Fashion Tip 101:

The Art of Power

Dressing

ByOmaDamian

Power dressing should be a

niche on its own, as it presents

one with the confidence

to face everyday life. But

power dressing has changed.

Today, it’s less about quality

and more about identifying

oneself. Modern power dressing keeps

the structural Lessons of the past — fit,

proportion, and clarity — and mixes them

with personality, comfort, and cultural

awareness.

Think fewer costume-like uniforms

and more garments that communicate

confidence while staying true toyour

identity. Designers and street style in

2023–24 favour tailored silhouettes with

softer edges, bold colourways, and

texture play, showing that power can be

both subtle and loud.

Power dressing should never mean

unsustainable consumption. Buy fewer,

better pieces; alter them to fit; and

explore vintage or made-to-measure

options. Also, power is for everyone —

tailor the rules to your body, culture, and

identity. Authority isn’t a look; it’s presence

— and presence can take many

beautiful forms.

1. Fit first. A garment that fits

communicates care and control.

Tailoring — even a cheap blazer

altered at the waist — instantly

looks more authoritative than an

off-the-rack piece that hangs

wrong.

4

www.glamsquadmagazine.com

FASHION

2. Clear lines & proportion.

Clean seams, defined shoulders

or a cinched waist, and balanced

lengths (think blazer + midi skirt or

blazer + tapered pant) create a

composed silhouette.

3. Colour with intention. Saturated hues —

jewel tones, confident neutrals, or a well-chosen

red — read as purposeful. Colour psychology

matters: certain tones convey energy (reds),

stability (navy), or freshness (emerald). Use

colour to set the tone you want.

4. Quality details. A good button,

neat lapel, quality fabric, and

strong stitching read as investment

and attention to detail. Accessories.

RUNWAY REPORT

Balmain

Fall/Winter

2025

Collection

ByOmaDamian

Olivier Rousteing’s fourteen-year tenure at Balmain

reshaped the storied Parisian house into a global force

defined by bold silhouettes, celebrity glamour, and

emotionally resonant storytelling.

As creative director from 2011, he fused sharp couture

craftsmanship with a pop-era bravado — power shoulders,

sequins, and red-carpet appeal became his signature.

Rousteing’s Balmain, as always, leaned into signature

exaggeration, with silhouettes amplified both in scale and

drape, complemented by opulently winding thigh-high boots. A

burgundy leather jumpsuit featuring a shawl collar-hood exuded

sophistication while echoing the nomadic drama that defined

Rousteing’s fashion explorations at the start of the decade

Peplums appeared as a respectful homage to the house’s

founder. His iconic stripes lingered, subtly reimagined; zebrainspired

ensembles arrived with a gentler touch, yet many were

rendered in lustrous, seductive beadwork with commanding

proportions, weaving a continuous thread between past

grandeur and present innovation.

The celebrated grey knits offered a noticeably softer

alternative to the usual boldness of Rousteing’s Balmain, yet the

silhouettes still embraced his signature exaggeration in both

scale and drape, paired with luxuriously flowing thigh-high boots.

Meanwhile, the burgundy leather jumpsuit with a shawl-collar

hood exuded refinement while clearly echoing the nomadically

dramatic phase of Rousteing’s aesthetic.

“Imisi”

Ayanwale’s Imisioluwa’s Journey

Beyond the Big Brother House

By Martina Akonthe

When Opeyemi “Imisi” Ayanwale

stepped out of the Big Brother

Naija (BBNaija) house as the Season

10 winner on 5th October

2025, she didn’t just leave with

a crown; she left with a story. A story of quiet

strength, unexpected courage, and the kind

of softness that still knows how to stand firm. At

just 23, the fashion designer-turned-reality-star

became the face of a new wave of young

Nigerians rewriting their future, one bold choice

at a time.

Reality TV Shows: Nigeria’s New Celebrity

Machine

In today’s world, it is not out of place to say

that becoming a celebrity no longer requires

decades in the entertainment industry. Reality

TV shows have changed the

rules. Big Brother Naija, especially,

has become a launchpad

where hidden talents

meet national attention.

