Get winter ready

with Mudfords

Founded in 1832, Mudfords originally

started out as a rope maker.

Today, Mudfords is a manufacturer

and supplier of a large range of

equipment and products suited

to the Transport and Construction

Industries. The company was

incorporated into the Stuart Canvas

Group in 2018.

From barrier fencing to rope,

sandbags, netting, lifting slings,

ratchet straps, tarpaulins, bespoke

covers, retractable tunnels, container

shelters and signage, Mudfords

is well trusted and a leader in

the industry with over 100 years

of knowledge and experience

in producing such high-quality

products.

As we head into Winter, Mudfords

offer a number of products that are

versatile in their uses. Four products

worth noting for this time of year are

Hessian Rolls, Insulated tarpaulins,

Sandbags, and Jute Sheets.

Hessian is offer in a range of sizes

in both rolls & and folds. Hessian is

used to protect freshly laid masonry.

The natural hessian is able to

protect brickwork against frost and

rain damage. It can also be used a

biodegrade alternative to privacy

fencing.

Inclusive design

unlocks creativity

There is growing recognition that

we all perceive the world differently

and that to thrive, we need to create

spaces that meet everyone’s needs.

However, the concept of inclusive

design often conjures up a notion of

compromise that curbs creativity and

leads to uninspiring solutions.

A new guide from Tarkett ‘Human

Conscious Design Principles’ is

tackling this misconception & argues

that designing with specific needs in

mind can, in fact, unlock creativity.

That, by interrogating the different

ways in which we experience and

interpret our surroundings, designers

are encouraged to explore new ideas

and solutions that they may not

otherwise have considered.

Mudfords

offers three

different types

of Insulated

Tarpaulins: base range economy;

mid-range standard; and premium

insulated tarpaulins. Mainly used in

the construction industry to regulate

temperature during transportation

around the country, they can also

be used for concrete curing or as an

extra insulation base in a building or

garage.

Sandbags are a great way to

combat any potential flooding and

come in three varieties: Hessain;

Polypropylene; and Rotproof.

Hessain are strong and durable

and as they have a low intake of

water, they have a longer-life span.

Polypropylene are a cheaper choice

and more catered towards lightweight

use and equipped with antirotting

protection for durability. Jute

Sheets are rough and absorb water

readily meaning it dries fast. It is

resistant to abrasion and staining and

mainly used in construction but can

also be used as a protective sheeting

over tarmacadam keeping it warm

and malleable while being laid.

Groundbreaker: Changing water infrastructure

‘By 2050 the UK water deficit is anticipated

to be 4,017 mega litres per day.’

Since this announcement in January

2022, major water companies have been

developing plans to upgrade the UK’s

water supply and reduce current usage

from 150 litres per person per day to 110.

Groundbreaker will be a major contributor

to this new infrastructure. Surface mounted

metering and flow reduction are integral

parts of major water companies new plans,

and Groundbreaker’s unique product are an

essential part of the new style infrastructure.

Smart meters

Thames Water has recorded domestic water

savings of 12-17% following smart meter

installation. Now other UK water companies

are following suit.

New meter location policy

Unitied Utilities have

recently announced that

the most effective method

of installing the advanced

metering infrastructure is to

use Groundbreaker’s water

management system. This

locates the meter above

ground, providing a better

environment for smart

technology over traditional

underground boundary boxes, extends

signal transmission and allows easy meter

exchange.

Designing out leak paths

The unique location of

the Groundbreaker water

management system

future proofs the network

and minimises the risk of

developing future leaks. The

position of the meter allows

for an unjointed water supply,

hence maintaining the integrity

of the supply. The use of an

uninterrupted supply has been

recognised as best practice

by Water UK and the Home

Builders Federation.

