AND PRAYER

‘Operation Consecrate the Land’

Artificial Intelligence

Apart from scripture reference look ups through Bible Gateway, artificial

intelligence has not been used to write this guide. It has been written after

an extended time of reading the Bible, prayer and through the direction of

the Holy Spirit.

DONATE TO

OUR WORK.

This prayer resource is free at the point of use. We encourage you to share it with others. It

does cost money to produce- staff time, design costs, our digital platform etc. We also want

to empower every Christian in the UK to PRAY for, CARE for and SHARE Jesus with their

neighbours, believing that we will see 5 new disciples of Jesus on every street in the UK. Will

you partner with us to bring God’s Kingdom as in Heaven, onto our streets?

To make donations stretch further, we use volunteers where we can. We conduct virtual

meetings where possible to reduce travel costs and produce online resources to keep costs

low and our resources free at the point of use. We believe we are very careful with any money

given to us. However, there is no doubt that more financial resources will propel the vision

forward and we are particularly looking for churches to donate regularly to our work.

HOUSES OF LIGHT

The vision of Houses of Light (formerly Neighbourhood Prayer Network) is to see every Christian in the UK,

PRAYING for their neighbours, CARING for their neighbours and SHARING Jesus with their neighbours. Our goal

is to see 5 new disciples of Jesus on every street in the UK.

A House of Light can be a Christian or a household on a street.

We suggest most of our community pray on a Friday. We provide PRAYER suggestions, CARE suggestions

and simple ways to SHARE Jesus through our Friday newsletter. This newsletter often carries testimonies to

encourage you too.

BEACONS OF LIGHT

HOUSESOFLIGHT.NET

BEACONS OF LIGHT

A Beacon of Light is where there are 3 Christians usually, but not always from 3 separate streets, who pray

together for at least half an hour each week. We suggest people pray 10 minutes together for the 3 streets, 10

minutes together for their 3 postcode areas and 10 minutes for all streets in the UK and all those praying for

streets. We believe they work best when there is a meeting together physically once a month, ideally with food.

The other three meetings can be done virtually via WhatsApp, teams, zoom or similar.

A Beacon of Light can be between 3-12 members that meet up together once a month, but we still recommend

organising among prayer triplet lines.

UK PRAYER SHIELD

Some of our prayer triplets will choose to join a prayer shield over the UK. This is 336 half hour slots covering

every minute of every day, every week. Each of the 336 slots will have the same group praying at the same time

each week. The idea is to have continuous prayer over the UK. If there were to be a national emergency; prayers

can be directed towards this.

A CALL TO HOLINESS

IN OUR STREETS

Rebekah Brettle, CEO Houses of Light.

1 Peter 2:9-10

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare

the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now

you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

In late December, early January, I felt God has been speaking to us about the need for ‘Holiness’ among

His people. Over Christmas/New Year I read Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and considered

what it means to be Holy, both in Old Testament times and in the New Testament.

It is my hope that this 40-day prayer guide will be a journey of discovering new or deeper intimacy with

Father God, as well as challenging each of us to “make our lives a living sacrifice, Holy and pleasing to God.”

(Romans 12:1-2)

Unlike some of our other guides, we have not included ‘actions or outreach ideas’ at the end of each day.

There are in some sections a call to a special personal time of prayer. At the end of the 40 days there is an

invitation to take part in something called ‘Operation Consecrate the Land.’ This is essentially asking many of you

to pray for streets, anointing them with olive oil at the entrances to streets. We share a testimony from Pastor

Emmanuel D’Almeida, an Elim minister from Redditch, where they did this over 900+ streets and saw testimonies

come from this.

If you are looking to combine a prayer and Bible reading guide with outreach, we suggest ‘Through the Lens of

the Street’ which has recently been updated and was viewed over 50000 at the time of writing last year.

You may choose to fast. As a GP, I am acutely aware that for many reading this guide such as those on medication,

women trying for babies, pregnant women, or those with a history of eating disorders- food fasting is not always

wise. I do however believe that fasting can bring us into closer intimacy with God.

For those with medical conditions perhaps in our modern age a social media fast, or television, gaming fast,

would for some be harder than a traditional food fast. The aim of fasting is to focus your attention more on God

and it could be argued that the biggest barrier to this is ‘screen time.’ So, pray to God and ask Him what He is

leading you to do and always seek guidance from your own church leader as well as your GP if needed.

HOLINESS

THROUGH

THE BIBLE

Thank You to Pastor

Emmanuel D’Almeida (Elim,

Redditch) and Dr Adesola

Ademiloye (RCCG Place of

Victory, Swansea) for helping

to edit this article)

The Jewish People as the Holy Nation

Until Jesus came as the Jewish Messiah, dying on the

cross for us, Jewish people were the ‘Holy nation’,

God’s special possession, His chosen people.

In Romans 11:17-24, the Bible tells us that we (gentiles,

or none-Jewish believers) have been grafted into the

promises and inheritance of the Jewish people as the

‘chosen people.’ Romans 11 cautions us about treating

Jewish people, without whom we would not have

Jesus: with love and care. They remain God’s chosen

people, who are yet to believe in their Messiah – Yeshua

(Jesus). Today there are a growing number of Messianic

Jews, who do believe that Yeshua is their Messiah.

The Jewish people were delivered from the bonds of

slavery after the angel of death ‘passed over them,’

but in Egypt, it killed all the firstborn because Pharaoh

refused to let Israel (the Jewish People) go to serve

Yahweh, their God. This marked the first Passover.

In the desert the Jewish people were given the ten

commandments, and the books of law. These detailed

every aspect of how they were to live- the clothes they

could wear, the food they could eat, how to prepare

it. (Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). They

were to make sacrifices for their sins through burnt

offerings that only a priest in a prescribed way could do.

All the law pointed people towards making God central

to their lives and being an example to other people and

nations around them. It also was impossible for anyone

to keep the law in its entirety.

Direct Access to God Through the Cross

We do not need sacrifices at a temple to be close to

God, or atone for our sins, because Jesus on the cross

took away our sins. In Isaiah 53:5 it says that “He was

pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our

iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was

on him, and by His wounds we are healed.”