Every season, the show

gives young Nigerians a

unique chance to showcase

their creativity, resilience, personality,

and dreams. It is a

space where natural storytellers,

fashion lovers, entrepreneurs,

dancers, digital creators,

and emotional thinkers all

find expression. Viewers watch

contestants laugh, fight, love,

create, break down, rebuild,

and grow, and in the process,

they choose who they want to

elevate.

Beyond entertainment,

BBNaija represents something

deeper: possibility. The

possibility that your life can

change if you dare to show

up as yourself.

The show is more than a

cultural force for many housemates;

it becomes a launchpad

into acting, music, content

creation, and business.

It also mirrors the reality of

Nigerian youth today, capturing

their dreams, struggles,

and ambitions.

Beyond that, the show

works like a social experiment.

The friendships and romances

formed in the house often

spark nationwide conversations

about love, loyalty, and

the pressures that come with

fame.

The Big Brother Legacy - A

Quick Journey Through the

Seasons

Since its first season in

2006, Big Brother Naija has

produced strong personalities

who have gone on to shape

entertainment and pop culture.

From Katung Aduwak’s win

in Season 1 when it was Big

Brother Africa, to Efe, Miracle,

Mercy Eke, Laycon, Whitemoney,

Phyna, Ilebaye, Kellyrae,

and now Imisi, the show

has consistently delivered

new stars. Each winner reflects

the mood of their generation:

confidence, hustle, vulnerability,

creativity, boldness.

Scandals and Controversies

that Shook BBNaija

As a show filled with

housemates with different personalities

and backgrounds,

no season is complete without

drama. Some scandals became

national conversations,

relationships exposed, private

moments caught on camera,

clashes among housemates,

and emotional breakdowns

that revealed the pressure of

living under 24-hour surveillance

Some of the biggest scandals

to rock the show include:

Thin Tall Tony & Bisola (Season

2): The affair between

Anthony Edet, better known as

Thin Tall Tony, and Bisola Aiyeola

stirred up major controversy

when it emerged that the

former was already married

Nina & Miracle (Season

3): They were caught in a

romantic and later sexual relationship

on camera, sparking

a heated debate about

morality, exploitation, and

consent on the show.

Teddy A & BamBam (Season

3): For Tope Adenibuyan,

better known as Teddy A and

Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan,

better known as BamBam,

their bedroom and even

REPORTAGE

bathroom moments in the

house made headlines, but

their controversial romance

didn’t end there; they married,

silenced critics, and now

have two children.

Ka3na & Praise (Season

6): The intimacy between

Kate Jones, better known

as Ka3na, and Praise in the

house took fans by surprise,

considering Ka3na’s pre-existing

marriage and her constant

denial of being married.

Erica & Kidwaya (Season

6): The intimacy between

these two became a focal

point of that season with Erica

visibly turning down the affection

from Laycon and consequently

becoming his enemy

(they settled their differences

after the show).

These scandals highlight

how BBNaija blurs lines between

game, emotion, and

real life, drawing both strong

criticism and massive viewership.

The show has also birthed

real love stories such as

that of BamB am & Teddy A;

the house, surprised critics

by marrying, and are now

blessed with children. BBNaija

reminds us that even in a

game, the heart can choose

its own direction.

Imisi’s Love in the House

Imisi’s love life became one

of the talking points of the

season. She openly admitted

she had feelings for a few

housemates, Kaybobo, Rooboy,

Jason (Jae), and Victory,

a confession that sparked

curiosity, debate, and excitement

among fans.

There were misunderstandings,

accusations,

clarifications, and emotional

moments, but through it all,

she maintained her honesty.

After the show, Kola, another

housemate, publicly stated

their relationship was purely

sibling-like, proof that not

every connection has to turn

romantic.

Imisi’s Sour Relationship with

her Mother

The relationship between

Imisi and her mother, Rashidat,

has become deeply

complicated and very public.

During her time in the

Big Brother Naija house, Imisi

made shocking claims that

she was forced to leave home

at the age of 12. According

to her, she ended up seeking

refuge in a church storeroom,

where, she says, she was

raped, a moment she identifies

as a major source of their

estrangement.

