Business News

Productivity isn’t a process

problem. It’s a leadership one.

As businesses move from rapid growth to sustainable

scale, many face a surprising new challenge: the

slowdown that comes after success. Delivery gets

inconsistent. Teams feel stretched but unfocused.

Decisions take longer. Culture frays around the edges.

On paper, the business is thriving. You’ll see under the

surface, something’s stuck.

According to Business Psychologist, Christen Gilchrist,

the root cause isn’t usually bandwidth, tools, or even

strategy. It’s behavioural. Here, she shares five highleverage

ways to build a more productive business

by strengthening the leadership conditions behind

performance.

1. Start with clarity, not control

When businesses scale quickly, role clarity often gets

left behind. People are busy though not always aligned.

Staffordshire

company goes

international

Unified communications specialists Zusi, who recently

rebranded as part of their ongoing expansion plans, is

opening a brand-new office in Cape Town, South Africa.

Zusi, whose main headquarters is in Newcastle-under-

Lyme, is opening the office this month and has already

recruited a 20-strong team. Roles include business

development positions and communications specialists.

The move builds on its UK expansion plans which in

the last twelve months alone has seen ten extra staff

recruited, a brand-new website launched and a move to

much bigger offices.

With a focus on tailoring their services to meet their

clients’ specific needs, Zusi has also launched new

services to help businesses harness the power of

Internet of Things (IoT), enabling smarter connectivity,

improved efficiency, and real-time data insights.

Founded in 2014, the company specialise in

transforming communications for SMEs and large

corporates, taking pressure off in-house resource by

fully managing connectivity and unified communications

solutions, with a completely customer focused, tailored

approach.

Its services include:

● Unified Communications

● Mobile tariffs and handsets

● Connectivity including Broadband, Ethernet, Fibre

and Wi-Fi

● IT security and support

Work overlaps, decisions stall and delivery slows.

2. Make one-to-ones your frontline performance tool

If your one-to-ones are purely check-ins or performance

reviews, you’re missing their real value. When structured

right, they’re one of the most powerful ways to surface

blockers, re-align priorities, & spot burnout before it hits.

3. Reduce decisions at the top

In a high-growth environment, founders and senior

leaders become bottlenecks without realising it. Every

decision still routes through them and eventually, it

breaks.

4. Stop assuming your culture is still fit for scale

Culture often lags behind the business model. What

worked when you were a tight-knit team of 20 no longer

holds when you’re 150. Informal processes become

New Year New You?

The end of the year often sparks

reflection: on where we’ve been,

what we’ve achieved, and where

we want to go next in our work

lives. But for author, business

leader, and founder of Career

Sistas, Beverly Vanterpool, it’s not

about waiting for January 1st to

begin again.

Networking, building connections

and ‘getting yourself out there’,

often slip down the to-do list

because they can feel awkward and

uncomfortable. In fact, a July 2025

survey (reported on LinkedIn) found

that 73% of professionals actively

dread networking events.

Her debut book, Build Your Table: Find Career Clarity,

Make Bold Pivots, and Thrive – Even When the System

Isn’t Built for You (Career Sistas, out now), offers the

blueprint to do exactly that.

Drawing on two decades in global

corporations, an MBA from Cambridge,

and her lived experience as a Black

woman, introvert, and immigrant

navigating UK corporate life, Beverly

shares how to build success on your

own terms NOW rather than waiting

for permission or a new year to begin;

through her Four Pillars: Knowledge,

Community, Opportunity, and Visibility.

Through her new book, podcast (Stories

by Career Sistas), and the wider Career

Sistas community, Beverly helps women

start the change before January, so they

enter the new year already in motion.

Build Your Table is for every woman ready

to take bold, intentional steps before the year ends…

not after it.

Half of tech buyers rank trust

above cost

Trust has emerged as the single most important

factor in B2B tech purchasing decisions, outranking

cost, innovation and delivery speed, according to new

research from award-winning tech PR agency,

EC-PR.

While Edelman’s Trust Barometer has

highlighted trust as a defining challenge

for businesses, EC-PR commissioned

research in collaboration with 3Gem

specifically focused on mid-sized

technology companies to better

understand what influences their

clients’ buyers.

EC-PR’s report clearly signposts the

specific actions tech vendors can

take to secure the Trust Advantage –

from how they communicate pricing to

how they demonstrate expertise during the

discovery phase.

The Trust Advantage reports on a survey of 200 senior

technology buyers from mid-sized companies across five

sectors: Defence, IT & Tech, Manufacturing and Science

& Engineering, revealing that 50% prioritise trust above

chaos and old norms don’t scale.

5. Measure behaviours, not just outputs

High-performing teams share habits. They close

feedback loops quickly. They surface issues early. They

take ownership. These behaviours don’t happen by

accident – they’re modelled, recognised & embedded.

www.corepotentialsolutions.com

all other considerations when selecting vendors.

