EDITOR IN CHIEF

Georgia-Florida is here and we love the Dawgs, JAX and the Golden Isles!

Greetings from St. Simons Island, where wonderful

weather and hospitality awaits you if you’re heading

this way for the annual Georgia-Florida game. I’m not

kidding, it has been beautiful here on the coast, so jump

in your vehicle now and make the trip.

After all, because of the construction at EverBank Stadium,

Saturday’s game versus the Gators will be the last one in

Jacksonville until 2028. It is for that reason that we went nostalgic

for this issue’s cover. Legendary cartoonist Jack Davis did this

drawing in 1987. While the original headline simply said “We Love

Jacksonville,” Team BI felt that our beloved Golden Isles had to get

equal billing with The River City.

As most of you know, the majority of Georgia fans stay on Jekyll,

St. Simons or Sea Island. And rather than it being just a two night

stay, visitors often make a week out of the annual battle between

the Bulldogs and Gators. In these parts, basically Georgia-Florida

is an annual holiday. So let the festivities commence …

This issue of BI will certainly get you ready. My goodness, the BI

Camera went crazy for the Ole Miss game capturing 150 photos

(pages 32-62). Enjoy all those smiling faces from the thrilling

victory over the Rebels.

All our regular features are back in our Social section and like

with our cover, we are leaning heavy Golden Isles.

In Georgia Girls (pages 28, 29), enjoy getting to know St. Simons

Island resident Kiel Scates. She is married to Ryan Scates, who

does a great job with The Poor Man’s Game Notes. Ryan was also

a terrific Bulldawg Illustrated intern, while he was going to UGA.

And who knew that Kiel actually started at Georgia Tech. We will

forgive her for that because we know she is all Dawg.

If you are a golf fan, you will love our Proust Q&A (page 64) this

go around featuring PGA golfer and St. Simons resident, Keith

Mitchell. Not surprisingly, Keith had fun with his answers. And I

love how he used a verse from Rudyard Kipling’s “IF” regarding

double bogeys and birdies. Nice job, Cashmere. Thanks for your

participation.

Loran Smith is back in this issue with our Grand Georgia Families

featuring Atlanta and Sea Island resident Jim Nalley. It’s been

an exciting year for all the Nalleys because of the success of Mr.

Nalley’s grandson Slater Nalley, Jr on last season’s American Idol.

But like Loran touches on, don’t expect the notoriety to go to

the young man’s head because modesty runs deep in the Nalley

family. Thanks so much Mr. Nalley for talking with Loran.

Finally in our Social section, you definitely don’t want to miss

St. Simons native Pope Arline’s MIXTAPE selections (page 30).

Without a doubt, the songs he chose are perfect for the good

times that are about to commence this week in the Golden Isles.

He even gives the proper nod to Jacksonville by including three

straight Lynyrd Sknyrd. Nice job Pope!

Just like in our Social section, there are plenty of good nuggets

in our Sports section.

Jeff Dantzler (page 12) reminds our readers of the incredible

times our fans are enjoying with Georgia-Florida these days.

However, he also reminds us that the last time the game wasn’t in

Jacksonville were dark days for our Bulldogs. Yikes, the games in

Gainesville (1994) and Athens (1995) were brutally painful.

On page 69, Kevin Butler gives high praise to Georgia tight ends

Lawson Luckie and Oscar Delp for the incredible games they had

against Ole Miss. KB nails it by mentioning the Georgia duo with

his former coach, Mike Ditka. Particularly since their stellar play

occurred right around National Tight End Day.

Finally, you must read Greg Poole’s Old & In the Way column on

page 68. With great detail, Greg opines about the magnificent

game Gunner Stockton had versus Ole Miss. The Dawgs don’t win

the game without Gunner’s precise decision-making and moxie.

In my opinion, the best part of Gunner’s game is the joy he is

having when leading his team. This awesome photo by BI’s Rob

Saye certainly shows that jubilation.

Keep up the good work Gunner. The team will definitely need it

on Saturday in Jacksonville because you can bet these wounded

Gators are going to give our Dawgs their very best shot.

That’s going to do it for me. Like our covers says, we love

Jacksonville and the Golden Isles and encourage all good Dawgs

to get down here and enjoy the festivities one last time before the

two-year hiatus. Hope to see you soon … Go Dawgs!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUNNER!

JEFF DANTZLER

@jeffdantzlerTV

Soak up this Saturday’s Georgia-Florida game in JAX and

remember and rejoice the outcomes that have been so much

better than the last time a stadium renovation took place!

In the turbulent waters and rapidly

changing tides of college football,

the steadying hand of the game’s

premier head coach is a brightly

beckoning lighthouse of excellence and

stability.

With the transfer portal, Name-Image-

Likeness and all that has gone with it,

excellence and stability might be the

rarest of qualities in this day and age of

college football. And it has all happened

and changed mighty quickly.

Kirby Smart’s success and steadfast

leadership at Georgia has been Gibraltarlike,

keeping the Bulldogs amongst the

elite during these fluctuating times. Always

able to outwork and outrecruit - along with

Nick Saban - all the competition, Smart and

his staff assembled astoundingly talented

rosters in Athens, and the Bulldogs won

back-to-back national championships in

2021 and 2022, then finished 13-1, getting

slighted from the playoffs in 2023. You just

won’t see rosters like those Bulldog national

championship teams, or Alabama from

2020, or that amazing 2019 LSU team, or the

Florida championship squads assembled by

Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer.

Between 2021 and 2023, the Bulldogs

went 42-2. An incredible 36 or those

42 wins came by double digit point

differentials. Last season and midway

through this 2025 campaign, most

every game has come down to the

wire. The margin of victory around the

Southeastern Conference bears that

out. It’s a lot like the NFL, almost every

game is decided by a razor thin margin.

As for Georgia, think about the wins over

Kentucky and the Yellow Jackets, and the

loss to Alabama last year, the victories

over Tennessee, Auburn and Ole Miss,

and the loss to the Crimson Tide this

season. One play. In any of them, and it

sure could have been a different story.

But here Georgia is, reigning

Southeastern Conference champions,

involved in thriller after thriller, still in

contention. This year, by the way, marks

a ninth straight season that Georgia has

gone to Jacksonville either once-beaten

or undefeated. Smart’s Bulldogs have

won seven of the last eight meetings

with the Gators, and appeared in seven

of the last eight Southeastern Conference

Championship Games.

Billy Gonzales, longtime standout

assistant, is the interim and will be the

fourth different Florida head coach that

Smart has squared off against.

