SCHWAB QUITS AS WEF CHAIR

ZURICH: KLAUS SCHWAB, FOUNDER OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC

FORUM, whose annual gathering of business and political leaders in the

Swiss mountain resort of Davos became a symbol of globalization, HAS

RESIGNED AS CHAIR OF ITS TRUSTEES.

The Geneva-based WEF made the announcement on Monday after

revealing earlier this month that the 87-year-old Schwab, who for

decades has been the face of the Davos get-together, would be stepping

down, without giving a firm timeline.

“FOLLOWING MY RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT, AND AS I ENTER MY 88TH

YEAR, I HAVE DECIDED TO STEP DOWN FROM THE POSITION OF CHAIR

AND AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, WITH IMMEDIATE

EFFECT,” SCHWAB SAID IN A STATEMENT RELEASED BY THE WEF.

The forum did not say why he was quitting. The WEF board said in the

statement it had accepted Schwab’s resignation at an extraordinary

meeting on April 20, with Vice Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe serving

as interim chairman while the search for a new chair began.

“SAUDI ARABIA AND THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM ARE HAPPY TO

SAUDI ARABIA HOSTED ITS FIRST TWO-DAY WEF SPECIAL MEETING IN

LATE APRIL LAST YEAR, WHICH FOCUSED ON GLOBAL COLLABORATION,

GROWTH AND ENERGY.

Responding to US President Donald Trump’s comments yesterday asking

SAUDI CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN to increase the

Kingdom’s investments from $600 billion to $1 trillion, Alibrahim said this

figure would also include procurement from the public and private

sectors.

“What we’ll spend in the economy from the START OF VISION 2030 TO

2030 IS 12 TIMES THAT NUMBER,” Alibrahim said.

RIYADH: A stable Middle East is CRUCIAL FOR GLOBAL PROSPERITY,

according to the Saudi minister of economy and planning, who also

underlined the Kingdom’s commitment to being a reliable partner for

economic growth.

Speaking to Arab News ahead of the WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM annual

meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Faisal Alibrahim said: “We believe in

STABILITY AND PEACE AS A PREREQUISITE FOR PROSPERITY, and we

believe in the global economies’ need for a more stable Middle East.”

He emphasized that the Kingdom’s own transformative journey plays a

significant role in FOSTERING REGIONAL STABILITY AND PROSPERITY.

“We see our role internally, in unlocking our potential as an economy and

society. (We also see) its clear and direct impact on THE REGION’S

STABILITY AND PROSPERITY,” he said.

Alibrahim conveyed a (5) MESSAGE OF CONFIDENCE AND

REASSURANCE. “The message that I would share on top of that is that

the Kingdom (5) IS A LONG-TERM, RELIABLE PARTNER, and will always

work (5) TOWARD SHAPING A PROSPEROUS FUTURE,” he said.

“If you keep that in mind, and then you keep in mind the opportunities

that are being created in the Kingdom with this transformation, you’ll see

that there is no better place to invest for results, both commercially and

financially but also from an impact point of view, than the Kingdom

today.”

He encouraged investors to recognize the significant opportunities that

the Kingdom’s transformative journey presents.

ATTRACTING FOREIGN INVESTMENT

Alibrahim emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to attracting $100

billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) BY 2030, but stressed that the

focus is on attracting high-quality, long-term, value-creating investments

that contribute significantly to the Kingdom’s economic growth and

development.

“Our target is still 5.7 percent of GDP in 2030, which amounts roughly to

$100 BILLION OF INFLOW IN 2030. That’s why the National Investment

Strategy was launched, and since it was launched, we’ve been exceeding

our yearly targets, consistently,” he said.

While acknowledging the challenges, Alibrahim expressed confidence in

achieving this target, saying: “This is a long-term journey and we need to

continue working with our partners, continue working intragovernmentally

to figure out more ways where we can make sure that

the momentum we have in attracting foreign capital will continue.”

Faisal Alibrahim discussed attracting investment into the Kingdom and

how the economy can be shielded from shocks with Arab News ahead of

the WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM annual meeting in Davos. He highlighted

the importance of continuous policy refinement and a proactive

Acknowledging the recent trends in FDI inflows, Alibrahim noted that

while 2023 saw figures exceeding initial targets, the first three quarters

of 2024 showed a slight decline to around SR17 billion. “We’ll continue

to monitor how it progresses, and see what the latest numbers are,” he

said.

However, he emphasized that these figures should be viewed within the

context of a long-term trajectory. He pointed out that MANY OF THE

TRANSFORMATIVE PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN AS PART OF VISION 2030

have long lead times, and their impact on FDI inflows will become

increasingly evident in the coming years.

Reiterating the Kingdom’s commitment to creating a conducive

environment for foreign investment, he said: “The Kingdom’s approach

to unlocking its potential, involves (5) REALLY REWRITING THE

ECONOMIC PLAYBOOK.”

He added: “This is not just about investments or the government

spending money. This is about creating an environment that’s vibrant,

that attracts capital, attracts minds to the opportunities that are being

created in the Kingdom led today by the government. Tomorrow,

ultimately, we want the private sector to lead it.”

THIS VISION necessitates a CONTINUOUS PROCESS OF REFORM AND

ADAPTATION, Alibrahim said, adding: “This means that reform is a daily

exercise.”

The Kingdom is actively working to enhance its competitiveness by

streamlining regulations, improving the ease of doing business, and

fostering a more conducive environment for both domestic and

international enterprises.

Emphasizing the importance of private-sector engagement, Alibrahim

said: “Many laws are being revised. Many laws are being taken to public

consultation, and at the heart of all of this is engagement with the private

sector and with investors to understand that these laws and the reforms

and the regulations, as they evolve, are exactly, what is needed.”

SHIELDING ECONOMY FROM SHOCKS

Alibrahim acknowledged the inherent challenges posed by the

INTERCONNECTED NATURE OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMY. “It’s important

to keep in mind that we are shifting the structure of the Saudi economy,”

he said. “We’re shifting from an economic structure that relied heavily

on oil inflows for its economic activity, to one where we will continue to

rely on inflows, but not in the same manner.”

This fundamental shift, according to him, is crucial for mitigating the

impact of external shocks and building a more resilient economy.

Highlighting the encouraging growth of the non-oil sector as evidence of

this ongoing transformation, he said: “Non-oil activities today represent

52 percent of our total real GDP. Non-oil growth for the last three years

on average is 6 percent.

“Our ambition is to take it even further. We are closing 2024 with non-oil

growth at 3.9 percent. (In) 2025, we project it to be 4.8 percent. (In) 2026,

the Ministry of Economy and Planning projects it to be 6.2 percent.”

He said these figures demonstrated the Kingdom’s progress in

restructuring its economy in the right direction.

According to Alibrahim, however, navigating the complexities of the

global economy requires a proactive and adaptable approach. “As we

shift, whatever plays into our risk assessment is shifting as well,” he said.

“In the past, anything that affected the oil market will directly affect our

ability to operate as an economy. Today that is shifting.”

He emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and proactive

risk assessment to anticipate and mitigate potential challenges. “The

name of the game, in our view, is agile policymaking, more engagement

and more institutional capabilities, engaging with all constituents, being

agile in decision-making and continuously investing in your institutional

capabilities so that you can have better quality policy responses,” he said.

Acknowledging the AMBITIOUS NATURE OF THE KINGDOM’S GIGA-

PROJECTS, Alibrahim emphasized the need for a balanced approach.

“What’s critical is to keep in mind that TO ACHIEVE VISION 2030, we

started the planning with confidence like you said, but also delivering

with optimism, and we believe optimism is a choice,” he said.

“It’s a decision. It’s a design input. It’s not just a gut or emotional reaction

or a feeling, but more importantly, managing with prudence.” He cited

the impressive growth of the tourism sector, exceeding initial targets, as

EXECUTE AMBITIOUS INITIATIVES.

“We had the target of 100 million visitors in 2030. We reached 100

million seven years early. Today, that number has been increased to 150

million.” This remarkable achievement demonstrates THE KINGDOM’S

CAPACITY TO SUCCESSFULLY PLAN, IMPLEMENT AND EVEN SURPASS

AMBITIOUS GOALS, according to Alibrahim.