But after her victory, her

mother broke her silence. In

videos circulated online, she

denied ever abandoning

Imisi. Instead, she shared that

she had quietly been living

with her younger sister in Ajah,

supported by kind people

in her community. She also

insisted she was never told

about the rape allegation

Imisi made.

As criticism rained down,

Rashidat claimed she only

learned about Imisi’s eviction

from the show a few hours

before the finale. She further

claimed she had taken

spiritual steps to help Imisi

win Big Brother Naija. She

also said her daughter had

given her one hundred and

fifty thousand Naira only, but

accused Imisi of exaggerating

how much she was being

supported, even calling her

out for using their strained

relationship for content.

Meanwhile, Imisi has responded

firmly. She says she

has not neglected her moth-

er, insisting that her family

remains her priority. She

claims she’s doing her best

to support her mother and

her siblings, emotionally

and financially, even as

the public watches every

move.

This very public dispute

has left many Nigerians

torn. while some call for

reconciliation, noting that

a mother and daughter

should heal in private. Others

condemn the airing of

deep-seated family issues

on social media. Either

way, what’s clear is that

this is not a simple story

of fame; it’s a raw, painful

portrait of a fractured

bond, and for Imisi, maybe

a chance to lead with

truth and healing.

What Comes After the

Win?

While many winners

chase quick investments,

Imisi has taken a calm

and wise approach. She

has said she wants to seek

proper financial advice

before making major decisions

with her prize money.

Her focus is on stability,

long-term planning, and

Imisi’s Quiet Loss

One of the most

heart-wrenching revelations

Imisi made during

Big Brother Naija was how

she once lost her child.

She said she was pregnant

and, deeply in love, but

overwhelmed, and endured

months of emotional

stress, which tragically lost

the baby at four months.

She didn’t hide the cause

of her loss as she blamed

a toxic relationship.

After the show, Imisi

revealed in one of her

media rounds that this loss

happened weeks before

she auditioned for Big

Brother Naija. It was a raw,

private grief she brought

into the house, not hidden,

but carried quietly. “The

whole thing was overwhelming.”

emotional healing.

Brands are watching. Fans

are waiting. The entertainment

industry is expecting.

But Imisi is choosing to build

slowly, and there is beauty in

that.

A Future Crowned in Confidence

Imisi’s story is not about

overnight fame. It is about

quiet resilience. It is about

showing up honestly in a

world that rewards performance.

It is about choosing

healing over noise, intention

over rush, and authenticity

over pressure.

As she steps into the next

chapter of her life, one thing

is clear:

Imisi is not just a Big Brother

winner; she is a young woman

becoming. And that, in itself,

is a beautiful beginning.

Glam Guide:

Festive Fashion Looks

That Slay Every Party

By Adewumi Victoria

The festive season always comes

with that electricity in the air. The soft

glow of lights, the endless invites, the

laughter that refuses to end. And of

course, the fashion looks that deserve

their own standing ovation. If you want

to walk into every party and make the

room pause for a moment, this glam

guide is your ticket.

The Classic Glitter Girl

Nothing says festive quite like sparkle. A sequin

mini dress or a glitter-drenched gown instantly puts

you in celebration mode. The secret is confidence.

Sparkle has a way of attracting eyes, so carry it on

your chest. A soft glam face, glossy lips and sleek

hair complete the magic.

The Velvet Luxury Look

Velvet is the fabric that whispers elegance.

Whether you choose a deep wine gown, a green

corset dress or a royal blue two-piece, velvet

brings richness without you trying too hard. It

photographs beautifully, too, so prepare for

camera slay.

The All White Angel Moment

White during the holidays is criminally underrated.

It is clean, fresh and powerful. Think a white slip

dress with pearl accessories or a structured white

jumpsuit with bold heels. The beauty of white is the

34

www.glamsquadmagazine.com

way it glows under warm lights at night events.

FASHION

The Metallic Goddess

Gold, silver and bronze are festive royalty. A

metallic skirt with a simple corset top instantly

elevates your look. Metallic fabric catches light

in the best way, making you look like you are

wrapped in luxury. Keep accessories minimal so

the outfit can shine on its own.

The Playful Chic Look

Not every party calls for dramatic gowns. A

cute mini dress, a corset and jeans combo or a

statement blazer with shorts can still give premium

glam energy. Add a bold bag or dramatic

earrings to keep it fun and youthful.

