Fire & Security
Smarter safety, simplified: Fircroft Technologies’
ASYRA Wireless Lockdown Alarm System
ith more than 30 years of expertise in fire and
Wsafety signalling, Fircroft Technologies Ltd has
established itself as a UK leader in the design and
manufacture of audible and visual alarm systems.
Based in South Wales, the company delivers both its
own branded solutions and bespoke OEM designs,
combining innovation, reliability, and sustainability in
every product it produces.
In a world where safety demands
are evolving faster than ever,
Fircroft Technologies is
meeting the challenge headon
with a new generation of
wireless alarm solutions.
At the heart of Fircroft’s
reputation is its commitment
to technical excellence. Its
products are designed and
manufactured to the highest
standards, with many certified
to EN54 specifications for fire
safety. Their flagship innovation, the
ASYRA Wireless System, demonstrates
this expertise in action – a dual-channel,
high-integrity wireless alarm platform that provides
dedicated lockdown, fire, and industrial safety
solutions without the need for cabling or expensive
control panels. The ASYRA Wireless System, is
setting new standards for lockdown and emergency
alert applications for construction sites and
temporary buildings.
Dedicated Lockdown Security –
Without the complexity
At the heart of Fircroft’s current focus is the
Lockdown Alarm version of the ASYRA Wireless
System – a dedicated solution purpose-built for
rapid, secure lockdown signalling. Unlike systems
that rely on existing infrastructure, ASYRA operates
as a standalone network, making it fully resilient,
hacker-proof, and independent from other building
systems. Its wireless design means there’s no
need for cabling, enabling installation over a single
weekend – a huge advantage for live sites such as
schools or operational facilities where disruption
must be minimised. The result is a reliable, easy-todeploy
system that enhances on-site safety without
compromise.
Performance and sustainability hand in hand
ASYRA’s high-output signalling technology allows
large areas to be covered with fewer devices,
cutting material use and reducing
environmental impact. Systems can
scale from just two devices to 254
units, with coverage spanning up
to 2km in diameter – ideal for
large campuses, multibuilding
sites, and
open construction
environments.
Seamlessly
linking
systems
together can
provide even
larger system
solutions.
Powered by standard AA and
CR123 batteries with lifespans
of up to four years, the system is
operated by using a mobile phone app
allowing for easy detailed reporting and
routine status monitoring. This streamlined
approach delivers significant savings in both cost
and maintenance, without sacrificing reliability or
system integrity.
Monitoring, integration and control made simple
ASYRA’s extensive fault monitoring ensures
continuous system oversight, offering real-time
reassurance that your network is always fully
operational. Thanks to universal I/O modules, the
system can be easily integrated with existing fire
or security systems if required – providing flexible
options for both standalone and hybrid applications.
For even greater convenience, the ASYRA Android
App allows users to check system status and review
event logs directly from a smartphone, eliminating
the need for expensive control panels and offering a
user-friendly interface for maintenance teams.
A complete wireless safety platform
The full ASYRA Wireless product range includes
Manual Call Points, Detectors, I/O and Fault Modules,
Sounders, and Visual Alarm Devices (VADs) – all
designed to work seamlessly together within one
cohesive system. Beyond lockdown protection,
ASYRA also supports emergency and medical alert
functions, ensuring rapid communication in any
critical situation.
Partnering for safer sites
Fircroft Technologies understands that every site
is different. That’s why they encourage customers
to discuss their specific requirements directly –
whether for a full turnkey installation or a project
managed through an approved local contractor.
Fircroft’s team provides full technical
support, ensuring the same high
standards of reliability and
performance regardless of
who installs the system.
By combining British
manufacturing quality,
cutting-edge wireless
technology, and decades
of specialist expertise,
Fircroft Technologies
continues to set new
standards in safety system
design – making workplaces,
schools, and public spaces safer,
smarter, and more sustainable.