Still, he reiterated the need for evaluation and adjustments. “On top of

that, we wanted to make sure as we got more knowledgeable and are

aware of how to manage the economy and economic management, we

don’t want to create value leakage like what happened before in the

1980s,” he said.

“We also don’t want to overheat the economy and create an inflation

environment that might hurt the private sector, the existing private

sector or other players outside of these projects, so a decision to revisit

how fast we go without really AFFECTING THE PACE AND SCALE OF

OVERALL VISION 2030 WAS LOOKED AT.”

These adjustments reflect a commitment to responsible and sustainable

development, according to Alibrahim. He recognized that while the

tourism sector has exceeded expectations, other factors, such as the

emergence of new projects, necessitate a careful review of timelines and

resource allocation. “In parallel, new inputs came in. We won hosting the

Asian Cup for 2027, Asian Winter games in Trojena 2029, World Expo

2030, World Cup 2034. We’re hosting the world twice in four years very

soon,” he said.

World Expo 2030 takes place from Oct. 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031 in

Riyadh. These new opportunities, while exciting, require careful

consideration and integration into the overall development plan,

according to Alibrahim.

“We just concluded for the first time a long-term fiscal exercise,” he said.

“We decided to shift things. There is agility in decision making, there is

prudence in management, and we’re not ashamed to talk about that.”

To ensure the successful and sustainable execution of these ambitious

projects, Alibrahim stressed the importance of quality and sustainability.

“We need to make sure that the optimal value creation for the local

economy (and) minimizing the impact of creating an inflationary

environment on the economy as well as in the private sector and then

using innovation and using these opportunities to invite quality investors

and quality partners that can come in and set up shop,” he said.

He also underscored the need for clarity and transparency in these largescale

projects. “For the first time in a long time, we do have clarity on the

types of projects that we will have and what kind of partners we need,

which is clarity that the private sector always seeks,” he said.

This clarity, in his opinion, creates an opportunity to attract international

partners with the expertise and resources to deliver high-quality

infrastructure projects while maximizing knowledge transfer and

minimizing risks. “Infrastructure in general is a sector that we see will be

witnessing a lot of investment in the Kingdom,” he said.

SAUDI ARABIA HEADS TO DAVOS

THIS YEAR WILL FEATURE FOR THE FIRST TIME A “SAUDI HOUSE.” This

that are participating in Davos in one convenient location, Alibrahim said.

resources or human capital, the Kingdom possesses a unique advantage

by leveraging both. This unique combination of abundant natural

resources and a dynamic human capital base sets the Kingdom apart

from many other emerging markets.

Furthermore, he emphasized the Kingdom’s strategic advantages. “We

have a large land area that can be leveraged for (diverse) projects,

including AI. We have access to natural resources, specifically cleanest

hydrocarbon energy globally, but also renewable energy of the cheapest

wind and solar globally delivered by the private sector.

“We also have green hydrogen investments working on blue hydrogen,

working on many other sources,” said. These abundant and diverse

energy resources provide a strong foundation for sustainable economic

growth and attract significant investment in clean energy technologies.

Alibrahim also highlighted the Kingdom’s human capital as a key driver of

growth. “We also have access to a talent pool that is today Saudi based,”

he said. “Sixty-three percent of the population is below the age of 30, a

young and dynamic population full of optimism and full of energy.”

He drew attention to the KINGDOM’S STRATEGIC LOCATION AND ITS

GROWING GLOBAL INFLUENCE. “Keep in mind THE KINGDOM’S

When asked about successful leadership, Alibrahim outlined three key

He spoke of the importance of a long-term perspective, saying: “IN THE

KINGDOM, WHEN WE STARTED WITH VISION 2030, IT CAME FROM A

LONG-TERM VIEW, AND I’M GOING TO ALWAYS REFER TO THE VISION

AS AN EVIDENCE AND EXAMPLE BECAUSE WE’RE LIVING IT, so the first

thing is having a long-term horizon and continuously thinking with a longterm

view,” he said.

According to him, this long-term vision serves as a guiding principle,

A COMMON GROUND

The importance of finding and fostering common ground in an

increasingly interconnected yet fragmented world was pointed out by

Alibrahim.

“We were in Berlin a few months ago. The theme was Common Ground.

We talked about it in Davos two or three years ago. In the blog post, we

pushed the common ground is what keeps people at the table, and we

need to make sure we maintain that common ground and fight for

protecting that common ground, but also work constructively to grow it,”

he said.

According to Alibrahim, the global landscape is evolving with increasing

trade fragmentation and a shift away from hyper-globalization. “The

world is shifting,” he said. “There is more trade fragmentation. Hyper

globalization has ended. TODAY WE HAVE A NEW KIND OF

GLOBALIZATION.”

This new reality necessitates a renewed focus on dialogue and

collaboration, he said, adding: “All this means that dialogue is going to be

essential, and at the heart of the dialogue is keeping our mind on what

we have in common and how we can grow that as we move forward.”

HEARD THE LORD SAY, "THE TERRIBLE

DAY OF THE LORD IS UPON US"

I heard the terrible day of the Lord is upon us. I heard the Lord say to me,

"THE TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD IS UPON US." And I heard this in regard

to a revelation that he was giving me from two dreams that I had.

One dream was on October 1st. The other dream was on October 15th.

And the Lord's been showing me through these two dreams, DARKNESS.

THERE IS A DARKNESS COMING. But it wasn't until just a couple days ago

when I heard the Lord say that “THE TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD IS UPON

US”.

I did not know what THE DARKNESS meant. What he was trying to show

me. And in these dreams, the Lord was showing me A TERRIFYING

DARKNESS IS COMING. And in one of the dreams, I saw my cousin's face.

And when I looked at his face, his face was like full of horror. Just a look

of sheer terror was on his face.

And the Lord said to me, "THE LOOK OF TERROR ON MY COUSIN'S FACE

REPRESENTED THE UNSAVED WORLD. AND WHAT'S COMING UPON THE

UNSAVED WORLD WILL CAUSE GREAT FEAR WHICH WILL TURN INTO

REGRET."

And so, as I was praying on October 1 st about the dream, I heard the Lord

say, "A MARKING FOR THE PURPOSE OF JUDGMENT." IN THE REALM OF

THE SPIRIT, THERE IS A MARKING THAT GOD IS PUTTING UPON HIS

PEOPLE FOR THE PURPOSE OF SEPARATING PEOPLE FROM THE

JUDGMENT COMING.

THIS SEPARATION FOR JUDGMENT the Lord showed me is also IN

REFERENCE TO THE WHEAT FROM THE TARES PASSAGE in Matthew

13:30.

And here's what he was showing me. The scripture says;

"LET BOTH GROW TOGETHER UNTIL THE HARVEST. AT THAT TIME, I WILL

TELL THE HARVESTERS, FIRST COLLECT THE WEEDS, TIE THEM IN

BUNDLES, AND THEN BURN THEM, AND THEN GATHER THE WHEAT AND

BRING IT INTO MY BARN."

THE WEEDS ARE THE SONS OF THE EVIL ONE. THE HARVESTERS ARE THE

ANGELS WHO COLLECT THE WEEDS, WHO TIE THEM AND BURN THEM.

And the Lord said to me that THE DEATH, A DARKNESS, A DOOM OF

GLOOM, THE JUDGMENT THAT IS COMING TO THE UNSAVED WORLD IS

FOR COLLECTING OF THE WEEDS. But the Lord said, "BUT THE PEOPLE

OF GOD WILL BE KEPT SAFE IF WE FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS." And

this leads me to the next dream that I had concerning thinking you know

what you see is real and it's not.

And so, in this dream I saw my husband go outside to pick up a what

looked like a dog, but it wasn't a dog. It was actually an alien. And in the

dream, I knew this thing was not what it seemed to be. And he picked it

up and he brought it in the house and put it on the floor.

So, then I picked it up and then I laid it in my bed. But the Lord showed

me, here's the revelation. ONLY THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS ABLE TO

DETERMINE WHAT IS REAL AND WHAT IS NOT. ONLY THE SPIRIT OF THE

LORD CAN DETERMINE IN THESE LAST DAYS WHAT CAN BE RECEIVED

AND WHAT SHOULD NOT.

