Welcome, one and all to another year of 365 days.
This one we shall call 2026!!
…. & dont they just come round quickly?
2026
For those of us who work at Mycenae House, 2025
was another year of challenge and great reward.
Noteworthy highlights from last year must include
finally gaining full planning permission for the lift,
record numbers of Reach Out sessions delivered,
successful launch of the Garden Concert series
(more in 2026), record number of Sold Out live music
shows, the busiest year in the cafe ever, and the
biggest financial turnover ever.
Before we fully consign 2025 to the history books,
its important we pay tribute to the significant
people. Without a doubt the sincerest thanks must
go YOU, our users, visitors, communities, groups
and activity producers.
The positive and constructive feedback we get and
the thanks we receive makes us ever more
determined to serve you and continue to improve
what we offer. The greatest joy we get though is
from the smiling faces of positivity from you our
visitors on a daily basis.
People make this place what it is!
CHRISTMAS 2025 WAS GREAT FUN AT MYCENAE HOUSE
We would also like to celebrate the support of our
trustees (the VCA), the Royal Borough of Greenwich,
our amazing group of volunteers and of course the
exemplary group of human beings masquerading as
the staff team (they are undoubtably the best team
in the business). It would be impossible to pick out
fewer than all of them for the greatest praise.
Seeing many of you engaging in activities at the
house, building friendships and communities is the
reward we crave. It can also be rewarding, in a way,
to engage with people who often arrive stressed,
challenged and desperate for support. We strive to
enable people to leave us having been helped,
enhanced, with hope and a sense of belonging.
But here we are at the start of another year, full of
positivity, faith and enthusiasm to achieve even
greater things in the next 365 days. We hope that
you will join us for the journey and continue to be
the fuel that makes the engine work. xmjb
Did You Know?
This is the 25th published
version of the Mycenae
Seasonal Brochure. How
did we get here??
Lift
Some may think its not true but WE DO now have
full planning permission to install a long desired
lift at Mycenae House. However it won’t arrive
overnight and will take a good few months of
planning, tendering and building before the bricks
start to appear. We are working with James Kay
Architects and we hope to be seeing visual
developments from the ground by mid to late
2026.
Seated dance sessions presented by Paul Fosu
are energising, fun and accessible. Inclusive
Wednesday sessions for people with learning
disabilities and Thursday sessions are open to all

Something new and it’s proper South East London. Robin, Tim and Dave from
the Wellbeing Community have recorded their first episode of the new podcast:
three gents, three life stories, and is the kind of straight-talking humour you
only get round here. Just three older adults creating and leading their own show
and exactly what makes this podcast different. It’s the kind of project that grows
in community spaces that give people the freedom to speak in their own voices.

With guests Isobel Jane Kimberley & Raie
To celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 we have a fabulous line up of local female musicians
Headlining this year is The Ukadelix. A band of five women playing a fun and eclectic set of original
songs & surprising covers filled with their trademark vocal harmonies. Recently featuring in the National

packed venues across London & Beyond
(Website: Ukadelix.com)
They are joined by Isobel Jane Kimberley & Raie.
Isobel Jane Kimberley is a distinctive and accomplished voice in contemporary folk and alt-folk rock. A songwriter
of striking emotional clarity and a musician with rare interpretive depth, she has spent her career shaping songs
that resonate with honesty, imagination, and a fearless artistic spirit.

It is nothing short of criminal, that Nick Harper is one the UK’s best kept
musical secrets. Those who have witnessed the spellbinding, one-man
show will tell you this. A childhood growing up surrounded by the musical
prowess of some of the 60’s most revered songwriters & musicians, not
to mention being son of Roy Harper, along with 20 years of crafting songs
& touring the land has spawned a truly one-off, original guitarist &
songwriter who stands alone as a UK great, to be cherished & revered.
Fast forward to 2025 and Nick finds himself alongside Roy Harper
headlining Glastonbury Festival and providing sideman duties at a trilogy
of farewell concert hall shows. The narrative of ‘58 Fordwych Rd.’ continues
to reverberate and so the live album of the same name was released on
September of 2025 and this show as part of the supporting tour.

2024 - “one of the finest fingerstyle guitarists and

Award-winning guitarist, Clive Carroll,
is widely known for his unmistakable
sound, compositions, and versatility. He
has toured across five continents,
bringing his signature blend of warmth
and humour to breathtaking, genrebending
live performances.
Carroll, an alumni of Greenwich based
Trinity College, was taken on the road
by the legendary “folk-baroque”
pioneer, guitarist-composer John
Renbourn, with whom he also
collaborated over many years. He has
also worked with guitar greats such as
John Williams, D'Gary, Tommy
Emmanuel, Xuefei Yang, Vishwa Mohan
Bhatt, and Ralph Towner.
Carroll has released five solo albums to
wide acclaim, and has composed music
for film and television. He most recently
performed ‘Pete Seeger’ banjo parts on
the Bob Dylan biopic, “A Complete
Unknown”.
Clive Carroll’s 2026 solo concert
programme features newly composed
music that fuses his Irish musical
heritage with contemporary vision; the
darkness of a untamed landscape, wild
dances of abandon, and the resonance
of ‘home’.

Let’s All Dance present
A charming show and a great message to never judge a book by its cover!
Friday 10 April 1pm & 3pm
When a young Prince is in search of a bride, his mother, The Queen, is on the lookout for a real Princess.
But after several months the Prince has not met anyone he likes.
One night, a young woman turns up on the steps of the palace, wet through from a huge storm. The
Queen takes one look at her muddy clothes and bedraggled hair and does not believe she is a real Princess.
So that night the Queen sets the young woman a test.
In true fairytale style the young woman passes with flying colours and wins the heart of the Prince with
her spirit and determination.
This gorgeous new production mixes Let’s All Dance’s signature crystal clear narrative,
fantastic dancing, beautiful costumes and lovely music to enthral children and families.

‘The cafe at this place is phenomenal! The staff are so friendly and helpful, even on busy days
when the room is packed with after school kids, club-goers, and hot deskers. They’re open late
in the summer, and on nights without noisy events it’s a really relaxing and quiet place to get
a nice drink and do some work. Seriously could not recommend the charming and well-stocked
cafe more!‘ Lee Rodgers