Heating & Cooling Systems Company of Choice
How ESS is
transforming
commercial heating
and cooling
n this issue of Industrial Solutions, we are pleased
Ito feature ESS Air Con as our Heating & Cooling
Systems Company of Choice.
Established in 2000, ESS has evolved from a specialist
HVAC distributor into the UK’s leading supplier of
commercial heat pump systems. Partnering with global
brands such as Samsung and Panasonic, alongside
innovative manufacturers including Maxa and Volta,
ESS delivers tailored, high-performance solutions
to meet the complex needs of modern commercial
environments.
The demand for heat pumps across commercial and
industrial sectors continues to accelerate, driven by
the global push toward decarbonisation and net zero
targets. In both the UK and Europe, government policy
and corporate sustainability commitments are reshaping
the heating landscape. As organisations transition
away from gas and other fossil-fuel systems, ESS
stands at the forefront – providing efficient, low-carbon
alternatives that enable businesses to reduce emissions,
cut operating costs, and future-proof their operations.
Over recent months, ESS has intensified its focus
on deploying large-scale heat pump systems for
commercial and industrial properties – including
offices, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities.
With a deep understanding of the operational
demands and environmental challenges unique
to these sectors, ESS helps organisations enhance
building energy performance and transition seamlessly
to low-carbon heat pump technology. In doing so,
the company enables clients to cut energy costs,
improve efficiency, and meet their ESG and
sustainability commitments.
In the industrial and logistics sectors, the shift is already
underway. Businesses operating low-temperature
industrial processes, distribution centres, and temperaturecontrolled
warehouses are increasingly investing in large
heat pump systems – achieving measurable gains in
energy efficiency, long-term cost reduction, and carbon
footprint reduction.
Maxa Heat Pumps represent one of ESS’s most
recent strategic partnerships, bringing cutting-edge
heating and cooling technology from Italy to the UK.
Manufactured by the Ferroli Group, Maxa products
are imported and distributed across the UK, offering
industrial, commercial, and residential clients highperformance
climate control solutions.
Founded in 1992 by Luciano Tredicesimo Ferroli,
the company has grown into one of Italy’s top five
heat pump manufacturers and a leading player in
the domestic air conditioning sector. Today, Maxa
is recognised globally for its expertise in residential,
commercial, and industrial air conditioning solutions.
At the core of Maxa’s mission are environmental
comfort, sustainable growth, and ecological
responsibility. These values underpin every stage of
their design and production processes, ensuring that
each system delivers efficiency, reliability, and longterm
value.
Maxa’s versatile portfolio of heating and cooling
solutions can be applied across a wide range of
environments – from domestic homes and commercial
offices to public facilities – whether for new-build
projects or retrofits. With a comprehensive selection
of heat pumps, Maxa provides reliable, adaptable
solutions tailored to every installation requirement.
Through ESS, these advanced systems can be supplied
and installed wherever high-quality climate control
is needed – from cold, temperate environments to
tropical conditions – ensuring environmental comfort
and human wellbeing wherever they are deployed.
ESS is also recognised for its deep expertise and
extensive product knowledge across a wide range of
air source heat pumps and air conditioning systems.
Companies looking to transition to advanced heating
and cooling solutions often face the challenge of
sourcing skilled installers and maintenance engineers.
ESS recognises that integrating new systems into
commercial buildings – particularly older properties
– can be complex. That’s why the company invests
heavily in customer support and comprehensive
training programs.
A key challenge across the industry is the shortage
of qualified installers and technical expertise. ESS
addresses this through its ongoing installer training
programs for heat pumps, equipping professionals
with the skills needed to optimise system performance.
By partnering with businesses, ESS ensures that
organisations get the maximum efficiency and reliability
from their heating and air conditioning systems.
Its highly skilled technical team supports both complex
industrial installations and standard commercial
applications, ensuring businesses benefit from seamless
access to the latest high-performance, energy-efficient
technologies. Through strong partnerships with leading
brands such as Maxa, ESS consistently delivers cuttingedge
solutions to the UK market.
Beyond supply, ESS provides end-to-end support,
including pre-sales consultations, expert system
design guidance, comprehensive after-sales technical
assistance, and some of the industry’s most respected
ongoing training programs. With a strong commitment
to low-carbon and eco-friendly solutions, ESS is
helping businesses – one heat pump at a time –
to achieve and exceed their net zero and
ESG objectives.

Games’ new warehouse near Brentwood. The integrated
system is now operational, handling the company’s
extensive range of tabletop gaming products, including
Games Workshop, Warcradle, and Lego merchandise.
Proven results drive Phase 2 expansion
“Phase 1 has delivered exactly the business impact we
needed for our expansion,” said Richard Lawford, MD
& Founder of Wayland Games. “We’re processing
significantly more orders with the same team size, and
our customers are seeing faster dispatch times during
peak periods. What sets Autrix apart is their genuine

Flow Measurement
Katronic: Ultrasonic flow
measurement specialists
Katronic was contacted by a Water
treatment works to verify the flow
conditions within a single pipeline. The
client requested this service due to the
uncertainty of the reliability of the flow
readings that were reported from their
internal measurement system. The lack of
certainty was hindering daily operations,
and one potential solution was to shut
down operations temporarily in order to
install an in-line reference meter.
Rather than do this, they reached out to
Katronic. Katronic’s ultrasonic technology
offers a cost-effective, non-invasive solution.
Our engineer attended the customer’s
site to complete the measurement service.
The purpose of the visit was to provide
accurate, traceable flow verification
data for operational reference.
Once on-site, armed with the portable
KATflow 210, our engineer completed a
successful set-up within minutes. The built-in
set-up wizard ensures accurate placement
of sensors by entering the external pipe
diameter, wall thickness and temperature.
The set-up wizard calculates and instructs
the recommended spacing for optimal
performance. The diagnostic indicators
remained stable, confirming consistent
signal quality and validating the accuracy of
the setup. Making the KATflow 210 a userfriendly,
reliable and accurate measurement
solution. The enhanced battery performance
of the KATflow 210, using saver mode,
measurements were logged at a 1-second
interval, the unit could be stand-alone on-site
for the 24 hours required by the customer.
Returning to the site the following day, it
was found strong and stable signal was
maintained throughout the measurement
period. The recorded flowrate values
provided a good indication of expected
performance. On average, the flowrate was
observed at approximately 430L/s, later
increasing to around 520L/s. The recorded
ranges were within the expected flowrates
for the site. Each flowrate change persisted
for several minutes, with measurements
taken every second, demonstrating steady
and dependable performance from the
flowmeter. Comparing the data to the
customer’s internal measurement system
showed that the accuracy of the internal
system was off by 2%. This difference
was deemed to be within the range of
compliance accepted by the customer,
resulting in no further investigative action
being taken.
Katronics’ non-invasive technology,
coupled with its highly skilled team of
experts, resulted in accurate, reliable, and
instantaneous flow measurements. Without
the need to halt or hinder daily operations.