The Bible emphasises the state of the entire humanity

as “having sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”

(Romans 3:23). Humanity needs redemption from

sin to avoid the eternal wrath of God. God offers the

only way to eternal life with Him through His Son,

Jesus. Jesus himself says in John 14:6, “I am the way,

the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father

except through Me”. God’s heart is for all His creation

to know Him and have a relationship with Him, “for

God so loved the world that He gave His only son; that

whoever believes in Him should not perish but have

eternal life” (John 3:16).

We cannot earn our way to heaven through good

deeds, the price has already been paid through the

ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. There is only

one way to God the Father and that is through Jesus.

We just need to believe and accept Jesus as our Lord

and Saviour to be saved.

In Matthew 27:51 it says, that at the time of Jesus’

death on the cross, the curtain of the temple was torn

in two. This curtain separated the Holy of Holies from

the sanctuary and only the Jewish priest was allowed

to enter to ‘meet God.’ In the New Covenant brought

in by Jesus’ death, we all have direct access to God.

Our direct access to God is provided by both the death

and resurrection of Jesus as they are considered two

parts of one, essential, inseparable works of salvation.

We no longer need to make sacrifices to atone for our

sins as the Jewish people once did.

Our ‘Promised land’ of Revival Today.

The Israelites could have reached the promised land

much earlier had it not been for them looking back with

‘rose tinted glasses’ at Egypt and incessant grumbling.

(Exodus 15-17 and Numbers 14).

Many of us as Christians long for a ‘revival’ that brings

about a spiritual and societal transformation. I wonder

whether we could reach ‘the promised land’ of this

‘quicker’ if more of us were to “make our lives a living

sacrifice, Holy and pleasing to God?” (Romans 12:1-2)

I wonder too, whether we spend more time ‘complaining

and grumbling’ than praising God for what He has

already done and is doing. The book of James tells us

that our actions should accompany our faith and that

the tongue (James 3:1-12) has the power to do great

harm. The tongue also has the power to lift people up,

encourage and bring life!

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

5

A New Heart, the Holy Spirit, the New

Covenant

It says in Ezekiel 36:26-27 when God was speaking to

the Israelites, that He would give them a new heart and

put a new heart within them and that He would remove

the heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh; that

He would put His spirit within them causing them to

walk in his statutes and observe his ordinances.

In Acts 2, we see the Holy Spirit come at Pentecost- we

as Christians have the Holy Spirit living within us. The

Holy Spirit is our guide, a comforter and helps us follow

Jesus’s teachings and live in holiness, if we choose to

walk in obedience.

What does Holiness mean?

Holiness as a Christian is that we are ‘set apart’ for God.

Jesus says that we are to be ‘salt and light’ (Matthew

5:13-16) to those around us and that if salt loses its

saltiness, it is ‘good for nothing.’ This indicates that our

lives are to be ‘different’ from unbelievers living near us

or in our workplaces.

The Israelites were called to live differently from

neighbouring nations- to set them apart for God and

to be a ‘light to the gentiles’ (Isaiah 49:6) so that God’s

salvation would reach to the ends of the earth. They

were to be an example to other nations around them.

King Nebuchadnezzar of the Babylonian Empire, who

had conquered Israel and Judah, came to believe in

God through Daniel (Daniel 3:28-30 and 4:34-37) In

the book of Esther, we read that many converted to

Judaism after a decree to save the Jews. We see that

Jonah was called to preach to Ninevah. God’s heart

has always been for everyone, everywhere, using the

Jewish nation as a ‘Beacon of Light.’

We as Christians today are called to live our lives

differently to those around us. Jesus says whoever

hears His teaching and puts them in to practice, is like

a man who builds His house on the rock- when the

rain comes down and the seas rise, the house remains

standing. (Matthew 7:24-27). Jesus came to earth to

live among humanity. The Message translation says

that “He moved into the neighbourhood.’ While we are

called to live differently, using Jesus as our example,

we are also called to ‘live among’ those who are not

yet believers and let our light shine before them so

that they will see our ‘good deeds and praise God.”

(Matthew 5:13-16)

In Revelation 3:15-16 Jesus talks to a people who

have become rich, but who are luke-warm. Are we, in

Western nations guilty of this?

Holiness is about putting God in the driving seat of

our lives, not putting Him in the place of a passenger,

who is occasionally invited to help us when we veer

off course or when we are travelling through life, and

all is well. In the song ‘Blessed be Your name- it says,

‘blessed be the name of the Lord on the road marked

with suffering and when the world’s all as it should be.’

Whatever we are facing ‘good or bad’ God should be

our number one priority for our time, our money and in

how we follow Him.

God is to be central to all aspects of our lives as the

‘law’ once encouraged the Israelites to make God the

centre of the way they live.

Holiness is putting Jesus’ teachings into practice, not

just when it is convenient.

Holiness is about our relationship with God. Through

Jesus, we have the right to speak to God without

barrier, to be bestowed with the full inheritance of His

Kingdom.

A Spiritual MOT?

In the UK, every year, any car over 3 years old, is

required to have an MOT, where the car is checked for

faults and to ensure that it is in good enough condition

to be used legally on the road.

Do we collectively all need a spiritual MOT- to go

deeper with God, to become more like Jesus than we

have ever been?

Adam and Eve, before the fall, walked with God in the

garden. Moses spoke face to face with God and His

face shone with the glory of God. Daniel and John

saw visions of Jesus. There is always another level of

intimacy with God. How is your relationship with God

today?

The Next Forty Days

Over the next 40 days, these Bible readings and

accompanying prayer guide, will take you on your own

journey with God. We hope that by the end of this 40

days, you will not be the same, but will be transformed.

It is intended to be thought provoking, challenging and

make all of us a little uncomfortable. God is the potter,

and we are the clay. (Jeremiah 18:1-10). Let each of us

pray that God moulds us, so that we can all accomplish

what He is asking of us individually and collectively. We

also pray for our neighbours living on our street during

this time.