The Perfect Party Beauty Look

Your outfit sets the tone, but glam seals the deal.

Here is the beauty cheat code: Soft matte skin,

Fluffy brows, A golden inner eye glow, Glossy lips,

A scent that smells like trouble in a pretty bottle.

This festive season is the best time to show up

your glamorous style and unique looks you have

saved up all year. Be colourful and glamorous look

you rock as well.

FASHION ESCAPE

Street Style Spotlight:

The New Lagos Cool

in Bold Colours, Clean

Lines and Confident

Women

By Adewumi Victoria

A

New Energy on the Streets of

Lagos. Lagos has always been a

city of flair and movement, but in

recent years, a fresh style identity

has taken shape. It is modern yet

rooted, bold yet effortless. The New Lagos

Cool is led by women who understand

fashion as a language, and they speak it

with confidence and intention.

Colour as a Form of Expression

One of the most striking elements of Lagos

street style is the fearless use of colour. Bright

oranges, deep greens, electric blues, and

warm yellows fill the streets like strokes on a

living canvas. Lagos women have mastered

the art of using colour to express mood,

mood to express presence, and presence to

express identity. Nothing is muted. Everything

is vibrant and alive.

Clean Lines for the Modern Woman

Alongside the bold colour palette, the style

of Lagos is evolving toward cleaner lines

and stronger silhouettes. Tailored trousers,

structured tops, crisp shirts, and sleek

two-piece sets have become everyday

essentials. The look is polished but never

stiff. It reflects a woman who is in control

of her life and her style, blending comfort

with elegance in a way that feels naturally

powerful.

Confidence as the Real Trend

The true heartbeat of the New Lagos Cool

is confidence. Lagos women dress with

purpose. They select pieces that reflect their

ambition, creativity, and resilience. Whether

they are entrepreneurs, students, creatives,

or corporate leaders, their style conveys to

the world exactly who they are without a

single word.

The influence of this street style movement

is growing beyond Nigeria. African designers,

content creators, and fashion lovers are

drawing inspiration from the Lagos aesthetic.

It is contemporary but proudly African.

Refined but expressive. Elegant but daring.

Lagos has become a style capital where

tradition and modernity meet in perfect

balance.

The Spirit of Lagos in Every Look

The New Lagos Cool is more than clothing. It

is energy. It is pride. It is the boldness to take

up space and look beautiful doing it. From

colour to cut to confidence, Lagos women

are defining what modern African style looks

like. And the world is paying attention.

BEAUTY

Detty December is fast approaching,

and it’s time to get that glowing skin

before it’s too late! If you want a

glow that looks like you slept eight

hours, drank more water than usual,

and got a mini facial every morning

— but in reality, you only swapped a few

products and rituals — this is your game plan.

I did a little deep dive, so these steps are

friendly for normal, busy lives, and kind to

sensitive skin, too. So get your list out as we’re

about to start! We’ll focus on barrier-friendly

ingredients (think hyaluronic acid, niacinamide,

ceramides), gentle brighteners, smart

exfoliation, and yes — sunscreen — because

glow without protection is like a holiday cookie

with no frosting.

Follow the 12-day countdown below:

each day is short, specific, and builds toward

luminous, holiday-ready skin.

The Basics (Do these every day)

Cleanse gently in the morning and at

night (avoid harsh foaming if your skin is dry

or irritated). Swap to a cream or hydrating gel

cleanser.

Moisturise while skin is damp (locks in

hydration). Look for ceramides or glycerin.

Sunscreen every morning — even in winter.

Broad-spectrum SPF protects brightness and

prevents dark spots. Seriously, please don’t skip

it.

BEAUTY

Day 12 — Prep & Prioritise

Start simple: toss any expired items and make a

tiny list of what you already have (vitamin C? hydrating

serum? SPF?). A tidy routine = easier to follow.

Day 11 — Hydration Baseline

Introduce (or ramp up) a hyaluronic acid serum.

Put it on damp skin, then follow with moisturizer to seal.

Hydrated skin reflects light — instant glow.