The research highlights a fundamental shift in

procurement priorities, particularly as economic

pressures mount. Nearly half (49%) of buyers report

that trust becomes “much more important” during

economic downturns, directly influencing

decisions worth millions of pounds.

A critical finding reveals that 28%

of buyers struggle most to trust

vendors during the research and

discovery stage – before any

sales engagement takes place.

This period, when potential

clients evaluate websites, content

and credentials independently,

represents the biggest trust hurdle in

the buying journey.

The findings suggest that PR, thought

leadership and brand visibility are no longer optional

marketing activities, but essential trust-building

mechanisms that influence procurement outcomes.

New GCE industrial website built around user

needs, offers easier navigation and better access

to support

GCE has launched its new Industrial

website – www.gce-industrial.

com – a dedicated digital destination

that makes it easier for customers

to find industrial gas control, cutting

and welding products, information

and support. The website features

user-centric navigation built around

real search behaviour rather than

assumptions about how products

should be organised.

The new site groups GCE’s offerings

into major categories – torches

and nozzles, regulators, valves,

automated cutting, gas generators,

central gas – with pop-up menus that further

clarify product categories (eg. the regulator

menu displays options for cylinder regulators,

technical grade regulators, propane regulators,

flashback arrestors and hoses). After selecting

a category, products are ranked in order with

the most popular, highest interest and new

products appearing at the top of the page. Filters

then enable users to specify exact product

requirements to narrow choices (eg. selecting

regulators by inlet pressure, gas type, outlet

pressure, flow range, product line name, and

product type).

YMT announced as

official UK dealer for

FANUC ROBODRILL

“With the launch of gce-industrial.com,

customers can find what they want faster

because it uses a flatter structure so that

products are not buried several layers deep,”

says Shaun Heys, Marketing Communications

Manager, GCE. “We have modernised our digital

presence to showcase our portfolio in a way

that meets the needs of how customers search,

browse, and buy today.”

To find a distributor, connect with sales

personnel, or locate regional offices,

clear calls to action guide users from

product and application pages directly

to contact pages. Those contact

pathways are tailored by region, helping

users move quickly from product search

to the right local GCE resource.

In addition to improved navigation,

the site offers richer product pages

with updated descriptions, technical

data, downloadable product sheets,

and instructions for use. Visitors can

also explore application content across

areas such as fabrication, HVAC,

shipbuilding, automated cutting and

transport, while support tools make it easier

to get in touch, locate distributors and access

documentation and certifications.

The site is the third of GCE Group’s vertical

websites and completes the company’s

transition away from its legacy all-in-one GCE

Group site to a more focused digital structure

for its industrial, medical and specialty gas

audiences.

New White Paper: Why Isolation

Adapters Are Used with Vibration

We’re excited to share our latest White

Paper: ‘Why Isolation Adapters Are

Used with Vibration’.

Introduction

Vibration sensors are used in a wide variety

of applications to monitor vibrations in

machinery and equipment. This monitoring

is crucial for detecting faults early and

preventing failures. However, in many

industrial environments, vibration sensors

are exposed to harsh conditions that can

affect their performance and accuracy.

The role of isolation adapters

● Protection against electrical

interference: In industrial

environments, electrical interference

can occur, which can distort the

measurement signals from vibration

sensors. Isolation adapters provide

an electrical barrier that reduces

this interference and improves

signal quality.

● Filtering high-frequency vibrations:

In different applications, highfrequency

vibrations that overlap the

frequencies important for diagnostics

and machine monitoring can make

evaluation impossible. Isolation

adapters reliably filter out the highfrequency

components of vibrations.

● Thermal isolation: In some

applications, extreme temperatures

can affect the performance of

vibration sensors. Isolation adapters

with thermal insulation properties

protect the sensors from these

temperature influences.

Conclusion

Isolation adapters are essential

components in many applications that

use vibration sensors. They protect the

sensors from electrical, mechanical,

and thermal influences, enable easy

installation, and contribute to improving

measurement accuracy. By using

isolation adapters, companies can

increase the reliability of their machinery

and equipment and avoid failures.

GCE Mach2 auto-darkening helmet brings natural

colour visibility and multi-process versatility to

welders

GCE ® has introduced its

Mach2 auto-darkening

welding helmet, designed

to enable operators to

work with greater clarity,

comfort and versatility

across welding, cutting

and grinding applications.

The Mach2 features GCE’s

advanced ColorView lens

technology, which allows

users to see the workpiece

in natural colours rather

than the green-tinted

view often associated

with traditional helmets.

This clearer, more realistic

view helps operators see

the weld puddle better and

differentiate it from the

workpiece, supporting more

precise bead placement and

reducing eye strain during long

shifts.

