HTHW Heat Pumps provide a

clean, efficient and future proof

solution for industries that rely

on high grade thermal energy

such as Food & Beverage,

Pharmaceutical & Chemical, Pulp

& Paper, and Textiles. What’s

more, they can be configured

to produce either direct steam

or high temperature hot water

(HTHW) for process use, allowing

seamless integration into

existing plant infrastructure.

Furthermore, to keep in line with sustainability, each

system is designed to the precise requirements of the

site, ensuring optimal temperature control, pressure

management and heat delivery. By utilising high

temperature processes, businesses can significantly

reduce operational emissions and align with national

Case Study

Fenland Glasshouse Heat

Pump Project, which is

one of the UK’s largest

water source heat pump

projects. Harnessing

the naturally available

energy in open water

reservoirs, 33MW of

heat pumps are now

generating low carbon

heat as part of a wider

energy plan to produce

fruit and vegetables here

in the UK. The control system constantly evaluates

performance targets and thermal storage capacity

against system demand to provide a truly turnkey

energy solution. This 32.9MW combined heat pump

is currently the largest in the UK and supplies all the

energy needed to heat a 217,000m 2 glass house.

Another project where Pure Renewables Commercial

energy solutions have made a huge difference was

for a Commercial Residency in Greenwich, where they

installed a 300kW ground source heat pump to heat

a block of 75 flats. This large shared heating system

replaced traditional gas boilers for an entire apartment

block using heat from underground water (aquifer) via

open-loop boreholes.

The residents living

here can now receive

heating and hot water

at 60°C, meaning it is a

more environmentally

friendly option than

synthetic gas because

the pump runs on

CO 2 refrigerant. This

innovative approach

enables the system

to deliver 4.2 units

of heat for every

unit of electricity

consumed, achieving

an efficiency of over

400% compared to

traditional gas boilers.

As the company looks to further its impact on the

industry and the planet, we asked Edward what

more can we expect from Pure Renewables in the

future, “The ambition is to become the leading UK

delivery partner for commercial and industrial heat

pump systems. This includes scaling project delivery

capability, expanding partnerships with global

manufacturers, and playing a key role in the UK's

transition away from fossil fuel-based heating.

“The heat pump market continues to evolve rapidly,

however there remains a disconnect between

pleased to feature Tanveer Qureshi as our

Lawyer of the Year

Tanveer Qureshi’s route into sustainability

law has been shaped less by rhetoric than

by exposure to the realities of regulatory

enforcement. His background lies in high-pressure

disputes and investigations, where governance

failures are laid bare, reputations are on the line,

and legal risk is immediate. Over the course of his

career, he has advised companies and individuals

facing intense scrutiny, operating at the point where

business, regulation and enforcement converge.

That foundation now informs a sustainability

practice grounded in the practical demands of

ESG compliance, environmental crime, corporate

investigations and the expanding litigation landscape

surrounding greenwashing. Qureshi approaches

ESG not as a branding exercise or aspirational

concept, but as a question of accountability: what

organisations know, what they can substantiate,

and whether their public statements can survive

regulatory or legal challenge. As sustainability

commitments attract greater legal and commercial

exposure, that distinction has become increasingly

important.

We spoke with Tanveer Qureshi about the past 12

months in his career, the evolution of his practice,

and the growing demand for expertise at the

intersection of ESG, governance and regulatory risk.

“The past 12 months have been particularly

rewarding and professionally significant. My

practice has continued to grow in areas that are

increasingly important to corporates and directors,

especially where ESG, sustainability, governance

and regulatory risk intersect. It has been a year of

strong momentum, both in terms of the volume and

quality of the work, and in the way those areas are

now being recognised as central to serious business

decision-making.

“As a barrister, I have always been drawn to

work that sits at the point where legal principle,

commercial reality and risk management meet.

Over the past year, that has been especially true

of my work in sustainability claims, supply-chain

accountability and health and safety. What has made

the period particularly interesting is that these are

no longer niche questions. They are live boardroom

issues, and they increasingly require advice that is

both legally rigorous and commercially grounded.

