This goblet is the first and likely the only artifact to survive the 110 years from the beginning of “The Golf Club

in 1902. Prior to 1910, and the founding of the Anniston Country Club, the golf course was west of our current facility.

I did not know until I saw this trophy that it was referred to as “Highland Golf Club”. We thank Chris and Bud

Segers for their generosity of this gift to the club. The winner of the trophy is Mrs J.T. (DeEtt) Smith, Chris’s great

grandfather, Lansing T. Smith’s wife. The award is on display in our trophy case by the front door, so please do look

at this wonderful piece of our history. Many thanks to Chris and Bud for their generosity. We look forward to their

next visit.

From The General Manager:

Good morning,

As we close 2012 and look forward to 2013, we have accomplished a lot

this year and will continue to have challenges. The membership drive

was amazing in its results, and we look forward to big things in the new

year. Thank you for your support of our new initiatives of keg beer and

craft beers, “Club at the Curb”, the YMCA providing our lifeguard

service, and the new categories of membership which allow greater

diversity and usage. The board will be submitting several changes in

the by-laws at the annual meeting next year in an effort to streamline

communication and to move us into the next decade.

Thanks again; join us during the holidays for Thanksgiving, Christmas

and New Years.

Respectfully,

Chip

From The Marketing

Director

Well, it is that perfect time of year! The weather is great, and

the scenery here at ACC is stunning.

Now is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the cooler

temperatures and enjoy and a round of golf, hit some tennis

balls, or join us for lunch and enjoy the view of the mountain.

As we come to the end of 2012, I would like to thank all

of our members again for supporting the very successful

membership drive. We gained great members, and we look

forward to them enjoying the club for many years to come.

We have lots going on in the next couple of months with

holidays being just around the corner, so please be sure to

take note of the calendar on the back page and try to come

along to a couple of the events. Remember that a free drink

is up for grabs if you bring a prospective member to an

event! It is a great way for them to see what they are missing.

Ladies, hopefully you have all read the emails about the

“Nike Trunk Show” on November 15th from 4:30pm. It is

a great opportunity to get some quality clothing with the

ACC logo! Why not pick up some Christmas presents too?!

And don’t forget…If you would like to host a party here, it

is not too late to book something for your office, your family

or just to celebrate with friends. Please give us a call and we

will take care of your needs!

Happy holidays,

Portia

Tis the season!! Holidays are about to be upon us, and I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your

families to the ACC to enjoy the season.

Please be thinking of us for your holiday parties, family get-togethers or just a nice night out for dinner to enjoy a

little time off.

We will be having our ever popular “Fish on a Plank” night on November 16th and our Thanksgiving Buffet on the

22nd, so give Mom a break this year and dine with us for a traditional Thanksgiving with all the trimmings!

As usual, December is very busy…We have Breakfast with Santa on the 1st, Christmas Ball on the 7th and our

Christmas Brunch Buffet on the 16th! So I’m sure we will be seeing a lot of each other in the coming months!!

With that I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks,

Chef

Hello everyone. It is hard to believe that this is the

last newsletter for 2012. There is not a lot to report

this time of the year. Thankfully, we can say some

things are much better now than this time in 2011

for the ACC. But we still have plenty of work to do,

and we continue to work vigorously to make your

club of which you can be proud.

In 2012 we have lost friends/members who have

passed on to that ultimate club in the sky, and we’ve

lost some members to relocation. Thank goodness

that we had a great membership drive that brought

in new members to our club in the worst economy

in most of our lifetimes. Now we have to work as

a team to retain our new and existing members

and continue to add new members that are still

out there. Contact Portia if you have a prospective

member, and she will be happy to contact them on

behalf of the club. As of this writing, we are still

approximately +50 members for the year after the

normal attrition that all clubs experience.

I would like to thank the membership for your

confidence in this Board. I would like to thank this

Board, and in a sometimes thankless position, I

would like to thank Chip, Portia, Sandra, Cindy,

Russell, Kevin, Raphael, the entire wait staff, and

golf course workers for their hard work during

2012.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas on us, don’t

forget your Club when you are planning your

parties. Contact Sandra, and she will be glad to help

you with the dates and the planning process.

This Board will continue to work to make the

ACC a place of which you can be proud of and

enjoy. Thank you for your continued support and

patience as we continue to make positive changes.

If you have questions or suggestions, please let me

know.

Respectfully;

Rick Dawson

We are into November which means it is time to get your Christmas

shopping started! The golf shop at ACC is the perfect place to do your

shopping. You can also take advantage of our free gift wrapping!

Our new merchandise is in and it looks great! Under Armour, GEAR

and Nike make up our apparel selection. Our golf club line is much

better this year with the help from Inverness Golf. A number of our

members have already taken advantage of Guice’s fitting capabilities.

Thank you for your supporting our new arrangement.

Christmas Open House will be Saturday, December 8th. We will have

the dart board out and ready, so come by and hit the bulls eye!

Grass Clippings:

We can all agree that we enjoy the fall. We like football

Saturdays and fall foliage. We don’t however like the mess made

by Mother Nature as the leaves litter our playing surfaces. The

process of picking up and mulching leaves will last around two

months. Our staff will spend countless hours making sure that

our membership continues to have the best chance at a great

round of golf.

The greens covers will be moved out of the shop and placed in

close proximity to the putting surface and will be used when

weather dictates. We will let the pro shop know of any frost

delays and or greens covering that will need to take place. Please

make sure you are in the clubs email list as we will communicate

delays this way also.

Don’t forget that each golf cart is equipped with a ball and club

washer.

Striving for better golf,

Russell

The leaves are changing and leaving us for the season, but we are still very

active here at the tennis courts. Our men’s ladder is still going strong

with six courts of doubles. We will have our 2nd Margarita Mixer at the

end of our first fall ladder. The mixer will be held on November 12th.

The new ladder session starts November 19th. We will also have our

Ladies Iron Bowl Challenge, and it’s just around the corner! Anyone

interested in joining either can email or call the shop to do so.

We also wanted to thank everyone again who supported our annual JSU

Pro/Am event. We hope that everyone enjoyed meeting the JSU players

and playing some quality tennis in the process. Our participants were:

Bill Reid, Richard Pope, Randy Young, Jerry Leake, Glaucio Scremin,

Buddy Mullis, Joe Webster, Deborah Shelton, Glenda Burleson, Lisa

Putnam, Lesley Hudson, Dooley Swift, Linda Douglas, Barbara Fletcher

and Tracy Reid. Thank you all so much for making the event such a

success. We want to extend a special thank you to Randy Young and

Linda Douglas for their extra contributions to the event as well. Also,

please be on the look out for emails concerning our upcoming events this

fall. We hope to see all of you out on the courts, and we wish everyone a

great holiday season!