The Mach2 delivers flexibility and productivity on the

shop floor with three operating modes (Weld, Cut

and Grind) and easy parameter adjustments made

from digital controls inside the helmet. Weld Mode

supports MMA, MIG/MAG, flux

cored and TIG welding with

variable shade control

from 8-13. Grind Mode

fixes the lens at shade

3 to provide visibility

of the workpiece and

eliminate the need to

switch to a grinding shield.

Cut mode provides shade

levels 5 through 8.

For Weld and Cut modes,

Sensitivity and Delay

(0.1 to 1.0 second)

controls further tailor

performance to match the

application. For example,

a high sensitivity/short

delay for TIG welding at low

amperages or low sensitivity/

high delay for high amperages

helps protect the eyes from

the bright afterglow once the arc

stops.

“GCE developed the Mach2 helmet to give metal

fabricators a better visual experience and greater

day-to-day flexibility,” said Amil Anwar, Business

Development and Product Manager. “With ColorView

lens technology and dedicated modes, users can

move from task to task with the visibility, protection

and convenience they need to stay productive.”

Performance with value

The Mach2 auto-darkening filter (ADF) offers a

1/1/1/2 optical class rating for a sharp, clear and

consistent view of the weld puddle. The ADF has

a viewing area of 95 x 40mm and reacts in 0.05

milliseconds (1/23,000th of a second; an eye blink

averages 100 milliseconds, or 1/10th of a second).

The helmet uses two arc sensors and is powered

by solar cells with a replaceable CR2450 lithium

battery. It complies with EN ISO 16321-2: 2021 on

personal protective equipment and is CE marked.

Operator comfort also played a central role in the

helmet’s design. The headgear’s two-strap design

helps decrease perceived helmet weight; a third,

rear strap and integrated comfort cushion pad

improve balance and reduce neck strain. A quickrelease

rail-type headgear system also enables

easy, precise adjustment of the distance between

the eyes and lens.

are pleased to feature Fuelco UK as our Fuel

Storage Solutions Company of the Month

Fuelco is a leading provider of

fuel storage and dispensing

solutions, serving a diverse

range of industries across

the globe. With more than

30 years of manufacturing

experience, the company has

built a reputation for delivering

reliable, high-quality products

supported by exceptional

customer service and longterm

industry partnerships.

A significant milestone

in Fuelco’s growth came in November 2016 when

the company was acquired by the Eredyne Group.

This acquisition strengthened Fuelco’s modular fuel

storage tank capabilities and significantly expanded

its international presence. Today, Fuelco operates

across Oceania, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South

America, and Europe, establishing itself as a truly global

organisation with the expertise and infrastructure to

support customers wherever they operate.

Fuelco’s global headquarters are located in Dubai, with

additional branches in Australia,

the United States, South Africa,

and the UK. Alongside its own

facilities, the company works

closely with strategic partners

solutions, competitive pricing, and expert support from a

team committed to building lasting relationships rather

than simply supplying equipment.

With a clear vision to become the first name considered

for any fuel equipment

requirement, Fuelco continues

to strengthen its position in the

market. As the company says,

“When Quality Matters, Call

Fuelco.” We spoke to Klint Mills,

National Sales Manager – UK

& Ireland, who explained the

company’s current position,

“Fuelco is currently experiencing

record growth, driven by increasing

demand for our KUBE fuel

storage range, expansion into

European markets, new strategic

partnerships, and the upcoming

arrival of our 2026 product range. The KUBE has

become a popular choice for customers seeking robust,

are particularly proud of our growing reputation within

the plant hire, construction, power generation, and

aviation sectors, where customers continue to choose

Fuelco for quality, reliability, and service.”

We also heard from John-Ross Flanegan, UK General

Manager, “The business continues to grow at around

20% per annum, and we

don’t see it slowing down.

New market entries will be

announced over the next

12 months. We have seen

considerable expansion into

the data centre industry over

the past 3 years.”

It is clear that Fuelco has

continued its strong growth

trajectory in recent years, both

in terms of market presence

and product demand. Over

the last 12 months, the company has achieved several

notable milestones, including the expansion of its

stockist and distribution network through strategic

partnerships that have strengthened its presence across

the UK.

Fuelco has also continued the development of its

Aviation Fuel Transfer Package (AFTP) range, supporting

defence, humanitarian, and commercial aviation

sectors. Increased manufacturing capacity and stock

investment have helped reduce lead times and support

growing customer demand.

Additional initiatives include the localisation of

marketing and product support materials for European

markets, with multilingual brochures, product labels,

and compliance documentation, as well as continued

investment in product development, customer service,

and operational excellence.