“In terms of workload, it has been extremely strong

and, in many respects, ahead of expectations. There

has been a clear increase in demand for advice

in relation to ESG-related risk, particularly where

sustainability claims, governance, supply chains and

regulatory scrutiny overlap.

“What has also been notable is the type of work

that is coming in. Clients are increasingly seeking

advice at an earlier stage, before a public claim is

made, before a campaign is launched, or before a

governance or safety issue becomes a dispute or

investigation. That is a very positive development.

It reflects a growing recognition that legal advice in

this field is not simply about defence after the event,

but about shaping better decision-making from the

outset.”

Recent years have seen significant development in

Tanveer Qureshi’s practice, particularly in relation

to sustainability claims, greenwashing risk and

supply-chain transparency. He increasingly advises

businesses on ensuring that environmental

messaging is accurate, properly substantiated and

capable of withstanding legal or regulatory scrutiny.

His work in this area reflects the growing pressure

on organisations to align public commitments with

operational reality, especially as sustainability

statements attract greater commercial and legal

consequences.

Alongside this, Qureshi continues to maintain a

substantial health and safety practice, acting for

corporates and senior individuals in investigations

and allegations involving the Health and Safety

Executive. That work sits naturally alongside his

broader ESG and governance practice, often engaging

the same underlying questions of leadership,

accountability, risk management and corporate

systems. In many respects, health and safety

matters provide some of the clearest examples of

how the social and governance dimensions of ESG

operate in practice.

His practice is centred on helping companies and

directors navigate areas where ESG obligations,

governance concerns and operational responsibility

intersect. This includes advising on sustainability

claims, regulatory exposure, supply-chain risk and

the legal consequences that arise when public

statements are not supported by evidence or by

underlying business practices.

What distinguishes Qureshi’s approach is the

perspective he brings from contentious and

regulatory work. His advice is informed not only

by technical compliance considerations, but by a

clear understanding of how decisions, documents

and public messaging are likely to be examined if

challenged by regulators, prosecutors or opponents.

That emphasis on scrutiny and evidential robustness

has become increasingly valuable as ESG-related

“What sets my approach apart is the combination

of careful legal analysis, strategic judgment and

commercial realism. Clients rarely need advice that

is merely technically correct. They need advice that

is clear, practical and capable of being applied in

the real world. That is particularly true in ESGrelated

matters, where legal risk, brand positioning,

regulatory scrutiny and operational conduct are often

closely connected.

“I also think my perspective as a barrister is

important. My work regularly involves analysing how

issues will stand up to scrutiny, how a regulator or

opponent is likely to frame the problem, and what

the strongest and weakest aspects of a client’s

position are likely to be. That means I am very

focused on giving advice that is not only sound in

law, but robust under challenge. Furthermore, I have

been pleased to contribute to broader discussion

in this area through speaking engagements and

thought leadership, which has helped me continue

building a practice that combines advisory work with

advocacy and strategic input.

“More broadly, I do not see ESG as a silo. I see

it as part of a wider framework of governance,

accountability and responsible decision-making. That

is one reason why my work in sustainability claims,

supply chains and health and safety fits together so

naturally,” states Tanveer.

“ESG should not be viewed solely through the lens

of environmental claims. In practice, it is equally

about governance, risk management and how

responsibilities to employees, consumers and the

wider public are discharged. That is one reason

why Tanveer’s work in health and safety aligns so

naturally with his ESG practice, where questions of

corporate responsibility are often tested in the most

immediate and practical way.

“Businesses are operating in an environment where

public statements, internal governance, supply-chain

practice, workforce responsibilities and regulatory

expectations are becoming ever more closely

connected. As a result, the need for clear, strategic

and legally rigorous advice has never been greater.

“At its best, legal advice in this area does more

than help clients avoid difficulty. It helps them

make stronger decisions, communicate with greater

credibility, and build businesses that are more

resilient over the long term,” Tanveer adds.