AND THERE IS A DARKNESS THAT IS GOING TO COME THROUGH THE

TECHNOLOGIES OF THE DAY. IT'S GOING TO COME THROUGH THE

HANDS-ON EVERYDAY THINGS THAT WE THINK WE KNOW THE

PURPOSE FOR. And when you think you know, that's when you're going

to be deceived. Deception doesn't come when you know the truth.

Deception comes when you think you know the truth.

This is the hour and God's call to the spiritual growth of the saints. It is

imperative, saints of God, that we learn how to get in the presence of

God and that we learn how to wait to hear. Wait to hear his instructions.

Wait to hear that still small voice that will come and give an

understanding of what to do and when to do it.

That's what my dream was showing. It looked like a dog, but it wasn't. It

was something counterfeit, created to look like a dog. But my husband in

the dream represented the Holy Spirit who when I saw the spirit of God

dealing with the dog, that's was my cue and to let me know how to deal

with the dog and that I it was okay for me to deal with this counterfeit

recreation.

It wasn't until I saw the Holy Spirit, well, my husband in the dream

and any technology product, you want to hear the feedback of, well, what

worked well, what didn’t work well. And what better way to do that than

here (at the annual meeting), where all of our constituents and users are

here.”

Huang emphasized the importance of user input in shaping the

experience.

“The graphics are higher fidelity, they’re photorealistic,” he said. “We’re

mixing virtual reality in some cases where we want to transport you to a

location, but other times we just want to sit around a table, visualize a

3D object, and say, ‘Hey, have you noticed this thing?’ or, ‘Have you

noticed that thing?’ USING AUGMENTED REALITY WHEN IT’S APROPOS.”

Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. “The most-used term

this week has been: Wow,” Huang said. “When you see the state-of-theart

hardware and software these days, it is a wow moment.”

The tech offers an alternative to traditional 2D communication platforms

such as Zoom or PowerPoint by immersing users in a 3D environment.

“If you talk to anyone that’s ever been in an immersive environment, it

changes your perception,” Huang explained. “Through that

immersiveness, there is a higher level of engagement.”

The platform also aims for inclusivity and device-neutrality. “Next-Gen is

available not only with Meta devices but Apple’s Pro as well, and in the

future, we want to add more devices onto that as well,” Huang said.

TO REAL LIFE THAN EVER BEFORE

It has been 76 years since "1984," George Orwell's warning about

government control, censorship and the corruption of language, was first

published.

The organizations behind Banned Books Week based this year's

theme, "Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights," on Orwell's

Over 3,700 unique books were banned during the 2024-2025 school year,

more than double the number of titles advocacy group PEN America

tracked in the 2021-2022 school year when it began counting. The

nonprofit, dedicated to free expression, found 6,870 total instances of

book banning in the '24-'25 year. Their "BANNED IN THE USA" REPORT

WARNS AGAINST A "NORMALIZATION" OF BOOK BANS, CALLING THEM

"RAMPANT AND COMMON."

"If we're not careful, it might not simply be your book being put on a list

that makes it so a librarian can't order it," says Clint Smith, author of

"How the Word Is Passed." Instead, "it might be you arrested for writing

the book in the first place."

"You have to recognize that where we are now is worse than where we've

been, but WHERE WE COULD BE GOING COULD BE FAR WORSE THAN

WHERE WE ARE," the author adds. "THAT IS WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT

TO NAME IT, TO CALL IT OUT, SPEAK OUT AGAINST IT AS MUCH AS WE

You're using the term 'Orwellian' wrong. Here’s what George Orwell was

actually writing about in '1984.' Beers penned 2024's "Orwell's Ghosts:

authored 1991's "George Orwell: The Authorized Biography." Cisneros,

best known for her work in "The House on Mango Street," has seen her

1984-published novel challenged and banned in schools.

READING GEORGE ORWELL'S '1984' FOR THE FIRST TIME

Question: When were you first introduced to Orwell's "1984" and what

were your thoughts on it at the time? Beers: I first read "1984" in high

school. At the time, it was in the mid-'90s and Orwell was still someone I

thought of as a Cold War writer. I had read "Animal Farm" in middle

school, in the last days of the Soviet Union. So he was presented as

someone who was writing about CENSORSHIP, REPRESSION, TYRANNY

AND RESTRICTIONS ON FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND FREEDOM OF

THOUGHT.

But the context in which I was introduced to him was, "These are bad

things that happened in the evil empire of the Soviet Union" … Orwell

was concerned about CENSORSHIP AND THE LACK OF FREEDOM OF

THOUGHT AND EXPRESSION in the Soviet Union − but not exclusively in

the Soviet Union. He was also very concerned about the sense of

censorship at home in the British Empire. I see him as a critic of THE

TENDENCIES TOWARDS CENSORSHIP AND TOTALITARIANISM

EVERYWHERE − both at home and abroad.

Shelden: It was more than half a century ago, and at that time, the great

enemy was considered to be the communist bloc and the Soviet Union. I

thought Orwell had a broader target in mind. He wasn't just thinking of

criticizing the censorship policies in the Soviet Union, but

in ALL SOCIETIES THAT PRETENDED THEY COULD SOMEHOW CONTROL

THOUGHT.

Smith: I first read the book in high school, and it seemed like something

that could not happen here. I recognize now part of why it felt back then

that what happens in "1984" could not happen here in contemporary

America was because I did not learn about America fully. When I learned

about American history, I wasn't taught about how fragile this project,

the American project, was. I was not taught about the threedimensionality

of America, about the complexity of America, about the

contradictions of America, and about the ways that so many of what

maintained our institutions were norms rather than laws.

In some ways, it feels incredible to have read that book and not to have

seen the way that what was described might make its way here to the

US. Because IF YOU STUDY AMERICAN HISTORY, AND IF YOU STUDY

WORLD HISTORY, YOU SEE THAT ALL OF THESE DEMOCRACIES, ALL OF

THESE EXPERIMENTS, CAN BE TOPPLED BY JUST A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE.

2024 WAS THE NEW '1984'

Question: What parallels do you see between Orwell's world and the

current debate surrounding literacy, books, education and access to

information in the US?

Beers: Orwell talks about explicit censorship, but also about how

language is controlled so that there are things you can't say, and if

there are things you can't say, then there are ideas you can't think. He's

very conscious about the connection between freedom of expression

and freedom of thought because, without freedom of expression, you

really can't have freedom of thought.

We can see those parallels within our society in how the current

administration focuses on language, what can be taught in schools and

what can be said on the airwaves.

There's a real irony that just a few years ago, it was the political right that

was decrying censorship and cancel culture was a major problem with

the left. Now, you see the government in power trying to effectively

exercise its own forms of censorship and cancel culture on views it does

not agree with.

That would not surprise Orwell, right? He believed that any political

ideology was susceptible to this tendency towards tyranny − that it was

just the fact that accretion of too much power could lead to these

tendencies to suppress, dissent, and to maintain absolute control and

to silence your opponents.

Shelden: In all of Orwell's work, he's looking at the attempt by larger

powers to control the way that a population thinks, not just the way

that they speak or write, but the way that a population thinks, which is

far more dangerous than just trying to censor individual speech or

censor a book. You're trying to basically get people to censor

themselves.

We are in that world right now, we're in a world where both sides of

the political divide, it's generally acknowledged that most people are

censoring themselves to some extent by not speaking more plainly for

fear that they will somehow offend either just other people or perhaps,

worse, the powers that be (and) offend the people who could make

them pay for their free thought.

Smith: What we have to recognize is that it can get much worse than it

is now; we have to take that seriously. Again, all you have to do is study

history to see how government efforts to surveil, control and

propagandize only increase over time − if not met by fierce resistance

from the public. We have to recognize that how we conceive of books

being banned and challenged today is bad, to be sure, and that it can

also get much worse. We can experience a much more draconian

version of what we're already experiencing if we're not mindful, if we're

not forceful against these efforts, if we're not speaking up against these

intentions to prevent certain ideas, certain types of writers, certain

types of people from having their work read and heard and engaged

with.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR SOMETHING

TO BE 'ORWELLIAN'?

Question: The term "Orwellian" has seen an uptick in its use for years

before 2025. But does it feel truly more resonant today than in past

decades?