Day 10 — Brighten (Gentle Vitamin C)

If you don’t already use vitamin C, add a lowconcentration,

stable derivative (sodium ascorbyl

phosphate or ascorbyl glucoside) into your morning

routine. It brightens, fights free radicals, and plays well

with most moisturisers. Patch-test first.

Day 9 — Barrier Boost

Use a cream that lists ceramides and/or

niacinamide. These ingredients repair the skin barrier

and even tone — essential before any brightening step.

Day 8 — Gentle Exfoliation

Swap harsh scrubs for a mild chemical exfoliant

(PHAs or low-percentage lactic acid). Once or twice this

week to remove dull surface cells without inflaming your

skin. Over-exfoliation kills glow. Be gentle.

Day 7 — Eye & Smile Line TLC

Add an eye cream or gel with peptides or a

light hyaluronic formula. Massage gently to boost

circulation. The undereye brightening effect is subtle

but cumulative.

Day 6 — Mask Night (Hydration)

Treat yourself to a single-use sheet mask or overnight

hydrating mask. Look for glycerin, hyaluronic acid,

and ceramides. This is a quick in-bed spa moment that

plumps skin and gives a soft, dewy finish.

Day 5 — Neck & Decolletage Love

Extend your products below the jawline. Neck and

chest show age fast — use moisturiser and Sunscreen is

there too.

Day 4 — Swap Your Makeup Primer

If you wear makeup, try a hydrating or brightening

primer (silicone-free if your skin likes to breathe). A

light-reflecting primer amps the glow without a heavier

foundation.

Day 3 — Sleep + Supplements Check

Aim for better sleep hygiene tonight — dark room,

phone away 30 minutes before bed — sleep is when

skin repairs. Consider adding an omega or collagensupport

supplement if that’s your jam (talk to a doc first).

Day 2 — Professional Boost (Optional)

If you want a clinical nudge: schedule a

microdermabrasion, chemical peel, or gentle laser.

AFTER discussing it with a pro, winter is often a safer

season for treatments because sun exposure is lower. If

you prefer at-home, stick to the gentle exfoliation and a

brightening mask.

Day 1 — The Glow Finale

This is the holiday morning: do your full routine

(cleanse → hyaluronic serum → vitamin C → moisturiser

→ sunscreen). Add a light facial massage (jade/

stone tool or your fingers) to increase radiance. Finish

with a dewy setting spray or a touch of highlighter on

cheekbones — Subtlety wins.

Beauty Zone:

Skin Like Silk –

The 2025 Glow

By Oma Damian

2025 has been such a long year, and

honestly, I think you deserve a break from

the stress to treat your skin. Why not let me

be your guide to that perfect skin that is

soft to the touch!

With AI-guided skincare and smart beauty

devices becoming mainstream, the glow of 2025

is effortless, intelligent, and long-lasting.

To get that soft, velvety, lit-from-within finish,

focus on ingredients that smooth texture and

strengthen the barrier.

Hydrators:

Hyaluronic acid, glycerin, amino acids

Barrier builders: Ceramides, fatty acids, squalane

Brighteners (non-irritating):

Tranexamic acid, niacinamide, bioferments

Smoothers:

Peptides, fermented essences

These aren’t harsh or stripping — they create a

glow that comes from balance, elasticity, and

moisture retention, not irritation. Silk skin is steady,

soft, and naturally luminous.

Barrier Repair:

Barrier repair continues to dominate in 2025,

with ingredients like ceramides, niacinamide,

panthenol and squalane being central. A strong

skin barrier means your skin retains moisture

better, giving you that soft, plump feel instead of

looking flaky or dull.

Home for the Holidays -

Cosy, Chic &

Christmas-

Ready Interiors

By Martina Akanthe

www.glamsquadmagazine.com

One would agree

that Christmas has a

magical quality. When

December arrives, the

air softens, nights shine

brighter, and every space seems

ready for warmth. Home becomes

more than just walls and furniture; it

transforms into a haven of comfort,

joy, and meaning.

Whether you live in a small

apartment, a spacious house, or

simply want to enhance your office

or event centre, Christmas provides

an opportunity to create an

atmosphere that lifts the spirit and

welcomes every heart.

