Cambodia Golf Guide
Cambodia is an emerging golf destination that combines cultural depth with an improving and increasingly well-regarded golf offering. Golf is centered around Siem Reap, near the Angkor temple complex, and Phnom Penh, the country’s dynamic capital. The destination is anchored by Phokeethra Country Club, which has helped position Cambodia as a recognised golf destination within the Asia-Pacific region. Golf is possible year-round, with the most comfortable playing conditions typically between November and March, when temperatures are milder and skies are generally clear. The hotter months of April and May, as well as the green season from June to October, still offer enjoyable golf, with fewer players on the courses, excellent course conditioning after short tropical showers, and better overall value. The Cambodia Golf Guide outlines the country’s key golf regions, leading courses, travel logistics, and what golfers can realistically expect from a Cambodian golf holiday. Based on Golfasian’s on-the-ground experience, the guide is designed to help travelers plan efficiently, understand seasonal trade-offs, and see how golf in Cambodia can be combined seamlessly with culture, cuisine, and relaxed city stays.

THE EDITOR
Welcome to Cambodia, where
ancient temples meet green fairways
under tropical sunshine. Offering golf
experiences from Siem Reap near
Angkor Wat to the vibrant capital of
Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s expanding
golf scene is highlighted by Phokeethra
Country Club, recognized as Asia
Pacific’s Best Golf Destination.
The weather keeps things interesting.
November to March is the best time
to play, with cooler air and clear skies.
April and May turn up the heat a little,
and from June to October, you might
see a few rain showers. But don’t
worry, they usually pass quickly and
leave the courses looking extra green.
Plus, it’s a quieter time on the fairways
and easier on the wallet. Win-win.
Now, if planning all the details sounds like a bit too much, that is where
we come in. At Golfasian, we organise everything for you. Tee times,
hotels, airport pickups, even dinner bookings if needed. Whether you
are travelling solo, with friends, or organising a group trip, we build the
plan around what suits you. And if something unexpected happens,
we are here 24/7. Our local team knows the courses, the roads, and
how to sort things out quickly and politely. All you need to do is show
up and play. We will handle the rest with a smile.
Ready to explore the best of Cambodian golf? Let’s tee-off.

Welcome to the Kingdom
A land of ancient splendor and modern-day
marvels, Cambodia is a destination that stirs the
soul and awakens the senses. From the majestic
spires of Angkor Wat to the tranquil stretches
of untouched beaches, this Southeast Asian
gem delivers an experience as profound as it is
picturesque. Whether you are here to explore,
unwind, or play, every moment in Cambodia
promises beauty, culture, and quiet luxury.
Weather Tips:
Cambodia enjoys a tropical
monsoon climate with warm
temperatures throughout
the year, typically ranging
between 18°C and 34°C.
The green season, from
September to March, brings
short bursts of rainfall, while
the dry season from April to
August offers sun-filled days
ideal for outdoor exploration
and golf. For the most
comfortable travel experience, the months
between February and September are
often recommended.
Award Spotlight:
Cambodia’s rise as a golf destination was
recently recognized at the 2025 Asia Golf
Tourism Convention in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Voted Asia Pacific Best Golf Destination
of the Year by more than 700 members
of the International Association of Golf
Tour Operators, this award highlights
Cambodia’s growing appeal on the world
golf stage.
Scenery:
From lush national parks to palm-fringed
islands, Cambodia captures the spirit
of Southeast Asia in one unforgettable
journey. On Koh Rong, Long Beach offers
seven kilometers of soft, powdery sand
and peaceful ocean views, while the more
secluded Long Set Beach provides barefoot
luxury just steps away from the island’s livelier
corners.
With 12 exceptional golf courses already
open and 3 more in progress, Cambodia
offers a fresh and rewarding experience
for golfers. From the cultural treasures of
Siem Reap to the cosmopolitan energy of
Phnom Penh, players will discover quality
facilities, striking scenery, and a peaceful
pace that makes every round feel special.

Start Your Journey
CAMBODIA
Your Cambodian adventure begins before you even board the plane. To make
your arrival smooth and stress-free, complete the online e-Arrival Form up to seven
days before your flight. It is quick, digital, and required for all travelers arriving from
September 1 onward. You can submit it through www.arrival.gov.kh or by using the
official mobile app.
Once you land, Cambodia makes a great first impression. You will find free WiFi,
convenient ATMs and currency exchange, and prepaid SIM card services to help you
stay connected right away. Tourist information centers are ready to assist, along with
taxi services and support for oversized baggage.
For visas, most travelers can apply for a Cambodian e-Visa in advance at
www.evisa.gov.kh. It is usually processed within three working days, valid for 90 days
from the issue date, and allows a 30-day stay. You can also get
a visa on arrival at major airports, but applying online helps you skip the
lines and start exploring sooner.