6 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

A CALL TO HOLINESS IN

OUR STREETS- 40-DAY BIBLE

READING AND PRAYER GUIDE

Day 1

Psalm 24

Of David. A psalm.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world,

and all who live in it.

For he founded it on the seas and established it on the

waters. Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?

Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has

clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an

idol or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication

from God their Saviour.

Such is the generation of those who seek him, who

seek your face, God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, you gate; be lifted up, you ancient

doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this

King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord

mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gate; lift them

up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come

in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty—

he is the King of glory.

Father God, we praise You and we thank You for all the

world, for everything we have. Help all Christians living

on our street, make You their number one priority. Let

there be no idols of power, money, lust, social media,

TV, gaming, family, football, friends, or anything else

that we put above You. Lord, give us a clean heart,

freed from bitterness, unforgiveness and resentments

towards others. Lord, give us hands that are free from

any acts that are displeasing to You. Help us to get into

a closer more intimate relationship with You, so that

You may make a way for Jesus to be known, in power

on our street. Amen

Day 2

Matthew 7:24-27

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine

and puts them into practice is like a wise man who

built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the

streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that

house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation

on the rock. But everyone who hears these words

of mine and does not put them into practice is like

a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain

came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and

beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the

crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he

taught as one who had authority, and not as their

teachers of the law.

Father God, we praise You for Your teachings and the

wisdom held within. We bring before You all people

living on our street, who have ever heard any of Your

teachings perhaps going back many years to Sunday

school as a child. We ask Lord, they will all remember

past teachings, seen in films or through books or their

own reading of the Bible. We thank You that sales of the

Bible went up in 2025 and we pray that all Chrstians,

everywhere will find ways of sharing Your word. Help

all Christians to follow Your teachings in obedience.

Amen

Day 3

Jeremiah 18:1-10

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

“Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give

you, my message.” So, I went down to the potter’s

house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot

he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands;

so, the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as

seemed best to him.

Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I

not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares

the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are

you in my hand, Israel. If at any time I announce that

a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and

destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its

evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster

I had planned. And if at another time I announce that

a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then

I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.

Father God, mould me, so that I become what You

need me to be, to share Jesus with my neighbours and

carry out any other ‘assignments’ that You have laid on

my heart. In the circumstances that we find ourselves

in, whether a time of blessing or difficulty- help us to

have an attitude of joy and thanksgiving, all the time.

Whatever the news reports tell us, help us to be seen

as people of hope and optimism. Amen

Day 4

James 3:1-12

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow

believers, because you know that we who teach will

be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many

ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is

perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make

them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take

ships as an example. Although they are so large and

are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very

small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise,

the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes

great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on

fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world

of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the

whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire,

and is itself set on fire by hell.

All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures

are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but

no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless

evil, full of deadly poison.

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and

with it we curse human beings, who have been made

in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise

and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not

be. Can both fresh water and saltwater flow from the

same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree

bear olive, or a grapevine bear fig? Neither can a salt

spring produce fresh water.

Father, help my lips only speak life on my street. Help

me not to grumble, complain or say negative things

about my street or about anyone else. From my lips

may praises for You come. From my lips may love and

encouragement, bring healing to my neighbours. Help

me not to swear or take Your name in vain. Help people

on my street to know me as someone who speaks

truth and only kind words. Help my mouth represent

Jesus well on my street. Lord, help the same prayers be

true for all who live on our street. Amen

Day 5:

1 Corinthians 6: 12-20

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not

everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do

anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. You

say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,

and God will destroy them both.” The body, however,

is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord,

and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised

the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do

you not know that your bodies are members of Christ

himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and

unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know

that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one

with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become

one flesh.” But whoever is united with the Lord is one

with him in spirit.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person

commits are outside the body, but whoever sins

sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know

that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who

is in you, whom you have received from God? You are

not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore,

honour God with your bodies.

Father, help all Christians and our neighbours, stay

away from pornography. Protect people caught up in

the pornography industry from harm and let there be

better options for people who feel they have no choice.

For those who are ‘trafficked as part of this industry,

please free them. We pray protection over marriages

on our street, so that there are less divorces. Guide

young people to make wise choices, so that they

are not at risk of unwanted pregnancies or sexually

transmitted diseases. For those living in regret in this

area, bring healing and let them know love and not

judgement. Amen

Day 6:

Matthew 7:1-5 Do not judge.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the

same way, you judge others, you will be judged, and

with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your

brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your

own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me

take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there

is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take

the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see

clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

8 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

Father, forgive us for the times that we have judged

others, especially those leading different lifestyles to

our own or of other faiths or none. Help us to show

no judgement to others, but rather love, pointing them

towards Your loving embrace.

Help any neighbour, who feels judged, to experience

love and acceptance. We bring before you families

where someone close to them is in prison, especially

children. Help prejudice due to appearance, race,

religious belief; disappear on the street where we live.

Let that begin with Us. Amen

Day 7

Isaiah 58:6-7

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose

the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,

to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it

not to share your food with the hungry and to provide

the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the

naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your

own flesh and blood?

Lord, help us to lead generous lives and open our eyes to

the suffering of those around us. Reveal to us, families

on our street or in our neighbourhood where someone

has just come out of hospital and needs help with food/

shopping or going to doctors’ appointments. Help all

families on our street look after family members as far

as they are able and for reconciliation where it is safe,

for estranged members of families. If there is anyone

who is a victim of modern-day slavery living in our

neighbourhood- let them be set free in Jesus’ name

Amen.

Day 8:

Matthew 5:13-16 Salt and Light

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses

its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no

longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and

trampled underfoot.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill

cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and

put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand,

and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same

way, let your light shine before others, that they may

see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Father, help all Christians living on our streets shine

brightly, so that collectively our neighbours will see

our ‘good deeds’ and glorify You. Help us to remain

salty, following Jesus’s teachings where we live. Help

us to live in the world, but not compromise the way we

live, so that we are different from those without belief

in Jesus. Show each of us what you are asking us to do

for our neighbours and help us to keep praying for at

least 5 homes every week. Amen

Day 9:

Exodus 34:29-35

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with

the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he

was not aware that his face was radiant because he

had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all the

Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they

were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to

them; so, Aaron and all the leaders of the community

came back to him, and he spoke to them. Afterward

all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all

the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.