BEAUTY

The Heart of Christmas Decor

Christmas decorations are more

than ornaments. They represent joy,

hope, and celebration. In many

homes, decorating for Christmas

has become a cherished tradition,

a moment to pause, breathe, and

create beauty.

Red and green are the colours of

the season: green for life, hope,

and renewal; red for love, warmth,

and the blood of Christ. The right

decor can turn ordinary spaces into

warm, inviting scenes that feel like

a gentle hug. The beautiful season

reminds us that light came into

the world, so our homes naturally

respond with light, colour, bell

jingles and comfort during the

season.

Cosy & Chic Decoration Ideas for

Christmas

Warm Lighting - The Soul of

Christmas: Christmas begins with

lighting. Fairy lights, warm lamps,

and soft glows instantly transform a space.

• Wrap fairy lights around shelves, windows, or curtain

rods.

• Use warm-tone bulbs to make rooms feel softer.

• Place candles (real or flameless) on tables, corners, or

mantles.

Tip: Pair lights with red and green ribbons or accents

to bring the Christmas spirit alive. Light is symbolic - it

reminds us of the Light that came into the world.

A Statement Christmas Tree: You should understand

that your tree doesn’t have to be huge to be beautiful.

Whether big or small, natural or artificial, a welldecorated

tree becomes the heart of your home.

• Stick to red and green ornaments for a classic feel.

• Add ribbons, bows, or jingle bells.

• Place boxes of gifts wrapped in red or green at the

base for a polished finish.

Even a tabletop tree in red and green can create a

magical festive atmosphere.

Chic Christmas Corners: Create a small

“Christmas nook” in any part of your home.

• A table with candles, pinecones, and red

and green ornaments.

• A bowl or tray filled with berries, cookies or

sweets.

Even one corner can uplift the whole space.

Holiday Scents: Make your home smell like

Christmas.

• Scented candles in cinnamon, pine, berry,

or vanilla.

• Essential oil diffusers.

• Fresh pine branches with touches of red

berries.

• Photo corners with backdrops and red-andgreen

accents

An event space can feel simple and

magical with classic Christmas colours and

textures.

Whether you add a few lights or decorate

every corner, your home can shine with

Christmas magic. A cosy, chic, Christmas-ready

space doesn’t need to be expensive. You can

create beautiful decorations with everyday

items you can easily find around you. This

season, may your home, office, or event space

reflect the true spirit of Christmas: joy, comfort,

and hope.

Scent is powerful - it instantly sets the mood.

Soft Textures & Warm Fabrics: Replace your

regular cushions with festive red or green ones.

Lay a cosy throw blanket in deep red or forest

green on the sofa. You can also use warmtoned

fabrics like cream or gold as a base

with red and green accents. Soft textures and

classic colours make the home feel comforting

and ready for Christmas.

Decorating Offices & Event Centres

Office Christmas Vibes

Keep it elegant, festive, and professional:

• A small red-and-green desk tree

• Christmas doors or walls decor

• A string of red and green lights across the

shelves

• Holiday mugs or candy jars for staff

The goal is to create warmth without

overwhelming the workspace.

Event Centre Transformation

Christmas décor can instantly elevate events,

weddings, and parties.

• Tall pine tree decorated with fairy lights

• Fabric drapes in red, green, white, or gold

Gifting in Style -

The Ultimate 2025

Christmas Gift

Guide

By Martina Akanthe

As the year draws to a close and December lights

begin to glow around the world, the world enters

a season filled with warmth, joy, and reflection.

Christmas is more than a holiday; it is a feeling,

a reminder of hope, love, and the beauty of giving.

In 2025, the concept of gifting has taken on a new

meaning. People want gifts that feel personal, thoughtful,

and stylish, without needing to break the bank.

This guide is designed to help you find gifts that leave

a lasting impression, gifts your friends and family will

proudly display to others, gifts that touch the heart.

Why We Celebrate Christmas

Christians all over the world celebrate Christmas as

the birth of Jesus Christ, the greatest gift ever given to

mankind by God. “For unto you is born this day in the city

of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.” - Luke 2:11

While Christmas reminds us of God’s love shown

through His Son, it is worth noting that December 25th isn’t

the exact date Jesus was born; it was only chosen by the

Church in Rome years back, and it has been observed

as a season of joy, gathering, and gratitude.

