A young man, Jared

asked an old rich

man, Robert how he

made his money.

Robert fingered his

worsted wool vest

my last nickel.

“I invested that nickel

in an apple. I spent

the entire day polishing

the apple and, at

the end of the day, I

sold the apple for ten

cents, Robert continued.

spent the entire day

polishing them and

sold them at 5:00 pm

for 20 cents. I continued

this system for a

month, by the end of

which I’d accumulated

a fortune of $1.37.”

“And that’s how you

built an empire?” Jared

asked.

“Heavens, no!” Robert

replied. “Then my

wife’s father died and

left us two million

dollars.”

Three elderly sisters,

ages 92, 94 and

96, shared a house

together. One evening,

the 96 year old sister

went upstairs to take

a bath. As she put her

foot into the tub, she

paused. Then she

yelled down to the

other two sisters and

asked, “Was I getting

in the tub or out?”

“You dern fool,” said

the 94 year old. “I’ll

way up the stairs she

The 92 year old sister

My five year old son

squealed with delight

when he opened his

birthday present from

his grandmother. It

was a water pistol. He

promptly ran to the sink

to fill it.

“Mom,” I said. “I’m

surprised at you. Don’t

you remember how we

used to drive you crazy

with water pistols?”

My mom smiled and

said, “Yes, I remember.”

My entire life can be summed up in one sentence: Well, that didn’t go as planned.