When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil

over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord’s

presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until

he came out. And when he came out and told the

Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw

that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the

veil back over his face until he went in to speak with

the Lord.

Father, we want to know You intimately in such a way,

that people will know that we are in relationship with

You. Help us to genuinely know You as friend, and as a

Father and learn to spend more time in Your presence.

Help us to discard the distractions that so easily

prevent us spending time with You- television, gaming,

internet searches, apps on phones and sometimes

being so busy with church and outreach. Help us to

aim to know You in the same way Moses did. We are

sorry for the days when we haven’t made time for You.

Amen

Day 10:

Genesis 3:8-19 Lord walking in the garden

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God,

as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and

they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid

because I was naked; so I hid.”

And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have

you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat

from?”

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

9

The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she

gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this

you have done?”

The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you

have done this,

“Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals!

You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all

the days of your life. And I will put enmity between

you and the woman, and between your offspring and

hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his

heel. “To the woman he said, “I will make your pains

in childbearing very severe; with painful labour you

will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your

husband, and he will rule over you.”

To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife

and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded

you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground

because of you; through painful toil you will eat food

from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns

and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the

field. By the sweat of your brow, you will eat your food

until you return to the ground, since from it you were

taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

Father, we think about you walking in the garden of

Eden and talking face to face with Adam and Eve, with

no barriers. Thank You that since Jesus died on the

cross, sin no longer is a barrier to a deep relationship

with You. Help Us to walk closely with You, inviting You

into all areas of our lives. Help us to deepen our walk

with You, making relationship with You our number

one priority. Amen

Day 11:

Matthew 25:31-46 The Sheep and the Goats

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the

angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All

the nations will be gathered before him, and he will

separate the people one from another as a shepherd

separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the

sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you

who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance,

the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the

world. For I was hungry, and you gave me something

to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to

drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed

clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked

after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when

did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and

give you something to drink? When did we see you

a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and

clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and

go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did

for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of

mine, you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from

me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared

for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you

gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave

me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not

invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe

me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after

me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you

hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or

sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not

do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but

the righteous to eternal life.”

Father, help us to see Your face in the hungry, the

thirsty, the stranger including asylum seekers, those

in poverty and those in prison. In our street or those

living nearby, there will people in need. Help us to get

to know our neighbours and those in our community,

not isolating ourselves from them. Help us love our

neighbours with sincere and soft hearts, not doing

it for show or the approval of others or to tick a box.

Give each of us more love for all the people living on

our streets, so that we might invest time in praying for

them and where possible, befriending them. Amen

Day 12:

Joel 2:13-17 Rend Your Heart Not Your

Garments

Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the

Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate,

slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents

from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and

relent and leave behind a blessing—grain offerings and

drink offerings for the Lord your God. Blow the trumpet

in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.

Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring

together the elders, gather the children, those nursing

at the breast.

10 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her

chamber.

Let the priests, who minister before the Lord, weep

between the portico and the altar. Let them say, “Spare

your people, Lord. Do not make your inheritance an

object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why

should they say among the peoples,

‘Where is their God?’”

Father, help us to free our hearts of bitterness,

unforgiveness and resentment. Heal our hearts from

disappointments and hurts that have hardened our

hearts in any way to You or to other people. Let all

Christians on our street and across the UK hear the call

to get closer to You in this time. Help our neighbours

who grew up in Christian homes, turn back to You and

in turn bring a transformative revival to the UK. Amen

for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah

was right when he prophesied about you:

“‘These people honour me with their lips, but their

hearts are far from me.

They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely

human rules.’” Jesus called the crowd to him and said,

“Listen and understand. What goes into someone’s

mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of

their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you

know that the Pharisees were offended when they

heard this?”

He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has

not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them;

they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both

will fall into a pit.”

Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.”

“Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. “Don’t you

see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the

stomach and then out of the body? But the things that

come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart,

and these defile them. For out of the heart come

evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality,

theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile

a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not

defile them.”

Father, help our hearts to beat in alignment with Your

plans and purposes. Let no thoughts of hatred, lust,

greed or unforgiveness reign in the hearts of any

Christian in our street or across the UK. Fill instead our

hearts with love and let us follow You whole heartedly

without reservation. Amen

Day 13:

Matthew 15:1-20

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came

to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your

disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t

wash their hands before they eat!”

Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command

of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said,

‘Honour your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who

curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ But

you say that if anyone declares that what might have

been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to

God,’ they are not to ‘honour their father or mother’

with it. Thus, you nullify the word of God

Day 14:

Isaiah 53:1-12

Who has believed our message and to whom has the

arm of the Lord been revealed?

He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a

root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of

suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom

people hide their faces he was despised, and we held

him in low esteem. Surely, he took up our pain and

bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished

by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

11

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was

crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that

brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we

are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each

of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid

on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and

afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led

like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its

shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet

who of his generation protested? For he was cut off

from the land of the living; for the transgression of my

people he was punished. He was assigned a grave with

the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he

had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to

suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering

for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After

he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be

satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will

justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore

I will give him a portion among the great, and he will

divide the spoils with the strong because he poured

out his life unto death, and was numbered with the

transgressors. For he bore the sin of many and made

intercession for the transgressors.

Father, help all our neighbours to come to an

understanding that Jesus died on the cross for each

one of them. Help them to ask for forgiveness for any

sins that they have committed and understand that

they are forgiven. Help people to walk free of guilt,

anxiety and depression, knowing that they are loved,

they are accepted by God- whatever it is that weighs

them down. We pray for our Jewish neighbours to

know that Jesus is their Messiah and for our Muslim

neighbours to come to know that they cannot ‘earn’

their way to Heaven. Help both Jewish and Muslim

neighbours to only ever feel love from their Christian

neighbours. Amen

Day 15:

John 1:12-13

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed

in his name, he gave the right to become children of

God— children born not of natural descent, nor of

human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Father, help all our neighbours come to believe in

Jesus, so that they may gain the privilege of becoming

a child of God. Help those who feel empty and in

need of something to fill the void, turn to You. Bring

opportunities for us to share the Gospel with those

living on our streets, giving them the greatest gift,

anyone could have – to know God. Amen

Day 16:

Joel 2:28-29 Visions and dreams

“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men

will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour

out my Spirit in those days.

