Packaging Solutions Company of the Month
Meeting the challenge
of innovation and
sustainability in packaging
In this issue of Packaging, Warehouse
and Logistics we have featured Pont
Packaging Group as our Packaging
Solutions Company of the Month
Founded in Amsterdam in 1906, Pont brings 120 years
of packaging expertise to customers across Europe.
With a strong logistics and warehousing network,
the company supplies plastic and glass containers,
bottles, closures and accessories in virgin, recycled,
bio and fibre-based materials, supporting a range of
sectors.
Manufacturers across Europe are balancing cost,
resilience and compliance in an increasingly complex
environment. For Paul Janssen, Group Operations
Director at Pont Packaging Group, who oversees the
company’s quality, logistics, warehousing and supply
chain strategy, these pressures are no longer isolated
challenges but deeply interconnected.
He explains, "Across industries,
our customers are facing a
convergence of pressures.
Supply chain volatility, rising
transportation costs, expanding
compliance requirements,
sustainability mandates, labour
shortages, and increasingly
complex product portfolios are all
happening at once.
“Major disruptions like COVID
made one thing very clear: the
longer and more fragmented a
supply chain is, the less resilient it
tends to be. The focus has shifted from pure unit-cost
optimisation to balancing cost, continuity, and risk.
“What we hear consistently is that customers
are looking for partners who understand the full
operational picture from packaging design to logistics
execution and regulatory compliance."
Balancing efficiency with protection, cost and
sustainability is one of the most complex challenges
facing packaging and logistics teams. For Janssen,
the starting point is operational clarity rather than
assumption.
"Balancing these factors always starts with
understanding reality and not assumptions. We
begin with data. How fragile is the product? How is
it handled? Which transport modes are used? What
are the storage conditions? Without that foundation,
optimisation quickly becomes theoretical and in our
world, theory can become costly.
“Cost efficiency rarely comes from material price
alone. The bigger impact often lies in dimensional
weight, palletisation patterns, and cube utilisation
during transport. Even small adjustments in design can
translate into significant freight savings over time. This
is where packaging and logistics must be considered
together.
“Sustainability is integrated
from the beginning. We evaluate
recyclable and reusable materials,
design for minimal waste, and
assess carbon impact across
the lifecycle. But sustainability
must be technically sound.
Lightweighting only makes sense
if mechanical stability, filling-line
performance, and protection
levels remain intact. Otherwise,
the risk simply shifts elsewhere."
Sustainability in logistics is
often associated with visible
infrastructure upgrades, but
for Janssen it extends into broader operational and
strategic decisions.
"Sustainability in warehousing and logistics operates
on several levels.
“There are visible measures like solar panels, LED
lighting, electric forklifts or motion sensors that
activate lights only when needed as an example.
These are important and deliver measurable energy
savings. However, sustainability goes far beyond
infrastructure. Focusing on integrated energy-efficient
layouts, optimised routing strategies, structured waste
management, and responsible sourcing into our daily
operations is a declared goal.
“At a strategic level, sustainability influences
investment decisions, supplier selection, network
design, and digitalisation priorities. Customers
increasingly expect measurable carbon data and full
traceability. Sustainability in logistics is closely linked to
resilience and competitiveness. When environmental
performance and operational excellence are aligned,
they reinforce each other."
The packaging and logistics landscape is no
longer defined purely by distribution efficiency. For
Janssen, the scope of operations management has
fundamentally expanded.
"Operations management is no longer limited to
fulfilling the classical 7 R’s of logistics which are
principles I learned during my studies and shaped
in an era primarily focused on physical distribution
efficiency. While those fundamentals remain
essential, today’s supply chains must also manage
information transparency, sustainability performance,
and regulatory compliance as equally important
dimensions. In that sense, logistics has effectively
evolved beyond the traditional 7 R’s. You could say we
are operating in a world of eight or even nine R’s.
“Looking ahead, I see four main driving forces shaping
the landscape:
“First, regulation and accountability will continue to
increase, particularly in Europe. Requirements around
packaging waste, recyclability, carbon reporting, and
extended producer responsibility are becoming more
detailed and more dynamic. Structured data and
proactive compliance management will be essential.
“Second, automation and digitisation will mature.
