2025: Finisher Magazine

The TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca transformed the island's capital into a giant sports arena in October 2025. Under bright sunshine, a total of 9,000 runners from 76 nations took to the fascinating course along the harbor and through the old town of Palma de Mallorca. The race, covering distances of 10, 21.0975, or 42.195 kilometers, was more international and female-dominated than ever before: with 46 percent women and around 90 percent international participants, the 21st edition of the largest running event in the Balearic Islands was a true celebration of running. Around 30,000 spectators lined the course along the Passeig Marítim, with the start and finish line located below the majestic La Seu Cathedral. The 9,000 entry slots were sold out two months before the race. In this digital magazine, you'll find the best pictures and most emotional stories from the 21st TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca on 125 pages.

“Mallorca is a

place close to

our hearts”

For Sebastian Ebel, CEO of the TUI Group,

the company’s commitment to the TUI

Palma Marathon Mallorca fits perfectly with

its overall strategy.

What a weekend!

For me, the TUI

Palma Marathon Mallorca

is not only a sporting

highlight – it is a symbol

of what travel, and TUI

itself, stand for: connection,

community, and

sustainable development.

This year, I ran the

10-kilometer distance

myself – together with

hundreds of TUI colleagues

from all over the

world. It was a moving

experience to be part of

this special event that

brings guests and locals

together in such a unique

way.

new medal of the TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca.

He completed the 10-kilometer race.

The marathon demonstrates

how tourism

can build bridges.

With 9,000 runners

and more than 30,000

spectators, it is one of

the largest sporting

events in the Balearic

Islands, featuring a truly

iconic course.

46 percent of the participants

are women.

Most runners travel to

the island and stay for

more than five nights.

Mallorca is a place close

to TUI’s heart. Here,

we are not only a major

employer but also an

active partner of the

local community. Our

vision: tourism that is

sustainable – ecologically,

socially, and economically

– and that

benefits the people

who live here.

I would like to thank all

our partners, the government,

and especially

Kumulus as the organizer

– and above all, the

Mallorcan people for

their warm hospitality.

We are already looking

forward to the next TUI

Palma Marathon Mallorca

on October 18, 2026

– and to continuing our

journey together.

Sun! Fun! Run!

Best sporting regards,

Sebastian Ebel

“Almost 50 percent

women at the

start in Palma”

David Thompson is CEO of the agency

Kumulus, which has been organizing

Mallorca’s running highlight for many years.

We work all year

round to ensure

that every participant at

the TUI Palma Marathon

Mallorca has an unforgettable

experience. With

around 9,000 registrations

from 76 nations, we

succeeded once again

this year. I am particularly

pleased with the positive

feedback on the new

medal. A medal made

from recycled materials

– and one that moves

– fits perfectly with the

spirit of running. But

even more important to

me is that nearly 50 percent

of all participants

this year were women.

In the 10-kilometer race,

- 6 -

the share of women was

as high as 54 percent, and

across the entire event an

impressive 46 percent.

10-kilometer run

through the old town

The 10-kilometer race

passed through Palma’s

old town for the first time

– and the concept worked

brilliantly. For us as

organizers, however, the

most important thing is

that everyone crosses

the finish line happy. Preparations

for next year

begin immediately after

the event, and I am confident

that in 2026 we

will welcome even more

runners to the TUI Palma

Marathon Mallorca.

Anticipation for the Race:

TUI invited guests to the

“Horabaixa” on the eve of

the marathon. The term

Horabaixa describes that

special time just before

sunset.

- 11 -

After the welcome reception in the inner courtyard, guests

enjoyed the stunning view of Palma’s cathedral and harbor.

- 12 -

Sebastian Ebel (bottom right) delivered the welcome

speech. At his side: Deniz Ugur, CEO of Bentour

Reisen, and Marija Linnhoff, President of the Association

of Independent Travel Agencies in Germany.

Come Together at

the “Horabaixa”

On the evening before

the TUI Palma Marathon

Mallorca, TUI hosted

the Horabaixa. The Mallorcan

word refers to

the golden hour before

sunset — and that was

exactly the atmosphere

enjoyed by around

120 invited guests over

fine drinks and food in a

wonderful setting.

- 13 -

A venue with history: The event took place at the

headquarters of the Association of Architects of the

Balearic Islands.

Art in action: A local artist created this runningthemed

painting live during the Horabaixa.

What would a marathon

At the TUI Palma

he did his job brilliantly.

Just seconds before the

he returned with a new

“I really enjoyed

the race”

A French couple dominated the 10-kilometer

distance: Anthony Baumal and Maïwenn Le

Corre, who had traveled from near Nantes,

celebrated a perfect double victory at the

finish line. The new route through Palma’s

old town offered a truly unique running

experience.

took the win in 32:21 minutes,

ahead of Britons

Adam Plows (32:41) and

Conrad Franks (33:39).

“It’s not really a course

out the experience: running

through Palma’s

old town, soaking in the

morning light, and enjoying

the special atmosphere.

At 8:00 a.m., just as

the sun was rising, the

starting signal was given

— a dreamlike setting

for runners, fans,

and photographers alike.

The redesigned course

first led runners along

the flat seaside promenade

before winding

into the old town. It passed

Palma’s architectural

highlights: the majestic

La Seu Cathedral,

historic façades, and

charming squares with

ornate fountains. From

a sightseeing perspective,

it couldn’t have been

more spectacular.

Anyone who thinks a

city run automatically

means flat and fast was

mistaken: the route included

118 meters of

elevation gain, winding

up and down through

Palma’s narrow streets.

Long straight sections?

None at all! Instead, it

was a constant zigzag

through the city’s picturesque

core. For chasing

records, perhaps

tricky — but for the ex-

The atmosphere along

the course was incredible,

even early in the

runners, fans waved homemade

signs, and even

sleepy tourists applauded

with coffee cups in

From Pro to

Passionate Runner

“The race was over too

quickly,” laughed Christina

Hering at the finish,

where she placed sixth in

42:11 minutes. A former

800-meter specialist, she

was one of Germany’s top

middle-distance runners

for more than a decade,

winning 18 national titles

before retiring from professional

athletics a year

ago. “Now I still train two

or three times a week

— just for fun,” said the

31-year-old from Munich.

In 2022, Hering reached

the European Championships

final in Munich, finishing

seventh with 2:00.82

minutes.