“Looking ahead, we are particularly excited about

the arrival of our new 2026 stock range and the

opportunities this presents for further expansion across

the UK and Europe,” says Klint.

“Fuelco’s recent growth reflects our commitment to

delivering dependable fuel storage solutions while

building long-term partnerships with customers who

share our focus on quality, reliability, and performance.

Our ambition is clear: to become the preferred choice

for the design, development, manufacture, installation,

and service of fuel and lubricant storage systems and

dispensing equipment worldwide.”

With continued international

expansion, sustained

investment in product

development, and strong

demand across key sectors,

Fuelco appears well positioned

to build on its success and

further strengthen its standing

within the global fuel storage

and handling industry.

Oil, Gas & Offshore

Oliver Twinsafe supports ultra-deepwater FPSO

development offshore Brazil

Oliver Twinsafe has secured an order

for a 2-piece, 2” Class 300 RF valve in

Alloy 625 for deployment on a series of

deepwater Floating Production Storage

and Offloading units operating offshore

Brazil.

The order supports a new generation of

FPSOs being developed for some of the

most demanding offshore environments

in the world. Installed in water depths

of more than 2,000 metres, these

facilities are being designed to deliver

high-capacity oil production alongside

large-scale gas processing, underlining

the need for dependable, high-integrity

valve technology throughout the topside

process systems.

FPSOs continue to play a critical role

in unlocking offshore reserves where

fixed infrastructure is not practical,

particularly in ultra-deepwater regions

such as Brazil. In these applications,

material performance, corrosion

resistance and long-term reliability are

essential. Manufactured in Alloy 625, the valve

has been specified to meet the challenges

associated with harsh offshore service and

the demanding operating conditions typical of

deepwater production assets.

Construction of the FPSOs is being

undertaken across multiple international

shipyards, with local content

requirements forming an important part

of the overall project execution strategy.

The programme also reflects a broader

shift in offshore development, with

operators placing increasing emphasis

not only on production efficiency, but

also on environmental performance.

These next-generation platforms are

being developed with a strong focus on

reducing greenhouse gas emissions per

barrel of oil equivalent, helping position

them among the more energy-efficient

FPSO facilities in Brazilian waters.

For Oliver Twinsafe, the order represents

another example of British engineering

supporting major offshore energy

projects where quality, reliability and

proven material expertise remain

paramount.

365 Finance announces

expansion into Ireland

The Republic of Ireland represents

a natural first new market for 365

Finance, given similar characteristics

from a regulatory, legal and

commercial perspective.

Award-winning SME lender 365

Finance has expanded into the

Republic of Ireland, supporting the

growth of Irish businesses and entering

the EU marketplace.

The funder’s international growth

strategy is to leverage the company’s

highly automated AI-powered lending

platform in other markets.

365 Finance has advanced over

£500 million to UK-based SMEs since

inception in 2014, and has used more

than a decade’s worth of lending data

to build an AI-focused lending platform

using Salesforce and AWS architecture.

While still forecasting tremendous

growth in the UK, this proprietary

lending platform will allow the funder

to enter new markets efficiently.

SMEs in the Republic of Ireland are

similarly constrained when it comes

to accessing finance from banks, with

365 Finance being confident that its

revenue-based product will be well

received by small to medium sized

businesses seeking working capital

finance.

The Republic of Ireland is the ideal

springboard into the rest of Europe,

and after demonstrating the scalability

of 365 Finance’s funding platform in

its first Euro market, the lender will be

looking to add new EU markets to their

roadmap.

Offering €10,000 to €250,000 to

SMEs in the Republic of Ireland, with

no hidden fees or fixed terms, 365

Finance provides fast and flexible

funding which can support businesses

during seasonal periods and with

Engineering safety for heavy industry

In this issue of Business and Industry Today, we are pleased to feature

Davis Derby as our Site Safety Solutions Company of the Month

Founded in 1779 by Gabriel Davis, Davis

Derby has built a long-standing reputation as

a specialist manufacturer of electronic safety

products and control and monitoring systems

for demanding industrial environments.

Originally established in Leeds before relocating

to Derby, where the company now operates

from a single site in Alfreton, Davis Derby has

evolved over more than two centuries into a

globally recognised business serving the mining,

quarrying and materials handling industries.

Site Safety Solutions Company of the Month

The company designs and manufactures

technology solutions that enhance safety,

compliance and operational performance across

mines, quarries, warehouses and conveyor-based

systems worldwide. From advanced monitoring

equipment for extraction industries to forklift

truck access control systems with pre-operational

safety checks, Davis Derby’s products are

developed to protect workers while helping

businesses optimise efficiency in challenging

environments.

A key factor behind the company’s longevity

is its ability to adapt products to meet the

specific requirements of individual customers.