It will likely be a very close game.

Almost all of them are. The number of

games in the league determined by

exactly three points this season is eyeopening.

Last year, Georgia scored late,

got an interception and punched in a

clincher to prevail 34-20 over the Gators

in a tenacious battle. The win was the

Bulldogs fourth straight over Florida,

marking Georgia’s longest string of

victories in the series since winning six in

a row from 1978 through 1983. The scores

of Georgia’s wins over Florida from ‘21-’23

were 34-7, 42-20, and 43-20.

Flash back 30 years if you will, when

Georgia and Florida played in Athens.

That was the last time the old Gator

Bowl was renovated. The next two years,

the game will be played in Atlanta and

Tampa. Back in 1994 and 1995, these two

old foes played in Gainesville and Athens.

I was on the sidelines in my coat and tie

for most of the 1994 game in Gainesville.

It poured rain. The Florida student

section was merciless as we were getting

pounded. Ouch,Florida won 52-14.

So in 1995, it was 21-0 Gators Between

the Hedges less than six minutes into the

first quarter.. The final score was Florida

52, Georgia 17. Spurrier famously asked

if anyone had ever scored 50 against

the Bulldogs in Athens, and the Gators

punched one in late.

It was part of his vengeance for the

Bulldogs 27-10 victory over undefeated

Florida in his Heisman season of 1966.

Georgia and Alabama shared the SEC

title. Florida wouldn’t win its first until

Spurrier’s second season at the helm of

his alma mater in 1991.

Well, a young redshirt freshman

defensive back named Kirby Smart was a

part of that 1995 Georgia team. Two years

later, he intercepted two passes in the

Bulldogs 37-17 victory over Florida, which

halted a seven game losing streak to the

Gators. It was Coach Spurrier’s lone loss in

12 meetings against the Bulldogs.

At the Tuesday press conference after

the ’95 loss, a Georgia player was asked if

he felt the team had made its mandated

significant improvement. His response,

sticking up for all involved with Georgia,

was, “well last year it was 52-14, this

year was 52-17, so I guess that’s better.” I

remember thinking, oh man, at this pace,

at that rate, in another decade and a half,

we’ll have ‘em right where we want ‘em.

Winning seven of eight in Jacksonville

some day in the future seemed something

that could only be dreamed about.

So as the Bulldog faithful descend to

the Golden Isles and north Florida one

more time, before taking a two year

pause, this would be a good time to

reflect - before sharpening those vocal

chords for Saturday afternoon - on those

ebbs and flows of history. And how that

young redshirt freshman defensive back

on that dark night in 1995, very similar

to what Spurrier did for his, has delivered

unparalleled glory to his beloved alma

mater.

One of collegefFootball’s most storied rivalries renews Saturday

in Jacksonville, as the Georgia Bulldogs battle the Florida Gators at

EverBank Stadium, the old Gator Bowl.

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs head into the game ranked in the top ten

with a record of 6-1, and 4-1 in Southeastern Conference play. This

marks the ninth straight season under Smart’s watch that Georgia

has gone to Jacksonville either once-beaten or undefeated.

Florida is 3-4 on the year, and 2-2 in the SEC. The Gators will have

a new head coach Saturday. Florida parted ways with Billy Napier

following its 23-21 win over Mississippi State on October 18. The

Gators will be led by interim coach Billy Gonzales for the remainder

of the season. A longtime top assistant, this is his second stint in

Gainesville, and he has also coached at LSU and Mississippi State

in the SEC. He was a part of the Florida staff that won national

championships under Urban Meyer’s watch in 2006 and 2008.

Both teams, which per the norm over the last decade plus, are

heading to Jacksonville off of open dates. Both of these proud

programs also come in battle tested, having faced challenging

schedules.

Florida opened the season with a 55-0 win over Long Island

University, then embarked on a stretch of five straight games

against ranked opponents, including four consecutive contests

against top ten foes. The Gators were upset by South Florida 18-16

in Gainesville, and even though the Bulls are in the midst of an

outstanding season, the Florida faithful were restless. Combined

with the season opening win, and victories in the final four games

of the 2024 campaign, hopes were high for the Blue and Orange.

The Gators defense played great in Baton Rouge, but Florida

lost to then No. 3 LSU 20-10. Then came a 26-7 loss at then No. 4

Miami. The high point of the season thus far followed, as Florida

topped then ninth-ranked Texas 29-21. A trip to College Station

followed, and the Gators fell to then fifth-ranked Texas A&M. The

aforementioned win over Mississippi State marked Napier’s final

game as the Gators head coach, midway through his fourth season.

Georgia has been involved in a slew of thrillers thus far this

season, including comeback victories over Tennessee, Auburn and

Ole Miss. The Bulldogs lone loss came to Alabama on September

27. Georgia has won three straight since, including a heartstopping

43-35 victory over Ole Miss last time out on October 18.

Smart has led Georgia to wins over Florida in seven of the last

eight seasons. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 57-44-2.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH

BY: ANNA WILLIAMS/BI

MIKE BOBO (OC) - Georgia’s offense has been clicking so far

under Mike Bobo’s direction, and this rivalry is another test of his

play-calling skill. In last year’s matchup, Bobo’s balanced attack

kept Florida off-guard, producing explosive plays and long,

grinding drives alike. Expect him to lean on quick rhythm throws

and motion. With Gunner Stockton’s increase in confidence on

the field, Bobo’s ability to scheme the first few drives will set the

tone. The Gators have been challenged by tempo offenses and

misdirection, and Bobo’s success will depend on how quickly the

Bulldogs establish the run-pass balance and force Florida onto its

heels.

ZACHARIAH BRANCH

WIDE RECEIVER

ZACHARIAH BRANCH (WR #1) - Fresh into this rivalry, Branch is

in his first matchup against Florida, but has already made a name

for himself as one of Georgia’s top wide-outs. His speed, ability to

get vertical, and suddenness on screen plays give him a chance

to make big plays. Florida’s secondary has proved inconsistent in

man coverage, and Branch’s quick-release routes and stop-and-go

ability could create early separation. Expect Branch to test Florida’s

angles and get comfortable in the spotlight of a rivalry game.

OSCAR DELP (TE #4) - Delp is no stranger to this rivalry and

brings a polished presence to Georgia’s passing game. With

defenders often keyed on the wideouts, Delp’s role as a reliable

chain-mover and red-zone threat becomes more important. He

brings a balanced skill set to the field–physical enough to block,

fluid enough to make plays downfield. Florida’s linebackers and

safeties have shown vulnerabilities when tight ends exploit zone

drops, and Georgia should look to Delp in those spaces.