In the short term, Tanveer intends to continue

expanding his work with corporates and directors

across sustainability claims, supply-chain governance,

health and safety, and wider ESG-related risk. As

demand for specialist advice in these areas continues

to grow, his focus remains on developing a practice

that combines technical expertise with commercial

relevance and strategic insight.

Looking further ahead, Qureshi aims to further

establish himself as a leading barrister in matters

that are strategically significant, contentious or

high-risk, particularly where ESG, governance and

regulatory scrutiny intersect. He also intends

to continue contributing to broader industry

understanding through speaking engagements,

writing and training. His ambition is to remain

closely involved in shaping discussion in a field

where businesses increasingly require advice that is

practical, authoritative and forward-looking.

In closing, we asked Tanveer how he felt receiving

the award, “I feel genuinely proud, grateful and

honoured. It is a real privilege to be recognised in

this way, particularly in an area of practice that I care

deeply about and have worked hard to develop.

“What makes the award especially meaningful is that

it reflects sustained work in a field that is both fastmoving

and increasingly important. ESG issues now

engage not only environmental considerations, but

also governance, accountability, risk and corporate

credibility. To be recognised for my contribution

in that broader context is something I value very

highly.”

As ESG-related obligations continue to evolve,

practitioners such as Tanveer Qureshi are increasingly

operating at the forefront of some of the most

commercially and legally significant issues facing

modern businesses. What emerges clearly from

his work is an approach grounded not in abstract

is clearly outlined and requires only evidence of

infrastructure charges – meaning developers

see the financial benefit quickly and with minimal

Is compliance easy?

Since its foundation

in 1984, Hargassner

For commercial decisionmakers,

for Air Conditioning and

Heat Pump refrigerant leak

detection. The platform

features innovative

MPS sensor technology,

specifically addressing some

of the major disadvantages

associated with detection

systems using traditional

sensor technologies such as

Metal Oxide Semiconductor

or Catalytic Bead/Pellistor.

The HVACR market is

witnessing continuous, and

dynamic change with regard

to the refrigerant landscape.

The high GWP of legacy refrigerants is driving global

environmental regulations, such as Europe’s F Gas

regulations, and the USA’s EPA/AIM towards a

phase down/out of almost all high GWP refrigerants,

including the likes of R410a and R404a. As a

requirement of these regulations, the requirement

for ‘containment’ of refrigerant within equipment is

critical and underpinned by mandated requirements

for manual and continuous leak checking.

In addition to the environmental regulations,

the relevant safety standards, such as EN378 in

Europe and ASHRAE 15/34 in the US, mandate the

requirement for refrigerant

detection systems

depending on system

charge sizes and potential

for a refrigerant leak into

an occupied space or

machinery room to result in

a concentration dangerous

to occupant health.

The transition to lower GWP

refrigerants, such as R32

& R290 is addressing the

high GWP issue, however

it also introduces a higher

risk profile in the form

of flammability. As such,

the requirement for leak

free design and operation

is enhanced. For Europe,

the direction of travel for many OEMs appears to be

towards R290 (GWP of 3), with many manufacturers of

heat pumps and other HVAC equipment transitioning

product designs to this refrigerant.

Against this market backdrop, Aquilar are addressing

the growing requirements for effective refrigerant

detection, offering an innovative solution for both new

installations, and retrofit options for existing legacy

fixed refrigerant detection installations.

The MPS is a MEMS-based sensor technology

proprietary to NevadaNano, originally developed over

20 years ago. The sensor operates by measuring

changes in the thermodynamic properties of air

and gas. Combined with data from the onboard

environmental sensor, patented algorithms

provide accurate, stable, and fully environmentally

compensated measurements of the target gas

concentration. This enables a typical sensor life

exceeding 15 years without the need for repeated

calibration or servicing.

Traditional MOS or catalytic bead/pelistor based

systems are widely used in the market, however they

do have significant drawbacks, including propensity

for poisoning, cross interference from other gases/

chemical compounds, requirement for regular

calibration, and relatively short lifetimes.

