Rewarding excellence among those promoting

the positive image of Africa and Africans

The Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards

was established by The Trumpet Newspaper

in 1999.

The Trumpet Newspaper had started publishing four

years earlier in 1995 – to combat the negative stories and

stereotypes about Africa and Africans - which was not a

true and complete reflection of the UK Diaspora African

community and the Continent. Trumpet Newspaper

highlighted the giant strides of Africa and Africans as a

way of promoting the positive image of the Community

and Continent.

The GAB Awards goes steps beyond the objectives of

Trumpet Newspaper, by rewarding excellence among

those who are promoting the positive image of Africa

and Africans.

The GAB Awards is open to Africans and Friends of

Africa who are promoting the positive image of Africa

and Africans.

Our milestones include the fact that we have hosted

events in London and Manchester – producing almost

300 GAB Awards recipients.

We also started the GAB Awards Future Gems – as a way

of showcasing numerous talents who are 35 years old

and under.

Many of our recipients are unsung achievers who have

gone on to launch themselves further and attained

greater heights.

The GAB Awards is the most prestigious and highlycoveted

Awards event within the Diaspora African

community in the United Kingdom.

Founder’s Foreword

Africa’s story is one of

greatness, promise, and destiny

It is with immense pride, deep gratitude, and great joy

that I stand before you once again, as we gather to

celebrate the brilliance, resilience, and achievements of

Africans across the global Diaspora.

Since our very first ceremony in 1999, the Gathering

of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards has been committed to

telling a different story about Africa - a story of excellence,

innovation, creativity, leadership, and hope. And tonight,

as we mark our 27th annual edition, that story continues

stronger than ever.

It’s a great pleasure to welcome you to the 27 th Annual

Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards and the 3 rd Annual

GAB Awards Future Gems.

When the GAB Awards began, it was born out of a conviction

- a belief that Africans at home and abroad were achieving

extraordinary things, yet were not being celebrated,

acknowledged, or seen. Too often, the narratives surrounding

our continent were narrow, negative, or incomplete. And so

we set out to create a platform that would shine a light on

the countless Africans making remarkable contributions to

society, culture, business, science, governance, education,

the arts, and community life. Twenty-seven years later, this

vision has not only endured - it has flourished.

The GAB Awards Future Gems demonstrates our commitment

to nurture the dreams of the next generation, inspiring them

to reach for the stars and contribute to the continued growth

and prosperity of our beloved continent. The GAB Awards –

Future Gems showcases an array of talents and future gems

under the age of 35.

Year after year, we witness Africans breaking boundaries,

setting global standards, and carrying the spirit of our

continent into every sphere of influence. We see pioneers,

innovators, and game-changers whose work does not

only benefit our communities but enriches the world.

And tonight, we gather to honour a minute few of them -

the best among us - the ones who remind us that Africa’s

greatest resources are her people.

Our award recipients this evening are living testimonies of

perseverance, dedication, and brilliance. They come from

diverse backgrounds and represent a broad spectrum

of disciplines. But they each share a unifying thread: a

commitment to excellence and a determination to uplift

humanity.

Whether they are entrepreneurs changing the business

landscape, artists reshaping culture, professionals driving change

in their industries, or community leaders empowering others,

they show us what is possible when talent meets purpose, and

when opportunity meets courage.

5

As we celebrate their achievements, we must also recognise

the importance of community. None of us rise alone. Our

awardees stand on the shoulders of those who believed in

them - families, mentors, colleagues, and communities that

supported their dreams. Tonight, we honour them as well.

We are grateful to God and all those He has used as instruments

over the last 27 years to ensure that GAB Awards survives,

thrives and flourishes. Thank you so much!

To our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who

have journeyed with us over the years - thank you. Your

dedication has kept the GAB Awards strong and relevant

for nearly three decades. You are part of the legacy we

celebrate tonight.

To the media, leaders, and friends of Africa who consistently

amplify our vision - we appreciate you. And to our

distinguished audience, thank you for lending your presence,

your voices, and your energy to this celebration.

But most importantly, to our award recipients - we salute

you. You carry the banner of African excellence with

dignity and distinction. Your achievements inspire not just

admiration but aspiration. You remind us that no matter

where we find ourselves - London, Lagos, Accra, Nairobi,

Johannesburg, Kigali, Freetown, or anywhere in the world

- Africans have the power to shape, influence, and elevate

the global stage.