Davis Derby is known throughout the sector for

producing highly durable, dependable systems

capable of withstanding harsh operating

conditions. Its flexibility has also enabled the

company to develop hundreds of variations of its

pullkey systems in response to bespoke customer

requirements and operational challenges.

The business works closely with engineers and

operators in quarries, mines and industrial

facilities where conveyor systems are widely

used. This hands-on approach includes site

visits and surveys to better understand customer

requirements and provide tailored solutions

to complex safety and operational issues. By

combining practical industry knowledge with

innovative engineering, Davis Derby continues

to support businesses in improving workplace

safety and maintaining compliance.

Today, Davis Derby is recognised as a trusted

specialist within its industry, with a reputation

built on quality, reliability and technical expertise.

Its systems are used internationally to support

safer and more efficient operations in some of

the world’s most demanding industrial sectors.

Despite the company’s long heritage, innovation

remains central to its approach, ensuring its

products continue to evolve alongside the

changing needs of modern industry.

Guided by the philosophy of “protecting people

and optimising plant in potentially hazardous

environments”, Davis Derby continues to

combine centuries of engineering heritage with

forward-thinking technology solutions designed

to keep industrial operations safe, compliant and

productive.

One area of particular focus is the company’s

pullkey systems, which improve safety and

operational efficiency across conveyor systems

used in quarries, mines, warehouses and

other industrial settings. Built for demanding

conditions, the systems provide a reliable

emergency stop solution that allows operators

to quickly halt machinery in the event of a fault

or safety concern. Known for their durability and

ease of use, Davis Derby pullkeys are engineered

to deliver consistent long-term performance in

harsh environments.

One of the system’s major advantages is its

flexible pullkey numbering capability, which

helps operators and engineers identify the exact

location of an activated or faulted pullkey along a

conveyor line. This significantly reduces downtime

by enabling maintenance teams to respond

quickly and accurately to incidents. Depending

on operational requirements, Davis Derby offers

a range of numbering and indication options,

including sequential numbering systems and

location-specific identification linked to conveyor

zones or site layouts. These options provide a

clear visual indication of where a pullkey has

been operated, enabling faster fault finding and

improved response times.

Paul Bouskill, Business Manager, adds, “Some

of these conveyors can be 1,000 to 1,500m

long and with pullkeys every 50m, it is a lot of

pullkeys, so knowing exactly where the fault is

could save hours.”

The systems can also be tailored to meet specific

site requirements, reflecting Davis Derby’s

customer-focused approach to operational safety

and performance.

Hillhead 2026 will provide Davis Derby with the

opportunity to showcase its latest equipment in

a real-life quarry environment to professionals

from across the quarrying, mining and industrial

sectors.

Located in the main pavilion at Stand

PD2, Davis Derby will be available to meet

existing customers while also welcoming new

connections. The company will showcase its

cutting-edge equipment, developed to deliver

substantial cost savings and significantly reduce

business downtime.

Among the featured products will be the

Green beer,

a new type of

heat pump

A pioneering heat pump project at a Sussex brewery

is helping it to radically reduce energy use and costs

– promising to slash bills for wort boiling by more than

65%.

Last year the family-owned Hepworth Brewery became

the first in the UK to trial a new type of heat pump,

developed by Surbiton start-up Futraheat, to deliver

low-carbon heat to the brewing process. Heat, delivered

through high temperature steam, is a vital component

of brewing, and many other industrial processes, and is

usually delivered by boilers running on gas or fuel oil.

Unlike most heat pumps, which deliver hot water up to

around 80°C, the Futraheat Greensteam 300kW heat

pump can produce steam up to 130°C.

At Hepworth, the new system recovers waste heat at

100°C, previously vented to atmosphere, and upgrades

it to process steam between 120°C and 130°C.

This steam is then resupplied to the brewing kettle,

displacing the need for the fossil-fuel derived heat. Now,

with months of operations under its belt, the heat pump

has shown its potential to radically reduce the brewer’s

reliance on a CO 2 -emitting oil boiler and allow it to switch

much of its heat requirement for wort boiling to the

electrically powered heat pump.

The project enabled the Greensteam heat pump to move

from technology readiness level TRL 5 to TRL 9, with

over 70 hours of operation at kettle boiling conditions,

equivalent to 35 brews and around 500,000 pints of

beer production.

Heat pumps deliver sustainable

heating to savannah animals

Mitsubishi Electric air

source heat pumps are now

providing renewable heating

to the zebra, ostrich, and

roan antelope habitats at

Chester Zoo’s ‘Heart of Africa’

zone, as part of its ongoing

partnership to support the

zoo’s decarbonisation journey.

Chester Zoo is one of the

most popular paid attractions

outside London and home

to more than 30,000 animals. Having committed

to becoming carbon net zero in scope one and two

emissions by 2030, the zoo has been working closely

with Mitsubishi Electric to decarbonise heating and

cooling across its 130-acre estate.