the front of the green, each shot requires focus and a touch
of boldness. The challenge creates a mix of tension and
satisfaction, especially when executed well. After golf, guests

A highlight of the round is the par-3 hole that plays over water to
a green surrounded by gentle slopes and open space. Standing
on the tee, golfers feel the pressure of making a clean strike
across the water while also appreciating the calm, open setting.
Whether the ball finds the green or not, the hole offers a moment
of quiet intensity and satisfaction. After the game, players can
relax in the resort’s modern clubhouse, enjoy a meal, or unwind
in the spa and sauna.

Golf Club
DESIGNER:
Jack Nicklaus (Nicklaus Design)
YARDAGE & PAR: 7,194 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 2011
DISTANCE:

A highlight of the experience is the par-3 16th hole, where a
bold tee shot must carry over water to reach a guarded green.
It delivers a moment of pure focus and quiet tension, making
success feel especially rewarding. The course’s open design also
lets the wind play a role, adding a fresh challenge on breezier
days. After the round, players can relax in the clubhouse,
practice at the range, or simply enjoy the calm environment.

Royal Phnom Penh
Golf Club
DESIGNER:
P & Z Development Pte Ltd
YARDAGE & PAR: 7,075 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 1999
DISTANCE:
8 kilometers from Phnom Penh
International Airport
One of the standout moments is found at a hole where water
lines the fairway and demands a precise approach to an
undulating green. It’s a test of focus and confidence, offering
both challenge and reward. After the round, players can enjoy
the comfort of a traditionally styled clubhouse, complete with
dining, practice areas, and professional services.
Fun Fact :
The Palace Pavilion That Got Lost!
Ever notice that cool iron building in Phnom Penh’s Royal Palace that looks different?
That’s the Napoleon III Pavilion, and its story is wild.
Turns out, this fancy metal structure wasn’t even built for Cambodia. Nope! It was
made all the way back in 1869 for the big party opening the Suez Canal in Egypt.
This building was supposed to be a temporary party tent for a huge global event.
8
But after the canal party was over, instead of being packed away forever, it got
a new gig. Like a very fancy hand-me-down, it was taken apart, shipped in pieces
(imagine the instructions for putting that back together), and ended up in Phnom Penh.
So, next time you’re there, remember you’re looking at a piece of history that literally
traveled the world to find its forever home in Cambodia.
Vattanac Golf Resort
- East Course
DESIGNER:
Nick Faldo
YARDAGE & PAR: 7,467 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 2019
DISTANCE:
30 minutes from Phnom Penh
International Airport
The signature par-5 1st hole immediately sets the tone. With
multiple route options and a challenging green guarded by
hazards, it creates a mix of excitement and tension from the very
first swing. Whether you’re chasing birdies or simply enjoying
the views, this hole captures the spirit of the course. After the
round, players can unwind at the resort’s modern clubhouse or
sharpen their skills at the high-tech golf academy.

- West Course
DESIGNER:
Nick Faldo
YARDAGE & PAR: 7,249 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 20120
DISTANCE:
45 minutes from Phnom Penh
International Airport
One of its most memorable holes is shaped around Dragon
Lake, where golfers must navigate a water hazard that runs
alongside the fairway and guards the green. This setting creates
a sense of tension and satisfaction when a shot is executed well.
Unlike the East Course, which features dramatic temple replicas
and bolder landscapes, the West Course leans into a quieter,
more refined style of golf.

DESIGNER:
Nick Faldo
YARDAGE & PAR: 7,279 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 2008
DISTANCE:
10 minutes from Siem Reap
International Airport
One of the most unforgettable holes is the par-5 13th. With water
running along the left and a narrow landing area off the tee, it
challenges golfers both mentally and physically. Reaching the
green in regulation offers a strong sense of satisfaction, especially
with temple-like palms framing the horizon. It’s the kind of hole
that stays with players long after the round ends, not just for the
test it presents but for the atmosphere it creates. From start to
finish, Angkor Golf Resort blends competitive golf with peaceful
landscapes, offering a round that is as emotionally rewarding as
it is skillful.