As we step into this evening’s ceremony, may we remember

that the GAB Awards is not just an event. It is a movement.

A celebration of identity. A declaration of pride. A reminder

that the African story is one of greatness,

promise, and destiny.

May tonight re-energise our

commitment to celebrating

one another, supporting one

another, and building together.

Because when Africans rise,

the world rises with us.

Thank you and God bless

Finalist’s Bio

Tinuola Odunuga

Confidence Coaching

Tinu is an experienced and professional Confidence Coach, Author,

Consultant, Voiceover Artist and Keynote Speaker.

A few years ago, she decided to leave the comfort and stability of her life

in the United Kingdom (UK) to return to Nigeria to promote women welfare

in Edo State, Nigeria – despite not being an indigene of the State.

She engaged directly with government structures, including the Office of the

Commissioner for Women Affairs in Edo State to highlight the realities faced

by women at the grassroots level and to push for tangible, policy-level support.

She organised and supported community outreach programmes focused on

women’s health, economic empowerment, education, and protection from

abuse. She created safe spaces for women and girls to share their experiences, seek guidance, and access resources they

would otherwise not know existed; and acted as a bridge between the Diaspora and the home country, leveraging her

experience and networks in the UK to mobilize support, resources, and visibility for initiatives in Edo State.

Over the years, she has dedicated herself to motivating, empowering, and rebuilding confidence for individuals

navigating life’s setbacks, including disappointments, loss, divorce, bereavement, heartbreak, and personal

brokenness. Through her interactive workshops and coaching sessions, she provides a platform that transforms lives,

helping clients rise after falls. The success of her programmes is reflected in client feedback: they never complain

about the services; instead, they actively refer friends and colleagues to benefit from the experience.

As a Confidence Coach, she draws from her lived experiences, academic background, research, and life transitions.

Her career spans over 20 years in television and radio, and she holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management and

Human Resources Management. These experiences have enriched her knowledge and honed her ability to guide

others toward unshakable confidence.

Esther Adekemi Olorunfemi

Entrepreneurship

Esther Adekemi Olorunfemi also

known as Estree is a seasoned

business woman with thriving

businesses in the UK and Nigeria. She

is the Managing Director and Chief

Executive Officer of Enablement Care

Services in Harrow – which provides

care services for adults with autism,

learning/physical disabilities and

mental health.

Her journey in the UK started with

her initially working as a Project

Coordinator at Greenwich Council’s

Housing Department, helping people

overcome homelessness.

In 2007, circumstances beyond her control meant that

she had to take on a job as a Carer - earning minimum

wage - something far removed from her prior experience.

Her mother’s usual saying that: “Whatever is worth doing

at all is worth doing well” propelled her as she progressed

from a Junior Carer to a senior role, eventually becoming

a Care Coordinator and, later, a Manager. She invested in

herself by completing vocational training in health and

social care, which positioned her as an expert in the field.

In 2016, she finally registered her care company, despite

numerous challenges, including a legal battle with her

former employer.

The major breakthrough came during the COVID-19

pandemic. Although it was a challenging time,

Enablement Care Services took in clients whom others

turned away due to fears of the virus. The government’s

loan for Care organisations also helped us stay afloat and

expand. Despite the risks, it was a turning point for the

company’s growth.

Today, Enablement Care Services operates multiple

branches catering to clients with learning disabilities,

autism, mental health issues, and challenging behaviour.

It also has units for drug and alcohol rehabilitation and

respite care.

After her husband’s death, she opened another branch

for Autistic Spectrum Disorder. While the journey has had

its setbacks, including losing a key facility, the company

continues to rebuild and expand.

She intertwines her corporate success with a deep

passion for fitness and music. She loves to keep fit and

look fashionable while helping other women to live

healthy and stylish and fit through

her fashion brands – Estree London

and House of Estree.

Her passion for fashion started in

the UK, where she loved blending

Ankara with suits.

She also owns Estree Suites which

offers luxury and comfortable

accommodation’

Operating in the Events space, she

runs Estree Media which provides

360 photo-booths.

A fitness related brand is expected

soon.

Esther Adekemi Olorunfemi is also a Social Media

Influencer and Content Creator who uses her platform

to educate, motivate, influence people to live a healthy

and fulfilling life while balancing it out by participating in

social activities and networking.