Beers: Orwell was talking about (5) THE POWER OF THE STATE. The really

repressive power of the state to stop alternative ideas from coming into

circulation, from being debated and from having the chance to build

their case. Being taken off Twitter is not Orwellian because you can set

up Truth Social or an alternative platform, or your voice can be heard in

other spaces. Having your book not be published because a publisher

thinks your politics don't align with theirs − assuming that there's a

marketplace for ideas and you can have your book published elsewhere

− is not really Orwellian either, right?

ORWELL WAS THINKING ABOUT A SOCIETY WHERE PEOPLE WHO SPOKE

OUT WERE JAILED, POTENTIALLY EXECUTED AND WERE KIND OF

DISAPPEARED. (5) THAT IS HIS SPECIFIC DYSTOPIA. We are increasingly

seeing a political world that could actually be described as Orwellian,

where there is real existential risk for a lot of people in voicing ideas

and exercising speech. They can lose their right to reside in the US if they

are not citizens, they can lose their job, they can end up in prison. This is

really, I think, the type of repression that Orwell is pointing at more so

than just social media cancellation.

Shelden: When people use the word Orwellian today, I think they're

trying to indicate that there's a frame of mind that is very willing to

make you pay for saying something that is out of the mainstream or not

popular, or in some ways, attacks or challenges the status quo. The

reason that's so dangerous, and what Orwell is trying to show in the

dangers he did show in "1984," is that a society that doesn't have free

thought doesn't have anything.

You don't have innovation, you don't have dissent. It isn't just politics that

suffers. it's everything from religion and faith to just social life in

general. When you can't feel free to speak your mind, you might as well

not have a mind, right?

Smith: While it is true there are always examples of Orwellian conditions

in various spaces in society. It's a question of scale and scope, right? It is

both true that throughout American history, we have experienced, to

varying degrees, and various communities have experienced more so

than other communities, EXTREME GOVERNMENT CONTROL,

SURVEILLANCE, PROPAGANDA AND MANIPULATION OF THE TRUTH.

But what's also true is that we are living in a moment in which the most

dangerous forms of surveillance, government control, propaganda, and

the erasure, distortion, or manipulation of the truth are omnipresent in

this country. It's coming from the very top in ways that do feel new. You

can both say there have been examples of Orwellian realities throughout

American history and also recognize that we are at a fundamentally

different point in this moment.

The Mendacious United Nations is At It Again

There was another menacing headline in the Toronto Sun on 15 October,

providing a cogent example of the thesis of my recent column – the (5)

DELIBERATE HYPERBOLE AND BLATANT DISHONESTY of the UNITED

NATIONS / WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM. No doubt widely published,

from the World Meteorological Organisation (the UN’s weather and

climate agency), “CO2 in the atmosphere is up by a record amount in

2024, the biggest one-year jump since recording began in 1957.” This is

misleading and likely, for much of the media and its readers, successfully

so.

My recent column reviewed estimated CO2 levels of 800 ppm, 600

million years ago, 20 times higher than today, and 500 million years ago,

10 times higher. FOR REASONS NO ONE CAN CLAIM WITH ANY

ASSURANCE, MORE RECENTLY, THE LEVEL OF CO2 DECLINED VERY

CLOSE TO THE EXTINCTION LEVEL OF 150 PPM. An important and

relevant observation pointed out by my Editor – the (5) END GAME OF

NET ZERO is, by definition, (5) ALSO THE END OF LIFE.

Previously explained but worth (7) REPEATING, THE UNIQUE MIX OF

WATER, CARBON (7) DIOXIDE AND OXYGEN FOSTERS LIFE ON EARTH.

Eliminate any of them, and plant, animal and human life terminates. (5)

The curve also demonstrated the long-term nature of the climate. But

the “biggest one-year jump since records began in 1957” is not relevant.

Humans cannot grasp the long-term nature of the climate – significance

is measured in centuries or longer. A less than a century increase is a

nothingburger statistic, aggrandised by sloppy media. Also easy to

manipulate by picking a helpful start date.

Understanding the climate is complex, but we can and should understand

the simplicity of the (5) UN’S ONGOING GRASP FOR CONTROL. A (5)

some UN employees are Hamas warriors.

Oops, I almost missed the important role of our Prime Minister, a leader

in propagating the climate crisis. He was a UN Special Envoy regarding

Climate Change, chaired the 2021 Glasgow COP climate conference, and,

with a colleague, built the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero

(“GFANZ”), an agency formed to encourage banks to squeeze lending to

the upstream oil and gas companies. The six Canadian major banks all

committed to this entity, led by Carney, to further damage one of

Canada’s most important industries. Happily, it has recently fallen apart.

Rising geopolitical tensions, artificial intelligence-driven attacks, and

complex digital supply chains are reshaping the global cyber landscape,

experts warned during a WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM session in Dubai on

Tuesday.

The session, titled “RIDING OUT CYBER STORMS,” was part of the

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE GLOBAL FUTURE COUNCILS and brought

together Samir Saran, president of the Observer Research Foundation;

Kemba Eneas Walden, president of the Paladin Global Institute; Joe Levy,

CEO of Sophos; and Dario Leandro Genua, Argentina’s secretary of

innovation, science and technology.

According to the Forum’s Global Cybersecurity Outlook, 71 percent of

respondents reported AN INCREASE IN CYBER RISKS LINKED TO

GEOPOLITICAL FRICTION, ACCELERATED AI, AND EXPANDING SUPPLY

CHAIN VULNERABILITIES.

Speaking on the first day of the summit, Saran noted that heightened

political tensions have sharply increased global demand for cyber

capabilities.

“Who is your adversary and what are their capabilities?” he asked. “We

believe states view cyber weapons and capabilities as legitimate means

to employ.” He said global preparedness remains uneven, with even

technologically advanced countries at risk of cyberattacks.

“One part of the world is very familiar with the other while the other

doesn’t, because they do not have the capabilities” he said. “For

example, the US is more vulnerable than China.” Saran added that AI HAS

MULTIPLIED ATTACK CAPABILITIES “MULTIFOLDS” CREATING NEW

CHALLENGES FOR GOVERNMENTS AND MARKETS ALIKE.

“If risk insurance markets are not able to help people defend themselves,

some see cyberattacks as their form of protection,” he said. “When

identities can be fake or created, organizations need to rethink safety.”

Walden said adversaries are exploiting AI faster than defenders can

adapt.

“From my perspective, they are winning,” she said. “They are able to do

things at speed and scale. The adversary doesn’t have to worry about the

risk.”

SHE CALLED FOR RENEWED URGENCY AMONG DEFENDERS.

“Cyber has (5) ALWAYS BEEN A GEOPOLITICAL STRUGGLE,” she said.

“Adversaries are already using the technology faster than the defenders,

we have to match speed with speed.”

A recent report by SQ Magazine confirmed AI-related breaches reached

16,200 incidents up to September 2025, a 49 percent increase from the

previous year.

The Middle East alone saw a 31 percent increase in (5) AI-ASSISTED

ESPIONAGE AND CYBERATTACK CAMPAIGNS, particularly targeting

critical oil and energy infrastructures.

Joe Levy said cybersecurity fundamentals remain the strongest defense

amid shifting digital threats.

“Time matters very much here to defenders,” he said. “The first place I

advise people to look is the basics. We tend to ignore them because

something more exotic always gets our attention.”

Levy urged organizations to strengthen operational hygiene and practice

incident response.

“You need more than cybersecurity insurance, you also need practice,”

he said.

Genua stressed that cybersecurity “involves everything and everyone”

and highlighted the importance of coordination across borders and

industries.

“We have to know we are as strong as the weakest link in the network,”

he said.

Genua said Argentina is developing joint plans of action “between sectors

and between nations” and is launching a cyber arena to promote public

awareness and training.

“We need to train people in both the public and private sector and give

them tools to navigate their safety,” he added.

FORUM (WEF) told AFP Tuesday, warning that turmoil was “impacting

global growth.”

“IT IS THE MOST COMPLEX GEOPOLITICAL AND GEO-ECONOMIC

BACKDROP WE’VE SEEN IN DECADES,” WEF PRESIDENT AND CEO BORGE

BRENDE SAID ahead of a meeting of the multilateral forum in the

northern Chinese city of Tianjin. “If we are not able to revive growth

again, we can unfortunately see a decade of lower growth,” he warned.

Officials including Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will

attend this week’s WEF meeting in the port city of Tianjin — known

colloquially as THE “SUMMER DAVOS.”

