CLUB INFORMATION
CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES

The Central Valley Corvette Club was chartered
in 1991 for the owners of the only real
AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.
Club activities include monthly meetings, car
shows, weekend club activities, overnighters,
picnics, road rallies, summer cruises, holiday
get-togethers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is defined in
Article III, Section 1 of the bylaws in part as
follows: “Membership in Central Valley
Corvettes shall be open to all Corvette owners
who are sponsored by a member in good
standing. Additionally, a prospective member
must, within a three-month period, attend two
consecutive meetings, participate in two club
sanctioned social activities, pay current

A
membership dues and initiation fees, and be
approved by two-thirds vote of membership
present at a general membership meeting by
secret ballot.
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all members
must be a member of the association
providing club liability insurance for Central
Valley Corvettes.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings or
two sanctioned activities per CVC bylaws.
CVC membership dues are $85 plus
an initiation fee of $35. Membership entitles
an individual or couple voting privileges at
meetings (provided they are in good standing)
and membership rights. Please feel free to

The Touch of Glass Newsletter is published
monthly for the enjoyment of the members of
Central Valley Corvettes. Articles, Flyers,
Advertisements, Run Stories, Pictures, etc.
should be submitted via e-mail to
juliebomb@yahoo.com by the 25 th of each
month.

Fellow Members and Friends,
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you
for attending and supporting what turned out to be a very successful
President’s Mystery Run. Seeing so many members come together,
laugh together, and enjoy the experience reminded me once again what
makes this club so special. The friendships, participation, and family
atmosphere continue to be the true heart of our organization.
I am especially grateful for the continued support everyone shows not
only to the club itself, but to one another as family. Over the past several
weeks, the outpouring of emails, prayers, encouragement, and support
for our members and their families has been nothing short of incredible.
I was truly in awe of the show of hands and the number of members
who came together in support of Leta Ward. Moments like that define
who we are as a club far beyond the cars and the runs. It speaks volumes
about the compassion and unity within this group.
As we continue moving forward into what is shaping up to be another
outstanding run season, I couldn’t be more excited about what lies
ahead. I’m thankful that we have remained safe throughout our travels
so far, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen this club through
kindness, participation, friendship, and respect for one another.
Thank you all for your continued support, dedication, and the positive
spirit you bring to this organization. Together, we are building
something very special, and I am proud to be part of it alongside all of
you.

Clouds: Keeping Our Community in Prayer
As most of you have heard by now, Janet King is facing a
recurrence of Multiple Myeloma cancer. She was recently
admitted to the hospital due to acute kidney failure, but
thankfully, her numbers have improved after days of treatment,
and she has been discharged. She will be starting chemotherapy
soon, and since she firmly believes in the power of prayer, she is
asking for our collective prayers for her healing. Please keep both
Janet and Larry in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this
difficult journey together.
We also send our love to our sweet Dee Salazar, who has
traveled to Oregon to be with her twin sister. Her sister is
currently suffering from severe, terminal dementia brought on by
her diabetes and has been placed on hospice care. Please keep
Dee and her sister in your prayers during this emotional
transition to her heavenly home.
Additionally, Jody shared that her mom, Becky, has started
chemotherapy for her lung cancer diagnosis. Fortunately, she is
tolerating the treatments well so far, but let's continue to lift
Becky up in our prayers for a full recovery.

☀ Sunshine: Celebrating Our Milestones
Now for some wonderful news to brighten our community!
Debbie Clymore shared that Rick is doing great after his knee
replacement and is already walking around the block. He even
told his doctor that his ultimate goal is to be able to get in and
out of his Corvette. He is making great progress and is scheduled
to have his other knee done in late August.
We also send a huge congratulations to Josh King on the birth of
his new grandson, Richard James!
Our grandparents in the community have so much to be proud of
this month.
Lynne and Mike Henenfent are celebrating double successes:
their granddaughter graduated magna cum laude from Westmont
in Santa Barbara with her teaching degree, and their grandson
landed a new job as a private pilot and trainer for an aircraft
company in Tennessee.
Meanwhile, John and Cece Karlie are celebrating their grandson,
Maddox, who graduated from Merrimack in Andover,
Massachusetts. Maddox was both a stellar Division 1 track star
and an academic scholar.
Finally, Keith and Debbie shared their pride for their grandson,
who just graduated from high school and will be joining the
United States Marine Corps. We are incredibly thankful for his
dedication and future service to our country.

152nd Kentucky Derby Watch Party
at Eskender Downs Turf Club
The “fastest two minutes in sports” delivered a historic race to remember,
as Golden Tempo rallied from last place to pass favored Renegade in the
final yards, winning by a neck. History was made with Cherie DeVaux
becoming the first woman trainer to win the Kentucky Derby, while
jockey brothers Jose and Irad Ortiz finished first and second.
Appetizers were graciously provided by Mary Lou Lebda, Jan Pflepsen,
Cece Karlie, and Suzanne Mott, adding a warm and welcoming start to
the day.
A heartfelt thank-you to Chef Eric DeGroot from Roger Rocka’s for
preparing his delicious boneless beef short ribs and personally plating
each meal. His care and presentation made the lunch feel personal and
truly special.
Bruce and Sheri Garlock once again provided the tables, chairs, and
tablecloths that helped create a true Derby experience. The Kroeker
family provided tents, offering shelter from the unpredictable May
weather.
Glenn and Lorraine Henderson completed the table settings with
linen-like napkins, adding an elegant finishing touch to our Derby tables.
Kelley Ashley’s magnificent bows adorned the buffet tables, beautifully
complementing the Kentucky Derby’s signature red roses.
The afternoon concluded with Mike’s Famous Raffle, where Win honors
went to Gary Pflepsen, followed by Mary Lou Lebda for Place and Peter
Postoyan claiming Show.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped bring the Turf Club
theme to life. It was a wonderful day of fellowship, food, fun, and
Corvette Club camaraderie.