Business Crisis Management
Business Resilience isn’t optional anymore
n an era defined by volatility, disruption has
Ibecome a constant rather than an exception.
From cyber incidents and supply chain breakdowns
to reputational crises and extreme weather events,
organisations across every sector are being tested in
ways that demand far more than reactive decisionmaking.
The ability to anticipate disruption, respond
decisively, and recover effectively has become a
defining characteristic of successful businesses. This
is where SDH Crisis Management plays a critical
role, helping organisations move beyond theoretical
planning and towards genuine operational resilience.
SDH Crisis Management is built on the understanding
that resilience is not a single plan or document, but
a capability that must be embedded throughout an
organisation. Too often, crisis and continuity plans
exist purely to satisfy compliance requirements,
lacking real-world relevance when an incident
unfolds. SDH challenges this approach by working
closely with leadership teams to ensure that resilience
strategies are practical, proportionate, and aligned
with the realities of how organisations operate. The
result is preparedness that can be relied upon when
pressure is at its highest.
Central to SDH’s work is the integration of crisis
management and business continuity. While distinct
disciplines, both are essential to navigating disruption
successfully. Crisis management focuses on responding
to high-impact events that threaten people, operations,
or reputation, often under intense time pressure
and scrutiny. Business continuity ensures that critical
activities can continue, or be rapidly restored, even as
disruption unfolds. SDH’s methodology recognises that
these functions cannot operate in isolation. Instead,
they must complement one another, forming a cohesive
framework that supports decision-making before,
during, and after an incident.
A key strength of SDH’s approach lies in its emphasis
on understanding risk in context. Rather than relying
on generic risk registers, SDH conducts structured
assessments that examine how threats intersect with
an organisation’s specific objectives, dependencies,
and operational realities. Through detailed business
impact analysis, organisations gain clarity on which
functions are truly critical, how long they can tolerate
disruption, and where vulnerabilities exist across
supply chains, technology, people, and facilities. This
clarity allows leaders to prioritise resources effectively
and focus attention where it matters most.
When incidents do occur, SDH provides hands-on
support to organisations navigating the early stages
of disruption. In moments where time is limited and
information is incomplete, experienced guidance
can be invaluable. SDH supports leadership teams
by helping to structure decision-making, manage
information flow, and maintain focus on priorities
such as safety, operational stability, and stakeholder
confidence. This practical involvement helps
organisations stabilise situations more quickly and
reduces the risk of secondary impacts caused by
confusion or miscommunication.
Recovery is treated not as an afterthought, but as an
essential phase of resilience. SDH’s work extends
beyond restoring operations to pre-incident levels,
focusing instead on learning and improvement.
Every disruption presents an opportunity to strengthen
systems, refine plans, and address weaknesses that
may not have been visible before. By supporting
organisations through structured post-incident reviews
and recovery planning, SDH helps ensure that lessons
are captured and embedded, rather than forgotten
once immediate pressures subside.
What’s more, standards and frameworks play
an important role in this process, particularly for
organisations operating in regulated environments.
SDH supports clients in aligning with recognised bestpractice
standards such as ISO 22301 for business
continuity management. This not only enhances
operational robustness but also demonstrates
assurance to regulators, customers, and partners.
Beyond formal certification, SDH promotes broader
principles of organisational resilience, recognising
that leadership, culture, and adaptability are just as
important as documented procedures.
What ultimately distinguishes SDH Crisis
Management is its partnership-driven approach.
Rather than delivering off-the-shelf solutions, SDH
works collaboratively with organisations to develop
strategies that reflect their size, sector, and risk
appetite. This tailored approach ensures that
resilience measures are realistic and sustainable,
embedding preparedness into everyday decisionmaking
rather than treating it as a separate or
occasional activity.

Acoustic Wall & Ceiling Products Company of Choice
Delivering design
integrity: Inside
LSA Projects’
continued growth
n this issue of Industrial Solutions, we are pleased to
Ifeature LSA Projects as our Acoustic Wall & Ceiling
Products Company of Choice.
Founded in 1994 by father-and-son team Leslie and
Sean Smyth, LSA Projects has grown from modest
beginnings in the sanitaryware and locker sector into
a respected specialist in architectural interior solutions.
In its early years, the business focused on supplying
nappy-changing units, lockers, and cubicle systems
across the UK and Ireland. A pivotal partnership with
German manufacturer Geschwender then helped expand
its offering, marking the beginning of its transition from
end-user supply to working closely with architects and
specifiers. This evolution continued in 2001 when LSA
entered the architectural interiors market, forming a longstanding
exclusive partnership with Gustafs for acoustic
wall and ceiling systems, and later adding brands such
as Durlum and Oranit to broaden its portfolio.
Today, LSA Projects operates from its headquarters in
Witham, Essex, based in a converted listed barn that
has housed the company since the late 1990s. The
space has evolved alongside the business, reflecting
its steady growth while maintaining the close-knit,
collaborative culture of a family-run company. Keeping
the entire team under one roof remains central to its
identity and way of working.
At its core, LSA acts as a vital link between leading
European manufacturers and clients across the UK
and Ireland. Serving as the sole UK supplier for several
key partners, the company offers a fully integrated
service – from initial technical consultation and design
development through to project management, delivery,
installation support, and aftercare. Its in-house project
managers ensure that each scheme is handled with
precision, tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs
of architects, contractors, and end users alike.
LSA’s expertise spans a wide range of sectors, including
education, transport, leisure, and high-end commercial
environments. Whether delivering durable locker systems
for high-traffic leisure facilities or bespoke acoustic timber
and metal ceiling solutions for contemporary architectural
spaces, the company combines technical knowledge with a
hands-on approach. This ability to bridge the gap between
design intent and practical delivery has positioned
LSA Projects as a trusted partner within the industry.
Architects are one of LSA’s core customer groups,
drawn to products recognised across the industry
for their reliability, sustainability, and the robust
certifications that support these claims. This expertise is
exemplified in one of the company’s flagship projects,
8 Bishopsgate, where LSA contributed to a development
that has since received multiple awards for its innovative
design and outstanding sustainability performance –
highlighting the practical impact of its solutions in
high-profile, environmentally conscious architecture.
“That being said, the majority of the work we do is with
contractors who are responsible for purchasing and
installing our products,” said Rebecca Warder-Steel,
Technical Sales Manager. “Our sales approach has to
cater to both audiences in the same way our products
do. This is reflected in the transparency and depth of
our online presence and sales literature, as well as the
technical and design support we provide directly.
“Our tagline has always been ‘The best of Europe,
by design’, and that still holds true today. We have
worked hard to build and maintain strong relationships
with our suppliers, enabling us to deliver the highestquality
materials and service to our customers. The
relationship works both ways – while we benefit
from their extensive product ranges, we also provide
valuable feedback based on real-world application
to support ongoing product development.”
One of LSA’s most recent suppliers, Gustafs, has
launched a new product range for 2026, featuring
an installation system that allows multiple product
styles to be integrated within a single grid system.
“This creates scope for highly versatile ceiling
systems that can incorporate flat and linear timber
designs, as well as high-performance acoustic baffles
and integrated lighting,” Rebecca added. “We’re
particularly excited about this rollout, especially
alongside their new range of veneers and timber
finishes, which offer greater choice in tone, texture,
and colour within the standard range – options that
were previously only available as bespoke.”
Further recent developments at the company reflect a
continued commitment to growth and collaboration. Subject
to planning permission, there are plans to break ground
this year on an office expansion, extending the top floor to
accommodate a growing team. The new space will also
include a dedicated meeting room suite designed to better
host visitors and support conference calls, enhancing both
internal operations and client engagement.
Looking ahead, the company remains focused on
strengthening partnerships and delivering cohesive
project outcomes. A key goal each year is to involve
all suppliers in a single project, encouraging a unified
approach that keeps the entire team motivated while
ensuring a seamless and efficient material supply
process for customers. This strategy has consistently
contributed to high levels of client satisfaction.
Sustainability continues to sit at the heart of
operations. The team takes pride in the increasing
number of projects centred on demounting and reusing
panel systems. With a lifespan exceeding 30 years,
these systems are ideally suited to regeneration work.
A recent London project demonstrated this approach,
where a 20-year-old ceiling was carefully dismantled
and repurposed into a modern floating raft design –
supporting a circular approach to construction while
reducing costs, waste, and environmental impact.