Panasonic’s sustainable

heat pumps power the

National Wool Museum

Panasonic recently provided a large

air to water heat pump system to

the National Wool Museum, located in

a large remote site based in South-

West Wales. Looking to achieve net

zero, the National Wool Museum

reached out to M&E contracting and

installation company FP Hurley, who

specified four Panasonic Aquarea 30kW

TCAP M Series units, a first-of-its-kind

installation in the UK.

Replacing the old gas-fired boilers, to

make the old museum building more

energy efficient, the National Wool

Museum sourced funding from the

Welsh government via a grant that

supports a more sustainable heating

system. The initial site visit revealed

the system must fit within a limited

outdoor space and additionally, the

building was found to be surrounded

by residential neighbouring properties,

meaning the new system needed to be

quiet to prevent disturbance. FP Hurley

specified four Panasonic Aquarea 30kW

M Series units that could meet the

capacity required to easily connect

to existing internal infrastructure

as well as deliver space-saving and

efficient heating to all the internal

areas of the museum. Selecting the

high-temperature T-CAP technology

with simple plug-and-play connection

capabilities helped to streamline the

project. The Panasonic M series units

were easily able to integrate with the

museum’s existing radiators, to deliver

a high-water outlet temperature

of up to 75°C and work in outdoor

temperatures as low as -25°C. The

units use R290, a natural refrigerant

with a Global Warming Potential (GWP)

of 0.02, ensuring the system is more

sustainable.

featured the Velorim Group as our Renewable

mountain bike paths. Named Velopath, this solution

has been designed to avoid the pitfalls of using

concrete, as it is flexible Velopath allows plant

growth under the surface, allows water penetration

and is non-toxic, it can be patched as needed

rather than having to be dug up and replaced and

can be easily applied in a wide variety of locales.

Plus there's a poetic symmetry in cyclists cycling

on old tyres!”

This past year has seen some exciting

developments for Velorim. The company began

accepting Li-on batteries, increasing the already

impressive capabilities to service cyclists. It also

developed, designed and implemented a new way

of cutting tyres. This innovative new approach

allows for more efficient packing, lowering logistics

and storage costs.

another year of customer growth. Velorim added 56

new clients this year, growing the brand's mission

and elevating its purpose.

Beyond operational growth, Velorim’s impact can

an otherwise sustainable activity. By creating a

is also working on a fintech solution to utilise the

EPR requirements of the tyre, tube and battery

manufacturers.

it with the help of AI,” explains Dr

Solid-state sensors are used to

deliver reliable results regardless

of turbidity in soil and water. This

technology is supplemented by AIsupported

evaluations that can detect

anomalies, such as the discharge of

toxic substances, at an early stage.

These evaluations link the anomalies to

historical and meteorological data and

use this information to derive forecasts

and recommendations for action. The

aim is to ensure the long-term quality

of groundwater and enable a rapid

response to environmental pollution.

Acer EMEA focuses on

green logistics

Acer is set to achieve an ambitious

goal in reducing CO 2 emissions

in its supply chain, going from -274

tonnes in 2023 to a target of -2,470

tonnes by the end of 2025. This

result will be achieved through a

mix of innovative solutions: electric

transport, certified biofuels and

continuous monitoring of emissions

with dedicated internal tools.

From September 2025, the first

shipments by electric trucks

will begin in the Netherlands,

significantly reducing local emissions

and contributing to improved air

quality in urban areas. Projects are

also underway with Kuehne+Nagel

to adopt Hydro Vegetable Oil (HVO)

and other biofuels, with the aim of

replacing traditional fossil fuels and

reducing the carbon footprint of

logistics.

In addition, the implementation of

an internal tool allows CO 2 emissions

to be monitored for each individual

shipment, improving transparency

and enabling targeted interventions

to optimise environmental efficiency.

AkzoNobel launches fleet

transformation

AkzoNobel has announced the

deployment of its first 100%

electric trucks and urban trailer

fleet together with a nationwide

hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO)

powered fleet in partnership with

XPO Logistics. The initiative will cut

the company’s transport emissions

by over 50% and save approximately

3,000 tonnes of carbon emissions

annually, directly supporting

AkzoNobel’s SBTi to reduce Scope 1

emissions by 50% by 2030, against a

2018 baseline.

Measurable environmental impact

In this landmark move, AkzoNobel

will become the first paint brand in

the UK to deploy large-scale electric

heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) under

the government’s ZEHID programme.

The transformation will deliver

annual carbon savings in 3 key areas:

t Vehicle efficiency improvements:

300 tonnes CO 2 reduction

t Euro 6 engines and electric

vehicles: 700 tonnes CO 2 reduction

t HVO fuel adoption: 2,000 tonnes

These combined savings of 3,000

Two fully electric trucks will operate

Lessons learnt with larger

electric vans in response to

eHGV consultation

Lessons learnt from the adoption of

larger electric vans are highlighted by

the Association of Fleet Professionals

(AFP) in its response to the

government’s eHGV consultation.

The industry body supports ending the

sale of 26 tonne non-EV trucks

by 2035 and vehicles over

that weight by 2040.

However, it says

any new supply

or demandside

regulatory

frameworks will

only succeed if

infrastructure

delivery keeps pace

with vehicle supply.

Paul Hollick, AFP chair,

said, “Government ambition

should be accompanied by a

credible eHGV infrastructure delivery

plan, with particular attention to

distribution network operator capacity

and connection timescales. We need to

especially learn lessons from the way

infrastructure issues have played a part

in the slow uptake of larger electric

electric vehicles

is picking up

pace again

arket growth for electric vehicles has picked up speed

Monce again in 2025: a total of 21.4 million electric

vehicles were newly registered worldwide. This represents

an increase of 23% compared to the previous year. With

over 14 million new registrations, China continues to

dominate the electric car market ahead of the USA, while

Germany is catching up again after two weaker years: over

the previous year, the number of new registrations rose

by 50% to 856,500 electric cars. This means that there are

now 3,157,200 electric cars on German roads.

The latest figures on electromobility were compiled by the

Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-

Württemberg (ZSW). The survey covered purely batteryelectric

cars, plug-in hybrids as well as vehicles with range

extenders. By the end of 2025, the global fleet of electric

cars will amount to 74.3 million vehicles.

Around 60%, or around 44 million, of these EVs are

registered in China, while the USA takes second place with

7.1 million electric cars, ahead of Germany with 3.2 million

vehicles. With the exception of the Chinese market (+40%),

the highest growth rates in the portfolio were achieved

by smaller markets such as Spain with 50% (+232,200

vehicles) and Denmark with 42% (+206,600 vehicles).

The global electric vehicle market is increasingly

dominated by China: Even though almost all markets

recorded partially significant growth, China now accounts

for two thirds of the 21.4 million new registrations,

totalling 14.2 million vehicles.

London’s Department of Bioengineering

have unveiled how to engineer microbial

‘cell-factories’ to boost the manufacture

of high-value chemicals that are used in

everyday products like domestic goods,

clothes and food.

To date cell-based systems have been

less efficient than existing petrochemical

processes due to natural constraints

within living cells. However, through

computational modelling, the team has

demonstrated that simple refinements

of existing methods can boost production

nearly two-fold.

Engineering living cells (such as bacteria

and yeasts) to produce chemicals

has the potential to create a greener

chemicals industry. This could replace

carbon-intensive petrochemical-based

systems with bio-based cell factories that

convert cheap and sustainably sourced

feedstocks into valuable chemicals.

Dr Alexander Darlington, Royal Academy

of Engineering Research Fellow and

Assistant Professor at the University

of Warwick, said, “Our research offers

strategies for designing bacteria that are

easier to implement than those currently

considered state-of-the-art. We tested

around 500 different control mechanisms,

and found two that were new to research,

which offers a clear pathway toward

more efficient bio-based synthesis of

chemicals. This will enable the sustainable

manufacture of everything from drugs to

plastics, products we use every day.”