NATE FRAZIER (RB #3) - Frazier continues to build momentum

for Georgia. Not only is Frazier coming off a three-yard score

against Ole Miss, but he’s already proven he can strike against

Florida with a touchdown in last year’s matchup. In a rivalry that

often comes down to who wins the trenches, expect Frazier to be

heavily featured and wear down the Gators’ defense early.

OSCAR DELP

TIGHT END

CHRIS COLE (ILB #9) - On defense, Cole’s athleticism and

sideline-to-sideline speed make him a key piece in slowing

Florida’s dual-threat elements and screen game. While still

young, he’s earned snaps and shown his ability to read flow and

Herschel Walker had three incredible games against

Florida from 1980 through 1982, running for 238, 192

and 219 yards, while compiling eight touchdowns

(two through the air in ‘81).

When Georgia defeated Florida 10-9 in 1983, Darryl

Jones intercepted a pass on the one yard line,

and then John Lastinger directed an epic 99-yard

touchdown run to give the Dogs the lead.

Jake Fromm was the quarterback for Georgia from

victories over the Gators, highlighted by a three TD

performance in 2018.

attack space. In rivalry games, missed assignments become

momentum swings, and Cole will be tested on third-down

conversions. If he can maintain discipline on the open field, he’ll

be a difference-maker for sure.

CHRISTEN MILLER (DL #52) - Miller’s return from a lowerbody

injury in the Ole Miss game is timely for Georgia. His

interior push and ability to collapse pockets from the inside

help free up the linebackers and disrupt run-blocking schemes.

Florida’s offensive line has had moments of struggle, and Miller’s

presence can add a physical edge. If he shows full strength,

expect him to be a force in the trenches and help set the

physical tone for the Bulldogs’ defense.

CHRIS COLE

LINEBACKER

BRETT THORSON (P #92) - In rivalry games like this, field

position often determines momentum. Thorson’s accuracy and

ability to pin opponents deep give Georgia a special-teams

advantage. Should Georgia stall in the red zone or if early drives

falter, Thorson’s ability to flip the field becomes even more

critical. A well-placed punt could make the difference between

Florida starting with short fields and Georgia forcing longer

drives–and those longer drives favor the Bulldogs’ front seven.

GATORS TO WATCH

BY: MATTHEW HERREN/BI

DJ LAGWAY (QB #2) - The Gators’ quarterback was a Heisman

candidate at the beginning of the season, but his nine touchdowns

to nine interceptions ratio has held his offense back from their full

potential. With Billy Napier being fired last week, Lagway and the

offense will have to adapt to a new system on the fly against a Georgia

defense that is looking to bounce back after a poor showing against

Ole Miss.

JADAN BAUGH (RB #13) - The sophomore has been the workhorse of

the Gator offense, rushing for over 600 yards and four touchdowns this

season. He will have his work cut out for him against a Georgia defense

that is allowing less than 100 yards per game on the ground. Look for

Baugh to try and get the ground game going while Lagway settles into

the game through the air.

VERNELL BROWN III (WR #8) - This Gainesville native is playing in

his first Georgia-Florida game for the Gators. Brown III leads the team in

yards with 451 yards, but has not found the endzone this year. He will

have to find holes in the Georgia secondary for Lagway to make plays

down the field if the Gators want any chance in this game.

DALLAS WILSON (WR #6) - Wilson has 198 receiving yards and

three touchdowns, averaging over 15 yards per catch. In the Gators win

against Texas, the freshman scored two touchdowns and had over 100

receiving yards. Look for Wilson to be a difference maker for the Gators

with his deep threat against the Bulldogs’ secondary.

only seen the Bulldogs once in his career, he has the chance to slow

JORDAN CASTELL (DB #14) - Castell has led the way in the

turnover battle for the Gator defense with two interceptions, along

with 22 tackles. While Georgia’s offense has been efficient about not

turning the ball over, this game always sees strange moments, so keep

an eye on Castell as he tries to make Stockton give the ball away.

KAMRAN JAMES (DE #24) - The junior has 25 tackles and 2.5

THE

Five

Georgia vs. florida

BY: JEFF DANTZLER

1. 3-18 - From 1990 through 2010, Georgia went 3-18 against

Florida. Most of that destruction came under the watch of the

Gators two greatest coaches, Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer.

Spurrier posted an 11-1 record against the Bulldogs, while Meyer

was 5-1. Particularly stinging losses came in 2002 and 2003, when

Ron Zook-led Florida beat a pair of top five Bulldog teams. That

was two decades of misery, and a trail of tears coming back home

after Jacksonville losses. Which makes the incredible record of

Kirby Smart against the Gators so sweet. Georgia has won seven

of the last eight against Florida under Smart’s watch. Combine

that with a three game winning streak from 2011-2013 with Mark

Richt at the Georgia helm, and the Bulldogs are 10-4 against

Florida from 2011-2024.

2. Dawgs and Gators in SEC Championship Game - Between

1992 and 2023, the Southeastern Conference was split into two

divisions, the East and West, with the two winners squaring off in

the SEC Championship Game. With Spurrier leading the way, the

Gators played in the first five title tilts. Florida represented the

East 13 times overall. Georgia went to its first SEC Championship

Game in 2002, and the Bulldogs have been to 12 total, including

an astounding seven of the last eight under Smart’s watch (this

counts 2024, the first year of the SEC Championship Game

without the league being split into divisions). So of the 33 SEC

Championship Games, either Georgia or Florida has played for

the crown 25 times.

3.1997 - The Bulldogs, a 19-point underdog, beat Florida 37-17

in 1997. Jim Donnan was in his second year as Georgia’s head

coach, and led the Bulldogs to a 10-2 record and No. 10 national

ranking. Robert Edwards ran for four touchdowns, Mike Bobo

was the starting quarterback, and junior safety Kirby Smart

intercepted two passes. The victory broke a seven game losing

streak to the Gators and marked Spurrier’s lone loss to Georgia as

Florida’s head coach.

4. The Winds of Jacksonville - Yes the winds blow strong on the

mighty St. Johns River, and they get inside the old Gator Bowl

and furiously whip and whirl. Many great kickers and punters

have gotten sidetracked in this game. Special teams play a

big role in every game, but especially this one. Funny things

happen in the kicking game in Jacksonville. The Bulldogs boast a

dynamic duo of Peyton Woodring and Brett Thorson, and these

two tremendous weapons will need to be at their usual best for

Georgia to emerge victorious.

