EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
RYAN LIVERGOOD
WNPL’s Transformation: An Update and an Invitation
When we began reimagining our library over a year ago, we
asked ourselves a simple question: “How can we serve you
better?” Today, I’m excited to share that we’re approaching
a major milestone in answering that question.
If you’ve visited recently, you’ve already seen some exciting
changes. Our new privacy booths provide quiet spaces for
calls and focused work. The café area offers a welcoming spot
to meet with friends or relax with a book. The marketplace
displays showcase popular materials, and they’re proving so successful that some units
need constant restocking because items are flying off the shelves!
Currently, we are in the final planning stages of the largest phase of our facilities
improvement project to date: a complete renovation of our youth areas and significant
upgrades throughout the library.
Starting in February 2026, we will transform Coco’s Cove into a dynamic, interactive
play space for children. We will create versatile seating areas throughout the library,
from quiet study spots to collaborative spaces, and enhance our adult areas with modern,
comfortable furniture.
The project is scheduled for completion by June 2026, just in time for summer reading.
Yes, there will be some temporary inconveniences. Our normal youth areas will be
closed and temporarily relocated into the Meeting Rooms. Portions of the library will be
completely closed for about a month during construction, most likely around May 2026,
but we are carefully planning to keep essential services accessible throughout the project.
The Board has committed significant funds to the renovation project, and we have carefully
budgeted to make the most of every dollar. But with additional community support through
this year’s annual appeal, we can take these improvements even further.
These are more than building upgrades; they are investments in our community. Your
support helps create stronger early literacy opportunities for toddlers, more engaging
spaces for teens, and welcoming areas for adults to learn, work, and connect.
We’re writing a new chapter in our library’s story, together. To learn more about making a
gift or sponsorship opportunities, please visit wnpl.info/annualfund25.