The meeting comes hard on the heels of the United States’ involvement

in the Iran-Israel conflict and follows months in which the global

economy has been battered by a tariff war launched by US President

Donald Trump.

Brende told AFP it was still too soon to predict the impact of Trump’s

swinging tariffs. It is “too early to say what these tariffs will end with

because the negotiations are still ongoing,” he said. “I think the jury is

DUBAI: Experts at THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM’S ANNUAL MEETING

OF THE GLOBAL FUTURE COUNCILS AND CYBERSECURITY on Tuesday

discussed how global cyber defenders are attempting to outsmart cyber

criminals by using financial and psychological strategies to anticipate and

disrupt attacks before they occur.

The session, titled “(5) INSIDE THE CYBER CRIMINAL MIND,” examined

how breakthroughs in 2025 have been achieved through innovative cross

sector cooperation, and how these lessons could shape stronger cyber

defenses in 2026.

Max Smeets, co-director of Virtual Routes, noted that the line between

digital vulnerability and reputational damage is increasingly blurred as

cyberattacks evolve.

“Attackers can accelerate access and get into one’s files — what can one

do? Do you pay them a ransom to make them go away or refuse to pay

and try to get a back up of your files?” he asked the audience. He

described how victims often face a cascade of scenarios following an

attack.

“You have leaks and exposure on social media and news,” he said. “Do

you start to focus your efforts on IT security or put your resources into

your own reputation with a crisis communications team and own the

narrative about your leaked incident?”

Smeets said that while cybercrime remains severely underreported,

shame and uncertainty are major barriers to disclosure.

“One of the elements is shame, but secondly, one doesn’t immediately

know where to go,” he said.

A leading expert in cyber conflict and security, Smeets added that

SCAMMERS HAVE BECOME INCREASINGLY SKILLED AT MANIPULATING

HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY. “SCAMMERS HAVE TO BE VERY GOOD IN

GETTING YOUR TRUST and have the ability to position themselves and

they’re learning from each other.”

Global cybercrime has surged in 2025, with damages projected to reach

$10.5 trillion annually — making cybercrime the world’s third-largest

economy behind the US and China, according to market research

company Cybersecurity Ventures.

Ransomware, phishing, financial fraud, and distributed denial-of-service

attacks remain prevalent, with government, energy, healthcare, and

telecom sectors being prime targets.

The Middle East and North Africa region has also been hit particularly

hard. According to the MENA Cyber Summit 2025 report, the region saw

a 183 percent year-on-year increase in DDoS attacks in Q1 2024,

triggered by escalating geopolitical conflicts and hacktivism.

The average cost per breach reached $8.05 million — nearly double the

global average.

Neal Jetton, who leads the INTERPOL Global Cybercrime Programme,

emphasized the critical role of early reporting and international

cooperation to prevent attacks.

“I’ve had individuals and businesses reach out to me as victims of data

breach and ransom, and the first question I always ask is: which law

enforcement agency have you reached out to?” he said. “There’s so

much importance in reporting.”

Jetton noted that cybercrime investigations are often hampered by

limited resources. “Cybercrime is tough to investigate, it requires a lot of

tools and resources which a lot of countries cannot afford, so (5)

INTERPOL STEPS IN TO HELP at times,” he said.

He described a recent multinational operation that brought together

experts from across the world to focus on victims, both individuals and

businesses.

“We’re bringing countries together, and we went after a whole suite of

cybercrime and had over 1,200 arrests of (5) PEOPLE INVOLVED IN

MALICIOUS MALWARE,” he said.

Jetton said the effort succeeded because it (5) PRIORITIZED

EMPOWERMENT, STRATEGY, INVESTIGATION, AND PREVENTION. “Now

we will be looking at how to combat phishing and image based sexual

abuse and how to stop the industrialization of cybercrime,” he added.

Despite the scale of the threat, both experts agreed there are reasons for

optimism. “It isn’t all doom and gloom,” Smeets said, highlighting how

ongoing collaborations are starting to yield real solutions.

“We are getting concrete answers on how to solve such problems

effectively. We are cooperating, spreading awareness, there is hope.”

The discussion took place on the second day of the AMGFCC being held

and infrastructure, experts at the WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM’S ANNUAL

MEETING OF THE GLOBAL FUTURE COUNCILS ON CYBERSECURITY in

ENVIRONMENTAL THRESHOLDS — but said innovation could still help

restore planetary balance.

A session titled “(5) EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE PLANET”

explored how scientific advances can strengthen Earth’s resilience at a

REPORT, humanity has breached seven of the nine planetary

boundaries that regulate the planet’s stability — from biodiversity loss

to ocean acidification — pushing the Earth’s system beyond its safe

reverse some of the damage.

Prof. Drew Shindell of Duke University (5) SAID THAT REDUCING

“Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas and it creates ozone in the lower

atmosphere, which is toxic to forests,” he said. “It is about 40 percent as

He added that while emissions from fossil fuels and waste can be

measured and mitigated, the agricultural sector remains far more

complex. “With companies, solutions are more straightforward; there is

detection and money available to track methane’s damage,” he said. “But

in agriculture we need new techniques and we might also need to

Shindell urged stronger public-private partnerships to scale technologies

worldwide and called for (5) AGRICULTURAL POLICIES FOCUSING ON

METHANE, soil carbon and nitrogen use.

Dr. Leigh Ann Winowiecki, global research lead for Soil and Land Health

at CIFOR-ICRAF, said soil systems are central to BOTH (5) FOOD SECURITY

AND CLIMATE STABILITY.

“What is soil? It is the biological layer of the Earth’s surface, and we

depend on healthy soil for water regulation, for food and nutrition

security,” she said. “It is the most biodiverse ecosystem in the world. It is

also important to store carbon if we manage it properly.”

She added that new technological tools have revolutionized how

scientists study underground ecosystems.

“We just launched the first ever Global Future Council on Soil and Land

Health,” she said. “This wasn’t possible 20 or 30 years ago; the

technology to understand the biodiversity of the soil wasn’t there, now

we are capable of doing so much more with the studies and

advancements we have.”

The discussion took place ahead of the UN COP30 conference, which will

be held in Belem, in the Brazilian Amazon in November.

INTENSIFYING CLIMATE CHALLENGES rank as the (5) MOST PRESSING

GLOBAL THREATS FOR 2025, according to the WORLD (5) ECONOMIC

FORUM’S GLOBAL RISK REPORT, released Wednesday ahead of the

Davos annual meeting.

Based on insights from 900 global leaders in business, politics and

academia, the report highlights escalating geopolitical tensions,

environmental crises and misinformation as critical issues shaping the

year ahead.

“Rising geopolitical tensions and a fracturing of trust are driving the

global risk landscape,” said Mirek Dusek, WEF managing director. “In this

complex and dynamic context, leaders have a choice: to find ways to

foster collaboration and resilience, or face compounding vulnerabilities.”

State-based armed conflicts are flagged as the most immediate concern

for 23 percent of respondents, with wars in the Middle East, Sudan and

Ukraine driving global instability.

The forum will host a historic gathering of Middle Eastern leaders,

including representatives from Iran, Syria, Yemen and Gulf countries, to

discuss prospects for peace amid hopes of a ceasefire between Hamas

and Israel after 15 months of devastating war that has killed tens of

thousands of Palestinians.

Donald Trump, set to be sworn in as the 47th US president on Jan. 20,

has vowed to end the war in Ukraine. He will deliver a virtual address to

the forum on Jan. 23. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also

attend and deliver a speech on Jan. 21.

“From conflicts to climate change, we are facing interconnected crises

that demand coordinated, collective action,” said Mark Elsner, WEF’s

head (5) OF THE GLOBAL RISKS INITIATIVE, who urged world leaders to

make “RENEWED EFFORTS TO REBUILD TRUST AND FOSTER

COOPERATION.”

While conflicts rank as the most immediate threat, the survey highlights

the climate crisis as the dominant risk of the next decade. Environmental

risks — including extreme weather, biodiversity loss and critical changes

to Earth’s systems — account for three of the top four long-term global

concerns.

In 2024, global warming hit a record 1.54 degrees Celsius above preindustrial

levels, triggering catastrophic weather events, such as the Los

Angeles wildfires, devastating floods in Spain caused by the DANA

weather phenomenon and unprecedented rainfall across the Middle

East, which triggered floods in the Arabian Peninsula and Sahara Desert

for the first time in half a century.