There is a lot of excitement around robotics, AI,
and warehouse automation and rightly so. I think
these opportunities are extremely fascinating and
technologies like AI-driven inventory management,
automated picking systems, or even drone-based
stock counting are already available. Automation
must create measurable business value. In our
experience, the greatest impact often lies in digitised
information flows, connected warehouses, seamless
documentation, and real-time visibility. The ability
to manage data intelligently will become a key
competitive advantage.
“Third, regionalisation and network flexibility will remain
important. Companies are building optionality into their
supply chains, diversifying suppliers and designing
more adaptable logistics networks to balance cost
with resilience.
4
PWL is sponsored by Steadfast Tapes – see them on page 9
Packaging Solutions Company of the Month
“Fourth, circular economy principles will become
operational standards rather than marketing
statements. Reusable systems, design-forrecyclability,
and lifecycle thinking will increasingly
shape packaging strategies."
As these structural shifts accelerate, responding
requires more than a transactional supplier
relationship. For Janssen, the focus is on translating
structural change into practical, operational stability.
"The complexity of today’s packaging and logistics
environment requires more than a transactional
supplier relationship. At Pont, we position ourselves as
an integrated partner who translates structural change
into practical solutions.
“Our approach is built on three pillars.
ä Infrastructure and proximity – We continue to
strengthen and optimise our European warehouse
network to improve responsiveness and availability.
Strategic positioning closer to key markets reduces
lead times and increases operational stability
without adding complexity for our customers.
ä Compliance intelligence and technical depth
– With regulation becoming more dynamic,
structured compliance management is a decisive
capability. Today, we manage more than 10,000
quality documents including Declarations of
Conformity, Certificates of Conformity, and legal
information sheets covering over 30 regulatory
frameworks. Using technologies such as OCRbased
data extraction combined with structured
databases, we can identify within minutes which
of our 3,500+ portfolio items are affected by
regulatory updates. In an environment where
product approval increasingly depends on verified
documentation, this responsiveness creates real
value for our customers.
ä Sustainability integration and responsible
sourcing – Sustainable procurement and
compliance go hand in hand. We embed circular
economy principles into packaging development
and logistics operations, supported by our
dedicated Green Packaging department as a
centre of expertise. Because we have demanded
structured sustainability information from our
supply chain partners for years, regulatory
tightening affects us less disruptively than in parts
of the market.
“Our ambition is clear: to be the resilient partner our
customers can rely on when complexity increases. By
combining infrastructure, technical expertise, digital
compliance systems, and sustainability alignment,
we create long-term operational stability rather than
short-term optimisation."
A major step in strengthening that operational
foundation has been Pont’s recent warehouse
expansion programme.
"Last year’s warehousing programme was one of
the largest infrastructure initiatives in our company’s
history. New facilities were successfully launched
in Poland, the UK, and France each with a specific
strategic focus.
“Our warehouse network is the backbone of our
operations. Expanding and modernising it allows us to
serve customers more efficiently, manage stock with
greater precision, and prepare for future growth. All
projects were implemented on schedule and are fully
operational."
Beyond additional capacity, the new facilities introduce
enhanced operational capabilities.
"All sites operate to state-of-the-art industry
standards in terms of building design, racking systems,
material handling equipment, and software. Advanced
WMS systems provide real-time inventory visibility.
We have established EDI connections between
the WMS and our ERP systems, creating highly
automated, consistent information flows with minimal
risk of manual error.
“We have also expanded forwarding capacity to
ensure fast, stable, and highly reliable outbound
logistics."
For customers, the impact is tangible.
"The new warehouse setup strengthens our service
levels in several dimensions. Improved geographic
positioning reduces transit times significantly, while
optimised picking routes and higher stock availability
accelerate order fulfilment.
“At the same time, the additional capacity allows
us to buffer demand fluctuations more effectively.
Inventory portfolios are tailored per location according
to regional customer demand patterns, and if required,
we can transfer stock between sites to ensure
continuous availability. The modular layout of the
facilities supports future growth without the need
for major structural changes, and built-in network
redundancy enhances operational continuity in the
event of disruptions.
“The 2025 warehouse expansion significantly
enhances capacity, resilience, and responsiveness
across our network. And it is not the end of our
journey. Our ambitious growth strategy and
infrastructure development will continue in the coming
years."