Commercial & Heavy Vehicle Repairs
Keeping commercial fleets moving:
Why specialist vehicle repair matters
In the construction and infrastructure
sectors, vehicle reliability is more than a
convenience – it is a vital part of keeping
projects on schedule and teams productive.
From light commercial vans transporting tools
to heavy vehicles supporting site operations,
fleet downtime can quickly lead to lost time,
missed deadlines, and increased costs.
That is why specialist commercial vehicle
repair services are becoming increasingly
important for businesses that rely on their
fleets every day.
Unlike standard vehicle repair, commercial
fleet maintenance requires a deeper
understanding of how vehicles are used
in demanding environments. Construction
vehicles are often subjected to harsher
conditions, heavier loads, and longer
operating hours than typical road vehicles.
Over time, this puts extra strain on bodywork,
mechanical components, and safety systems.
When damage or wear occurs, quick
and effective repair is essential. Delays in
returning vehicles to service can disrupt
logistics, slow site operations, and impact
overall project efficiency.
This is where experienced commercial
repair providers make a real difference.
By specialising in commercial vehicles,
repair experts can offer faster turnaround
times, precise assessments, and high-quality
repairs, ensuring vehicles are restored to safe
operating condition as swiftly as possible.
At The Spectrum VR Group, the focus is on
helping businesses minimise downtime and
keep their fleets operational. With extensive
experience in commercial vehicle repair, the
company works with fleet operators across
multiple sectors, including construction,
logistics, and infrastructure.

Waste & Dust Extraction
Paramount bespoke Mini-System finds the
perfect solution to waste packaging removal
aramount bespoke Mini-
PSystem provides a perfect
solution to waste packaging
removal from new automated
automotive assembly line.
Originally designed for small
printing companies collecting
trimmed waste from guillotines
the Paramount Mini-System has
also been purchased to support larger paper
and card handling companies offering vital
emergency support for critical operations should
a large, central waste system be out of action.
Three basic principles offer a range of solutions
to suit a variety of situations depending on
waste size and volume and conveying distance.
Blower fan,
simplest solution
for small parts,
design of
pickup and
ducting critical
to ensure
conveying
speed
calculated
correctly.
Venturi system fan, simplest
solution for continuous trim,
fan and running costs typically
larger than blower fan solution.
Chopper fan, for larger
products which require size
reduction to aid conveying,
used as a last option as
chopping action will induce
dust which may require filtration.
The system demonstrated includes a blower fan
with ducting to a hopper. Waste product drops
onto the conveyor from three separate stations
and feeds towards the hopper. The waste falls
into the hopper and a high velocity jet of air,
created by an adjustable nozzle, drives the
waste to a dissipater over a bin. Air volume
and velocity are calculated accurately to ensure
the process is effective and efficient. Calculating
the correct motor size ensures power
consumption is no greater than it has to be.

Katronic: Ultrasonic flow measurement specialists
atronic was contacted by a Water treatment
Kworks to verify the flow conditions within a
single pipeline. The client requested this service
due to the uncertainty of the reliability of the flow
readings that were reported from their internal
measurement system. The lack of certainty was
hindering daily operations, and one potential
solution was to shut down operations temporarily
in order to install an in-line reference meter.
Rather than do this, they reached out to
Katronic. Katronic’s ultrasonic technology offers
a cost-effective, non-invasive solution. Our
engineer attended the customer’s site to complete
the measurement service. The purpose of the
visit was to provide accurate, traceable flow
verification data for operational reference.
Once on-site, armed with the portable KATflow
210, our engineer
completed a successful
set-up within minutes.
The built-in set-up
wizard ensures accurate
placement of sensors by
entering the external pipe
diameter, wall thickness
and temperature. The
set-up wizard calculates
and instructs the
recommended spacing
for optimal performance.
The diagnostic indicators
remained stable,
confirming consistent signal
quality and validating
the accuracy of the setup. Making the KATflow
210 a user-friendly, reliable and accurate
measurement solution. The enhanced battery
performance of the KATflow 210, using saver
mode, measurements were logged at a 1-second
interval, the unit could be stand-alone on-site for
the 24 hours required by the customer.
Returning to the site the following day, it was
found strong and stable signal was maintained
throughout the measurement period. The
recorded flowrate values provided a good
indication of expected performance.
On average, the flowrate was observed at
approximately 430L/s, later increasing to around
520L/s. The recorded ranges were within the
expected flowrates for the site. Each flowrate change
persisted for several minutes, with measurements
taken every second,
demonstrating steady and
dependable performance from
the flowmeter. Comparing
the data to the customer’s
internal measurement system
showed that the accuracy of
the internal system was off
by 2%. This difference was
deemed to be within the range
of compliance accepted by
the customer, resulting in no
further investigative action
being taken.

Sustainable off-grid power
is no longer a trade-off
cross construction, infrastructure and
Atemporary works, the expectations placed on
site power have shifted. Cost remains critical, but
so do noise constraints, emissions targets, ESG
reporting requirements and the practical reality
that many locations simply do not suit constant
generator running. In that context, the conversation
is moving from ‘how do we power this site?’ to
‘how do we power it efficiently, quietly and with
provable outcomes?’
Hybridisation is the clearest step-change. By
combining solar generation, lithium battery
storage and an intelligent backup generator in one
integrated system, modern hybrid power reduces
fuel burn without compromising uptime. The key
point is operational control: when the system is
genuinely ‘solar-first’ and demand-matched, the
generator becomes an occasional support asset
rather than a 24/7 necessity. The result is fewer
refuelling visits, reduced maintenance exposure,
lower noise and immediate cost impact.
At SolGen, the focus has been on building a
mobile, off-grid solution that maximises renewable
contribution in real conditions, not only in
idealised demonstrations. Our ‘Sunflower’ tracking
approach is designed to harvest more energy than
fixed arrays by automatically optimising panel
pitch and direction as the sun angle changes, with
bifacial technology to further increase capture. In
practical terms, this can materially increase solar
yield compared with static systems, and that yield
Hybrid Technology
directly translates into reduced generator runtime
and fuel consumption.
For many sites, the economics are now difficult
to ignore. When this power system can cut
fuel costs by up to £1,000 per week versus a
traditional diesel generator setup, while also
enabling substantial carbon reduction, hybrid
power becomes a commercial decision as much
as a sustainability one. SolGen systems are built to
generate the reporting that procurement teams and
ESG leads increasingly need: remote monitoring,
real-time and historical performance data, fuel and
CO 2
saving outputs, and exportable reporting for
audits and sustainability submissions.
The direction of travel is clear. Sites that adopt
intelligent hybrid power early are not only
reducing emissions; they are stabilising operating
costs, improving working conditions, and de-risking
compliance. The future of temporary off-grid power
will be defined by systems that deliver measurable
outcomes, automatically, day after day.

Recycled plastic educational furniture
maintenance-free outdoor classroom products
sing Recycled Plastic Wood and Recycled Mixed
UPlastic Lumber collected from UK Homes and
Businesses – Eco friendly and Sustainable
Recycled plastic lumber or recycled plastic
wood, is made from taking your waste plastic and
processing it for reuse. 66% less energy is needed
than is required in production of virgin plastic, and it
releases a whopping 250% less carbon dioxide.
We turn this recycled plastic into aesthetically
pleasing, useful products, for the general public,
construction companies, local authorities, educational
institutions and hospitals all over the world.
All our products are recycled as well as being
recyclable.
This is the ideal of recycling. It’s a closed loop.
All the plastic products we use as consumers should
be capable of recycling indefinitely making for a
sustainable future for our children and a cleaner less
toxic environment.
In some cases we also reuse rather than recycle.
For example, we have a Recycled Plastic
Compost Tumbler/Compost Bin – appropriately
named, ‘The Compost Creator.’ For this we reuse
a food grade plastic drum previously used to transport
food products.
Reuse is vastly superior to simply recycling
There is no significant consumption of energy, as there
is no manufacturing process involving heavy use of
energy. We just drill a few holes in the
drum and clean it up as best we can.
Both recycling plastic as well as
reusing it keeps large amounts of plastic waste out of
expensive and now difficult to find landfill.
This results in a lower carbon footprint and reduced
human contribution to global warming and climate
change.
Recycled Mixed Plastic Lumber, recycled HDPE and
recycled polystyrene (which is the primary waste
plastic in our recycled plastic wood or recycled plastic
timber) are what we make all our products out of.
These, often brightly coloured, Recycled plastic
products are extremely durable and attractive.
They will maintain their appearance for many years
to come.
Our highly acclaimed Compost Tumbler, or
Compost Bin, Raised Beds, Garden Planters,
2 and 3 Seater Garden Benches, Sports
Benches, Play Dens, and other Outdoor
Classroom products are not flimsy and light, but
robust and solid enough not to blow away in a gale.

High-quality airtightness products at
unbeatable prices
ynergie is a wholesale distribution company,

industry. With over 30 years of experience operating
in the construction sector, Synergie have built a
reputation for top quality products, attention to
detail and impressive customer service.
or solvents in construction or installation. This
sustainability also extends to the overall buildings
CO 2
emissions, as increased airtightness in
buildings helps to lower energy usage and
supports the building in attaining good Building
Energy Rating (BER).
The company offers a comprehensive range of wind
tightness membranes, airtight membranes, airtight tapes,
sealants and other products for achieving optimum
rain tightness, wind tightness and airtightness results.
All its products are manufactured in Germany to the
highest standards by manufacturers with over 20 years
of experience in the development of breathable roofing
membranes, airtightness membranes, airtightness
window and connection tape, adhesives and primer.
Especially celebrated is the company’s Synergie Sd
Variable Airtightness Membrane and Vapour Control
Layer. This product has the ability to change its water
vapour performance (SD value). The membrane
becomes more diffusion open depending on the
relative humidity (RH) in the area. In the colder,
winter months, the micropores of the membrane stay
diffusion tight, preventing vapour from the warm
interior of the building diffusing into the timber roof
or wall structure, or insulated layer. However, in the
summer months, the micropores of the membrane
open, allowing any vapour or moisture trapped in the
insulated material to escape back into the building
interior and ventilate naturally. In the long run, over
a few years, this ability to act as a barrier in winter
and a breathable membrane in summer, helps to
protect the building from structural damage caused
by excessive moisture trapped in the building fabric.
The Synergie Sd Variable membrane is ideally
suited to flat roof make-ups which are not adequately
ventilated or diffusion tight towards the outside.
The Sd Variable membrane is also suitable in new
buildings where excessive moisture accumulation has
occurred during the initial construction phase of the
building process where timber elements and thermal
insulation have suffered an unplanned wetting.
The Synergie airtightness system carries several
benefits for clients. Firstly the removal of draughts
helps to cut heating bills, prevents condensation and
protects and improves the performance of thermal
insulation. The effective use of Synergie products
also helps to protect against mould development and
allows ventilation systems to work more efficiently.
Synergie’s airtightness products are also
environmentally friendly. Using no harmful toxins
With these products being used extensively in both
residential and commercial construction projects,
the company carries a large range to cater for all
possible scenarios on a building project in traditional
masonry construction, timber frame construction,
steel frame construction and modular build.
Building companies of all sizes use Synergie to
achieve national building code standards and to
build energy efficient and passive buildings to the
highest of standards. All Synergie’s products are
built in line with European harmonised standards for
energy saving; as well as carry CE Markings, where
required, under the Construction Products Regulation.
Beyond providing the highest quality products,
certified across Europe; Synergie has also garnered
a reputation for impeccable customer service. Its
long tenure in the industry means the company has
a wealth of experience with a variety of different
products and the projects they could be used in.
Utilising this bank of knowledge allows Syngerie to
offer bespoke advice to clients and point them in the
right direction when it comes to airtightness.