5. The (former) Landing - My first trip to the Jacksonville

Landing came in 1991. My only trip to the Jacksonville Landing

came in 1991. I was with my friends Jay and Ty. It was my

freshman year at Georgia. It was tremendously crowded, I mean

thousands packed into a space where hundreds needed to be.

There was more Orange and Blue than Red and Black. And they

were talking. On the second level, a group of Florida fans, with

the high ground, were talking smack with some Georgia fans

on the bottom. Well, a few minutes later, one of the Florida fans

poured a pitcher of beer on the head of one of the Georgia fans,

from a good 20 feet above. And then all the Florida crew went

into the Gator chomp. There were so many people between that

table and the stairs and eventually the upstairs table occupied by

those Gators, it would have taken an hour - at least - to have even

navigated to the spot of the pouring. The three of us looked at

each other and said, let’s get the hell out of here. We did. Then we

lost 45-13 the next day. Winning seven of the last eight has been

very nice indeed for the Georgia faithful.

FROM THE

T

he most resilient team in

the country once again

found a way to win. The

Dawgs down Ole Miss 43-35

in front of a sold-out Sanford

Stadium. Gunner Stockton

continues to prove that he

might be the best quarterback

and possibly a Heisman favorite

with five total touchdowns

and 348 yards of total offense.

With Colbie Young’s leg injury,

Zachariah Branch and Lawson

Luckie took over out wide

and will have to continue that

success down the road with

Young out indefinitely.

I want to give two different

people a lot of credit for their

performance against Ole Miss.

Both have faced way too much

criticism: Dillon Bell and Mike

Bobo. Bell has been up and

down during his time in Athens,

but he continues to find ways

to be effective on the ground

and through the air, most

notably with his 36-yard clutch

catch in the fourth quarter to

keep the Bulldogs on the field.

As for Bobo, he called another

unbelievable game and pulled

out a lot of tricks that fooled

the Rebels’ defense. Say what

you want about his play-calling,

but he knows what he is doing

and has this offense rolling at

any moment. It’s time to put

our full support behind both

Bell and Bobo.

It’s easy to put down the

team you just beat, but you

have to give Kiffin and the

Rebels a lot of credit. Before

this game, I thought Georgia

would cruise to a comfortable

win like we saw in 2023, and

honestly I thought Ole Miss’

previous No. 5 ranking was a bit

too high. However, they had an

unbelievable offensive scheme

and completely derailed a

Georgia defense that most

people see as a top defense in

the nation. Ole Miss scored a

touchdown on their first five

drives, and moved down the

field in whatever fashion they

wanted. But like we’ve seen

so many times this season,

Georgia’s defense found a way

to get stops at just the right

time on the way to victory.

INTERN

THEM DAWGS, LIKE TO KEEP THINGS INTERESTING!

This season has seen

improbable wins week after

week for the Bulldogs. One

week it seems like Georgia’s

strongest link is the defense,

then the next it seems like

the offense is unstoppable. If

the two strengths ever click

together, this team will find

themselves playing football late

into January.

But no matter what happens

this season, you can already see

that Georgia has the ability to

win any kind of game, whether

it be a shootout like Tennessee

and Ole Miss or a defensive

battle like Auburn.

After a much needed bye

week, the Bulldogs travel south

to Jacksonville for a matchup

with the Gators and yet another

interim coach after the firing

of Billy Napier. Florida comes

into this matchup also off a bye

and a key win over Mississippi

State to keep their slim bowl

hopes alive. While you might be

thinking that this game will be a

breeze, this classic rivalry never

disappoints. Both of these teams

certainly have experienced

opposite seasons, but once the

Bulldogs and Gators kick off

at EverBank Stadium that all

becomes irrelevant.

Hot Take of the Week:

Like I said earlier, Georgia’s

defense, while they rose at the

end of the game, was basically

embarrassed against Ole Miss.

However, the Rebels offense

is one of the toughest to play

in all of college football. With

that test over, Georgia faces a

much easier game with Florida.

My hot take of the week is that

Coach Smart and the Georgia

defense rally back to form and

shut out the Florida Gators en

route to a huge victory. Even

with the jolt of an interim staff,

this Florida team is facing a

cloudy future. Yes, I did say that

this game is always a slugfest,

but there’s no reason to believe

that Georgia’s defense can’t

completely shut down Lagway

and the Gators. With Stockton

and the offense leading the

way, let’s see if the Bulldogs’

defense can send the Gator

fans home early.

SPORTS

Once again, we are honored to have the great Frank Frangie

weigh in the Georgia-Florida game. Frank is a good friend

and one of the most talented talk show hosts and play-byplay

announcers in the business. He has a great football mind,

and knows this game and this rivalry as well as anyone. Frank

is the Voice of the Jacksonville Jaguars and hosts a wildly

popular daily radio show on 1010XL in Jacksonville.

BY JEFF DANTZLER

A VIEW FROM ...

Jacksonville

WHAT DOES FLORIDA NEED

TO DO TO WIN?

It would be awfully hard

for Florida to win this one.

The Gators just fired their

coach, are playing under an

interim coach, have struggled

mightily offensively and

now play one of the best

teams in America. The Gator

defense will keep them in it,

but as we’ve seen that only

lasts for so long. Last year,

the Gators hung around for

awhile in this one, but that

was a Florida team with a bit

of momentum. Not the case

this year. Their best chance

would be to run Jadan Baugh,

to somehow sustain timeconsuming

drives, stay close

into the second half and see

what happens. And you never

know if there is a renewed

energy now that the question

of whether Billy Napier would

be fired has been answered.

Maybe now they just relax and

play. With nothing to lose. But

it’s a long shot. The longest of

long shots.

THIS ERA OF COLLEGE

FOOTBALL, WITH THE

PARITY, ARE YOU SEEING

SOME SIMILARITIES TO THE

NFL?

Lots of similarities. More teams

are able to procure players,

pay players; players who aren’t

happy or playing much can

switch teams. It levels the

playing fields. There aren’t

great players on someone’s

second team any more. In

the past, Alabama’s second

team could beat Vanderbilt.

Nowadays, Alabama’s second

team players leave and wind

up on Vanderbilt’s team. The

result is more teams that are

good. And that is very much

like the NFL.

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON

THE BULLDOGS?

As I’ve said all along, nobody

has better talent top to

bottom than the Dawgs,

They are well-coached, deep,

athletic. I know Bama got

them at home, but part of that

is that the Tide just seems to

have Georgia’s number. I think

Georgia will be in the CFP and

make a deep run.