Reliable packaging solutions
that just work
In this issue of Packaging, Warehouse
& Logistics, we are pleased to feature
Steadfast Tapes Ltd as our Packaging
Company of the Month
Packaging Company of the Month
Since its founding in
2009, Steadfast Tapes
has focused on making
packaging simple,
reliable, and effective.
Based in Huddersfield,
the company began by
supplying industrial and
packaging customers
with high-quality adhesive
tapes that didn’t just
stick — they performed
consistently and looked
good doing it. From plain
tapes to surface-printed
designs in up to three
colours, Steadfast has
always understood the
real-world demands
of busy warehouses,
production lines, and
high-volume packing
environments. Its
products were designed
from the outset to
withstand the pressures
of day-to-day operations while supporting brand
presentation and product security.
In 2022, the business joined the LOGO Tape Group,
a move that unlocked fresh investment, expanded
manufacturing capabilities, and access to technical
expertise across Europe. Under the leadership of
Victoria Talbot, Steadfast has strengthened its
service offering, increased production capacity,
and streamlined operations, all while maintaining
the responsiveness and flexibility of a UK-based
manufacturer. The acquisition also enabled the
business to leverage wider group resources, including
advanced printing and adhesive technologies, which
have further enhanced its ability to meet specialist
customer requirements.
Operating from a single site in West Yorkshire,
everything happens under one roof — from
production and quality control to storage, order
processing, and dispatch. This integrated approach
allows Steadfast to maintain tight control over
quality and ensure reliable deliveries across the UK,
whether for local businesses or national distribution
operations. Customers can trust that every tape
leaving the Huddersfield facility meets exacting
standards and is delivered on time.
Steadfast Tapes’ product range is extensive, covering
PVC and polypropylene tapes, low-noise and hotmelt
adhesives, paper-based and water-activated options,
and printed tapes for branding, identification, and
security. Beyond standard products, the company
supplies specialist components such as carry
handles, tear tape, and resealable solutions, thanks
to the technical and manufacturing capabilities of
the LOGO Tape Group. This combination allows
Steadfast to serve both everyday packaging needs
and more technically
demanding applications
across a variety of
industries.
What truly sets Steadfast
apart is the blend of
UK-based manufacturing,
hands-on technical
expertise, and access to
wider group resources.
Customers benefit from
consistent product
quality, realistic lead times,
and close collaboration
during the specification
stage, ensuring the
right adhesive, material,
and print format for
every application.
Whether supplying a
small co-packer or a
large distribution centre,
Steadfast is positioned
as a long-term partner,
delivering tailored
solutions rather than commoditised products.
Innovation is a core focus for the business. A new
ink mixing and colour
management system
is improving colour
accuracy, repeatability,
and efficiency
across printed tape
production, reducing
waste and speeding
up set-ups. Three
new printing machines
are being installed at
the Huddersfield site,
increasing capacity while improving operational
consistency and resilience. Looking ahead, a new
ERP system will bring greater visibility across
production, inventory, order processing, and
reporting, enabling smoother operations for both the
business and its customers.
Sustainability is also a key priority. Steadfast Tapes
offers water-activated tapes, recycled-content PET
tapes, and paper-based options, helping customers
reduce plastic use and meet evolving environmental
standards without compromising performance. These
solutions are increasingly in demand across industrial,
food, warehousing, logistics, and distribution sectors,
where businesses are looking to balance operational
efficiency with environmental responsibility.
Serving both SMEs and large-scale operations,
Steadfast works closely with manufacturers,
co-packers, fulfilment centres, and distribution
businesses that value performance, compliance,
and brand presentation. Its philosophy centres on
reliability, consistency, and long-term partnership,
treating packaging as more than a commodity. Longterm
customer relationships are reinforced by skilled,
engaged teams, continuous process improvement,
and investment in staff development through
apprenticeships and professional programmes,
ensuring the company maintains high levels of
technical knowledge and manufacturing expertise.
Victoria Talbot explains the company’s priorities,
“Looking ahead, our focus is on building a scalable,
resilient manufacturing operation to meet evolving
packaging needs. We’re continuing to maximise
recent investments in printing, digital systems,
and process control, while expanding sustainable
solutions such as paper-based and water-activated
tapes, & exploring alternative materials & adhesives.”
