Start Your Journey

CAMBODIA

Your Cambodian adventure begins before you even board the plane. To make

your arrival smooth and stress-free, complete the online e-Arrival Form up to seven

days before your flight. It is quick, digital, and required for all travelers arriving from

September 1 onward. You can submit it through www.arrival.gov.kh or by using the

official mobile app.

Once you land, Cambodia makes a great first impression. You will find free WiFi,

convenient ATMs and currency exchange, and prepaid SIM card services to help you

stay connected right away. Tourist information centers are ready to assist, along with

taxi services and support for oversized baggage.

For visas, most travelers can apply for a Cambodian e-Visa in advance at

www.evisa.gov.kh. It is usually processed within three working days, valid for 90 days

from the issue date, and allows a 30-day stay. You can also get

a visa on arrival at major airports, but applying online helps you skip the

lines and start exploring sooner.

The Palace Pavilion That Got Lost!

Ever notice that cool iron building in Phnom Penh’s Royal Palace that looks different?

That’s the Napoleon III Pavilion, and its story is wild.

Turns out, this fancy metal structure wasn’t even built for Cambodia. Nope! It was

made all the way back in 1869 for the big party opening the Suez Canal in Egypt.

This building was supposed to be a temporary party tent for a huge global event.

But after the canal party was over, instead of being packed away forever, it got

a new gig. Like a very fancy hand-me-down, it was taken apart, shipped in pieces

(imagine the instructions for putting that back together), and ended up in Phnom Penh.

So, next time you’re there, remember you’re looking at a piece of history that literally

traveled the world to find its forever home in Cambodia.

Sihanoukville?

Sihanoukville is a seaside city in

Cambodia, located in the southwest part

in Cambodia and often used as a starting

point to explore nearby tropical islands.

Sihanoukville began as a quiet fishing

Reap offers motorbike taxis, with fewer car options; apps can assist in

booking. Sihanoukville has limited services, so pre-arranging transportation

is advisable.

For a smooth journey, utilize apps in Phnom Penh, choose motorbike taxis in

Siem Reap, and pre-book rides in Sihanoukville.

Tuk Tuks are a popular and affordable way to travel in Cambodia. In

Phnom Penh, they are widely available, with short rides costing about $1–$2;

apps like Grab and PassApp are useful for booking. Siem Reap’s tuk tuks are

ideal for exploring the city and nearby temples, with day tours typically priced

around $15. In Sihanoukville, tuk tuks are present but less regulated, so it’s

important to agree on the fare beforehand.