Water Management

Water efficient homes

Water efficient homes are essential to reduce

consumption further. In all new properties,

developers will be encouraged to design

in water conservation measures, including

the installation of a flow regulator. These

modulate the flow entering customer

premises, so limiting the amount used by

the customer. Without a degradation of

service or any behavioural change, there is a

‘natural’ reduction in consumption.

Groundbreaker supply two products. In

properties with a meter, Groundbreaker’s

NRv2 LoFlo can be installed between the

water meter and manifold in any water

meter enclosure. For unmetered properties,

the LoFlo InLine is fitted on the main water

supply pipe, normally just after the main

stoptap.

In either unit, several flow modulation

ranges are available which enable the

perfect balance between usage reduction

and service provision. As an added benefit,

the Groundbreaker’s LoFlo Check Valve

systems have the unique property of

providing whole site protection against

contamination by back flow (up to fluid

category 2) as standard.

Flogas and Hoval join forces to deliver

turnkey LPG solution for off-grid businesses

Leading off-grid energy

supplier Flogas Britain has

partnered with renowned

boiler manufacturer Hoval

Ltd, to provide off-grid

businesses nationwide with

a complete turnkey LPG

solution that’s led by one

expert team from start to

finish.

The new partnership will

benefit facilities managers

across the UK looking

for an effective, reliable

off-grid heating and hot

water supply. Not only will

it provide businesses with

enhanced efficiencies, but it

could lower running costs,

helping to boost their bottom

line. For those switching

from fuels like oil, it will

also help to reduce their

environmental impact. With

up to 20% lower carbon

intensity*, LPG is a cleaner,

more efficient energy source

than oil, helping businesses

on the road to a lower

carbon future.

Working together, Flogas and Hoval will manage

the whole solution – specifying, installing, and

maintaining bespoke LPG solutions that meet

business’s exact needs, while also providing an

Sophie Print, Head of New

Energies at Flogas and Ross

Halley, Sales Director at Hoval

on-going, reliable energy

supply. Flogas will manage

customers’ LPG storage

and supply, whilst Hoval

will provide and install

modern, high efficiency

boilers, taking away old

equipment. Customers will

receive the best possible

customer service, receiving

expert guidance as well as

market-leading maintenance

packages. They will also

benefit from flexible finance

options along with bespoke

payment plans, helping them

manage cashflow.

“We wanted to make the

process as easy as possible

for businesses looking to

switch to LPG,” said Sophie

Print, Head of New Energies

at Flogas. “Previously, they

would come to us just for the

LPG supply, and then source

their own boiler separately.

But now, we can do it all for

them, so they don’t have

to! We’ll take the hassle out

of upgrading their heating

system, leaving them with

more time to carry on doing what they do best, and

helping them run their business in a more energy

efficient way. They can also rest assured they’ve

got the right products, a trusted supply, and a

specialist team behind them the whole time.

“We wanted to work with Hoval specifically, as

there is a great synergy between our businesses.

Hoval has extensive national coverage, top

quality products, it’s well established, and

provides fantastic customer support. It’s also well

ahead of the curve when it comes to addressing

decarbonisation, which is also top of our agenda.”

LPG is an increasingly popular off-grid energy

source, providing reliable, efficient heating, hot

water and cooking gas. It’s also one of the cleanest,

most efficient conventional off-grid fuels available.*

Businesses switching from oil not only benefit

from significant carbon savings, but also better air

quality, as it emits far fewer pollutant emissions,

including nitrous oxide (NOx), sulphur oxide (SOx)

and particulate matter (PM).

Ross Halley, Sales Director from Hoval, adds,

“Our high performance, modern LPG boilers

can improve efficiency by up to 20%, helping

businesses to cut costs considerably. Pair this with

Flogas’s reliable LPG and customers are gaining

surety of supply in the most cost effective away.

Plus, they get the full package and our combined

expertise all in one place, saving them valuable

time and effort.”

Cleaning & Hygiene

New addition to

Toucan Eco range

Robert Scott has launched Centrego

Renew, a highly sustainable

disinfectant generator that uses just

water, salt and electricity to make

two litres of powerful, antibacterial

multi-surface cleaner in four

minutes.