In an industry under increasing pressure to deliver
on performance, sustainability, and supply chain
resilience, Steadfast Tapes remains committed
to providing dependable, well-engineered
packaging solutions. Its combination of disciplined
manufacturing, technological investment, and highly
skilled people ensures customers receive consistent
quality and reliable service. As part of the LOGO Tape
Group, the company
combines UK-based
agility with wider group
expertise, supporting
a diverse customer
base while maintaining
transparency, trust, and
long-term partnership
across industrial,
food, warehousing,
logistics, and distribution
environments.

PULS expands its field power
supply portfolio for decentralised
industrial applications
PULS now offers the industry’s broadest
portfolio of decentralised field power supplies,
with the recent introduction of new low-power
(100W, 200W) and high-power (1,400W)
variants. These additions complement the
established 360W and 600W product range,
enabling scalable power solutions for virtually
unlimited industrial applications, including
intralogistics, factory automation, industrial
control, conveyor systems, materials handling,
storage technology and robotics.
The rugged, IP-rated FIEPOS field power
supplies are designed specifically for
decentralised electrical and electronic systems.
Supporting local control and optional IO-Link
communication, the units can be installed
directly in the field without an additional
enclosure and are available with IP54, IP65
and IP67 protection for reliable operation and
protection against ingress of dust and water.
By relocating the power supply from centralised
control cabinets to the field, machine builders
and system integrators benefit from reduced
enclosure size, lower internal heat dissipation
and greater freedom in system design. Field
power supplies can be mounted directly
on machines, walls or DIN rails, simplifying
installation and cabling. Decentralisation
also facilitates modular system expansion
and reconfiguration, reduces commissioning
effort and significantly simplifies maintenance.
In many applications, conventional control
cabinets can be downsized or eliminated
entirely.
A structured portfolio across three power
classes
The FIEPOS product family is clearly structured
into three power segments to meet diverse
application requirements:
ä Low power – The single-phase FPS100
and FPS200 deliver 94W and 200W,
respectively, at 24V DC, achieving an
efficiency of up to 95.1%. With IP65 and IP67
protection, continuous output ratings of
up to 200W, and NEC Class 2 or dual NEC
Class 2 compliance, these compact units are
optimised for harsh field environments and a
high level of safety protection. The FPS100
and FPS200 offer an exceptionally long
service life of more than 200,000 hours,
ensuring maximum reliability in low-power
decentralised applications.
ä Mid power – The mid-power range
comprises IP65 and IP67 field power
supplies with continuous output ratings
of 360W and 600W, available in both
single-phase and three-phase variants. With
efficiencies of up to 95.8%, these devices
are designed for reliable full-load operation
across a wide temperature range from -30°C
to +55°C. Short-term peak power capabilities
of up to 600W (FPS300/FPT300) or
1,000W (FPH500/FPT500), combined with
low inrush current, optional electronic fuse
variants and intelligent monitoring via IO-Link
or Output-OK interfaces, ensure safe,
efficient and connected power distribution
directly at field level.
ä High power – The latest additions to the
portfolio (available in Q4 2026), the IP65
and IP67 three-phase FPT1400, deliver
up to 1,400W from a 380-500V AC input.
Providing high-power 24V and 48V DC
outputs, these units integrate several
options such as IO-Link connectivity,
safety-relevant functions like Safe Torque
Off (STO), an integrated brake chopper,
up to four electronic fuses, advanced
branch protection, and up to two NEC
Class 2 outputs. The high-power models
combine exceptional performance with
intelligent protection, ensuring reliable
power distribution even under the harshest
industrial conditions.
PULS has expanded its FIEPOS field power
supply range, offering a comprehensive portfolio
from 94W to 1,400W. With high efficiency, robust
IP protection and advanced communication
and safety features, the decentralised power
supplies enable flexible, scalable and reliable
power distribution directly at field level.

beverage formats.
Together, these solutions help beverage brands
improve material recovery, reduce waste, and move
closer to closed-loop packaging systems.
Driving progress toward a circular beverage
economy
With its global footprint
and deep expertise in
beverage packaging, CCL
Labels is helping shape a
more sustainable future
for functional drinks –
where innovation in health
and wellness goes hand
in hand with responsible
packaging design.

VBG: The strong connection
For over 70 years, VBG has been at the forefront
of Coupling technology which has resulted in
the latest offering which may look familiar on the
outside but is completely new on the inside.
