and inspiring other
businesses to innovate with intent.
As the aircraft descends toward its
destination, morning light spills across
the cabin, illuminating the horizon
ahead. The city below stirs to life ?
streets beginning to hum, the skyline
painted in soft amber tones.
The traveller closes their laptop, takes a
final sip of coffee, and feels that rare
calm that comes from being both
productive and unhurried.
When the wheels touch down, there is no
fatigue, no sense of time lost ? only
momentum gained. Stepping onto the
tarmac, they breathe in the crisp air of
a new city, ready to meet the day?s
challenges head-on.
With Airble, travel becomes more than
transportation; it becomes a seamless
extension of purpose, precision, and
possibility.

A SPIRIT OF BELON GIN G
On a recent summer journey
through Europe, FolioYVR brand
ambassador and LGBTQ+ influencer
Jan Van Vianen selected Hotel
MOTTO as his Viennese retreat.
His stay highlighted what sets the
property apart from many others in the
city.
?Arriving in Vienna for the first time, I
was struck by how immediately at ease
I felt at Hotel MOTTO. The soft light
coming through the tall windows, the
textures of the fabrics, and the care in
every detail made the room feel like
more than just a place to stay. There
was no pretense, just an open,
welcoming atmosphere that made me
feel part of the city from the very
start,? he shared.
The atmosphere of inclusion extends
beyond the guest rooms and wellness
spaces.
A key element of the Hotel MOTTO
lifestyle is its partnership with
Chez Bernard, a neighbouring
restaurant that has become one of
Vienna?s most dynamic dining
destinations.
Its cuisine is modern yet playful, with
rainbow-hued presentations and an
ambience that shifts effortlessly from
sunlit brunches to lively evening
gatherings.
For Jan, the connection between
Hotel MOTTO and Chez Bernard made
the experience complete.
?Chez Bernard reflects Vienna?s energy
at its best? progressive, colourful, and
full of life. Dining there felt like being
embraced by the city itself,? he
enthused.
The rooftop terrace, with panoramic
views of the city and surrounding
vineyards, further enhances the
appeal, offering an unforgettable
setting for cocktails and conversation.
Hotel MOTTO is more than a boutique
hotel. It is a celebration of
individuality, creativity, and belonging,
set against the cultural backdrop of
one of Europe?s most enchanting cities.
For travellers seeking a refined yet
welcoming stay, it provides not only a
place to rest, but a lifestyle to
embrace.