The latest project involved the installation of two

Mitsubishi Electric CAHV commercial heat pumps

which help keep the habitat of the zebra, ostrich

and roan antelope as warm as the African savannah.

The heat pumps deliver 80kW of heat capacity to

Fewer workplace accidents: prevention of

chemical burns when refilling chemicals

the building, with radiant

panels heating each area, and

providing the ideal temperature

for each species, ranging from

18 to 24 degrees.

The partnership has already

seen Mitsubishi Electric

provide air conditioning and

renewable heating to the luxury

guest lodges in the zoo’s new

‘Heart of Africa’ zone.

Mitsubishi Electric has also supplied air source heat

pumps, air conditioning and ventilation to The Square,

the zoo’s conference and events venue. Additionally,

six Ecodan air source heat pumps have been installed

in the habitat for the endangered Eastern Black Rhino,

with a further seven units fitted at the zoo’s purposebuilt

butterfly habitat.

Lutz Holding expands into Italy

Lutz Holding GmbH, a German group of

companies specialising in professional

fluid management, is expanding its

international presence. The new

branch office ‘Lutz-Jesco Italia

Srl’ in Milan is set to become the

foundation for long-term growth

in one of Europe’s key regions.

The new branch office builds upon

an established sales partnership

with the renowned Italian pump

manufacturer ARGAL.

The Italian market has gained increasing

importance for Lutz Holding in recent

years. “Italy has a strong industrial base and is

one of the key markets in Southern Europe for water

and wastewater technology, chemical dosing and

environmental technology,” says Susanne Maurer,

member of the management board of Lutz Holding

GmbH and CEO of Lutz-Jesco Italia Srl. In these sectors,

the group’s industrial pumps and water treatment

technologies are playing an increasingly important role.

“The new branch office strengthens our local presence,

enabling us to assist customers in Italy more

effectively throughout the entire process

– from planning and commissioning to

after-sales service.”

Going forward, Lutz-Jesco Italia

Srl will offer the entire Lutz Group

product portfolio. This includes

pumping, dosing and water

treatment solutions for industrial,

municipal and environmental

applications. In this context, the

company works closely with ARGAL,

an Italian pump manufacturer based in

Brescia. “We are pleased to have ARGAL

as a strong partner at our side, bringing many

years of experience and in-depth market knowledge in

Italy – and with whom we also share a long-standing

friendship,” Susanne Maurer emphasises. “Together,

we aim to pool our expertise, create synergies and

develop customised, high-performance solutions for our

customers.”

www.lutz-holding.de/en

The handling of aggressive chemicals leads to hundreds of

deaths in the USA every year. Yet many workers are still filling

hazardous substances such as sodium hypochlorite, acids, and

alkalis manually, warns Markus Seitenberg, managing director

of industrial pump specialist Lutz Pumps North America. To

improve safety, a new pump tube made of chlorinated polyvinyl

chloride (CPVC) aims to reduce the risk of spills and injuries.

The pump tube is designed as a vertical immersion pump. With

an immersion depth of 39 inches, it can be inserted directly

into drums and canisters. An electrically or pneumatically

operated motor can be attached on top.

The motor drives a radial impeller via a shaft, which guides

the medium into a conveying line through centrifugal force.

This enables the safe conveying of up to 25 gal/min (95 l/min)

without any risk of spillage. An optional dispensing nozzle and

flow meter enable targeted dispensing.

The pump tube is made of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride

(CPVC). This makes it resistant to chemicals and ideal for

transporting not only sodium hypochlorite, but also alkalis

(including caustic soda and potash lye), precipitating and

flocculating agents (including iron or aluminum salts), and

cleaning and rinsing chemicals. Additional safety is provided by

the fact that the design does not use any seals on parts that

come into contact with the medium. This reduces the risk of

leaks.

While PVDF versions offer similar chemical resistance, the

CPVC model is significantly more economical – often 20-30%

lower in price based on market comparisons – without

compromising performance for suitable media. This makes it

an ideal choice for budget-conscious operations that demand

durability and safety.

are native to the UK. This includes

blossoming trees, fruit trees like apples

and damsons, and large canopy tree

varieties to encourage nesting birds.

Once available, any fruit grown onsite

will be offered to the canteen.

XPO Logistics’ headquarters in Crick

will soon have another benefit – honey

made by bees in hives on the site.

One hive is currently in place, but a

maximum of five will eventually be on

the site. The honey produced will be

provided to the cafeteria and offered to

staff and visitors.

Wildflowers and herbs – which will be

available again for the cafeteria or staff

to use – will be planted in 30 planter

boxes and 20 wall box racks.