The latest generation of VBG couplings is a major
leap in innovation in the industrial segment in
which VBG operates. The combination of refined
mechanics and new digital technology further
increases safety and reliability, while also opening
doors for functions that will be offered soon.
Among other things, the mechanical
improvements have resulted in more compact
coupling dimensions. The power actuator, manual
handle and VBG’s valve box have also been made
smaller and more lightweight which creates better
options for different types of installation on trucks.
The products are now also easier to maintain,
which saves time and extends the service life.
VBG will continue to serve existing products
on the market by enabling upgrades to the
new generation of technology. In this way, new
functions can be added to today’s couplings,
which extends the product life cycle and adds
value to customers’ investments. VBG aims to
make everyday life in the road transport industry
safer and simpler.
But it is not just about Couplings that VBG are
renowned for as they are also leaders in their field
when it comes to Underrun protection systems.
In the event of a rear-end collision, the underrun
protection system prevents smaller vehicles
from becoming lodged underneath the truck or
trailer. To increase safety, it is an important and
integrated part of VBG’s coupling solutions.
VBG’s latest series of modular underrun
protection can be installed quickly and easily.
The systems are designed to occupy the smallest
possible area on a vehicle chassis and have a
surface finishing of the highest class. Thanks to
a wide range of endplates, arms, and protective
beams, the systems can be adapted to any
vehicle from popular manufacturers. All systems
and components are tested and certified in
accordance with UNECE R58 Revision 3.
VBG’s latest Innovative system is now able to
warn drivers of jackknifing whilst also providing
the opportunity for safe coupling through its
sensor based guiding system.
VBG Driver Assist alerts the driver when
reversing via audio signals from within the
cab, when the system detects that the vehicle
is at risk of jackknifing.

Future-proof DVS changes with Exeros
Following TfL’s latest DVS Progressive
Safe System (PSS) update, hauliers must
review their fleet technology to ensure
compliance, which Exeros said was a
focal talking point with visitors keen to
understand if further changes may be
made in the future.
Exeros explained that systems that alert
a driver only while in close proximity of
a vulnerable road user (VRU) will not
comply with TfL’s requirements. It said
the reasoning behind this is to reduce
unnecessary alarms to drivers. Therefore,
VRUs travelling parallel to a vehicle,
regardless of distance, should not trigger an
alert. Systems should only alert if there is a
predicted collision based on journey path.
AI trajectory prediction is therefore now
essential, added Exeros, which said its
system has passed rigorous independent
testing by Loughborough University for
the requirements set by it on behalf of TfL.
Exeros’s system incorporates VRU
trajectory prediction, which the company
said makes it an advanced, cost-effective
system that meets all requirements set. It
can also be updated with new algorithms
to future-proof itself against further DVS
changes.
Dave Ashford, director at customer KBC
Logistics, said of the system, “Exeros’s
DVS systems have given KBC complete
peace of mind from installation through to
the latest major TfL-specification update.”
“We are confident in our compliance and
trust Exeros to future-proof our systems
against any further changes.”

but they can be forgiven for not fully
understanding how to select a solution
that best fits their business model.
Chris Dalton, co-founder and CEO of
the midlands-based operational ERP
software developer jobmate, takes a
quick look at some of the key factors
which need to be considered, “In broad
terms, an ERP system should ensure
increased productivity by automating all
key business processes while providing
management insight, control and agility.”
“The system should embrace
reporting, IT requirements, accounting,
eCommerce, labour, purchasing, HR
and cost control, forecasting and job
planning. Most importantly, it should
be a Native-Cloud SaaS where the
operating system and data are in the
cloud, allowing them to be simply
integrated through APIs with other
software, plus fully cyber-secure by
being hosted in a reputable cloud
software service.”
in tight, high-risk environments like
schools and city streets, Reverse Smart
prevents accidents where pedestrians
might go unnoticed by drivers.
Manufactured in-house in the West
Midlands, the E11 Type Approved
system is customisable to meet
individual customer needs.

“So, if now is the time to select an
efficient operational ERP system for
your business, invest plenty of time
in researching the market. Remember
to look for native cloud systems that
match or simply customise your way
of working through integrations or
customisation.”