Father, thank You that many Christians already have

dreams and visions. We pray that this will be a reality for

as many as would wish desire to have these gifts. We

pray for Your Holy Spirit to flow through our streets, in

such a way, that people who do not yet know You, will

have dreams and visions of You. Lord let Your Kingdom

come, let Your will be done on {add your street name}

Amen

Day 17:

Psalm 42 As a deer pants for God

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul

pants for you, my God.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I

go and meet with God?

My tears have been my food day and night, while

people say to me all day long,

“Where is your God? “These things I remember as I

pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God

under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of

joy and praise among the festive throng. Why, my soul,

are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put

your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour

and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore

I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the

heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to

deep n the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and

breakers have swept over me. By day the Lord directs

his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the

God of my life. I say to God my Rock,

“Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about

mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” My bones suffer

mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all

day long, “Where is your God?” Why, my soul, are you

downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your

hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and

my God.

12 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

Father, help us to be so desperate for You that we seek

You will all our heart. Help us to long for Your presence

above all else. Amen

Put worship music on, free yourself from distraction.

Forgive anyone you need to forgive. Repent of anything

you have done wrong and even ask God to forgive you

for the things you don’t know you have done wrong.

Take communion and then in silence ask God to speak

to you.

Day 18:

Achan’s sin, Joshua 7:10-26

The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you

doing down on your face? Israel has sinned; they have

violated my covenant, which I commanded them to

keep. They have taken some of the devoted things;

they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them

with their own possessions. That is why the Israelites

cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their

backs and run because they have been made liable

to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless

you destroy whatever among you is devoted to

destruction.

“Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate

yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is

what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are

devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand

against your enemies until you remove them.

“‘In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe.

The tribe the Lord chooses shall come forward clan

by clan; the clan the Lord chooses shall come forward

family by family; and the family the Lord chooses

shall come forward man by man. Whoever is caught

with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire,

along with all that belongs to him. He has violated

the covenant of the Lord and has done an outrageous

thing in Israel!’”

Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward

by tribes, and Judah was chosen. The clans of Judah

came forward, and the Zerahites were chosen. He had

the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and

Zimri was chosen. Joshua had his family come forward

man by man, and Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri,

the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was chosen.

Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the

Lord, the God of Israel, and honor him. Tell me what

you have done; do not hide it from me.”

Achan replied, “It is true! I have sinned against the Lord,

the God of Israel. This is what I have done: When I saw

in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two

hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing

fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are

hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver

underneath.”

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent,

and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver

underneath. They took the things from the tent,

brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and

spread them out before the Lord.

Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son

of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and

daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and

all that he had, to the Valley of Achor. Joshua said,

“Why have you brought this trouble on us? The Lord

will bring trouble on you today.”

Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned

the rest, they burned them. Over Achan they heaped

up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then

the Lord turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that

place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since.

Father, help us to avoid the temptation of making,

earning or acquiring wealth, more important than

Jesus, our saviour. Reveal the idols of our own heartsanything

that is more important to us than God and

His Kingdom. Help us to rid ourselves of distractions

or anything that stands in the way of Your kingdom

coming in power on our street. Thank you Lord, that

Jesus died for our sins, so that we do not have to

bear the consequences of our sins the same way as in

Achan’s time. Amen

Day 19:

Numbers 25:1-9 After Balam’s blessings –

idolatory

While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to

indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women,

who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The

people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before

these gods. So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of

Peor. And the Lord’s anger burned against them.

The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of these

people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight

before the Lord, so that the Lord’s fierce anger may

turn away from Israel.”

So Moses said to Israel’s judges, “Each of you must

put to death those of your people who have yoked

themselves to the Baal of Peor.”

Then an Israelite man brought into the camp a

Midianite woman right before the eyes of Moses and

the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

13

at the entrance to the tent of meeting. When Phinehas

son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this,

he left the assembly, took a spear in his hand and

followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear

into both of them, right through the Israelite man and

into the woman’s stomach. Then the plague against

the Israelites was stopped; but those who died in the

plague numbered 24,000.

Father, help all Christians on our street and across the

UK to refrain from sex outside of marriage and adultery.

Help all of us to be careful to follow Jesus’ teachings,

even when it is inconvenient to us or counter cultural.

Let us follow You wholeheartedly as the whole body

of Christ, united in desperation to see You move in our

Nation powerfully. Amen

Day 20:

Romans 12:1-2 Living Sacrifice

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of

God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,

holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper

worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world

but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s

will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Father, help all Christians on our streets, surrounding

streets and in all the streets in the UK – make our lives

a living sacrifice, Holy and pleasing to You. Do not let

us conform to what is popular in culture. Help all of us

to read Your word more, study Your word and follow

Your teachings. Lord also help our neighbours come

into contact with Your word and teachings even if it is

through social media, Christian films or books. Amen

Day 21:

1 Peter 2:9-10 Holy nation

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy

nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare

the praises of him who called you out of darkness into

his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but

now you are the people of God; once you had not

received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Hebrews 12:14 Pursue Peace and Holiness-

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and

to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Father, we ask for peace to reign in our hearts through

the power of Your Holy Spirit. But we also ask for

peace to reign on our streets, so that arguments and

disagreements between neighbours will cease. Help

us to be peacemakers, even when our instincts can be

to argue when treated unfairly. Help us to be bringers

of reconciliation through events on our street that

bring others together. Help us to be Holy before You,

even when it makes us unpopular and sometimes in

the minority. Amen

Day 23:

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help

in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the

earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart

of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the

mountains quake with their surging. There is a river

whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy

place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her

at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;

he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty

is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and

see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has

brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the

ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters

the spear; he burns the shields[ with fire. He says, “Be

still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among

the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord

Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Father, forgive us that sometimes we get so busy

trying to do work for You or for our families, for our

workplace, that we forget to ‘be with You.’ Forgive us,

when we are going through difficulties, that we have

not come to You first with our problems. Help us to be

still and know that You are God. Help our neighbours to

‘Be still and know that You are God in the storms and

turmoil life often brings. Amen

Father, help all Christians on our street, live life as

though living for the King – Jesus. Let everything we

do in life, serve Him and His Kingdom. Help us to live to

please Him rather than ourselves, sacrificing resources

and time to ‘Magnify Jesus’ on our Streets. Amen

Day 22:

14 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

Day 24:

Exodus 19:10 Consecration, before the Lord

appears.