A wormery will also take care of some

Hillhead to implement ISO sustainability standard

● Encouraging the use of refillable water bottles

on-site by providing free access to chilled and

filtered water, saving the equivalent of 16,000

bottles at Hillhead 2024

● Promoting a car sharing scheme to reduce the

number of journeys to and from the site

● Working closely with the contractors to ensure

they are delivering more sustainable solutions

for the exhibitors and visitors

The event organisers take their environmental

responsibilities seriously. They continually review

their operational impact in order to reduce

their carbon footprint and make the event more

sustainable.

In recent years this has included among other

measures:

● Removing all single use plastic from site since

2022

● Transitioning from diesel to HVO to power

all the site structures, including the 2 large

exhibitor pavilions

● Re-using or recycling all the interior show

graphics and carpets, giving them a second

life

● Using solar powered generators for lighting

towers, security cameras and other

functionality

● Increasing the scope and volume of the

recycling facilities around the site

The Hillhead site is both challenging and unique,

but the organisers are determined this should

not prevent them from trying to make further

improvements where they can.

In 2026, The QMJ Group will be committed to

implementing British Standard ISO 20121:2024

which is a framework that has been developed to

“enable sustainability to be considered at every

decision point during the planning and delivery of

an event.”

The standard allows organisations to show first

party conformity through self-declaration by:

engaging with stakeholders, collaborating with

the supply chain, creating policies and action

plans and regularly communicating and reviewing

progress. Through implementing this standard,

the organisers aim to establish a way of working

and a culture where sustainability is considered

at every decision point.

The UK’s leading quarrying and construction

equipment show is already ahead of its 2024

trajectory with Hillhead 2026 set to surpass 600

exhibitors.

Event Director, Richard Bradbury, explains,

“We are delighted to have all the major OEMs

confirmed for the show, and we are seeing

that momentum spread across all areas of the

showground as the appetite for both indoor and

outdoor space continues to build.”

Hillhead 2026 takes place from 23-25 June at

Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton, Derbyshire.

latest technological innovations and strengthen

its presence in the international market. During

the exhibition, visitors will have the chance to

discover the advanced engineering solutions

developed by Pemo Pumps for handling

abrasive, corrosive, and high-density fluids in

demanding industrial environments.

The highlight of Pemo Pumps’ participation

at Hillhead 2026 will be the presentation of

the new AUS VE pump, an innovative solution

designed to meet the growing needs of

efficiency, reliability, and reduced maintenance

costs. This new pump represents a significant

technological breakthrough because it is

capable of operating dry without damage and

without the use of mechanical seals. These

features make the AUS VE an ideal solution for

industries where operational continuity and low

maintenance are essential.

Traditional pumps often rely on mechanical seals

that are subject to wear and require regular

maintenance or replacement. Seal failures

can lead to leakage, downtime, and increased

operating costs. The AUS VE pump eliminates

these critical issues through an advanced

design that improves reliability while reducing

maintenance interventions. The ability to run dry

safely is another major advantage, especially in

applications where interruptions in fluid flow may

occur unexpectedly. This capability helps prevent

damage to the pump and ensures greater

operational security.

At Hillhead 2026, Pemo Pumps will demonstrate

how the AUS VE combines robust construction

with innovative technology to deliver superior

performance even in harsh working conditions.

The company’s technical team will be available

to explain the pump's operating principles, its

advantages over conventional systems, and

the various industrial applications where it can

provide substantial benefits.

The participation in Hillhead 2026 confirms

Pemo Pumps’ commitment to continuous

innovation and customer-oriented engineering.

By introducing the AUS VE, the company aims

to provide industries with a more efficient,

sustainable, and reliable pumping solution

capable of reducing downtime and optimising

production processes.

With this new technology, Pemo Pumps

continues to strengthen its reputation as a

trusted partner for industrial pumping systems

worldwide, offering solutions that combine

durability, advanced engineering, and high

operational efficiency.

Practical barrier solutions for

demanding quarry environments

For a quarry manager, choosing a barrier system

is rarely just about putting a line on the ground;

it is about keeping people safe, maintaining

traffic flow, protecting working areas, and

ensuring the site operates efficiently under harsh

conditions. Under constant pressure to manage

vehicle routes, separate

plant from pedestrians,

and control access

without causing handling

delays, managers need

robust products that can

withstand repeated use

in rugged environments

with heavy traffic and

shifting layouts.

That is where the Manta

Barrier range from MJK

Manufacturing can

help, delivering the

real-world durability

needed to maintain safe,

practical working zones

while supporting wider

commercial and environmental goals.

Manta Barrier is a hot dip galvanised steel

temporary vehicle restraint barrier rated T2 W7

to EN 1317 for speeds up to 80kph. For quarry

managers, this gives confidence where a crashtested

temporary restraint solution is required.