FROM A FLORIDA FAN’S

STANDPOINT, HOW IS

KIRBY SMART VIEWED?

The defensive version of

Steve Spurrier. Smart, quippy,

detailed, demanding, fun.

Just a terrific coach. And

like Spurrier at Florida, just

a Georgia guy through and

through. Nobody in America

has an outstanding coach that

fits its school like Georgia.

That is Kirby!

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT

TO THE THREE LEGENDARY

HEISMAN QBS, WILL YOU

HELP MAKE MY CASE THAT

WILBUR MARSHALL IS

STILL THE BEST FLORIDA

PLAYER I’VE EVER SEEN?

Wilbur might have been the

most talented Gator ever.

Receiver Wes Chandler in the

70s, receiver Percy Harvin in

the 2000s are on the ballot. All

three legendary quarterbacks

— Spurrier, Wuerffel and

Tebow — along with Emmitt

Smith, deserve to be called

the Greatest Gators ever. But

for sheer talent — Marshall,

Chandler, Harvin might be

the list.

WHO WILL BE FLORIDA’S

HEAD COACH NEXT

SEASON?

Taking the chalk here, but

I’m guessing Lane Kiffin.

Just too many reasons not

to believe it will happen. He

has been enamoured with

the job before, he patterned

himself after Spurrier, has

many family ties to the state

and to the school. I think Jeff

Brohm can get in play. Maybe

Eli Drinkwitz. But in the end, I

believe it will be Kiffin.

WHAT IS YOUR SCORE

PREDICTION?

Georgia 34, Florida 21. Gators

will be hyped and hang

around early. They usually do.

But the Dawgs are better and

have so much more to play

for. Close for two and a half

quarters perhaps. Not close at

the end.

I solidified my deep connection to music and the

joy it brings to everyone involved. I had a hunch for

years that my soul was born 40 years before I was,

the deep music heritage in Athens confirmed that

theory to be true! From concerts at the Georgia

music enriched environment of Athens, GA is one

that speaks directly to the soul! In more recent

times, I’ve been lucky enough to watch my dear

GRAND

Georgia Families

LORAN SMITH

Jim Nalley’s name is synonymous

with thundering success in the

automobile business. A mere

mention of “Nalley” to people across

the state of Georgia, especially in

Greater Atlanta, will likely get a reaction

such as, “I have driven one of his cars all

my life.”

He was one car dealer whom you would

never see promoting his products in

television commercials—but he was

nonetheless a resounding success for over

40 years. However, there was a quiet side

that reflected that he was more than just a

business titan.

It all began with his grandfather, C. V.

Nalley Sr., who opened a dealership in

Gainesville in 1918—the Dodge Brothers

distributor of Northeast Georgia. His

father, C. V. Nalley Jr., a great friend of

former Bulldog head coach Wallce Butts,

followed in the family business, enjoying

considerable achievement and paving the

way for the current C. V. Nalley, UGA Class

of ’65, to become a cleanup hitter in the

business. At the peak of his career, Nalley

III owned 22 franchises in Georgia (Atlanta,

Albany, and Brunswick), Charlotte,

Chattanooga, and Washington, D. C.

In 2002, he joined other dealers to

form the Asbury Group, a New York

Stock Exchange company that owned

75 dealerships across the country, with

him running the “Atlanta platform” until

he retired in 2015. In 2007, his three

boys organized the “Sons Auto Group,”

a business triumvirate which now owns

eleven franchises.

When the boys were coming along, he

required them to first get experience in

another business, and then they worked in

the family company in the summers, part

time, when they were in college.

If they eventually joined the family

business, which was their option, they

were required to work in parts, service,

and the body shop before they moved

into sales and management—literally

learning the business from the ground up.

Today, the patriarch’s role is that of

“Senior Advisor whose phone never rings.”

Knowing that your sons have formed a

flourishing business and that they no

longer need pop’s advice is, perhaps, the

most fulfilling professional highlight a

father can experience.

It also indicates that they were taught

and trained well and were eager listeners

who were “counseled well and never put

up wet.” “Like father like son” (or sons) has

never been more brilliantly displayed.

They will likely be chips off the old block

in following in their father’s footsteps.

That is good news for alma maters, local

charities, and community enhancement

opportunities.

Jim Nalley always supported charity,

lending a helping hand to his community

over the years—but he never took a bow.

Motivated by his engaging wife Rene, he

was a patron of the

arts, but he let others

be the beneficiaries

of applause and

tribute. He was

never the showoff

at school, growing

up in Gainesville,

the “poultry capital

of the world.” He

was never the life of

the party—he was

the anthesis of an

attention-getter.

On the golf course,

where he enjoyed so

many happy hours,

he never pouted

when he lost, always

offering sincere

congratulations to

his opponent. There

was never a good

sportsmanship

protocol that the

senior Nalley didn’t

embrace. Like

George Washington,

if he had cut down

an unauthorized cherry tree, he would

have owned up to it.

When the football coach at his alma

mater, the University of Georgia, failed

or was failing, he neither organized an

epithet-shouting vigilante party among

his circle of friends nor clamored for a

change. He preferred to be less spoken

than outspoken. The only time he has

been eager for his photograph to be taken

is when it involves his family.

In fact, you won’t get much out of him

if you ask about the dozens of boards he

serves on, the more than 10 schools and

colleges he has supported, the various

alliances he has joined in the automobile

dealer world, or the countless charities he

supports—but ask him about his family,

principally his children and grandchildren,

and his smile could light up Six Flags on a

summer evening.

Over the years, you could find him at

cultural events, again happily yielding

to the influence of Rene, as well as at big

games Between the Hedges. He loves it

when Kirby Smart’s charges illuminate

the scoreboard in Sanford Stadium but

also revels in one of UGA’s milestone

achievements, such as being a top-ranked

academic institution in the country.

Business success has afforded him

travel options that have become a staple

of his annual routine, spending time at

their Meuse House in London along with

vacation excursions to Provence and

playing the best golf courses around the

world.

You can find him at signatory UGA

events, including big games in Sanford

Stadium, charity balls, and, most of

all, family events with his children and

THE NALLEYS

Clay Nalley, Slater Nalley, Jim Nalley, Street Nalley

grandchildren. You might see his son, Clay,

with his two boys at Add Drugs in Five

Points and find most of them Between

the Hedges— with the exception of

Slater and his family. With no intended

offense to anyone, he decided to break

family tradition and enroll at Ole Miss. It

was solely his choice to “do something

different.”

