January 2025
Submitted by
Julie Sons,
VP Membership/PR
We had a great turn out at the January meeting with 67 members in attendance
and there were no guests. I was out of town so I was absent for the general
meeting. Thank you Jimmy for announcing and sending around the insurance
disclamer for signatures. Thank you to those who have already sent me a current
copy of their updated insurance card and once you renew your Vette insurance
please remember to send me a picture copy via e-mail or message. We are
busting out the seams at our current meeting spot and it has been extremely
difficult to move about. We are all excited to move to a larger meeting venue so
everyone can, once again, make their way around and socialize.
Remember not to forget your sweetie on Valentine’s Day.
Congratulations
Wayne Farley – Birthday winner
Charlie & Kim Fosnaugh – Anniversary winner

Additional activities:
Jimmy shared that on 1/18/26, a quick run was put together to drive by Dennis and Leta
Wards. Dennis was feeling good and the group drove 168 to 180 to 41, then Friant to Willow
and back to the Wards. All members were sent texts inviting them to join in. However,
there was an issue with the technology and not all members received the texts. There was
discussion on how to avoid missing people in the future by using email but given the time
constraints, texting seemed the best option at the time. 13 cars were present.
Lynne asked for an interest check on attending Roger Rockas on 4/3/26. About 30 people
raised hands. Lynne will move forward in making arrangements.
Janet announced that 2 people were needed for Hand and Foot on 1/20, contact her if
interested
Debbie Garrison let everyone know that the movie at the Skypark is on 1/24/26. They will be
meeting at the Triangle Burger on W. Shaw and Marks at 5 pm. Movie is Planes, Trains, and
Automobiles.
Newsletter update –all submissions should be to Julie by the 25 th .
New Business – Jody Webb
The next club meeting will be at the Black Bear Diner on W. Shaw and Marty on 2/12/26.

will have 35 parking spots coned off for us. They are ordering custom table cloths and are
excited about having us use their space. The room can accommodate 84 people and there is
space for walkers and accessible doors available. There will be a designated menu. When

In an effort to give back and fund raise for a non-profit, like we did at the Christmas Party, the
club will use a drum filled with tickets. Members are encouraged to purchase tickets and
once all tickets are sold, a drawing will take place. Members can name a local charity to be
drawn and the ½ the money collected will be donated to that charity.

Sunshine and Clouds- Debbie Garrison read the sunshine and clouds (Please see the
newsletter for a full list of sunshine and clouds)
In the Rear View- Debbie Garrison highlighted some events in the past. In January 1992
Debbie was still a Silva and the Central Coast Classic became a tradition for several years with
anywhere from 36 to 150 cars participating from clubs in Ventura, SLO, Bakersfield, and
Turlock. They played lots of games on the beach including Walk the Plank using Two by
Fours. In 1995, there was a star sighting. Tom Cruise saw the group while they were looking
for ice cream and led them all to Baskin Robbins.
Sergeant at Arms- Don Eskender no badge fines and confirmed 67 members in attendance.

A big thanks to all of you that have stepped up to lead a run for the upcoming year. We
currently have 10 on the books for 2026 and a few in the works. I know it seems
intimidating but help is available if you have an idea of a run that you would like to take
the lead on.
Corvette weather is right around the corner and we can get out there and shake off the
winter gloom with some horsepower and long straight aways.
Please be sure to sign up early and recognize that a run leader has put in time and effort to
make an event memorable and fun for all members participating.

We have lots of Good News this month!
Yesterday Jody sent out a quick text to join her on a drive by to Dennis and Leta’s house.
Thirteen cars were able to go and by the time they got there Dennis and Leta were ready
to join the group on a little drive. After their drive they went back to Dennis & Leta’s for
some fellowship, ordered pizza and watched a little football. I spoke with Dennis last
night and he was so appreciative of all the love and support. He’s very optimistic that the
new medication they have him on now is really helping with his breathing and helping
him feel better.
Jimmy Webb got good news this month-He received a cancer-free Checkup-so grateful!
Many of you have probably heard the Craig Derringer fell and broke his femur and had to
receive Half-Hip Replacement. After surgery he was transferred to a rehab and is doing PT.
He is still weak and cannot walk yet, but the good news is that yesterday was the first day
he was not in pain. He is looking forward to getting stronger and being able to stand and
walk soon.
Charlie & Kim Fosnaugh and their family just returned from Kauai where they enjoyed
whale watching, snorkeling, swimming, horseback riding, fishing, off roading, shaved ice
and relaxing. Sounds like they had a wonderful get away.
I spoke to Dave Trauger, and he will be seeing a neurologist this coming Friday and is
looking forward to getting more information. He still is not driving but he is feeling fine
and still just having a little trouble putting words to his thoughts. Thanks everyone for
their calls and thoughts of support.

January Update
Good News for John Karlie -he is feeling so much better after his bout with kidney
stones.
I received good news this month, my niece and her family surprised me for my birthday
at the care home where I was visiting my sister with the news that she is going to be
Great-grandma again and I’m going to be a Great-Great Aunt this summer.
Freida Null gave us the good news that her granddaughter Ashley will be graduating as
an LVN this month, Our congratulations to Freida and the family.
In keeping in with more good family news; Frank Phillips told us his son Cameron eloped
this month. I guess he got the
Marrying Bug from Frank and Dana. Congratulations to the whole family.
Gail Tavares just returned from Oahu, Hawaii where she enjoyed visiting with her sister
for twenty-five days.
Don and Jill Eskender added a four-month-old little girl named Elli to their family. She is
part Cavalier, King and Bichon and a real cutie.
Our condolences to Louie and Kelly Avila on the passing of Louie’s sister.
If anyone has any good or not so good news, we would like to share it with the Club.
Please send your news to Jill Kroeker-Rosen.
New Year's Eve Brunch – December 31, 2025
Fifty-five people registered for our annual brunch at the Red Caboose
Café on New Year's Eve at 11:00 AM; however, 14 had to cancel for
various reasons. We had 41 members attend.
Last year, the weather during this event was beautiful, but this year
we experienced intermittent sprinkles and rain.
Some of us drove our Corvettes anyway, but many did not.
Our final event of 2025 with our CVC family was thoroughly
enjoyable.
The food and fellowship were awesome! After the meal, many stayed
to talk.
Looking forward to many more CVC adventures in 2026

INPROMPTU DRIVE-BY BIRTHDAY RIDE
IN HONOR OF DENNIS WARD
I woke up the morning of January 18 th with Dennis Ward on my mind and
I really wanted to do something special for him on his birthday. Dennis
had been telling David and I for the past month how he really wanted to
go for a ride in his Corvette one more time and we really wanted to help
make that happen. His medical staff recently changed his medication
regimine and it makes his breathing less labored. I spoke to Leta that
morning and she said he would be thrilled to be able to get in his car so
Jody and I tried to contact as many CVC members as we could within in
that short time frame. We were able to gather 13 Corvettes and put a
very quick impromptu drive to the Wards and helped Dennis into his
Corvette and enjoy a brief Corvette ride up to Friant Rd. He was feeling
so good and he looked so happy. He invited us all over to enjoy pizza
back at their house and Jody even door dashed a Birthday cake. We
celebrated and visited with them and it was a great day. Thank you to all
who were able to come at the last minute to help makethis plan work
out.