And the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and

consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them

wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the third day,

because on that day the Lord will come down on

Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.

Lord, help all of us ‘consecrate ourselves’ with prayer,

with fasting, with following Your teachings and

throwing out anything in our lives that prevents us

following You fully. Help all of us to be ready for the

second coming of Jesus and for the whole bride of

Christ to ‘wake up’ to the times in which we live. Amen

Day 25:

John 8:44 Father of lies Matt 5:33-37

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to

carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer

from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there

is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native

language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Matthew 5:33-37

“Again, you have heard that it was said to the people

long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfil to the Lord

the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear

an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem,

for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear

by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white

or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’;

anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Lord, forgive us for any time that we have lied even

‘white lies’ meant to not upset others. Lord let no lies

or deceit be on our lips. Help us to be known as people

who tell the truth and people of integrity. Father, we

pray all Christians living on our streets, will be people of

integrity, doing what they say and not making promises

they cannot keep. Let people keep things simple only

saying they will do things that they can. Let this be true

of all our neighbours, so that neighbourhoods, families

and workplaces are transformed. Amen

Day 26:

2 chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble

themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from

their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I

will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Father, help all Christians on our street and across all

the streets in the UK, pray for those living immediately

nearby. Help all of us seek your face and let no wicked

act be among us. Help us make it a priority to not only

pray for ourselves and those closest to us, but the

nations of the UK. Amen.

Day 27

Matthew 6:19-24

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,

where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves

break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures

in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy,

and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where

your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are

healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if

your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full

of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness,

how great is that darkness!

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate

the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to

the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both

God and money.

Father, help us to be generous with the resources

we have, whether we have a little or have a lot. Help

Christians to give money to Foodbanks, Christians

Against Poverty and similar, homeless shelters,

churches and any charity that seeks to advance Your

Kingdom. For those of us with little, improve our

situation, so that we have more than enough to bless

others. Help all of us to seek You above all else. Amen

Day 28:

Unity John 17:21, Psalm 133.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those

who will believe in me through their message, that all

of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me, and

I am in you. May they also be in us, so that the world

may believe that you have sent me.

Psalm 133:

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live

together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the

head, running down on the beard, running down on

Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as

if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.

For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life

forevermore.

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

15

Father, we pray for the unity of Christian churches in

our postcode area. We are all on the same team- team

Jesus. Let differences over how we run our services and

pray and even different understanding of doctrine, be

put aside. Help all churches unite in the goal of seeing

every household, every street and the UK magnifying

Jesus. Amen

Day 29:

Isaiah 61:1-3 Bind up the broken hearted…

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the

Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the

poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from

darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the

Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God,

to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who

grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty

instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning,

and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of

the Lord for the display of his splendour.

Father, we thank You that we are anointed now

(through Jesus) to proclaim good news to the poor,

to bind up the broken hearted and proclaim freedom

to those who live without a knowledge of Jesus. Help

us to comfort all who mourn, bring joy where we live

and praise and thanksgiving instead of grumbling and

despair. Help all of our neighbours living on our street

come to know You. Amen

Pray by name for 5 of your neighbours, putting their

names on your fridge to pray for them daily.

Father, we pray for all of our neighbours struggling

under the weight of credit card debt, loans, hefty

mortgages or rent payments that are behind. Lord, we

pray that we can live in a society where the ‘poor’ are

not vulnerable to exploitation. Help all Christians living

on our street to get out of debt and stay out of debt.

Help all living on our street to have enough income, so

that they are not forced into debt for essential repairs

or car maintenance or simply the cost of living. Amen

Day 31:

1 Timothy 5:8

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives and

especially for their own household, has denied the

faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Father, we pray that all Christians living on our street,

will, if able, work and earn money to support their

families. We pray that on the streets where we live,

there will be a reduction in people claiming benefits

instead of working either through choice or because

there are no jobs. We ask Lord that all who can work,

will find jobs to support their families. We bring before

you, many people with disabling health conditionsespecially

those that are not obvious. Bring healing to

them. For all people struggling with significant health

issues that keep them from working we pray for more

money to improve their lives- money to adapt homes,

money for wheelchairs or mobility and money for

carers. Help Christians across the UK, to see the people

missing in our congregations- the ones who simply

cannot get to church. We repent as a community of

Christians across many streets in the UK, for the times

we have not helped or known about people on our

streets with significant health needs. Amen

Day 32:

Matthew 18:21-35 Forgiveness

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many

times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins

against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I

tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Day 30:

Romans 13:8 Let no debt remain

outstanding…

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing

debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has

fulfilled the law.

“Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who

wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he

began the settlement, a man who owed him ten

thousand bags of gold was brought to him. Since he

was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and

his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to

repay the debt.

“At this the servant fell on his knees before him.

‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back

16 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

everything.’ The servant’s master took pity on him,

cancelled the debt and let him go.

“But when that servant went out, he found one of his

fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins.

He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back

what you owe me!’ he demanded.

“His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him,

‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’

“But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man

thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When

the other servants saw what had happened, they were

outraged and went and told their master everything

that had happened.

“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked

servant,’ he said, ‘I cancelled all that debt of yours

because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had

mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In

anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be

tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

“This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you

unless you forgive your brother or sister from your

heart.”

