all of your student’s experiences are as engaging as they are exciting.

Intersession Outcomes
Intersession is more than a break from classroom learning: It’s an
opportunity to engage the world through hands-on learning, travel,
service, and authentic experiences.

In every experience, our goals are to:
Deepen students’ relationship with Christ through meaningful, real-world learning.
Students engage in experiences that inform and form them by the gospel, equipping
them to embody God’s love and actively participate in restoring wholeness in the world
while developing integrity and purpose.
Extend and apply learning.
Intersession courses serve as authentic, project-based extensions of the classroom.
They count for academic credit and include clear, identifiable learning outcomes.
They align with a CHCA content discipline (service immersion courses are the exception),
and they challenge students to apply, deepen, or explore new concepts connected to
regular coursework. Each course is intentionally designed to develop all five facets of
the Portrait of an Eagle and includes a proof of learning, such as a product, presentation,
or performance.
Build community and collaboration.
Intersession fosters relationships through shared, collaborative experiences. Small
course sizes encourage meaningful peer and faculty connections. Students work in
collaborative groups, promoting teamwork and leadership skills. Faculty engage
with students across disciplines, creating a more connected school culture.

Course Placement
It’s our desire that every student can enjoy the Intersession experiences
that speak to their passions the most.
Once Intersession course options open, you will be asked to submit your student’s top four
Intersession course choices online. We encourage all families to review each option thoroughly,
keeping in mind:
Travel and meeting dates
Availability
Subject matter and experiences
Expense
When placing students, our team will consider your student’s top-ranked courses as well as
current availability.
To ensure the highest number of students are placed into their top course choice, some
students may be assigned to courses without other friends or students in their grade.
Part of Intersession is meeting new people and encountering new situations. Trust that
God has plans for your child while they explore their interests and make new friends.
How It Works
When placing your student into an Intersession course, our team does consider:
Grade. Priority is given to seniors, followed by juniors, sophomores, then freshmen.
Previous international Intersession courses. Within their grade level, students who
have not traveled internationally in prior years will be given priority for international
courses over students who have traveled internationally in past years.
We do not consider:
Previous course requests. Since course
offerings differ dramatically each year,
and because grade level priority generally
makes placement in top choices more likely
as a student progresses, we do not consider
last year’s requested choices.
Service hour/trip needs. Many service
opportunities exist outside of Intersession
and throughout the school year. Our team
will not consider your student’s current
service hour needs. If they are looking for
more service hours, encourage your child
to connect with Student Organized Service
(SOS) for a list of service opportunities.
4 Tips for
Your Top 4
1. Choose four distinct courses.
Requesting a course more than once
may seem like a loophole to guarantee
placement in your top choice, but it’s
not. Neither is requesting a course you’ve
already taken. (Since each Intersession
course appears on your transcript, you
can’t repeat it.) Don’t waste four precious
slots on one shot: Be open to unique
experiences!
2. Consider your passions.
Love food? How about travel? Maybe
working with your hands? With so many
Intersession courses to choose from,
there’s bound to be more than one that
piques your interest. Explore them all
and consider how you can grow your gifts
outside of the classroom.
3. Think about schedules.
For Intersession experiences that require
transportation (both locally, nationally,
and internationally), travel may occur
outside of normal school days and hours.
Keep this in mind when selecting your top
four so you don’t miss your ride.
4. Have fun!
Now is the time to explore and grow.
Find courses that spark your sense of
adventure and ones that challenge you
to grow socially and spiritually. It’s often
the courses students didn’t expect that
become the ones they’ll never forget.
Once course placements have been made,

Course Grades
Each Intersession course includes opportunities for students
to demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways.
Whether a product, presentation, or performance, students are challenged to produce
assignments or complete tasks that reflect the concepts they’ve learned through lived
experiences. This proof of learning determines the final Intersession course grade.
Grades reflect engagement, the quality of work completed, and the learning outcomes
specific to the course.
Final Intersession grades will appear on your student’s high school report card and transcript.
One Intersession credit is required for graduation; each of a student’s four Intersession
experiences earns .25 credit.

Investment
We are committed to helping every student enjoy their Intersession
experience, and as such, our team works diligently to provide course
options accessible to all families.
Scholarships are currently available for senior students only. Information about the
scholarship process will be sent in an email to parents of seniors. Awards will be given prior to
course selection so families can plan for their top four course options.
Note: Tuition payments take precedence over Intersession payments. If an account is not
current with tuition, automatic payments for Intersession courses through UltraCamp will be
applied to tuition payments first.
Changes & Cancellations
Student demand determines our final course offerings. Every year,
we anticipate two-to-three course cancellations. Cancellation decisions
are made during placement so students requesting those courses are not
disadvantaged in the process.
Once placement emails have been sent, courses will not be canceled.

In the rare event that all four of your student’s course options are filled by students with higher
priority and/or are canceled, our Intersession Coordinator will contact you with new options to
ensure your student will be equally considered with his/her priority group.
Because we make cancellation and viability decisions about courses based on full participation
by students in one of their top four selections, we cannot make changes once placement
emails have been sent and the course roster has been finalized. (The only exception to this
rule is for medical reasons unknown at the time of course optioning.)

Deadline for ISP students to submit
course choices to Mrs. Juneau.
(Note: Host families do not submit
online options for ISP students.)
April 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.:
Deadline to submit course choices
online and be considered on time.
May 15, 2026:
Course placement email sent to parents;
UltraCamp registration opens.
May 29, 2026:
Deadline to complete registration and
pay deposit in UltraCamp to keep
student’s place in assigned course.
June 3, 2026:
Waitlist placements begin. (Students who
have not completed their UltraCamp
registration/deposit and are assigned to
a course with a waitlist may be removed
from the course; a waitlisted student may
be placed in the course.)
June 12, 2026:
$50 late registration fee applied to all
students who have not completed their
online registration.
August 7, 2026:
Automatic payment withdrawn for
courses $2,000+.
September 4, 2026:
Automatic payment withdrawn for
courses $200+.