“The climate and nature crisis requires urgent attention and action,” said

Gim Huay Neo, the WEF’S MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR THE CENTER FOR

NATURE AND CLIMATE.

Two technology-related concerns ranked next on the list of global

threats: “MISINFORMATION AND DISINFORMATION” and the “(5)

ADVERSE OUTCOMES OF AI TECHNOLOGIES.”

The survey, conducted between September and October, noted rising

anxieties about misinformation. These concerns have intensified

following Donald Trump’s election victory and his alignment with tech

leaders like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, who are reportedly

advocating for deregulation policies expected to benefit the tech

industry.

It coincides with Zuckerberg’s recent decision to scale back fact-checking

and content moderation across Meta’s platforms, a move widely

criticized by experts as an appeasement of Trump, whose return to the

Organizers are expecting 60 heads of state and government to attend,

alongside chief executives and campaigners. Several ministers and

business leaders from SAUDI ARABIA are also expected to take part.

The WEF’s report found that 64 percent of experts foresee a fragmented

global order dominated by competition among middle and great powers,

with multilateralism under significant strain.

Against this backdrop, the forum’s theme, “A CALL FOR COLLABORATION

IN THE INTELLIGENT AGE,” highlights the need for renewed cooperation,

even as Trump’s anticipated policy shifts could undermine collective

efforts on critical global issues, including the climate crisis.

THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM next week,

reflecting the growing influence of emerging markets, the organization

said on Tuesday.

Mirek Dusek, the forum’s managing director, said he was “pleased” with

the increase in the number of representatives from emerging markets

expected to attend the event. He added that the “proportion is growing

this year. We’re seeing particularly strong numbers, for example, from

the Middle East, also from South Asia.”

Nearly 3,000 people from more than 130 countries, including 900

business leaders, are expected to attend the annual meeting, which will

take place in Davos, Switzerland, from Jan. 20 to 25.

gathering focused on the traditional major powers and big business, but

Dusek highlighted the growing presence of leaders from the Global

South. He said participation among developing nations was now “on

Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, Wellcome Trust, IKEA

Foundation and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, whose grants

The Lancet argues that controlling food systems is the key to controlling

every major sector, linking nutrition, climate, economics, and governance

And during that time when I had it, it was foreshadowing not only a little

bit of what we tasted then, but what has really unfolded in the years since

then. Specifically concerning our medical establishment, big pharma, and

the ongoing (5) BATTLE CONCERNING VACCINATIONS AND DOCTORS

and just so many of the things that we're running into.

And this dream is a part of a compilation of prophetic dreams and visions

that the Lord told me to put together. You know, I'm a prophetic dreamer.

I believe in prophecy. I believe God still speaks to us through dreams and

visions. And he's been doing that for me for years and in the last 12 years.

And so earlier this year, the Lord asked me to put them all together as

not just (7) A COMPILATION FOR REMEMBRANCE, BUT FOR

INTERCESSION.

And this really is FOR THE (7) WATCHMEN IN THIS NATION AS AN

ENCOURAGEMENT (7) TO SHOW THAT GOD HAS BEEN SPEAKING. HE'S

BEEN SHOWING (7) US NOT ONLY WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING (7)

BUT HE OFTENTIMES DOES FORESHADOW THINGS NOT (7) TO PREDICT

NECESSARILY BUT TO PREPARE US.

And a lot of these dreams that I had really have turned out to be that an

indicator that we need to prepare as the people of God for what this

nation would go through.

WORDS FOR AMERICA'S WATCHMEN, PROPHETIC DREAMS, VISIONS,

AND PRAYERS FOR THE DESTINY OF A NATION. And this is going to be a

prayer tool. I'm saying it's not only a tool of remembrance, a record of

remembrance of what God has spoken, but I've got prayers after every

dream entry that I share, a scripture verse, (7) AND THEN PRAYER TO

STIR OUR INTERCESSION.

There are some who question whether God still speaks prophetically

through dreams and visions. It will stir up a greater desire within the

reader to not only pursue the heart of God in prayer, but “eagerly desire

the spiritual gifts” according to 1 Corinthians 14:1. It will empower the

prayers of the saints on behalf of this nation to finish what God has

started.

Prophetic dreams, visions, and words recorded over the past twelve

years for the United States that will last into future generations. Most of

the words presented in this book don’t have a time stamp. But the

lessons taught within these “parables” live on. They are truths that need

to be remembered – and stood upon through ongoing prayer and

intercession.

Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but

blessed is he who keeps the law (Proverbs 29:18).

Prophetic Dreams, Visions, and Prayers: Some of these dreams and

visions now confirm a foreshadowing of certain key events and specific

leaders that have had a profound impact on this nation. these now

should not only strengthen our faith in the foreknowledge of God, but

should stir us in a deeper prophetic perspective of our journey.

It is clear that God is continually calling us to GREATER DISCERNMENT,

KEENER INSIGHT, and STRONGER CONVICTION in what we pray. At the

end of each word is a scripture verse and a short prayer to inspire further

insight and ongoing prayer.

Prophetic Words: There is a section of additional words from the Lord

received in times of prayer that admonish believers and the Body of

Christ in ONGOING SANCTIFICATION and the EMPOWERING OF THE

SPIRIT. These words are timeless reminders of our destiny as a nation

and our call as a people to hold fast to THAT WHICH HE HAS CALLED US

TO.

Pastors and Church Leaders: The Body of Christ is still struggling to come

to terms with our place in the public square and our voice into

governmental issues. A section is given specifically for pastors and church

leaders with some scriptural principles and practical recommendations

to consider in our political engagement. It is the pulpits in America that

must become the primary purveyors of truth and justice rather than the

platforms of the godless. We must learn how to raise our voices so that

Kingdom values can be embraced and championed as the strongest

values for any nation to be great.

Intercessors and Watchmen: The last section is for intercessors to

further fan the flame of prayer. These are words of ENCOURAGEMENT,

ADMONITION, and DIRECTIVES for THOSE (7) WHO KNOW THEY ARE

CALLED AS WATCHMEN in this nation. And though all of us are charged

to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-4), THERE (7) ARE THOSE WHO

KNOW THEY HAVE A (7) GOD-GIVEN BURDEN TO GIVE ADDITIONAL

TIME, ENERGY, (7) AND PRAYER TO STAND IN THE GAP.

Words For America’s Watchmen is a source of encouragement for the

Body of Christ as well as a tool for powerful and EFFECTIVE

INTERCESSION for the next generation. It will inspire readers in ongoing

prayer as well as stir a greater CELEBRATION OF PROPHECY THROUGH

DREAMS AND VISIONS. The words and prayers acknowledge God’s

faithfulness in speaking His Word as He both forthtells and foretells His

heart and His intentions for this great nation.

Because a lot of these dreams that I am sharing, they're timeless and they

carry within them lessons, insights, clues that will help empower our

prayers and to be strategic.

Because as (5) WE KNOW OUR SPIRITUAL ADVERSARY, HE CONTINUES

TO (5) WORK BEHIND THE SCENES TRYING (5) TO TAKE THIS NATION

DOWN. And so, the Lord really is (7) CALLING HIS WATCHMEN TO BE ON

GUARD.

But as I said, today I'm going to be uh sharing one of the dreams and it's

called PRISONER OF PROPAGANDA. And it's really going to be eye

opening. I had this back in 2022. So, what I'm going to share with you is

this chapter right as I have it in the book and I have them as entries and

at the beginning of each section, I show when I had the dream.

This was June 8, 2022. By this time in 2022, the pandemic had already

killed thousands, if not millions. The church at large was still just

beginning to realize the depth of wickedness at work in our national

institutions and our health care system. These dreams were confirming

these truths and calling for us to take a righteous stand to see these (5)

DEMONIC AGENDAS DESTROYED AND DISPLACED.

In this dream, I found myself in a dungeon with other captives. I could

see that the prisoners were purposely starved and uncared for. We hadn't

known each other that long, but because of our mutual plight, we had

formed a bond of fellowship.

We tried to encourage each other that it wouldn't be long until this was

all over. One of them was so thin he was afraid to even hug me. But we

were satisfied and steadfast in our faith. The next thing I saw was one of

these prisoners meeting with their captor. The one in charge was posing

as a compassionate woman and she had a doctor with her to care for this

patient.

They were checking out some of these captives, but I had a bad feeling

about it. Yes, as many of us did. I didn't trust her. The appointment was

supposedly over and I was hoping she let this prisoner go, but she tells

him that she has to give him something and starts to grab his arm.

Then she unexpectedly grabs the arm of the doctor sitting down in front

of them and rubs something on his arm. Well, at first the doctor appeared

as a kind black man who was simply caring for a patient. But when this

woman rubbed his arms, his eyes glazed over and he went into some kind

of trance.

He turned around and reached underneath a cabinet for something. At

this point, I can tell he had been programmed and had no idea what he

was really doing. I mean, this was a doctor caring for his patient. And he

pulled out a large black ball bat. I instinctively knew he was going to beat

the prisoner to death.

I now realized that this woman had programmed this doctor to kill his

own patient. He didn't even know that he would do it or that someone

had programmed him to do it.

That was the dream.

Well, this dream isn't hard to interpret. It illustrates the reality that we

live in a captured country. Again, this is 2022. We are being (5) HELD

HOSTAGE TO AN AGENDA (5) THAT SEEKS TO DESTROY US. BIG PHARMA

HAS HAD (5) A DEADLY AGENDA ALL ALONG. They are trying (5) TO

STARVE US TO DEATH. Not only are they (5) NOT FEEDING US THE

TRUTH, BUT THEY (5) ARE ALSO LITERALLY TRYING TO (5) DESTROY OUR

NATURAL FOOD SOURCES.

This has come out in recent years as well. It also clearly (5)

DEMONSTRATES HOW THE MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENT (5) HAS BEEN

CONTROLLED AND MANIPULATED to kill its own. I mean, this is

horrendous.

Now again, we're looking at the spiritual battle here and how it looks.

Plus, they have hijacked the entertainment industry to desensitize to

their methods of destruction. We've even idolized our medical programs

thinking they were saving us, when in actuality, (5) THEY'VE BEEN

But what we are shown is not just the what, but the how. There is (5)

Now, this is foreign to most of us, especially those in the West. We've

been (5) CLUELESS TO THE OCCULTIC PRACTICES that have been (5)

UTILIZED AGAINST US FOR DECADES, calling them conspiracy theories

and wacky right-wing views. We've been unwilling to consider the reality

of (5) THESE DARK ARTS BEING PERFORMED. I mean, this is, this is in the

there's now data to prove it.

I believe the Lord is calling US (7) TO PENETRATE THE DARKNESS WITH

SPIRITUAL EYES and a supernatural PERSPECTIVE (7) THAT CUTS

THROUGH THE UNBELIEF AND DECEPTION. He wants (7) US TO

ACKNOWLEDGE THE HOW OF THESE (7) WICKED AGENDAS SO THAT

OUR PRAYERS CAN (7) BE TARGETED AND OUR RESPONSES BE

EFFECTIVE.

And yet, there are still (7) SOME WHO ARE ASLEEP TO THIS AGENDA

2030, that they find it very hard to believe. Or they might think, "Oh, that

can't be happening to me." And unfortunately, I mean, I still have friends

and family members who are still just kind of yielding to the system, not

realizing the need to (7) STOP AND LOOK AND PRAY FOR DISCERNMENT.

Not everyone is complicit. I mean, what the dreams have consistently

shown me through the years, this is spiritual warfare. (5) THERE IS A

SYSTEMS IN OUR CULTURE. There's innocent people in those systems.

And I believe that there are doctors and nurses, many in the medical

establishment, they themselves are innocent. They have they're just

doing their jobs. They haven't realized what the people at the top have

been doing. And so, (7) THIS IS PART OF THE WAKEUP CALL.

The prophesied roar of the lion will only come from an awakened church

that is zealous enough to challenge those (5) WHO DARE ATTACK OUR

YOUNG. It's time to stop putting up (5) WITH THE DEVIL'S DEADLY

DISRUPTIONS and (5) EXPEL HIM FROM OUR TERRITORIES.

The POWER OF THE RISEN CHRIST (7) FAR EXCEEDS THE POWER OF HIS

DECEPTION. And it's time we start exercising our authority to reclaim

what's ours. This is one of the reasons I included this particular dream is

because it is a wakeup call not only to us as believers, but also our

churches, our church leaders, those even in leadership within our

culture, within our public square.

We can't just put up with this and hope that it's going to go away. No.

Like Paul, I think we need to become greatly annoyed. Thankfully, a lot of

people are becoming greatly annoyed and that's why we're hearing

about it more in the news.

But again, the (7) FOCUS HERE IS ON THE SPIRITUAL BATTLE. It is spiritual

before it's natural. And this is what (7) WE NEED TO STAND IN PRAYER

FOR (7) AS WATCHMEN THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE (7) ALERT TO THE

DEVICES OF THE ENEMY. We're going to help WARN OTHERS. We're

going to help EDUCATE OTHERS. and we're going to STAND IN PRAYER

this is what many are having to do even with the (5) STILL LINGERING

EFFECTS OF COVID. There's so many things that people are walking

through physically. (5) WE'RE NOW FINDING SYMPTOMS THAT (5) ARE

STILL RELATED TO THINGS (5) THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. (5)

THIS IS A LONG-TERM TRANSFORMATION and this is where our place in

prayer can make a big difference.

Ilwad Elman, chief operating officer of the Elman Peace Centre, said that

only recently had we “begun to draw the strong correlation and the

intersection of the two crises of human security and (that) caused by

ENVIRONMENTAL STRESSORS AND ENVIRONMENTAL AGGREGATION”

and added: “In Somalia, “we find ourselves right at the nexus of that.”

She added that food and water insecurity posed not only environmental

challenges but also had a “direct linkage to the desperation that yields

young people particularly to be motivated to join armed groups” — not

because they agreed with the ideology, but “to be able to survive.”

Elman explained the Elman Peace Centre works on “sustainable peace

building” and “the rehabilitation and reintegration of young people.” It

focuses on climate resilience even though that is not its main mandate

because “the environments we’re sending people back to are changing

so rapidly our peace building interventions were not sustainable,” she

said.

recently shifted from a very Global North perspective, overlooking the

that's more crucial now than ever. This chart is one that I think about a

lot. It's really my most favorite chart. You know, I consider it almost kind

of (5) A REPORT CARD FOR HUMANITY because over the last 25 years,

the reduction of under-five deaths has been far faster than any time in

history. We've gone from over 9 million to now half as many deaths taking

place by children.

Benefits of vaccines

This is an unbelievable result and it doesn't fully state (5) THE BENEFIT

OF THESE VACCINES. The vaccines leave a (5) LOT OF KIDS FAR MORE

HEALTHY and so their ability to achieve their potential is increased.

Vaccine safety

(5) GAVI PRIORITIZES SAVING LIVES AND it's (5) DONE WITH INCREDIBLE

SCIENTIFIC RIGOR. (5) WE'RE NOW CONSTANTLY IMPROVING VACCINES.

We're (5) CONSTANTLY LOOKING AT THE SAFETY. I'M VERY (5) PROUD

OF THE WORK THAT'S (5) DONE TO MAKE SURE THAT (5) THESE

VACCINES ARE INCREDIBLY SAFE.

Vaccine affordability

The founding of GAVI actually goes back to almost about the time, THE

GATES FOUNDATION was first started. And after 25 years, I can still say

that it's at the top of the list of things that I'm, I'm very, very proud of. At

that time, KIDS WERE (5) NOT GETTING ACCESS TO VACCINES. They were

too expensive. (5) THEY HADN'T BEEN FORMULATED PROPERLY.

I was stunned to learn that so many kids were dying from a disease like

roto virus because (5) THE VACCINE WASN'T GETTING OUT to all (5) THE

CHILDREN OF THE WORLD. (5) SO GAVI WAS CREATED TO not only help

finance (5) VACCINES BUT WORK WITH COUNTRIES (5) TO ADOPT THESE

NEW VACCINES.

We've done an amazing job getting these prices down. A good example

is the numaccoal vaccine PCV. This vaccine became available in high

income countries the year that GAVI was founded and it does a fantastic

job of protecting kids against pneumonia which was the single most

deadly childhood infection. But it was very expensive. And so GAVI and

(5) ITS PARTNERS INCENTIVIZED VACCINE MANUFACTURERS to develop

a new much cheaper PCV which was introduced in 2017.