When Chase Nalley graduates from UGA

in 2026, he will be the fourth generation

C.V. Nalley to have qualified for a diploma

from the University of Georgia, a point of

pride for the Nalley clan.

The Nalley family has always been

well-rounded, and suddenly they are

all embracing something new—pickin’

and singin.’ Slater Nalley Jr., a precocious,

dyed-in-the-wool football fan who has

played many touch games where the

family parks for Georgia home games,

has already put down roots in Nashville

where he is embarking on a music career

after finishing in the top 5 in last season’s

American Idol.

Slater has already signed a careerboosting

contract with Warner Music

Group, enjoying his new life in Music City

while keeping Georgia on his mind. The

family tradition dictates that emotion

remains intact.

His head-turning success has excited all

in the Nalley family, especially Jim and

Rene, who appreciate most of all that their

grandson is a “good guy.”

“Slater’s future is off the charts,” says Rob

Moran, a movie producer living in Atlanta.

“He is a remarkable talent.”

Rave review is not likely to turn this

young man’s head, however, since

modesty trumps ego. After all, he is a

Nalley.

PROUST

Q&A

COMPILED BY: VANCE LEAVY

NAME: Keith Mitchell

FAMILY: Wife: Claire

HOMETOWN: Chattanooga, Tennessee

CURRENT TOWN: St. Simons Island, Georgia

WHAT YEARS AT UGA: 2010-2014

SCHOOL/DEGREE: Terry, Real Estate

PROFESSION: PGA Tour Player

ACCOLADES: 2011-2012 UGA Men’s Golf Team Anchor

Award (Lowest GPA on the team for the year)

WHAT LIFE LESSONS DID YOU LEARN WHILE AT UGA?

Most importantly, learning how to balance work and life. My

work may not be traditional work, but as a teenager in a town

like Athens and having to compete against the best college

golfers in the nation, you have to learn your priorities, or you’re

sitting on the bench. I think the atmosphere the UGA coaches

created is the main reason why we have more success stories

than other schools at the professional level.

WHAT PROFESSOR DID YOU MOST ADMIRE?

Coach DeMoss: Current UGA Assistant Men’s Golf Coach,

Professor of all things strategy, preparation, and mentality.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST

ACHIEVEMENT?

Graduating from UGA and marrying my wife! (Not in order)

WHICH HISTORICAL FIGURE DO YOU MOST

IDENTIFY WITH?

Thomas Carlyle: quite confused but if you look hard enough,

sometimes insightful?

WHO ARE YOUR HEROES IN REAL LIFE?

My dad and my grandfather. My dad taught me the game of golf

at a young age, and I looked up to grandfather on how he lived

every second of every day with 100% enthusiasm.

QUOTE TO

LIVE BY:

Very applicable

to my profession

… considering

a double bogey

or birdie can be

waiting on the very

next swing.

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS?

An old bottle of Bordeaux, great friends, and better stories.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST MARKED CHARACTERISTIC?

Attention to Detail.

WHAT DO YOU MOST VALUE IN YOUR FRIENDS?

How good they are at giving each other a hard time.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT

YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Make a few less bogeys!

Keith Mitchell

WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE WRITERS?

Thomas Carlyle, Bob Rotella, and Ben Franklin. The only books

I’ve completed are Sartor Resartus and a few of Dr. Bob’s golf

books, and about half of Ben Franklin’s autobiography.

FAVE SOCIAL MEDIA AND WHO TO FOLLOW?

@‌Howlinone: great vintage golf hats for sale.

@‌Short Game Chef: my short game coach with lots of good tips.

@‌NotoriousFoodie: dishes I wish I could eat, let alone cook.

@‌UGAGolf: the best way to keep up with the future Georgia

PGA Tour Players.

Tennessee -3.5 over Oklahoma

Saturday, Nov. 1, 7:30 PM

‌Purdue +21.5 over Michigan

Saturday, Nov. 1, 7:00 PM

Neyland at night tells me all I need to know about

this one. The Volunteers come into this matchup

after rolling past Kentucky on the road. Oklahoma

just let one slip away last weekend against Kiffin

and the Rebels. Rocky Top will be out in full force

as Tennessee clings to their CFP hopes. Roll with

Tennessee -3.5 over the Sooners.

‌Duke +3.5 over Clemson

Saturday, Nov. 1, 12:00 PM

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers have been one of the

biggest disappointments in college football. There

doesn’t seem to be much life with Klubnik’s injury

and overall struggles at the quarterback position.

The Blue Devils nearly pulled off an upset against

Georgia Tech, so a bounce back win will help Duke

get one step closer to being bowl bound. Roll with

Duke +3.5 over the Tigers.

This might be a longshot pick, but anytime I see a

Big Ten game with a high spread, it’s worth a look.

Purdue has lost six straight games, but Michigan

has only won by three touchdowns or more once

this season. Underwood and the Wolverines

will win this one, but I think Purdue covers in a

low-scoring battle. Roll with Purdue +21.5 over

Michigan.

‌Mississippi State +4.5 over Arkansas

Saturday, Nov. 1, 4:00 PM

I’m surprised that Arkansas continues to be favored

while being one of the worst teams in the SEC.

The Maroon Bulldogs nearly took down Texas last

weekend in what would’ve been their biggest win

in quite some time. The Razorbacks don’t seem

to have much direction after firing Pittman a few

weeks ago. Though Arkansas is at home in this one,

I think Mississippi State at least covers this line, if

they don’t win outright. Roll with Mississippi State

+4.5 over Arkansas.

‌Texas -2.5 over Vanderbilt

‌SMU +10.5 over Miami

Saturday, Nov. 1, 12:00 PM

Say what you want about Texas and Arch Manning,

but they have found ways to win since their loss to

Oklahoma. This is another team that can’t afford

to lose again if they want to make the CFP. While

Vanderbilt is one of the nation’s best stories this

season, I think Sark and the Longhorns do just

enough in what might be a low scoring game. Roll

with Texas -2.5 over Vanderbilt.

This one screams trap game. Carson Beck and the

Hurricanes sit at 6-1 and at No. 10 in the AP Poll,

but they have not exactly impressed me this year.

SMU can put up points in a hurry, and it’s always

tough for a highly ranked team to go on the road at

noon and fully take care of business. While Miami

probably does enough to leave Dallas with a win,

the Mustangs have it in them to keep it close. Roll

with SMU +10.5 over Miami.