Telematics
shaped
by realworld
fleet
operations
For road haulage and logistics operators, this
visibility supports better route planning, more
reliable delivery times and clearer communication
with customers. Journey and mileage reporting help
identify underutilised vehicles, reduce unnecessary
mileage and support accurate job costing or billing.
How do you keep vehicles moving, costs under
control and customers satisfied? You need to
understand how assets are being used, how driver
behaviour affects risk and operating costs, and where
efficiencies can be gained across your business
without adding complexity. These are the practical
realities Quartix has been helping fleet operators
address for more than 24 years.
Founded in 2001, Quartix is one of the most
established vehicle telematics providers, supporting
fleets across road haulage, logistics, recovery, leasing
and a wide range of site-based services. More than
800,000 vehicles are currently tracked worldwide
using Quartix systems, reflecting steady growth built
on long-term customer relationships rather than shortterm
market trends.
This approach has been recognised by the industry.
Heading into 2026, Quartix has been named
Telematics Award Winner at the WhatVan? Awards,
acknowledging its contribution to improving vehicle
safety, security and operational efficiency for Light
Commercial Vehicle fleets. In addition, Quartix was
voted Fleet Recommended Telematics Supplier
2026 by Fleet News readers for the second year
running. This recognition is based on direct feedback
from fleet professionals responsible for specifying and
managing telematics systems.
For fleet operators and decision-makers, these awards
provide independent confirmation that the technology
performs reliably in everyday use, reinforcing Quartix’s
position as a stable supplier with a proven track record
in demanding commercial fleet environments.
Practical technology for operational fleets
Quartix provides vehicle tracking and fleet
management software designed to give clear
operational oversight across your fleet. You can
see where vehicles are in real time, review historical
journeys and respond quickly to changes in schedules
or customer demand.
Driver behaviour data provides insight into speeding, harsh
braking and idling, allowing safety and fuel consumption
to be addressed in a consistent, evidence-based way. For
haulage and recovery operations, where operating risk and
insurance exposure are higher, this information supports
driver coaching, incident review and risk reduction.
Improving safety with video and vehicle checks
Quartix’s connected dashcam solutions add valuable
context to vehicle tracking data, providing video
evidence when incidents occur. Forward-facing and
driver-facing cameras help clarify the circumstances
around collisions, near misses or disputed events,
reducing investigation time and supporting fair
outcomes for both drivers and operators. Many fleets
use video evidence to resolve insurance claims more
quickly and reduce the cost and duration of disputes.
Quartix also offers a vehicle safety checks app,
Quartix Check, enabling drivers to complete daily
walkaround checks digitally. Inspections can be
submitted in real time, defects identified quickly and
checks carried out consistently, supporting compliance
and helping maintenance teams prioritise issues
before they lead to downtime, accidents or penalties.
Supporting asset management, maintenance
and integration
Quartix helps plan vehicle maintenance more
effectively by linking usage, mileage and safety check
data to service schedules. This reduces the risk of
missed services, unplanned downtime and avoidable
repairs, while supporting longer vehicle life.
For those responsible for workshops, leased vehicles
or mixed fleets, access to accurate usage data allows
maintenance activity to be aligned with actual vehicle
use rather than estimates. This improves planning,
protects asset value and supports more efficient
workshop operations.
Quartix also integrates with third-party systems to
reduce duplication and enhance system capability.
Integrations with systems such as Haulage Exchange
allow vehicle location data to support job allocation and
freight workflows, helping transport planners and logistics
teams match available vehicles to work more efficiently.
Designed for everyday use
Quartix is designed for busy business owners, transport
managers, operations teams and engineers. The
system is straightforward to use, without unnecessary
complexity or a steep learning curve, and reporting can
be configured to suit operational requirements.
Commercial terms are kept simple. Clear pricing and
transparent contracts allow costs to be planned with
confidence, a crucial factor when operating on tight
margins or managing long-term fleet replacement and
leasing cycles. Importantly, Quartix contracts never autorenew,
so businesses are never unexpectedly locked in.
Experience that supports long-term decisions
With more than two decades in the market, Quartix’s
experience reduces risk when selecting a technology
partner and embedding telematics into day-today
operations. As fleet data becomes central to
productivity, compliance and risk management,
Quartix delivers telematics solutions shaped by
real-world fleet operations.
