SENIOR PASTOR
If you have ever watched a
single drop of water fall
into a still surface, you
know what happens next.
The drop is small, but the
effect is not. Ripples
spread outward, touching
far more than the place
where the drop first
landed.
In many ways, our lives—
and our church—work the
same way. Every action,
every word, every decision
creates an impact.
Sometimes that impact is
intentional. Sometimes it
happens without us even
realizing it. Sometimes it
brings life and
encouragement; other
times it can cause harm.
But one thing is certain:
impact is unavoidable.
As we look toward 2026,
we want to be intentional
about the impact we make
—together as a church
and individually as
followers of Christ.
Our Vision for Impact as
a Church
God calls the church
not just to gather, but
to influence—to reflect
His love in ways that
are seen and felt within
and beyond our walls.
In the coming year, we
are focusing on several
initiatives designed to
help us live out that
calling more fully.
One of those is the
development of small
groups. These groups
create space for deeper
relationships, spiritual
growth, and mutual care.
We have invited Elder Bill
Payne to come in March.
Elder Payne is the North
American Division’s
Director of Sabbath School
and Personal Ministries. His
cousin, church member
Cleveland Bloomfield, gave

Small groups can be study groups, or they can be affinity
groups, such as quilting, biking, photography, fishing, etc.
us the opportunity to personally meet with Elder
Payne last year, and he is returning to help us kick
off our small groups in April (more information on
next page).
“Impact is unavoidable —
but it can be intentional.”
We are also planning to participate in a mission
trip to Nairobi. Pastor Gavin and a team of fifteen
or our members along with twenty five members
from Ft. Myers SDA Church will work alongside
Maranatha and build a new church for the people of
Nairobi! While the spaces to go on the mission trip
are currently filled, it is not too late to make full use
of our opportunity to help fund raise and pray for a
positive impact on the people of Nairobi .

Another important focus
for 2026 is the guest
experience. We are
developing a thoughtful
plan to better welcome
those who walk through
our doors for the first
time. First impressions
matter. A warm greeting,
clear guidance, and
genuine hospitality can
have a lasting impact on
someone who is exploring
faith or searching for a
church home. You may
have already noticed the guest parking signs in our
parking lot. Soon you will also see signs and maps in
the church, and a guest experience team in the
foyer.
We began the year with a health seminar
presented by Dr. David DeRose, on the very first
weekend of 2026, recognizing that caring for our
physical well-being is an important part of faithful
living. By starting the year with a focus on health,
we are affirming that God cares about the whole
person—body, mind, and spirit—and that wise,
everyday choices can make a meaningful difference
over time.
Impact Beyond Programs
While church initiatives
matter, impact is not limited
to organized programs. Each
of us carries influence into
our daily lives—into our
homes, schools, workplaces,
neighborhoods, and online
spaces.
Our words, attitudes, and
choices shape the people
around us. Sometimes that
influence is obvious. Other
times, it shows up quietly,
like ripples spreading
farther than we can see. A
kind word, a patient
response, or a faithful
example can leave a mark
long after the moment has
passed.
“We want to be
intentional about
the impact we make
—together as a
church and
individually as
followers of Christ.”
Intentional and Unintentional Impact
Some impact is planned. We choose to serve, to
encourage, to give generously
and to live out our faith with purpose. This kind of
intentional impact reflects Christ’s love in visible
ways.
Other impact happens unintentionally, but if we are
daily surrendered to God, and allow His Spirit to fill
us, He will guide us in even the smallest of decisions
that may have ripple effects beyond what we’d ever
imagine. It’s also important to acknowledge that
impact can be positive or negative.
An Invitation for 2026
As we step into a new year, the invitation before us
is simple but meaningful: be intentional about the
impact you make. Get involved where God is leading
you. Join a small group. Consider supporting the
mission trip or participating fully in a ministry
opportunity. Let’s all be part of creating a
welcoming environment for guests. And reflect on
your everyday influence—how you speak, how you
serve, how you love.
We may never fully see the reach of our impact. But
when we choose to live with intention, faithfulness,
and love, God uses even small acts to make a
difference.
Let’s make 2026 a year marked by Christ-centered
impact—together, and one life at a time.