TOP 12

JD’S

BY: JEFF DANTZLER

Well, two of the three months of college football season will be in the rear view

mirror when everything kicks off Saturday. It just flies by. The past weekend, the

SEC took center stage. In seven intra-conference games, five were decided by single

digits. And my goodness the Aggies looked great.

1. OHIO STATE - The Buckeyes were off this past

Saturday and figures to be on point for the matchup

with Penn State - wow, what a story there - in

The Horseshoe. The Ohio State defense has been

dominant. In the Buckeyes seven victories, the most points

they’ve allowed is 16.

2. TEXAS A&M - The Aggies were the most

impressive team in the country this past weekend,

dominating LSU 49-25 on Saturday night in Tiger

Stadium. They can enjoy the open date this coming week, then

it’s off to Mizzou. This Texas A&M offense is awesome, and the

defense makes big plays.

3. INDIANA - Well, Indiana might have been the

second most impressive team in the country this

past weekend. I get it, this isn’t UCLA’s finest hour,

but the Hoosiers shellacked the Bruins 66-6. Next up

is a trip to Maryland. Curt Cignetti has done an amazing job in

Bloomington and is a hot commodity.

4. TECH - The best team in the ACC was in peak

mode against Syracuse, defeating the Orange 41-16.

Haynes King is having a phenomenal year and is on

the way to being ACC Player of the Year. Next up for

Yellow Jackets is a trip to N.C. State. Tech was last 8-0 in 1966.

5. ALABAMA - The Crimson Tide cashed in on two

huge turnovers, one early and one late, and beat South

Carolina 29-22 in Columbia. They keep finding ways. Ty

Simpson has been terrific at quarterback. And they have

receivers. Alabama will be off this week, then it’s LSU at Bryant-Denny.

6. OREGON - The Ducks were a little sleepy, but

survived an upset bid from struggling Wisconsin,

topping the Badgers 21-7. Their lone loss is to

Indiana. Dan Lanning’s team is off this Saturday,

then heads to Iowa City for a big one against the Hawkeyes. It

might be a little chilly.

7. GEORGIA - The Bulldogs were off this past week

and now tangle with the old nemesis, Florida, which

also had a bye. The Gators have an interim coach and

nothing to lose. Georgia is still in the middle of the

fight for everything, dreaming of the CFP.

8. OLE MISS - In one of the best games of the day,

Ole Miss beat Oklahoma 34-26. The Rebels offense is

very tough to defend, and the defense made some

huge negative yardage plays against the Sooners.

This looks like a playoff team, with the lone loss at Georgia. The

Gamecocks head to Oxford Saturday.

9. VANDERBILT - It was an all-timer win for the

Commodores, who edged Missouri in a 17-10 Music City

nail biter. Diego Pavia is the star, just a terrific quarterback.

Clark Lea’s defense is tough and can really run. Vanderbilt

is 7-1 and heading to Austin for a big one against the Longhorns.

10. MIAMI - The Hurricanes beat Stanford 42-7 this

past weekend, improving to 6-1 on the year. They take

on SMU Saturday in Dallas. The Mustangs could give

Miami trouble. The Hurricanes defense is talented. They

have a bunch of guys who fly to the football. The offense boasts

playmakers.

11. BRIGHAM YOUNG - The Cougars are having

a tremendous season, and off to an 8-0 start for a

second consecutive year. The 41-27 win over Iowa

State was very impressive. BYU is off this week, and

then it is off to Lubbock for a huge showdown with Texas Tech in

a battle of the two best of the Big XII.

12. NAVY - The Midshipmen are undefeated and

sitting atop the standings in the tough American

Conference. They head to North Texas Saturday.

There is lots of heavy lifting to do with Notre Dame,

Memphis, South Florida and of course Army. The offense was

sharp last week in a 42-32 win over Florida Atlantic.

Old & In The Way

Georgia didn’t panic; it recalibrated.

There is a difference and Gunner

Stockton drew it in a thick Sharpie over

the final two quarters against Ole Miss.

Down, dinged and facing a Lane Kiffin

script that had been humming earlier, the

Bulldogs chose the mundane superpower

that flips games in the SEC: quarterbackled

organization.

Stockton didn’t need a cape; he needed a

wristband, a cadence, and the conviction

to get the call in, get the look he liked,

and put the ball where the math said it

should go. This was management in the

best sense of the word—clean hands,

calm eyes, and an offense that snapped

on his count, not on the chaos around it.

The comeback started with small

decisions that looked boring on television

and felt enormous on the field. A

protection slide off a late safety tilt. A

hard count that forced Ole Miss to declare

its pressure, then a quick check to a

boundary concept to punish the tell. The

tempo changes were subtle but lethal:

bleed the play clock to let shifts and

motions do reconnaissance, then steal

a first down with hurry-up before the

Rebels could reset their picture. Stockton

lived in that in-between space where

quarterbacks either get flustered or get

forensic. He nailed the latter. Georgia’s

receivers saw it, the line felt it, and the

Rebels’ defense slowly realized they

weren’t dictating anymore—they were

reacting.

The drive sequencing matched the

moment. Early downs trimmed the menu

to the hits, efficient runs, safe access

throws, and those high-percentage

isolation routes that turn second-andeight

into third-and-three. Third downs

became Stockton downs, and you could

see his ownership in

the body language:

taking the flat when

the leverage was

wrong for the slant,

shuffling the back

to clean up edge

pressure, trusting

the middle of the

field when Ole Miss

overplayed the

sideline. He wasn’t

chasing hero shots;

he was hoarding first

downs. That’s how

you erase a deficit

without erasing your

identity.

And when the

pocket wasn’t

a pocket, he

extended the down

without sacrificing

the drive. The

difference between

scrambling and

advancing is intent.

BY GREG POOLE

GUNNER BALL IS FUN TO WATCH, NEXT STOP JACKONVILLE!

Stockton moved to reset sight lines,

not to audition for a highlight. He kept

his shoulders square, eyes alive, and

the ball safe. A throwaway on second

down can be a winning play when the

alternative is a sack that detonates your

script. He understood that trade. That’s

quarterbacking—two parts chess clock

management, one part crowd control,

and a dash of stubborn optimism.

Credit, too, to the staff for giving him

answers. Georgia married its base runs to

keeper looks and quick-game tags that

let Stockton punish edge greed. When

Ole Miss declared man, the Bulldogs used

stacks and motion to create free releases.

When they spun late to zone, Stockton

took the grass in front of him. Nothing

revolutionary, yet everything was effective.

The comebacks that last aren’t built on

trick plays; they’re built on a quarterback

who turns the ordinary into inevitability.