The Wise Men and the Spirit of Giving

According to the Bible, when Jesus was born in a

manger, three wise men, directed by the star, visited

Jesus with gifts, which carried meaning: Gold (which

recognises Jesus as king), Frankincense (to symbolise his

divinity and priestly role), and Myrrh (for embalming and

anointing, which foreshadows his suffering and death).

This shows that giving is not about the price of the item,

but the heart behind it. A gift becomes special when it

carries love, thought, and purpose.

52

www.glamsquadmagazine.com

Why Christmas will Always be Celebrated

Christmas continues to be celebrated because its

message of hope, peace, kindness, and love never

grows old. As one can rightly attest, Christmas brings

families together, inspires generosity, and reminds us that

light always shines even in the darkest times.

Why Gifts Matter

Gifts are one of the sweetest ways to express love. It

boldly speaks, “I’m thinking of you. You matter to me.”

A good gift helps to bring joy and fond memories long

after the wrapping is gone, whether small or big.

You don’t need to spend a lot when giving gifts, as it’s

not about the cost. Some of the most heartfelt presents

are simple, affordable, and meaningful. What truly

matters is the intention and love behind the gesture.

2025 Christmas Gift Guide

Here are ten stylish and sophisticated gifts for

the 2025 Christmas that feel modern, elegant, and

memorable, perfect for family, friends, and colleagues.

1. Personalised Notebook or Journal: A classy

notebook or journal with their name or initials. Perfect for

writing thoughts, goals, or prayers. Simple but special.

2. Smart Digital Photo Frame: A frame that displays

different photos throughout the day. Great for families,

couples, and grandparents.

3. Scented Candle Set: Calming candles with scents

like vanilla, lavender, or sandalwood. They make any

home feel warm and cosy.

4. Luxury Skincare Set (Travel Size): Small but

premium skincare items like face wash, toner, serums,

without being expensive.

BEAUTY

5. Stylish Smartwatch or Fitness Tracker: A

fashionable device that tracks steps, heart rate, and

sleep. Good for anyone working on their health and

makes them feel you care about their well-being.

6. Custom Name Art or Wall Print: A beautiful wall

print with their name, a short quote, or a special date.

Easy to personalise and meaningful.

7. Monthly Gift Box Subscription: A box of goodies

delivered every month: books, snacks, skincare, coffee…

anything they love. A gift that keeps giving.

8. Travel Mug or Tumbler: A strong, stylish cup that

keeps drinks hot or cold for hours; Perfect for busy

people.

9. Jewellery: A simple necklace, bracelet, or earrings

with a classic look. Elegant and timeless.

10. The Gift of Experience: Gift a memory instead of

an item, a spa day, dinner date, movie ticket, or a quick

class. Experiences often stay longer in the heart.

The good thing? The gift ideas listed above last long

beyond the 2025 Christmas. Let your gifts this season

reflect kindness, warmth, and hope. May every present

you share carry a piece of your heart. Merry Christmas in

Advance

GTCO

Fashion

Week 2025:

Street Style Moment

That Caught Our

Attention

By Oma Damian

The 2025 GTCO Fashion Weekend in

Lagos wasn’t just about runway shows and

masterclasses, far from that! It became

a vibrant celebration of self-expression

and creativity from the moment attendees

stepped onto the boulevard.

The event, which was themed “Fashion Is

Freedom”, saw Lagos’ biggest fashion lovers as

they showed up in their numbers to showcase their

talents; however, not all caught our attention.

The highlight of the weekend was the effortless

way attendees broke traditional style boundaries. No

one dressed to meet expectations—they dressed to

reflect who they were. You’d see a guy in an Asooke

crop jacket paired with bold jewellery, or a girl

strutting in baggy denim and heeled Timberlands,

each embracing their look with equal confidence.

There were no labels, no limits, no rules—just pure,

unfiltered personal style.

From emerging designers to seasoned style

makers, GTCO Fashion Week 2025 invited everyone

not just to see fashion, but to live it — turning the

streets of GTCentre into an open runway where

individuality reigned supreme.

Here are some looks that caught our eye:
