Furnishing fabric

and curtain industry

convenes in Cernobbio

for ‘Excellence’

As we present this issue of Home Textile Exports, we

are once again setting our course for one of the most

distinguished gatherings in the global furnishing fabric

calendar—Proposte 2026 in Cernobbio, Italy.

Held at the historic Villa Erba, nestled along the

breathtaking shores of Lake Como, Proposte remains

the only fair of its kind in Europe dedicated exclusively

to furnishing fabrics and curtains. Its unique

atmosphere—where heritage, innovation, and refined

design converge—continues to inspire the industry year

after year. For us, this event is more than a fair; it is

a longstanding tradition. We are proud to mark over

15 years of continuous participation, maintaining our

presence with a dedicated stand and strengthening

our ties within the international textile community.

In recent years, this participation has evolved into

a collaborative spirit. For the past three editions,

we have been part of a collective stand shared with

two other European magazines, reinforcing the

importance of media partnerships in shaping and

supporting the industry’s global dialogue.

This year, Turkish manufacturers once again

demonstrate their strong presence. While many

exhibitors will welcome visitors within the Villa Erba

complex, others will showcase their collections at

the International Observatory at Sheraton Como

Lake, seamlessly connected to Proposte via shuttle

services. This dual presence highlights both the

diversity and the growing influence of Turkish textile

producers on the international stage.

Looking ahead, our next issue will focus on another

key event: HOMETEX Istanbul. As always, we will

be there with a prominent stand, continuing our

mission to connect, inform, and inspire. During the

exhibition, we will proudly present and distribute six

of our publications—Home Textile Exports, Furnishing

Fabric Fashion, Contract Business, Sleep Well, Decor,

and Tekstil & Teknik—offering comprehensive insights

across the textile and interiors spectrum.

From Lake Como to Istanbul, our journey reflects the

dynamic rhythm of the home textile industry—rooted

in tradition, yet constantly moving forward.

We look forward to meeting you at Proposte and beyond.

TECHNOLOGY 25

The future

of textiles is

being rewoven

Technological advancements

ranging from artificial

intelligence to 3D printing,

and from digital production

to smart fabrics, are radically

transforming every aspect

of the textile industry-from

manufacturing and design to

sustainability and efficiency.

Technology has always played a

key role in the development of the

textile industry. However, in recent

years, this transformation has

accelerated like never before. Nextgeneration

technologies such as 3D

printing, artificial intelligence, and

machine learning are redefining the

way textile products are produced,

designed, and used. Today, customdesigned

fabrics are produced much

faster, manufacturing processes are

TECHNOLOGY

optimized through automation, and even

“smart textiles” that can respond to their

environment are being developed. This

technological shift is offering brands and

manufacturers new business models and

opportunities for sustainable growth.

Technological transformation

in the textile industry

The textile sector, which brings to life a wide

range of products from clothing to home

textiles on a global scale, is undergoing

significant changes in materials and production

methods due to digital transformation.

In particular, digital printing, 3D knitting

technologies, automation, and robotic systems

are at the forefront of this shift. Computeraided

design (CAD) allows for the rapid and

precise creation of complex patterns, while

automated looms can weave tens of thousands

of meters of fabric each day. Not only natural

fibers but also synthetic ones are now made

more resistant to water, wind, wrinkles, or UV

light thanks to technology.

Breaking boundaries with 3D printing

3D printing technology paves the way for

creative freedom in textile design while

significantly speeding up custom manufacturing

and prototyping processes. As a low-materialuse

method, it offers an environmentally friendly

alternative, while also reducing production costs

and human error. 3D-printed fabrics with high

durability contribute to a circular economy by

enabling longer-lasting products.

Smart production with artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence goes beyond automation

in manufacturing, playing a role in design,

quality control, and planning processes as well.

With AI-powered systems, manufacturers

achieve higher efficiency with fewer errors.

TECHNOLOGY 27

AI-assisted design software shortens timeto-market

by enabling rapid prototyping and

testing. Additionally, AI-integrated quality

control systems instantly detect defective

products, increasing brand reliability.

Challenges ahead: Sustainability and

standardization

Despite offering many solutions, the

textile industry still faces fundamental

challenges. Rising labor costs, pressure

for sustainability, and a lack of industrywide

standardization can hinder digital

transformation. Environmental impacts—such

as high water and energy consumption and

harmful chemical waste—make the need for

transformation even more urgent.

28

TECHNOLOGY

Smart fabrics and a sustainable future

Smart fabrics, which can respond to

environmental factors, are expected to

become more widespread in the future. These

materials will have applications ranging from

health monitoring to sports performance

tracking. Digital printing technology enables

fast, economical, and customized production. In

addition, a shift toward natural fibers and the

use of alternative materials like bamboo and

hemp will contribute to sustainability efforts.

Conclusion: Technology is redrawing

the boundaries

The ongoing technological revolution in the

textile industry is not only simplifying production

but also making the sector more sustainable,

innovative, and accessible. Although challenges

remain, technology is helping the industry

become more resilient—both economically and

environmentally. The fabrics of the future are no

longer woven solely with design, but with data,

intelligence, and sustainability.

In Türkiye, this transformation is especially

visible. Strong manufacturing capacity,

vertically integrated supply chains and

alignment with global sustainability standards

are enabling domestic textile producers to

compete effectively in sustainable fabric

categories. With global brands increasing

their demands for traceability, recyclability

and lifecycle transparency, Türkiye’s shift

toward innovative, eco-efficient production

creates significant competitive advantage.

time, chemically or enzymatically recycled

polyester and nylon are gaining market

share, enabling manufacturers to build

circular production loops that minimize

dependence on virgin resources.

Circularity and closed-loop systems reshape

supply chains

Circularity is evolving from a long-term

aspiration to a measurable production model.

Textile waste—from cutting-room scraps to

post-consumer garments—is increasingly

treated as a valuable raw material. In Türkiye,

several companies now operate fiber-to-fiber

recycling systems that sort, decompose and

convert textile waste into high-quality fibers.

biotechnological processes, these fibers offer

significantly lower environmental impact

compared with conventional alternatives.

Regenerated cellulose fibers—such as

bamboo-based fibers, lyocell, modal and

next-generation viscose with improved

solvent-recovery systems—are expanding

due to their reduced ecological footprint and

strong performance characteristics.

Turkish yarn manufacturers and research

centers are investing heavily in bio-based

raw materials that integrate smoothly

into established production lines. These

innovations allow mills to offer fabrics with

lower water usage, reduced emissions and

Two factors accelerate this shift in 2025:

tightening global regulations and brand-level

commitments to reduce virgin material usage.

The European Union’s Extended Producer

Responsibility (EPR) rules have direct

implications for Turkish exporters, prompting

rapid adaptation. As a result, recycled

polyester lines, mechanically recycled cotton

blends and innovative fiber blends compatible

with circular manufacturing are becoming

standard components of product assortments.

Eco-efficient dyeing and finishing

technologies gain momentum

Dyeing and finishing remain among the

most resource-intensive phases of textile

production. In response, the industry is rapidly

adopting low-impact solutions. Technologies

such as digital printing, dope-dyed yarns,

water, heat and chemical consumption.

Turkish mills implementing these systems

report measurable improvements in efficiency

and environmental performance. At the same

time, bio-based finishing agents—developed

as alternatives to petroleum-derived

chemicals—help ensure safer outputs for

workers, consumers and the environment.

Smart performance fabrics built on

sustainable principles

Performance textiles continue to be a major

growth area, yet the sector is undergoing

its own sustainability shift. Moisturemanagement

knits, thermal-regulating fabrics,

antibacterial structures and UV-protective

textiles are now increasingly produced using

bio-derived or mineral-based components.

and technical garment applications.

blockchain-enabled tracking or comprehensive

lifecycle assessments.

To meet these expectations, Turkish suppliers

are adopting digital traceability platforms,

investing in internationally recognized

certifications and offering transparent sourcing

disclosures. These efforts support global

brands in meeting new regulatory standards

while strengthening trust and brand value.

Türkiye’s strengthening role in sustainable

global production

Türkiye’s advanced infrastructure, regional

proximity, flexible production options and

growing expertise in eco-fabrics make

the country a key partner for global

brands seeking sustainable supply chains.

The integration of recycled fibers, biobased

materials and low-impact dyeing

technologies into mainstream production

signals a structural shift: sustainability is

becoming the foundation on which future

competitiveness will be built.

Türkiye’s strong knitting and technical textile

capabilities position the industry to respond

quickly to this demand. Collaboration between

universities, machinery manufacturers and

R&D departments accelerates the development

of durable, functional and environmentally

responsible performance fabrics.

Consumer expectations redefine production

priorities

Perhaps the most powerful driver of

sustainable transformation is changing

consumer behavior. Gen Z and young millennials

expect transparency, ethical sourcing, durability

and environmental accountability. They seek

Without strong values, no brand can endure in the long run. These values

are precisely what distinguish Matt Editeur from the ordinary. Each team

member is an indispensable part of this structure and has a voice in the

future of our brand.

What was the most important motivation that led you

to this sector when establishing Matt Editeur? Could

you tell us a bit about your founding process?

The main motivation that led me to this sector was

realizing that fabric is not just an upholstery material, but

one of the most powerful aesthetic elements reflecting

the character, energy of a space, and the mood of those

who live there. Matt Editeur was founded with an “edition”

approach that carries an aesthetic pursuit and passion for

quality in every fiber of the fabric, in order to achieve this

magical transformation. Our founding process was not just

about starting a business, but about embodying a vision

where we set out to find the finest yarns, the most talented

weavers, and the most innovative designers. Each of our

collections is created like a meticulously curated book, with

every detail examined and every texture carefully selected.

What are the key features that differentiate Matt

Editeur in the upholstery fabric sector?

The most fundamental feature that sets Matt Editeur

apart is our approach of treating fabric as an “edition”

(éditeur). We don’t just produce fabric; in each collection,

we present a theme, a story, and an emotional world. This

means not only using the highest quality raw materials

but also combining innovation in design, the psychology

of colors, and the sensuality of touch. Another element

that sets us apart is our obsessive passion for detail. When

our customers choose Matt Editeur, they are not just

buying a fabric; they are bringing a lifestyle, an aesthetic

understanding, and a long-lasting quality experience into

their homes.

How do you manage quality and design processes in

your products? How do you follow trends?

At Matt Editeur, quality and design are two complementary

and inseparable elements. Our design process is based not

only on following popular trends but also on blending them

with Matt Editeur’s sophisticated and timeless aesthetic

to create our own unique interpretation. While following

trends, instead of copying them, we draw inspiration from

art history, architecture, and the textures of nature. Our

design team closely follows art exhibitions, architectural

projects, and fashion weeks around the world, reflecting

these inspirations in our collections. Once our designs

come to life, they undergo strict quality tests such as

abrasion resistance and lightfastness in our laboratories to

ensure durability.

What kind of growth strategy do you pursue in both

domestic and international markets? What are your

target markets?

Matt Editeur’s growth strategy is not only about increasing

sales figures but also about delivering our brand’s aesthetic

vision and quality philosophy to wider audiences. In both

domestic and international markets, we maintain the

exclusivity and prestige of our brand by building a selective

distribution network. Our target markets are defined not

only by geographical boundaries but also by lifestyle and

aesthetic understanding. Europe, North America, and

the Asia-Pacific regions are the markets with the highest

growth potential for us. In these markets, we don’t just sell

products; we create experiential spaces that reflect our

brand’s aesthetic world.

In recent years, the world has changed at a pace we have never been used to. We have gone

through challenging, uncertain, and unexpected periods. This process was also a test for

Matt Editeur. However, what has kept us going is our culture of collaboration, our effort, and

our passion for our work. At the point we have reached today, we look to the future more

clearly and more boldly with the strength we draw from the past.

Sustainability and environmentally friendly production are

among the fundamental pillars of Matt Editeur’s philosophy.

By recognizing the value of the resources nature provides,

we take responsibility to protect them and implement ecofriendly

production methods. With water-saving dyeing

technologies, energy-efficient production processes,

and waste management policies, we aim to minimize our

environmental impact. Our understanding of sustainability

is not limited to production processes; it is also reflected in

the longevity and durability of our fabrics. We will continue

our sustainability efforts with determination to leave a

more livable world for future generations.

What are Matt Editeur’s goals and new projects for

the upcoming period?

Matt Editeur’s goals for the upcoming period include both

quantitative and qualitative growth. While increasing our

sales figures, we aim to bring our brand’s aesthetic vision

and quality philosophy to wider audiences. Among our new

projects are creating experiential spaces that reflect our

brand’s aesthetic world and strengthening our presence on

digital platforms. As we pursue our growth goals, we will

never compromise on our obsessive passion for detail, our

quality standards, or our aesthetic pursuit. Matt Editeur

continues its journey to transform your living spaces into

works of art with every touch.

What kind of roadmap do you follow in the face of

competition and rising costs in the sector?

Competition and rising costs in the sector are not just

challenges for us but also opportunities for transformation

focused on innovation and efficiency. In response to cost

increases, we keep our costs under control by improving

operational efficiency and optimizing our raw material

supply processes. However, reducing costs never means

compromising our quality; we aim to overcome cost

increases by developing more innovative and value-added

products. In the face of competition, we differentiate

ourselves not by price, but by design, quality, service, and

brand image.

Do you have any initiatives regarding sustainability

and environmentally friendly production? What is

your perspective on this issue?

“We are not just a manufacturer;

we are a brand that understands

our customers’ needs”

“OUR STORY IS BUILT

ON PERSEVERANCE, HARD WORK,

AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT”

What need led to the foundation of Erdem

Ambalaj? What was your initial motivation

to enter this sector, and looking at where

you are today, how would you define your

brand’s story?

“The foundations of Erdem Ambalaj were laid

to meet the need for high-quality, durable,

and aesthetic packaging solutions in the

sector. We realized that, especially in the field

of PVC bags and packaging, customers were

struggling to find solutions that both protect

their products and add visual value. This

need became our main motivation to start

production in this field.

From day one, our priority has been

to develop a production approach

centered on quality, trust, and customer

satisfaction. Over time, thanks to our

experience, customer feedback, and belief

in continuous improvement, we expanded

our product range and established a solid

position in the industry.

Erdem Ambalaj, one of the prominent companies in Türkiye’s PVC

packaging sector, offers aesthetic and durable solutions to brands

in many fields, especially home textiles. The company continues to

make a difference in various areas, from minimal design to striking

visuals, from sustainability to export-supported collaborations.

SOLUTIONS THAT ADD VALUE

TO HOME TEXTILES

How do the different solutions in your

product portfolio—such as piped, corded,

and frequency-welded PVC bags—add

value especially to home textile products?

How does this variety affect customers’

decision-making processes?

“The piped, corded, and frequency-welded

PVC bag solutions in our product portfolio

provide both protection and an aesthetic

presentation for home textile products. While

preserving the form of the product, these

bags ensure a more organized and eyecatching

appearance on shelves and displays.

Thanks to our wide range of model options,

brands can easily choose the most suitable

packaging for their target audience and

product segments. This variety helps products

stand out from competitors and directly

influences the consumer’s purchasing decision.”

“ORIGINAL DESIGNS

HELP PRODUCTS STAND OUT”

You offer both printed and unprinted

alternatives in PVC packaging production.

What are the most demanded trends in

packaging design recently? Is minimalism or

eye-catching design more prominent?

“We offer flexibility to brands with both

printed and unprinted PVC packaging

options. Today, two main trends stand out:

simple and minimalist designs, and eyecatching,

brand-focused applications.

While minimal designs form a sense of

elegance and a premium perception, vibrant

and original designs help products stand out

on the shelves. The preference depends on

the brand’s target audience and positioning.”

SUSTAINABILITY: A PRIORITY

FOR ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTION

Sustainability has become an inevitable

agenda for all sectors. As a plastic

packaging manufacturer, what kind of

roadmap do you follow in developing

environmentally friendly solutions?

“We consider sustainability an important

part of our production processes. In this

direction, we focus on reducing raw material

usage, preferring recyclable materials, and

minimizing production waste.

At the same time, we aim to reduce our

environmental impact by producing

long-lasting and reusable packaging. As

Erdem Ambalaj, we continuously work on

developing more environmentally friendly

solutions while maintaining quality.”

“WE DEVELOP SOLUTIONS THAT

SUPPORT EXPORT PROCESSES”

Türkiye is a strong player in home textile

exports. Do collaborations between packaging

manufacturers and textile producers

generate a competitive advantage? What is

your approach in this area?

“Collaborations between packaging

manufacturers and textile companies

play an important role in Türkiye’s

strength in the home textile sector. The

right packaging solutions ensure both the

protection of the product and a stronger

presentation in international markets.

As Erdem Ambalaj, we work with our

customers like business partners and develop

solutions that enhance their brand value and

support their export processes. We believe

this approach provides companies with a

significant competitive advantage.”

Investments in technical textiles

and nonwovens gain

strong momentum in 2026

The rising investment appetite in Türkiye’s technical textile and

nonwoven sectors is set to expand production capacity in 2026,

significantly strengthening the industry’s global competitivenes

As Türkiye’s textile industry enters 2026,

its focus on high value–added segments

continues to intensify. Growing global

demand for technical textile and nonwoven

products is driving companies to establish

new production lines and upgrade their

machinery. From medical textiles to

industrial fabrics, from filtration materials to

automotive textiles, the expanding product

range positions Türkiye as a more strategic

player in the technical textile market.

Demand for high-performance products

is increasing

In 2026, international markets are witnessing

a notable rise in demand for technical textile

products that offer durability, functionality,

and long service life. Turkish manufacturers

are responding by developing products

with functional properties such as UV

resistance, waterproofing, heat resistance,

and antibacterial performance. Investments

in nonwoven lines especially enhance

quality and efficiency in hygiene, medical

protection, and filtration applications. These

investments not only increase companies’

capacity but also broaden collaboration

opportunities with global brands.

value–added export structure, complementing

its traditional textile exports. Modernization

efforts in nonwoven and technical textile

machinery provide companies with lower

defect rates, faster production, and greater

flexibility in product development. As demand

for technical textile products grows in markets

with high quality standards—such as Europe

and the United States—Türkiye’s export

position continues to strengthen.

Technical textiles will be the sector’s

new growth driver in 2026

Industry representatives emphasize that

technical textile and nonwoven segments will

remain at the center of growth throughout

2026. With accelerating investments, Türkiye

is progressing toward becoming a regional

production hub not only in traditional apparel

and home textiles but also in industrial and

functional textiles. As product development and

machinery technologies advance in parallel, the

sector is expected to achieve a stronger and

more sustainable position in global markets.

New investments strengthen export

market advantages

The rise in technical textile production