Service Sealing Solutions Ltd –
suppliers of DOYMA products
Service Sealing Solutions Ltd are the sole UK distributor of DOYMA
products. Wherever services are installed through walls, ceilings or
floors, penetrating water may cause damage to buildings. Lack of
attention to the points of entry of pipes and cables into the building
can have serious results: damp cellars, equipment damaged by
water ingress and high repair costs. Service sealing systems ensure
professional and perfect pipe sealing, thus presenting excellent
preventative measures against structural damage. The very best in
German engineering is used to seal penetration points to the wall
to permanently prevent any infiltration of gases and water into the
building, and the duct sealing systems are guaranteed for 25 years.
Service Sealing Solutions supply the full range of products to suit all
situations for power cables, communication cables, pipes and ducts,
and specialising in sealing district heating pipes.

Company of Choice
How SWIFIX and Support
for Success are shaping
the future of EWI
n an industry often dominated by tradition,
ISWIFIX and Support for Success – both
spearheaded by entrepreneur and visionary Paul
Brown MCGI MIoL – stand out as two very bold
but complementary ventures.
SWIFIX, having redefined best practice in externalwall
insulation (EWI) fixings, has over the past year
seen explosive growth; repeated recognition and
technical accreditation have underlined its status as
a go-to supplier for retrofit, new-build and modular
housing projects alike. Meanwhile, Support for
Success has quietly laid the groundwork for a
different kind of impact: equipping the workforce
with the skills needed to deliver sustainable, energyefficient
homes in a period when both regulation
and public demand increasingly focus on carbon
reduction and thermal performance.
As 2025 draws to a close, the twin ambitions of
product innovation and workforce empowerment
offer a compelling glimpse of what a socially
conscious, future-facing building industry might –
and must – become.
We caught up with Paul, who explained how 2025
was for SWIFIX, “We’ve experienced strong growth
and continued recognition within the external wall
insulation industry, driven by our commitment to
innovation, compliance, and quality. Our products
have played a key role in supporting safe, robust,
and regulation ready EWI installations across
the UK, and our relationships with installers have
strengthened significantly. This year has also been
about highlighting our position as a trusted brand,
supporting training initiatives, contributing to best
practice discussions, and ensuring our solutions
remain aligned with evolving standards. It’s been a
year of drive, progress, and pride in seeing Swifix
products make a considerable difference to the
quality and longevity of EWI projects nationwide.”
Operating at the forefront of the retrofit and newbuild
sectors, SWIFIX continues to raise standards
across external wall insulation (EWI) systems. Its
specialist fixing solutions tackle a long-standing
industry challenge: maintaining the integrity, safety
and compliance of insulation where fixtures such
as lights, satellite dishes, pipework and cables
penetrate the building envelope. By protecting
thermal and fire performance, SWIFIX enables
contractors to deliver installations that are robust,
durable and regulation-ready. Central to its success is
close collaboration with system designers, installers,
manufacturers and training providers, supporting
best-practice installation and PAS 2035 compliance.
In an increasingly regulated market, SWIFIX is firmly
positioned as a trusted technical authority.
Paul was recently honoured with the Outstanding
Achievement Award at the 2025 Insulated Render
and Cladding Association (INCA) Awards. This
notable recognition celebrates his decades long
contribution to the EWI industry, his commitment to
innovation, and his dedication to raising standards
across the sector. As a long-standing supporter
for quality, compliance, and collaboration, Paul
has played a key role in developing solutions that
improve the performance and durability of EWI
systems. His leadership within his businesses and
service on the INCA Board have helped shape best
practice within the sector – cementing his reputation
as a true champion of the industry. This along with
his training business has contributed to this award.
Support for Success has also been steadily
progressing throughout 2025, gearing up for its
official launch in January 2026.
“Much of our focus has gone into establishing a
strong network of locations across the UK to ensure
we can deliver the course effectively and at scale.
That groundwork has taken time, but it has put us
in a solid position moving forward. The level of
interest is already building, and we’re anticipating
a very positive year ahead,” said Paul.
One pivotal course for the building sector is the
Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA).
“A lot of people in the construction and retrofit
industries have years of experience but haven’t had
the opportunity to translate that into qualifications,
and the EWPA route gives them a practical,
efficient way to do that without taking too much
time away from work,” said Paul.
“What we find rewarding about this area is that it
directly impacts both individuals and employers. For
the workers, achieving an NVQ through the EWPA
can open doors to new contracts, site access, and
career progression. For businesses, it ensures a
more qualified, compliant workforce, which adds
credibility and trust in the marketplace.”
“What’s more, the course is completely flexible.
Its emphasis on recognising real world experience
means it is a tangible example of how Support for
Success helps bridge the gap between skills and
certification”
As we enter 2026, we asked Paul what the
future holds for Support for Success, “Our focus
is on building steady progress while ensuring
the foundations we’ve put in place continue to
strengthen. In the short term, the priority is to
support the successful rollout of our multi location
delivery centres and make sure each site has the
resources and operational stability needed for a
smooth national launch. We’re also continuing to
improve the course experience, drawing on early
feedback so that what we deliver in 2026 sets the
standard we want to be known for.”
“Longer term, the vision is to expand our reach,
deepen partnerships, and evolve our courses so
they remain relevant and genuinely impactful.
That includes broadening our network of delivery
partners, ultimately, the plan is to build a model
that not only delivers strong outcomes now but
positions us well for continued progress over the
coming years.”