Father, we bring before you, everyone who has hurt us.

Forgive us for holding onto resentment and offense.

Lord, help us to forgive those who have done terrible

things to us, sometimes deliberately and sometimes

without them being fully aware of how their actions

have affected us. Reveal to each of us praying, people

we may have hurt and show us a way forward in these

situations. Amen.

Spend time bringing before God, anyone who has hurt

you. If necessary as this can bring up a lot of emotionsspeak

to your church leader or a trusted Christian

friend and pray together.

Day 33:

Romans 12:18

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at

peace with everyone.

Father, help us to be at peace with our work colleagues,

our neighbours, our family members and friends. Help

us to be the best version of ourselves, not lashing out

in a temper, or seeking revenge when people hurt us.

Help us especially when hurt, to come to You in prayer

and place things at Your cross. Reveal to us where

we are blind to our own mistakes, where we might

improve. Help us to hold our tongue and only act upon

Your guidance and the wise counsel of others. Where

it is not possible or safe to be reconciled with others

where relationships are broken- heal us and give us

peace. Amen

Day 34:

Matthew 5:43-48 Love your enemy.

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour

and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies

and pray for those who persecute you, that you may

be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun

to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the

righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who

love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the

tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your

own people, what are you doing more than others?

Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as

your heavenly Father is perfect.

Father, we pray for those who persecute Christians

around the world and in some cases in the UK. We

pray for those in our workplaces, in our streets and

among family and friends, who make life difficult for

us. We pray for those who insult us, bully us, physically

hurt us, that they will come to know You as their Lord

and Saviour. Bring healing to us and do not allow any

bitterness to get into our hearts. Show us ways to love

those who would seek to harm us. Amen

Day 35:

John 13:34-35

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I

have loved you, so you must love one another. By this

everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you

love one another.”

Father, help us to connect with other Christians living

on our street, no matter what church or denomination

that they go to. Help us to love one another in such a

40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

17

way that none believers take note and are ‘attracted’

to a ‘magnetic’ community. Help me be the change I

want to see in my street, in my workplace and in the

UK. Amen

Day 36:

Acts 2:42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching

and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to

prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many

wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All

the believers were together and had everything in

common. They sold property and possessions to give

to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to

meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread

in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere

hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all

the people. And the Lord added to their number daily

those who were being saved.

Father, help me to think about radical ways I can offer

my time, my money and my material possessions, to

those in need around me. Help me to strike a balance

between spending time with other Christian believers

and acts of service to the wider community. Help all

Christians on my street and in the UK, to be devoted to

prayer and Bible reading and study. Lord, we pray that

You will add daily to those being saved on our streets

and in our churches. Amen

help all of us to pray with passion, for more to become

Your disciples. help more of us to care for those in

need, with hearts of genuine love and compassion.

Help all of us, with the help of Your Holy Spirit, tell

our neighbours, our friends, our work colleagues and

those in our community, about Jesus, with confidence

and with faith. Amen

Day 38:

Matthew 22:34-40 The Greatest Commandment

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the

Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the

law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is

the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your

heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

This is the first and greatest commandment. And the

second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two

commandments.”

Lord, help us to love You with all our heart, with all our

soul and with all our mind. Show us what this means.

Help all of us to love our immediate neighbour, living

on our street as well as our neighbours in the broadest

definition. We ask for You to guide us in this and we

are sorry when we have failed to live up to these

commands. Amen

Day 37:

Matthew 28: 16-20 The Great Commission

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the

mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When

they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in

heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore,

go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in

the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy

Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have

commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to

the very end of the age.”

Father, forgive us, when we have collectively, as Your

people, failed to do our part in the ‘Great Commission’

to make disciples of all nations. We thank You that in

the UK right now, we have so many ‘nations’ visiting

and making their home among us, both Christians

who are strengthening our churches and those who do

not yet know You. We thank You for the opportunity

that this creates to influence people around the world,

right from our doorstep. All of us have a part to play, so

Day 39:

Luke 10 parable of the Samaritan (verses

25-37) – would you walk by on the other side?

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test

Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit

eternal life?”

“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you

read it?”

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your

heart and with all your soul and with all your strength

and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as

yourself.’”

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this

and you will live.”

But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus,

“And who is my neighbour?”

In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from

Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by

robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and

18 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened

to be going down the same road, and when he saw the

man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite,

when he came to the place and saw him, passed by

on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he travelled,

came where the man was; and when he saw him, he

took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his

wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man

on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took

care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and

gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said,

‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra

expense you may have.’

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to

the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy

on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Father, we praise You for all the people around us,

who are not like us- those who live different lifestyles,

those of other cultures, those of other religions. Help

us to have mercy upon ALL in need, regardless of our

own views and preferences. Expand and elasticate our

hearts, so that our compassion for others is greater

day by day. Give us the compassion of Jesus. Amen.

Day 40:

Revelation 3:14-18 Lukewarm.

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and

true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your

deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you

were either one or the other! So, because you are

lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you

out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired

wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize

that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire,

so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so

you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to

put on your eyes, so you can see.

Lord, as we end this 40-day journey, help us never

to become luke-warm, comfortable or hard hearted

towards You and towards others. Help us to burn

brightly as a light in the darkness on our streets and

where-ever we set our foot (Matthew 5:13-16). Help

us grow daily in our love for You and for others. Amen

OPERATION CONSECRATE

THE LAND: ENFORCING GOD’S

KINGDOM IN OUR TOWN

by Pastor Pastor Emmanuel D’Almeida

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world,

and all who live in it.”

Psalm 24:1

Over the past season, our church has stepped out

in faith through a ministry we believe God placed on

our hearts: Operation Consecrate the Land. Inspired

by Psalm 24, this initiative was born of a simple yet

powerful conviction - that our town and nation belong

to the Lord, and that, as His people, we are called to lift

up the gates and invite the King of glory to come in. As

His people, we are called to enforce His kingdom here

on earth.