YARDAGE & PAR: 7,279 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 2007
DISTANCE:
25 minutes from Siem Reap

The most memorable moment often comes at the 18th hole.
This finishing par-5 requires a double water carry to reach
an island green, creating both tension and excitement with
every shot. For many, it becomes the highlight of the round,
offering a mix of pressure and satisfaction as they attempt to
finish strong. After the game, the Sofitel-managed clubhouse
provides a comfortable space to relax, enjoy a meal, and reflect
on the round. Whether you’re visiting for a casual game or a
competitive challenge.
Siem Reap
Booyoung Country Club
DESIGNER:
Kentaro Sato
YARDAGE & PAR: 7,396 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 2009
DISTANCE:
12 kilometers from Angkor Wat
The standout moment for many comes at the par-3 16th hole.
Set against a beautiful backdrop, this hole features an island
green that challenges precision and nerve. A well-placed shot
brings a deep sense of reward, while even a near miss creates
a memorable story. After the round, players can unwind at the
modern clubhouse, enjoy Korean and international cuisine, or
relax with scenic views from the Lake View Restaurant.

Phnom Penh
Sihanoukville

Dara Sakor Golf Resort
DESIGNER:

YARDAGE & PAR: 7,200 yards, Par 72
ESTABLISHED: 2015 (Ocean Course)
2018 (Mountain Course)
DISTANCE:
1 hour from Sihanoukville Airport
A highlight of the Mountain Course is the par-3 4th hole, where
golfers must carry their tee shot over water to a guarded green.
It’s a moment that demands precision and brings a rush of
satisfaction when played well. On the Ocean Course, night golf
under floodlights adds an exciting twist to the round. After golf,
guests can relax at the natural hot spring bath, enjoy a meal in
the clubhouse, or stay overnight on-site.
Where is
Sihanoukville?
Sihanoukville is a seaside city in
Cambodia, located in the southwest part
of the country. It sits along the coast of
the Gulf of Thailand, which means it has
warm weather, calm seas, and many
beaches. It’s the main beach destination
in Cambodia and often used as a starting
point to explore nearby tropical islands.
Sihanoukville began as a quiet fishing
village and later became Cambodia’s
only deep-water port, making it important
for shipping and trade. This role brought
rapid growth in recent years, with new
hotels, casinos, and foreign investment.
Today, the city is a mix of local markets
and street food alongside tall buildings,
modern resorts, and shopping centers.
Many people use Sihanoukville as a starting
point to visit nearby islands like Koh Rong
and Koh Rong Samloem. These islands are
known for their clear blue water, soft white
sand, and peaceful atmosphere. Boats run
daily from the city’s port and take about 30
to 45 minutes.
In town, you’ll find a mix of local and
modern experiences. You can walk through
traditional markets, try street food, or visit
temples. At the same time, there are also
luxury hotels, casinos, shopping malls, and
international restaurants. It’s a mix of old
and new, simple and stylish.

Car and Motorbike Taxis are available in Cambodia’s major cities. In
Phnom Penh, both can be booked via apps like Grab and PassApp. Siem
Reap offers motorbike taxis, with fewer car options; apps can assist in
booking. Sihanoukville has limited services, so pre-arranging transportation
is advisable.
For a smooth journey, utilize apps in Phnom Penh, choose motorbike taxis in
Siem Reap, and pre-book rides in Sihanoukville.
Tuk Tuks are a popular and affordable way to travel in Cambodia. In
Phnom Penh, they are widely available, with short rides costing about $1–$2;
apps like Grab and PassApp are useful for booking. Siem Reap’s tuk tuks are
ideal for exploring the city and nearby temples, with day tours typically priced
around $15. In Sihanoukville, tuk tuks are present but less regulated, so it’s
important to agree on the fare beforehand.
Always confirm the price before the journey to avoid misunderstandings.
Public Buses in Phnom Penh operate daily from 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM,
offering an affordable way to navigate the city at approximately $0.40 per
ride . Siem Reap launched a free electric bus service in 2024, connecting key
areas and promoting eco-friendly travel.
Sihanoukville’s public bus system is still in development, with limited routes
currently available . For now, travelers in Sihanoukville may prefer taxis or
tuk-tuks.
Car/Motorbike Rental is a flexible way to get around Cambodia. In
Phnom Penh, car rentals are available through major companies and suit
longer city routes. Siem Reap is ideal for motorbike rental, giving you freedom
to explore temples at your own pace. Sihanoukville is less suited to rentals,
with fewer options and busy, confusing roads.
Always have your valid international driving permit, and if on a
motorbike, wear a helmet and avoid peak traffic hours for a safer ride.
Ferries are a practical mode of transport in Cambodia’s coastal and
river regions. In Phnom Penh, ferries primarily serve local crossings over
the Mekong River. Siem Reap offers ferry services to Phnom Penh and
Battambang during the wet season, typically from August to March.
Sihanoukville operates regular speedboat ferries to nearby islands, including
Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem, with several departures daily .
Travelers should plan accordingly, considering seasonal availability and
booking in advance for island trips.