Managing Maintenence Job data with Connect
From conversations with businesses and organisations at Maintec earlier this
year, it was clear that most were either undertaking or planning internal Digital
Transformation programmes and were actively looking to innovate their processes.
Digitising maintenance jobs was a particularly hot topic. Many organisations were still
using some paper-based processes, and all relied heavily on spreadsheets – both of
which they were keen to move away from.
Connect is a digital-only software product that consists of two tools:
ConnectManager enables planners and schedulers of reactive and PPM jobs to easily
view work in a calendar format and on a map.
ConnectMobile is a mobile app used by engineers, operatives, inspectors, and
maintenance team members. It allows them to view their daily jobs, customer site
details, job information, and any associated documents or asset diagrams related to
the site.
ä Quick and easy for office based Schedulers to create Jobs in ConnectManager,
which runs in a Web Browser
ä Mobile Engineers & Operatives use ConnectMobile, an Android Mobile App to view,
edit, attach photos, then close completed Jobs

Motors
Oriental Motor: Powering
the future of motion control
Founded in 1885, Oriental Motor is a Japanese
manufacturer of high-quality electric motors
and drives with vast experience and expertise
in supplying the automation sector. Known as
a global entity, Oriental Motor is represented
worldwide in many countries with subsidiaries
and sales offices across Europe, America,
Asia, Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea,
Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
For decades, Oriental Motor has been
committed to a business style that involves
responding to the needs of engineers around
the world as they develop and improve new
products and equipment in the industries of
food, transportation, industry, and medicine.
It’s mission, to provide support through its
motion control systems – via hardware,
software and human aspect – for engineers
who strive to take the first step to make
tomorrow better, reflects in the company’s
values, enabling it to deliver experiences that
excite and surpass expectations, providing
customers with the ‘WOW’ factor.
Alongside its extensive after sales support to
ensure smooth integration into its customers
manufacturing, the Oriental Motor product
range includes Closed loop Stepper Motors
equipped with multi turn mechanical absolute
encoders, Linear and Rotary Actuators
with absolute encoders for high accuracy
and sensorless positioning, Brushless DC
Motors that offer excellent speed and torque
stability in a compact package, AC Induction
Motors with high IP ratings and high energy
efficiency, Open Loop Stepper Motors with
industry leading low vibration and noise
levels, Industrial Fans, and Servo Motors with
tuning free setup. All products are available in
a range of AC and DC voltages, with various
international safety standard certifications.
We spoke to Mike Larsen, UK Divisional
Manager at Oriental Motor who explained
some of the range in more detail:
“Brushless DC motor systems combine
compact yet powerful brushless DC motors
and high-performance drivers to offer
excellent energy savings and speed stability,
along with a wide speed control range. With
brushless DC motors, you can downsize your
application, as the motors have slim bodies
and provide high power due to the use of
permanent magnets in the rotor.
The STEP AZ Series stepper motors offer high
efficiency, low vibration, and incorporate
our newly developed Mechanical Absolute
Encoder for absolute-type positioning
without battery backup or external sensors.
These closed-loop stepper motors provide
performance without hunting or gain tuning
and are available with a built-in controller or
pulse input driver, substantially reducing heat
generation through high-efficiency technology.
Our Rotary Actuators – The DGII Series,
combines a high-rigidity hollow rotary table
with an STEP closed-loop stepper motor and
driver package. It maintains the ease of use
of a stepper motor while enabling highly
accurate positioning of large inertia loads.
The Linear Actuators are equipped with
a motor offering excellent controllability,
and provide advantages over hydraulic
and pneumatic actuators, including stable
operation at low speeds, smooth acceleration
and deceleration, programmable motions with
multiple stopping points, and simple setup
adjustments via data changes.”
Since COVID-19, Oriental Motor has
recognised that many markets are moving
more quickly into automation including
robotics. As a result of this, Oriental Motor has
committed resource into developing a range
of 4, 5 and 6 axis robots, in particularly,
SCARA robots, which are one of the most
popular and easy-to-use industrial robotic arms
commonly used in a variety of industries for
manufacturing and assembly applications.
Oriental Motor has range of Robot Controllers
to help with the easy introduction of robots
into existing systems. The Robot Controller
MRC01 for example, is a controller that
controls a robot consisting of motors of
the AZ Series and/or motorised actuators
equipped with the AZ Series. When used in
combination with the programming software
MRC Studio, controlling a robot becomes
easy. It features two types of control methods:
Operation by Implicit communication
(periodic communication) of EtherNet/IP, and
operation by using I/O signals. Operation
programs and parameters are set using the
MRC Studio software or via EtherNet/IP.
Another product that is worth noting is the
750-watt Servo Motor, suitable for highspeed,
high-precision positioning over long
distances, allowing for positioning operation
with excellent acceleration and reliability.
Servo Motors are specialised for highresponse,
high-precision positioning. As a
motor capable of accurate rotation angle
and speed control, it can be used for a
variety of equipment.
Sustainability practices are implemented
at every stage of Oriental Motor’s product
lifecycle. With a dedication to reducing
their company environmental footprint,
Oriental Motor is committed to environmental
conservation, believing that innovation
and sustainability go hand in hand. This
commitment is engrained through a promise
to provide energy-efficient products, continue
its sustainable development, enhance its
green manufacturing, and expand on its
global responsibility, paving the way
towards a greener future.
From it’s facility in Birmingham UK, Oriental
Motor blends international knowledge with
the advantage of local expertise. Its UK team
is uniquely positioned to understand the
specific needs of British industries, offering
tailored motion control systems with quick,
personalised support. Of course, this service
is fully backed by a global network that
ensures access to cutting-edge technology
and the insights of a worldwide team of
engineers and innovators.
By having this dual-approach, Oriental Motor
can deliver the perfect blend of local service
and global reliability, to help your business to
thrive, wherever you are.