Today, the manufacturers make PCV vaccines available to low and middle

income countries for just $2 a dose. And of course, we've seen similar

reductions across (5) ALL OF THE DIFFERENT VACCINES, allowing (5) US

TO ADD NEW VACCINES to save (5) EVEN MORE LIFE, MORE CHILDREN.

Since the founding of GAVI, the overall cost (5) OF FULLY VACCINATING

A CHILD has been cut in more than half.

Single dose vaccines

(5) AND WE HAVE A PIPELINE (5) OF NEW VACCINES COMING ALONG.

(5) VACCINES TO ADDRESS NEW DISEASES and that bring down costs

even further. A good example of this is the HPV vaccine. Cervical cancer

which HPV prevents is the fourth most common cancer in women around

the world. And this vaccine can prevent over 90% of these cases. But

countries were slow to adopt this vaccine in part because it was hard to

deliver. Initially it required three doses spread across 6 months.

Scientists believed that perhaps it could be done with fewer doses. And

so, THE GATES FOUNDATION funded a trial to see whether a single dose

was essentially fully protective. And after seeing the incredible results,

uh, THE WHO (5) APPROVED A SINGLE DOSE SCHEDULE in 2022. Now

we have 75 countries around the world have moved to this single dose

approach. And because the single dose is (5) CHEAPER AND EASIER TO

DELIVER, (5) IT'S NOW GETTING TO FAR (5) MORE GIRLS AROUND THE

WORLD. For example, after Nigeria introduced the single dose vaccine,

(5) IT WAS ABLE TO VACCINATE more than 12 million girls in less than a

year. That's really incredible.

Vaccine coverage

Across GAVI countries, HPD vaccine coverage has increased dramatically.

The year after this single dose approval, we doubled the number (5) OF

GIRLS GETTING THE VACCINE (5) AND WE DOUBLED IT AGAIN and this

(5) YEAR WE'LL DOUBLE IT AGAIN.

Improving health systems

Of course, there's more than just making vaccines available. We have to

work with our partner countries on (5) HELPING IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH

SYSTEMS. The GAVI ALLIANCE has spent a lot of its resources and a lot of

its technical support in helping improve (5) THOSE PRIMARY HEALTH

CARE SYSTEMS that are so vital. We've helped countries understand

where they're missing kids and how to invest in raising those coverage

levels.

As you've heard over this 25-y year period, that means over a (5) BILLION

CHILDREN HAVE BEEN VACCINATED, resulting in the saving of over 19

million lives. 19 million is a big number. It's almost easier to understand

if I just say, okay, here's a child whose life was saved. But you have to take

your reaction to how valuable that is and multiply it, you know, by this

absolutely gigantic number. The total cost to save those lives was about

$22 billion. And that means that GAVI saved children's lives for only

about $1,000 per life saved.

Economic benefits

And this is, this is in in addition the kids who these vaccines have kept

healthy not only go to school, they do well in school, they join the

economy, they contribute to their country. And really this is (5) WHY

IMPROVING HEALTH THROUGH VACCINES (5) IS PART OF THE FORMULA

(5) OF HELPING COUNTRIES BE SELF-SUFFICIENT. GAVI’SS VACCINATION

has generated 250 billion in economic benefits in the countries it

supports.

Support

In fact, GAVI has had such an extraordinary economic benefit that over

19 countries that were GAVI recipients have now graduated, meaning

they now fully (5) FUND THEIR OWN IMMUNIZATION PROGRAMS. A

great example is Indonesia. Since partnering with GAVI, it's (5) DOUBLED

THE NUMBER OF VACCINES offered (5) THROUGH ITS ROUTINE

IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM and it's seen childhood deaths fall to a

quarter of what they were before. And now Indonesia's not only

transitioned to be fully self-supportive, it's (5) ALSO BECOME A GAVI

DONOR.

Challenges

This is a challenging time. All the progress we've made is at risk. Budgets

are tight. And we all have to show our priorities when there's tough

trade-offs to be made. There's no denying this (5) IS A GLOBAL HEALTH

CRISIS. The US cuts and other funding cuts, aid in total, has gone down

by 30 billion this year alone. It reinforces the incredible values being

shown by the people who are showing up here today and being

incredibly generous.

Global Health Crisis

But with the cut in health resources along with the financial situation, a

lot of these low-income countries are in, we are going to have a few years

where things will go backwards. As we think about this, you know, think

of a mother who will bring a baby wheezing for breath to a health center.

And because the vaccines aren't available, that baby will not survive.

Think of a health worker trying to deal with a measles outbreak who

because there's less resources for that primary health care system, or our

vaccines, that means the measles epidemic will continue. This is

agonizing. I mean you know we have to put ourselves in the position of

the parents who lose these children and how tough it must be for them

to realize (5) THAT THE LIFE COULD HAVE (5) BEEN SAVED BY A VACCINE.

that costs just 30 cents.

We can come back

So, you know, our trend lines will briefly go into reverse. I believe that we

can come back. I believe that we (5) WILL RESUME THAT INCREDIBLE

PROGRESS that you saw. I don't know if it'll be in 2 years or four years or

6 years, but I do know that as we bring these resources back and we (5)

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AN INCREDIBLE (5) PIPELINE OF INNOVATION

Stay committed

So, everyone here I'd say is recommitting themselves just like THE GATES

FOUNDATION to doubling down and staying committed I'm not

pessimistic. In fact, we have things like polio eradication that we are this

close to elimination. That'll be a mind-blowing thing. Likewise, malaria,

we have tools, variety of tools that brought together will give us a chance

in the next 20 years to completely eradicate that as a disease just like

we're doing with polio. This is all why THE GATES FOUNDATION is

pledging 1.6 billion to GAVI (5) FOR THIS NEXT 5-YEAR PERIOD.

JEDDAH: The balance of capital markets, investor confidence, and Saudi

Arabia’s market performance took center stage at the ninth Future

Investment Initiative conference.

Speaking during the event, Khalid Al-Hussan, CEO of the Saudi Tadawul

Group, said the group maintains a high level of professionalism and

transparency as an institutional force in the Kingdom’s market, supported

by both local and international investors and increased capital inflows,

according to the Saudi Press Agency.

He highlighted the vast opportunities in Saudi capital markets, noting

that the Kingdom hosts two markets with more than 380 listed

companies, multi-billion-dollar investments, and several active financing

FINANCIAL MARKETS.

“Regarding the regulatory environment, Al-Hussan said it continues to

The Tadawul CEO emphasized that expanding market accessibility

remains a key pillar, adding that regulations are developing in response

to growing demand and new capital inflows.

He revealed that investments in the Kingdom have exceeded $110 billion,

with more than 4,400 new market participants. “These changes will

enhance access for a broader base of investors over the medium and long

term, driven by improved regulation and heightened investor interest in

Saudi markets.”

He also underlined the IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY AND

INNOVATION FOR FUTURE GROWTH, NOTING THE GROWING ROLE OF

Technology, he said, has become a national priority, with efforts

He pointed to significant legislative progress compared to previous years

and the market’s ongoing commitment to innovation and the

development of new financial products.

Al-Haqbani noted that the balance achieved in capital markets between

regulators and international investor confidence is beginning to yield

positive results, describing THE PIF AS A CORNERSTONE IN SUPPORTING

THE GROWTH OF SAUDI ARABIA’S CAPITAL MARKETS.

“He added that the Saudi economy remains strong and well-capitalized,

with substantial financial leaps in recent years — total capital flows rose

from SR1 trillion to SR2 trillion in 2024, while the number of listed

companies grew from 199 to more than 260. The total market value

increased by 3.5 percent in January 2024,” SPA reported, citing Al-

Haqbani.

On consistent investment strategies, Al-Haqbani said they serve as a key

asset, revealing that SR3 billion to SR4 billion has been allocated to

systematic strategies, representing 9 percent of targets, with plans to

reach 20 percent.

He noted that systematic strategies have grown by 8 percent compared

to traditional approaches, underscoring the POSITIVE IMPACT OF

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, DATA, AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES THAT

ARE RESHAPING INVESTOR PERCEPTIONS OF REGIONAL AND SAUDI

MARKETS.