Managing odour and emissions in food-waste

recycling

Across the UK, councils are introducing

weekly food-waste collections that divert

organic material from landfill and convert

it into low-carbon resources. Collected food

waste is processed in anaerobic digestion (AD)

facilities, where it is broken down in sealed

tanks to produce renewable biogas for heat

and power, alongside nutrient-rich digestate

used as fertiliser. This circular approach

reduces methane emissions, displaces fossil

fuels and supports local authorities' net-zero

ambitions.

Report shows now is

the time to seize biogas

opportunity

he recent special report from the

TInternational Energy Agency (IEA)

confirms that globally the development

of anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas

is accelerating, and that this renewable

energy source could provide the equivalent

of nearly one trillion cubic metres of

natural gas.

The report Outlook for Biogas and

Biomethane highlights the momentum

of policy development in the sector, with

over 50 new policies introduced since

2020 as countries increasingly recognise

the benefits of biogases. It also stresses

the importance of valuing the cobenefits

of AD, including improved waste

management, reduced fugitive emissions

from decomposing organic waste, and

the use of digestate to improve soil

health and offset emissions linked to

synthetic fertilisers.

HRS Heat Exchangers has long argued

that for biogas to reach its full global

potential, both the efficiency of the AD

process and the benefits of digestate

in sustainable farming must be

maximised.

Energy efficiency and production

therefore need to be optimised

through measures such as efficient

digester heating using external corrugated

tube heat exchangers, exhaust gas and

digestate heat recovery, and biogas

dehumidification to remove water and

sulfur.

pasteurisation and concentration can

increase the economic and nutritional

value of digestate while improving plant

Processing putrescible waste at scale,

however, presents challenges around odour,

corrosive gases and worker exposure,

particularly in reception halls, pre-treatment

areas and downstream process buildings.

New roadmap could

unlock biogas potential

HRS Heat Exchangers has welcomed

the publication of a new Clean

Flexibility Roadmap by the Department

of Energy Security and Net Zero

(DESNZ) which expands on the UK

Government’s previously narrow view

of the potential of biomethane to

deliver significant carbon reductions.

Not only does the report (which has

been produced in conjunction with

Ofgem and the National Energy

System Operator (NESO), alongside

energy industry stakeholders and

consumer groups) recognise that

biomethane can provide long duration

flexibility to the wider energy network,

but it also recognises its flexibility

to be used ‘across many different

end-uses, including industry, transport,

and low carbon dispatchable power

generation at gas-fired power plants’

as well as its potential to decarbonise

heating.

As a supplier of equipment to

developers and operators of anaerobic

digestion (AD) and biomethane plants

in the UK and worldwide, HRS also

welcomes the ambition to consult on

‘a holistic future policy framework for

biomethane [next year], to follow the

current Green Gas Support Scheme,

which closes to new applications

in March 2028. This will include

consideration of biomethane’s role in

dispatchable power generation.’

Reacting to the roadmap, HRS Global

Thanks to novel flat

membranes, biogas can

be processed directly and

energy-efficiently – even in

small plants. In the Bio4Value

project, the Fraunhofer

Institute for Applied Polymer

Research IAP in the Potsdam

Science Park, together with

KS Kunststoffbau GmbH

and the Leibniz Institute

for Agricultural Engineering

and Bioeconomy ATB, is developing

a technology that opens new

perspectives for the material use of

methane and CO 2 .

Easy handling without prior drying

of the biogas

Biogas offers a wide range of

applications – for example as fuel,

for heat generation, or as a basis

for fertilisers and chemical products.

Until now, upgrading biogas to

bio-methane has been technically

complex and hardly economical for

small plants. Conventional methods

require elaborate pre-drying and gas

scrubbing. This is precisely where

the Bio4Value project comes in: a

newly developed membrane process

that does not require pre-drying

of the biogas promises significant

simplification.

New flat membranes, developed

at Fraunhofer IAP, form the central

component. They separate methane

from CO 2 directly from the moist

biogas stream. As a result, no

additional energy is needed for

cooling and reheating the raw

biogas before membrane separation.

Long-term tests also showed that

the newly developed membranes

are resistant to hydrogen sulphide

contained in raw biogas.