Then the fourth quarter belonged to

a Georgia defense that looked tired of

being polite. Ole Miss had been nibbling,

probing, trying to win with pace and

angles. The Bulldogs closed the buffet and

locked the pantry. You could feel the shift

at the line: first-step violence from the

front, disciplined hands on the edge, and

interior fits that took the oxygen out of

the inside zone. Ole Miss’s run game lost

its downhill and its bounce; everything

started to string sideways, and sideways is

where Georgia brings the cavalry.

And when the Rebels did break contain

into the red zone, the Bulldogs shrank

the playbook to a postage stamp. The

front sat low in their hips, denied push,

and let the back judge keep his flag in his

pocket because there was no separation

to litigate. Edge players set a hard wall on

the quarterback keep. Safeties triggered

downhill as if fired from a starter’s pistol,

taking away the easy throws that pad

completion stats and egos. Field goals

in comeback time feel like IOUs; Georgia

kept cashing them.

KEVIN BUTLER’S

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

COMPILED BY HAMILTON CULPEPPER

OFFENSIVE PLAYER

Gunner Stockton - The junior from Tiger, Georgia continues his march

toward an SEC championship and can you believe it, the Heisman trophy!

That’s right folks, the Heisman Trophy. With another solid performance,

Gunner led the Georgia Bulldogs to a home victory over the No. 5 ranked

Ole Miss Rebels in Athens. His performance was one of his best yet as

Gunner completed 26-of-31 passes for 289 yards and four TDs. Lane Kiffin

was anticipating a performance by his quarterback much like Gunner

delivered for the Bulldogs, but that did not happen Between the Hedges.

Gunner is a Bulldog through and through and is quietly becoming one

of the most efficient quarterbacks we’ve seen at Georgia in a long time.

Now, Gunner has the opportunity to entertain the World’s Largest Outdoor

Cocktail Party versus the hated Gators.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER

Josh Horton - The game versus the Rebels was a battle on defense

for both teams. The Rebels entered Athens averaging 515 yards per

game, converting almost 50% of their third down conversions, which

has been a great challenge for Georgia. Saturday our defensive player

showed up as usual playing with grit and determination and never

giving up. There was CJ Allen, KJ Bolden, Daylen Everette and Joel

Aguero playing hard all game. The crowd inspired our defense to never

give up and when we needed one play to end the game, Josh Horton

got an opportunity and made the best of it on fourth down and 10 on

Ole Miss’ 35-yard line. Josh pushed his way up, got up in the air and

blocked their final attempted pass to end the game for the Bulldogs

with a tremendous victory Between the Hedges. When we need a big

play, we know we can count on our defense and Josh made it happen

for us.

SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER

Peyton Woodring - There’s really not much to say about Peyton except

another spectacular game. His kicking consistency is truly separating

himself in the long list of great Georgia kickers. Peyton came through

Saturday with three field goals and each one got bigger as the game

went on in a true US open tennis match-like game. Going the distance

back-and-forth and back-and-forth, waiting for somebody to break serve,

Peyton gave us that opportunity when the defense finally stopped the

Rebels and Georgia started to separate themselves on the scoreboard.

Payton is a tremendous weapon and let’s not forget—Gunner is a

tremendous holder as he made a spectacular catch and hold to help

Georgia take three every time the Rebs couldn’t get seven.

UNSUNG HERO OF THE GAME

Tight ends - October 18 was National Tight End Day. Most people don’t

realize this national day of recognition, but tight ends certainly do. On

this day we celebrate Mike Ditka’s birthday, one of the greatest tight

ends to ever play the game. The brotherhood of tight ends certainly

dominated the field for the Bulldogs. Our Unsung Heroes, Oscar Delp

and Lawson Luckie, honored Coach Ditka and all tight ends with a

tremendous performance both on the ground and through the air.

Georgia’s tight end duo combined for nine catches and 85 yards and

continued to dominate blocking on the line of scrimmage. As Bulldog

Nation has learned, tight ends are important for two things: winning

football games and looking good on the dance floor. Our boys did both

against Ole Miss, and I’m sure cut the rug on the dance floor that night.

Great job boys and I know Coach Ditka is awfully proud of his tight end

nation.

STATS THAT

MATTER

GEORGIA - 43, OLE MISS - 35

BY: ANNA WILLIAMS/BI

A look back at what decided the game between Georgia and Ole Miss.

1ST- MEETING BETWEEN THE TWO PROGRAMS DATES

BACK TO 1904

The first recorded matchup between Georgia and Florida came

on October 15, 1904, when the Bulldogs shut out Florida 52-0.

However, Florida does not recognize that contest as an official

game, since the team then was not represented by the modern

University of Florida. The first meeting acknowledged by both

schools came in 1915, and Georgia won that one too–37-0.

Regardless of which record book you follow, history leans

heavily toward the Red and Black, with Georgia holding a

commanding edge in the all-time series.

4- TOUCHDOWNS FOR GUNNER STOCKTON

In his most recent game, quarterback Gunner Stockton

delivered a career-high four touchdown passes against Ole

Miss, completing 26 of 31 throws for 289 yards. His poise and

accuracy helped the Bulldogs roll to another SEC win, and his

confidence under center continues to grow with each game.

If Stockton maintains that rhythm, Georgia’s offense will

have a strong chance to keep Florida’s defense on its heels in

Jacksonville.

4- STRAIGHT WINS AGAINST FLORIDA

The Bulldogs have dominated the rivalry in recent years,

winning four straight over the Gators and outscoring them

by an average of 22 points per game. Another victory in

Jacksonville would make it five in a row, inching Georgia

closer to the program’s longest streak in the series—seven

straight wins from 1978 to 1984.

33- POINTS PER GAME

Georgia’s offense continues to hum behind a balanced

attack averaging 33 points per contest. The Bulldogs have

done it without relying solely on one phase—Stockton’s

efficient passing has complemented a ground game

averaging more than 200 yards per outing. Against a Florida

defense that has allowed more than 27 points in three of its

last four SEC games, Georgia’s ability to control tempo and

sustain drives could be the difference.

70.4- COMPLETION PERCENTAGE FOR GUNNER

STOCKTON

Stockton has been on a roll through the air this season,

completing 70.4 percent of his passes—good for one of

the top marks in the SEC. His quick decision-making and

composure have allowed Georgia’s receivers to thrive in

space, especially tight end Lawson Luckie. If Stockton stays

this efficient against Florida’s secondary, it could spell

trouble for the Gators.