A Call to Consecration

The journey began within the church at the beginning

of the year when God revealed to me that we must lead

the church in a year of consecration. So, the first stage,

before going out, was to consecrate ourselves afresh

to God. As a church, we committed ourselves to prayer,

repentance, and deeper surrender, recognising that

transformation in the land begins with transformation

in God’s people. We set aside time each month for

corporate fasting and seeking God’s face.

As hearts aligned, many stepped up spiritually -

embracing prayer, obedience, boldness, and a renewed

hunger for God. There was a tangible sense that the

Lord was preparing us for what He wanted to do

beyond the church walls. There was a great sense of

mobilisation and enthusiasm for something new and

powerful.

Consecrating the Land

In obedience and faith, we went out to pray and anoint

over 900 streets across Redditch. We walked, prayed,

declared Scripture, and asked God to reclaim what

belongs to Him. This wasn’t about spectacle or physical

exercise; it was about wrestling with the spiritual

atmosphere by the power of the Holy Spirit. We

intentionally engaged with the spiritual atmosphere,

proclaiming that Jesus is Lord over every home, every

street, and every life. We anointed all the street name

plates in Redditch.

As we were praying and consecrating, we connected

with members of the local community; listening,

praying when invited, and showing God’s love in very

simple and practical ways. We talked to people about

our church and invited them to our Sunday service.

Fruit in the Church: Revival and Salvation

As we prayed over the land, we also began to see

remarkable fruit within the church. There is no other

way to describe it than the beginning of a revival.

We held two baptism services - one in September and

another this January - and baptised 19 people in total.

During the most recent baptism service, 14 people

gave their lives to Jesus. Testimonies of salvation,

renewal, and transformation filled the room, and the

joy was unique.

One person turned up at our church service on a Sunday

after a team prayed and anointed a street nameplate

next to her house – they did not even realise the team

were there. Another person attended our service on

Sunday because they could not sleep the night before

and felt God wanted them to come to our church.

Many people stepped into new levels of faith with

a fresh confidence and desire for God. The spiritual

temperature of the church has changed.

Impact Beyond the Church Walls

While we know we cannot claim credit for everything

that happens in a town, we cannot ignore what God has

been doing in our community during this same season.

There has been a successful police raid on a sex and

drug trafficking gang, resulting in the arrest of its

leaders. Authorities also discovered a large cannabis

20 40 DAY OF SCRIPTURES AND PRAYER

farm in our town. While challenges remain and negative

things still occur, there is a growing sense of exposure,

accountability, and change.

We believe that as the church prayed, God moved—

shining His light into hidden places and disrupting

works of darkness.

The King of Glory Is on the Move

Psalm 24 asks:

“Who is this King of glory?

The Lord strong and mighty,

the Lord mighty in battle.”

We are convinced that God is on the move with us,

among us, and ahead of us. Operation Consecrate the

Land has reminded us that prayer matters, obedience

matters, and that when God’s people respond to

His call, both the church and the community can be

changed.

We continue to press forward in humility and faith,

knowing that the land belongs to the Lord and

believing that the King of glory is still coming in. We are

exploring expanding Operation Consecrate the Land to

other areas of the Midlands and hope to see this prayer

initiative take the entire country.

When We Pray, God Moves! And He moves with power,

grace and mercy!

OPERATION CONSECRATE

THE LAND – IN YOUR STREET,

YOUR VILLAGE, YOUR TOWN

AND YOUR CITY

‘A Mile with Jesus’ is partnering with this initiative

started by Pastor Emaanuel d”Almeida.

We have written a prayer walking guide called ‘A Mile

with Jesus’ to help you. This guide also includes a

‘Virtual prayer walking guide’ for those who are unable

to walk or walk long distances for health reasons.

In addition to the ‘A Mile with Jesus’ vision, we are

asking you to add on, ‘Operation Consecrate the Land’

as detailed in the article written by Pastor Emmanuel

D’Almeida.

To consecrate the land, we suggest that you -

consecrate yourself before going out. We suggest this

is done as a group of three.

‘A Mile with Jesus is the ‘Prayer- walking’ arm of Houses

of Light. The vision of ‘A Mile with Jesus’ is simple.

1. Every time: you leave your home- pray a blessing

over your street and as you walk down your street,

pray for all your neighbours living on your street.

2. Once a month: ‘Prayer-walk, prayer drive or virtually

prayer walk a literal MILE from your home, all the

streets you come across on that ‘mile’ journey.

3. Once a year: In the last weekend of September,

we gather together Christians from your own

church or across churches, so that all of you aim to

walk ‘A Mile with Jesus’ covering as many streets

as possible in your area. In the last weekend of

September - delete. We encourage people to gather

together after prayer walking in mini ‘A Mile with

Jesus’ conferences. See our website for upcoming

conferences and if there are none near you, perhaps

consider hosting one.

1. Forgive anyone who has hurt you and ask God for

forgiveness for anyone you have hurt.

2. Praise God with worship before you go out.

3. Take communion -bread and wine, thanking Jesus

for dying on the cross for you.

4. Pray over some olive oil, for the olive oil to be a

conduit of God’s blessing and a representation of

the Holy Spirit on your street.

5. When you come across the name plates for roads

and the entrance and exit of streets, put some olive

oil on them and pray as the Holy Spirit leads.

PRAYING FOR

STREETS / ROADS

• Ask God what He is saying about a street. How does

He see it?

• Pray for anyone you see walking by. If you feel Jesus is

asking you, ask someone if they want prayer.

• Pray for the safety of all drivers, all cyclists and

pedestrians.

• Pray for all living on the street you are on, to come to

know Jesus.

• Pray for the blessing of God to come in abundance on

this street.

• For people to feel that there is a sense of community

on this street and for the lonely to find friendship and

love.

• For protection from anti-social behaviour, theft and

violence. For peace on our street.

Go the second mile

Matthew 5:38-42

‘You have heard that it was said, “Eye for eye, and tooth

for tooth.” But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If

anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the

other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and

take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone

forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away

from the one who wants to borrow from you.’

The context of going a second mile when someone

asked them to go one, was one where the Romans

would often force people to walk with them a mile.

How much more should we consider going the

extra mile, when Jesus asks us?