Mine & Crane Hoist Motors
Crane Hoist operators have ready solution
for replacement of obsolete motors
Many companies that have been operating
their ageing though reliable hoists have
found that when they need to replace hoist
motors the original OEMs either no longer exist
or the motor rating size has long since been
dropped from their production portfolio.
Who can they turn to, in order to get their
hoist back up and running as in many cases
if the slipring motor that has served them well
for 20-30 years can not be easily replaced
it could lead to an extremely full overhead
crane upgrade.
Menzel have seen this scenario grow over
the years with SME’s not able to afford a
complete new hoist just for the loss of a motor,
scratching around looking for second hand or
refurbished motors.
As such it has seen an increase in
opportunities to supply replacement motors.
Though certainly not the largest unit we have
shipped into the UK this year the pictured
motor here has a certain special relevance
to UK companies wanting to replace hoist
motors.
This cute little MEBSGR200L Crane Hoist
17kW, 415V, 730rpm Slip Ring motor
with an S4 40% Duty cycle was recently
configured to match the existing motor
envelope and delivered on time.
There are not many suppliers capable of
supplying a slip ring motor of this size so
if your hoists have obsolete or obsolescent
frames coming to their end of life that need
replacing let us help you by supplying a direct
replacements from Menzel.

Bespoke mining pit fan motors with fin
cooling
hree tailored three-phase squirrel cage motors
Tin frame size 630 for installation inside mining
pit fans.
MENZEL Motors has just recently designed and
manufactured three powerful 6,600V squirrel cage
motors as integral components for mining pit fans.
The customer specified cylindrical motor casings as
compact as possible for its underground ventilation
system. The greatest challenge was to implement
the required rated power of 1,700kW in cylindrical
casings.
Menzel therefore designed TEFC fin-cooled squirrel
cage motors (cooling type IC 411) in frame size 630,
an extremely unusual design for motors this large.
The manufacture is complex, but the result is optimal
for the constricted installation conditions in the
mining industry.
In order to save additional space, all connection
cables are routed out of the pit fan motors and the
terminal boxes are mounted outside the fans.
Since the driven fan wheels are mounted directly
on the motor shafts, the motor bearing must
compensate additional high loads: radial loads up
to 20,700N and axial loads up to 27,000N.
For the required bearing service life of 100,000
hours, Menzel implemented a special rolling
bearing setup.
In addition, the motors have a second shaft end
for a holding brake. The three-phase squirrel cage
motors are designed for operation on a frequency
converter (duty type S9) with speed changes and
reversal of the rotation direction.
This allows the pit fans not only to ventilate the mine,
but also to extract dangerous firedamp if necessary.
■ Type: Squirrel cage motor MEBKSR630-06
■ Standard: IEC/EN 60034-1
■ Power rating: 1,700kW (corresponds to 2,280HP)
■ Voltage rating: 6,600V
■ Frequency: 37Hz
■ Number of poles: 6 poles
■ Nominal speed: 730min-1
■ Rated torque: 22,240Nm

Logistics
ounded in 1870, Davies Turner has evolved
Finto one of the UK’s leading logistics
providers, offering multimodal transport,
warehousing, and supply chain solutions.
With over 23 branches and 850 staff nationwide,
the company combines a rich heritage with
modern expertise, ensuring quality, security,
and compliance.
The Rotherham branch not only offers standard
multimodal transport, but also offers specialised
services to our clients.
For over five years, the Rotherham office
has imported prototype cars from overseas
manufacturers. In 2024, there was a welcomed
increase in export shipments, predominantly to
the U.S.A. and Far East markets.
Over the course of 2024, Davies Turner built up
a diverse number of partner companies across
the length and breadth of the UK who are well
versed in the collection and loading of vehicles
for export. Each car is inspected for its overall
condition, with photos taken pre- and postloading
for both Davies Turner’s and our clients’
peace of mind. Getting them from A to B in the
same condition as when we collected them is
our main priority.
All cars are treated in the same meticulous way,
be it a VW Buzz from Grimsby or a Pagani
Huayra from Park Lane, London.
Shipping lines have become more and more
stricter regarding EV cars, now preferring to ship
cars with new batteries rather than second-hand
ones due to past ship fires attributed to secondhand
EV batteries. Davies Turner ensures cars
are packed and declared correctly.
Undertaking the challenge of shipping three
sports cars (Porsche and McLaren) to the US in
time to attend a car rally and races, with just a
35-day turnaround, Davies Turner were able to
purchase containers, collect the cars from the
owners, load into containers, and dispatch to the
USA. With sea freight transit at 30 days, it was
a tall order.
Mission Impossible – Accomplished.
Even with a little glitch in US customs, we
managed to achieve our goal and were able
to keep track of the vessel sailing across the
Atlantic.
The business has been challenging, with clients
requiring different means of loading the Pagani
Huayra Roadster, resembling the Batmobile,
and valued at a staggering 2.3 million euros.
Cushioned straps had to be used to secure
the car in place and prevent scratches, with
airbags at the sides and desiccant bags to keep
the moisture content inside the container to a
minimum throughout its transit.
Our core philosophy is simple: keeping our
customers happy by providing exceptional service
and regular updates throughout the process, from
loading and shipping to tracking once their goods
leave the UK. This commitment has helped us build
strong relationships, with many satisfied customers
returning for new quotes and repeat shipments.
After all, our customers are always our top priority.