CIWEM report highlights

huge opportunity ahead

(CIWEM), highlights the need to think

differently about the urgent skills gap

professionals at

water companies, local authorities,

engineering firms, consultancies, and

industry and public bodies like the

Environment Agency, the report also

highlights results from CIWEM's Member

Career Survey 2025 among its growing

community of 11,500 members.

The report, which includes the latest

figures from Energy & Utilities Skills,

highlights the critical need for an

additional 43,700 members of the

workforce in the water sector by 2030.

This 36% increase is necessary to replace

retiring members and to support the

investment expansion outlined in AMP8.

Government and

industry pledges

to spend more

than £100 billion on

water infrastructure

and flood defences

during the next

five-year planning

cycle in England and

Wales, will require

a major effort to

attract, develop

and retain people.

According to CIWEM,

this also presents

huge opportunities

for the sector and

for its members

who are optimistic,

thanks in part to the organisation's

professional development.

Katronic was contacted by a water treatment works

to verify the flow conditions within a single pipeline

The client requested this service due to the

uncertainty of the reliability of the flow

readings that were reported from their internal

measurement system. The lack of certainty was

hinder-ing daily operations, and one potential

solution was to shut down operations

temporarily in order to install an in-line

reference meter.

Rather than do this, they reached

out to Katronic. Katronic’s ultrasonic

technology offers a cost-effective, noninvasive

solution. Our engineer attended

the customer's site to complete

the measurement service. The

purpose of the visit was to

provide accurate, traceable

flow verification data for

operational reference.

Once on-site, armed with the portable

KATflow 210, our engineer completed a

successful set-up within minutes. The

built-in set-up wizard ensures accurate

placement of sensors by entering the

external pipe diameter, wall thickness and

temperature. The set-up wizard calculates and

instructs the recommended spacing for optimal

performance. The diagnostic indicators remained

stable, confirming consistent signal quality and

validating the accuracy of the setup. Making the

KATflow 210 a user-friendly, reliable and accurate

measurement solution. The enhanced battery

performance of the KATflow 210, using saver

mode, measurements were logged at a 1-second

interval, the unit could be stand-alone

on site for the 24 hours required by

the customer.

Returning to the site the

following day, it was found

strong and stable signal was

maintained throughout the

measurement period. The

recorded flowrate values

provided a good indication of

expected performance. On

average, the flowrate was

observed at approximately

430 L/s, later increasing to

around 520 L/s. The recorded

ranges were within the expected

flowrates for the site. Each flowrate

change persisted for several minutes,

with measurements taken every second,

demonstrating steady and dependable

performance from the flowmeter. Comparing

the data to the customer's internal measurement

system showed that the accuracy of the internal

system was off by 2%. This difference was

deemed to be within the range of compliance

accepted by the customer, resulting in no further

investigative action being taken.

New York City’s recent Climate Week

served as a powerful reminder of

the urgent need to address the climate

crisis. Taking place in the lead up to

COP29, one of the key takeaways

from Climate Week was the growing

recognition of the importance of

recycled materials in reducing carbon

Each year, business leaders, political

a partnership to invest $10 billion in

potential for governments to create

positive tipping points by investing

in clean technologies and phasing

out fossil fuels. These developments

installed an ultramodern non-returnable

PET line for Schweppes Zimbabwe

Limited (SZL), the bottler’s production

setup is not only much more efficient

but also saves on resources – at an

increase in capacity of 300% compared

to the replaced production line.

Until very recently, the production shop

at Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited in the

Willowvale industrial area in the capital

of Harare called for low volume outputs.

The recent installation and commissioning

of a completely new non-returnable

PET line had the beverage producer

convinced; it is equipped, among other

things, with a compact InnoPET BloFill

stretch blow molder/filler block for the

manufacture and filling of up to 36,000

containers per hour, the efficient Innoket

Neo labeler for roll-fed labeling of the

bottles, the Innopack PSP Advanced

shrink packer and the flexible Innopal

PB N palletizer. Continuous monitoring

by KHS inspection technology ensures

that only containers of perfect quality

leave the plant. There were many

reasons behind the decision to award

the Dortmund turnkey supplier the