The latest addition to the company’s

innovative Toucan Eco range,

Centrego Renew has been

developed in response

to customer demand

for enhanced choice

and versatility in

its sustainable

cleaning

solutions.

Compared to

the one litre

capacity of the

existing Toucan Eco

Worktop Centrego

Renew enables users to

create double the amount of

disinfectant cleaner, helping increase

efficiency and reduce downtime of

cleaning regimes. The UK-designed

product is also significantly sturdier

and more durable, making it the

perfect solution for busy small to

medium spaces.

The hypoallergenic disinfectant

produced by Centrego Renew

replaces the need for up to 80%

of cleaning chemicals, as well as

the single use plastic bottles they

come in. Centrego Renew makes

fast-acting cleaning fluid in just four

minutes, or eight minutes for double

strength solution. Any surplus

solution reverts to its original state

which can be safely disposed of

down the sink.

Steve Courtney,

product lead for

Warehouse & Logistics

Benefits of Goupil electric utility vehicles

Bradshaw is the official UK distributor for

Goupil, all-electric, zero-emission light

commercial road and utility vehicles. Goupil

was founded in 1996 and quickly established

itself as a leading manufacturer of electric

utility vehicles and a pioneer in sustainable

transportation solutions.

The Goupil G2 and G4 models perfectly balance

sustainable, environmental, and economic

functionality in an electric light commercial

vehicle. With their innovative design, they are

specifically tailored to meet the diverse needs of

industrial and commercial operations.

Goupil electric vehicles offer a multitude of

benefits that make them a compelling choice.

Not only do they contribute to a cleaner and

greener environment by producing zero

emissions, but they also provide efficient and

cost-effective transportation solutions. With

their compact size and manoeuvrability, Goupil

vehicles are perfect for navigating urban areas

and tight spaces with ease. Additionally, their

low maintenance requirements and long battery

life ensure reliable and hassle-free operation.

These qualities, combined with their versatility

and customisable features, make Goupil electric

vehicles an ideal option for various industries,

including logistics, delivery services, and

municipal operations.

Environmentally friendly

Using electricity rather than fossil fuels, Electric

vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions,

helping combat climate change and improving

air quality.

Regenerative braking contributes significantly

to environmental conservation by enhancing

the energy efficiency of electric vehicles. Unlike

traditional braking systems, which dissipate

kinetic energy as heat, regenerative braking

systems capture and reuse this energy. The

regenerative braking systems on a Goupil

Electric vehicle reduce wear and tear on the

tyres and reduce tyre and brake dust pollution.

Silent operation

Electric vehicles offer a significant advantage in

reducing noise pollution, providing a tranquil

and enjoyable environment. These near-silent

vehicles enable operations during evening

and early morning hours without causing

disturbances to the local community.

Economic benefits

Electric vehicles are incredibly efficient,

enabling lower operating costs over time

than traditional internal combustion vehicles.

Operating electric vehicles can save money on

both fuel and maintenance expenses. This is

especially beneficial for businesses that operate

a fleet of vehicles, as they can see significant

savings over time.

Stop/start operations

The Electric Goupil is better suited to stop-start

operations compared to diesel vehicles. Diesel

particulate filters (DPFs), designed to capture

and store exhaust soot to reduce emissions, can

pose problems. If not regularly and sufficiently

heated, these filters can become clogged,

leading to expensive maintenance and repair

costs.

No special charging infrastructure required

Charging a Goupil G4 is a straightforward

process; equipped with a single-phase onboard

charger, the Goupil’s plug into any 230V/13A

domestic socket, negating the need for any

additional electric charger installation.

Compact size

The Goupil G4’s compact size and

manoeuvrability make them ideally suited for

urban environments, where space is premium

and navigating crowded streets can be

challenging.