Debbie Carter
Debbie Carter joined the
PCSDA Church on
January 10, 2026 by
Profession of Faith. While
reading Genesis, the
Holy Spirit impressed on
her mind the importance
of the Sabbath. The point
was driven home again
in Exodus. Amazed at
overlooking such a
crucial scripture in the
past, she googled for
churches that observe
the Bible Sabbath which
identified the SDA
Church. She was pleased
to find one just ten
minutes from her home.
Debbie’s hobbies include
crafting, crocheting, and
sewing. She finds
documentaries on
ancient times and people
fascinating.

I really appreciate
how the Port
Charlotte SDA Church
is always ready to
welcome youth with
programs and events.
For instance, the
Echo Rally, put
together by the
Florida Conference,
took place on
November 8, 2025. It
featured a song
service to kick things
off, led by the Engage
group from Southern
There was also an
exciting icebreaker
bingo called “Time
Warp,” a prayer
session about the
importance of taking
leaps of faith, a
fantastic group
discussion of the
story of Ruth, and a
delicious dinner of
pizza, then team
games later on.
The first activity was
the song service,
which was beautifully
performed by the
Engage group.
They sang some lovely songs to
welcome everyone into the
church and set the tone for the
rally. The talented singers were
Emma Forbes (Pastor Gavin’s
sister), Jeremy Collier-Frede,
Luke Villarruel, and San San
Huang.
After the song service, Pastor
Gavin was invited to pray for the
ECHO
YOUTH
ECHO
RALLY
YOUTH
RALLY
success of the rally,
and after that, a lively
icebreaker ensued.
The type of
icebreaker that was
played is not the
usual one we are
accustomed to. This
was unique in the
fact that it combined
a Simon Says and a
bingo game. Here’s
how it works: you ask
questions about
someone's broken
bones and other
things, but with a
twist—whenever a
time warp happens,
you have to do a
special move, like
swapping bingo
cards, spinning while
talking, running two
laps around the
room, etc. This
icebreaker allowed
everyone to relax and
have fun before
beginning the main
part of the rally.
After all that fun,
everyone was
allowed to calm down
and sit down. Then
we had a session
about transformative
prayers that require
total submission to
the will of God, and a
leap of faith, trusting
that He will fulfill the
request if it is His will.
We were challenged
to step out of what
we normally pray
about, such as daily
sustenance, the
forgiveness of sins,
blessings, etc., and
instead step into
prayers asking God
for the Holy Spirit,
asking God to show
Himself to you in
some way, and many
more.
Then the organizers
asked everyone to
get into group
according to their
favorite color and
pray together for one
specific request. For
example, people with
the favorite color
orange prayed for
innovative ideas for
youth programs and
outreach, etc. This was one of
the most meaningful parts,
seeing people pray together,
each group praying for one
thing.
“We were
challenged to
step out of what
we normally
pray about.”
Then we had a group discussion
about the story of Ruth and its
implications today. Our team
leader was John P. We all read
the section of Ruth when they
travelled out of Moab and into
Judah. Afterward, we read the
part where Ruth clung to Naomi
no matter the cost. The key part
of the story is about
“relationship,” because if Ruth
didn’t have a good relationship
with Naomi, she wouldn’t have
clung as she did. It was
mentioned that God always
opens doors to the places He
wants us to be. However, there
are times God opens
multiple doors and
lets us choose the
door. For example, a
theology student
from Southern, who
was also part of the
Engage Worship
group, stated that
when choosing a
college, sometimes
God specifically gives
you one choice of
university or college,
or He actually gives
you multiple
universities to attend,
but you can only
attend one. So
whatever you choose,
God will support you
and bless you no
matter what. That is
what I learned from
my fellow peers from
both our church and
Southern Adventist
University.
My favorite part was
the pizza offered
after the service,
followed by the fivemember
team
games, which
included the bean
bag, a basketball
hoop with multiple
hoops, a puzzleassembling
game, a
geography test game, and the
trivia game.
In conclusion, I had a fun time at
the Echo Rally and hope that it
happens again at our church.
The lessons I learned, the fun I
had, and the community were
the reasons that made the Echo
Rally worth going to. So if the
Echo Rally happens again at our
church, come and join us and
learn more from God’s Word.

I want to thank everyone who donates to the single mom's ministry. Donna
Judy and I have given ten Thanksgiving baskets for the past two years.
Recently we learned, from Cyndee of Kids’ Thrive, that there are many
more families in need, possibly 40 or more. Due to that, this year we did
things differently. We gave ten $50 gift cards for Walmart and ten $20 gift
cards with food in gift bags. So we helped 20 families for Thanksgiving this
year. For Christmas we purchased games for the families.