A key advantage is that Manta Barrier remains

crash rated with a fence attached and does not

require a separate additional bar to achieve

its crash rating. That helps reduce complexity

on site, simplify deployment and support a

cleaner, more practical

installation. Holes in

the base also allow

anchoring pins where

additional anchoring is

required.

Alongside this, Manta

Barrier LITE offers

a different solution

for traffic delineation

and site separation.

Weighing just 26kg, it

can be repositioned

quickly and easily,

helping reduce set up

challenges and allowing

site layouts to be

adapted as operational

needs change. While not crash tested, it offers

a durable steel alternative to plastic water-filled

barriers for defining routes, creating work zones

and separating activities. Like the Manta Barrier,

holes in the base allow anchoring pins to be

used where additional stability is required.

Both barriers can be powder coated in various

colours and gates can be attached, helping

quarry managers tailor layouts, improve visibility

and control access more effectively across the

site.

Manufactured in the UK, the Manta barrier

system offers dependable supply and local

support. Built from steel for long-term durability

and repeated use, both products can be recycled

at the end of their service life, supporting

sustainability objectives.

Whether the requirement is temporary traffic

delineation or site separation, Manta Barrier

provides practical solutions designed for the

realities of modern quarry operations.

fibo Collect: Three years of innovation

in sustainable ready-to-collect

concrete, mortar, and screed systems

The Inliner solution contains up to ten

aggregate hoppers to produce loose

aggregates

In just three years, fibo Collect UK has grown into the

nation’s leading supplier of ready-to-collect concrete,

mortar, and screed systems, with installations now

operating at a range of construction businesses across

the UK, including builders merchants and recycled sand

and aggregate yards.

What began in 2023 as a simple idea, giving local

trades fast access to small volumes of concrete, has

quickly evolved into a growing network of self-service

batching systems. Working closely alongside Danish

manufacturers fibo Intercon, the company has remained

committed to continuously innovating and refining the

system to meet the evolving needs of the UK market.

The fibo Collect Inliner Solution for

concrete, mortar, screed and loose

aggregates

An opportunity in loose aggregates

While the majority of UK owners sport the fibo Collect

F1200 Model, the ultimate solution for concrete, mortar,

and screed production. The systems are not one size

fits all, they’re custom made to fit different sites and

requirements.

The fibo Collect ‘Inliner solution’ is a new addition to

the UK market. It combines the bespoke features of

the concrete, mortar, and screed system with up to ten

10-25m 3 aggregate hoppers, designed to expand the

drive-thru concept beyond batching and into automated

loose aggregate sales.

The switch to loose aggregates is via a Robotic Pivoting

Conveyor belt, so all materials can be delivered via a

unified conveyor belt for one drive-thru system. The

solution has the potential to eliminate labour costs,

speeding up loading times and freeing up loading

shovels for bigger jobs on the yard. It will also increase

the margin on small collect customers. The solution

reflects the company’s ongoing focus on innovation,

helping adopters maximise

the value of their

investment.

Integrated recycling

system

A standout of the

fibo Collect system

is the commitment

to sustainability

demonstrated by both

the manufacturer and

supplier. From material

reuse to water recycling,

the technology has been

developed with the aim

of reducing waste and

supporting more circular construction practices.

One area where this is already gaining interest is

within recycling and aggregate recovery operations.

Some operators are now producing high-quality sand

and gravel from materials that would otherwise be

sent to landfill. Using washing systems, construction

waste is processed to recover reusable aggregates,

creating a secondary material stream suitable to

use in the fibo Collect system, ready for concrete

and mortar production,

reducing their reliance on

primary extraction and

supporting a more circular

construction model.

Sustainability is also

engineered directly into the

batching technology itself.

A key innovation of the fibo

Collect is the automated

self-cleaning mixer,

designed to reduce both

water use and operational

waste. The mixer uses nine

high-powered jet nozzles to

remove residual material

after each production

cycle, directing washout

water into a three-stage

separation system. This

process filters aggregates,

separates fine residues,

and stores clean reusable

water, enabling recycled water to be reintroduced into

new batches while keeping production areas cleaner

and more efficient.

In 2026, fibo Collect advanced further with the launch

of fibo Loop, creating the first fully circular washout

loop in the collect batching sector. Recycled water is

now reused not only in batching but also to power the

automated cleaning cycle itself, closing the washout

loop entirely. The result is dramatically reduced

water consumption, lower discharge, cleaner sites,

and improved operational efficiency. By closing the

washout loop, fibo Collect and fibo Loop deliver a nextgeneration,

self-sustaining production system, redefining

sustainable collect batching technology.

Building the support behind the systems

Over three years, fibo Collect UK’s install network has

grown massively. 23 locations will be live in the UK and

Ireland by summer’s end. Alongside this, the company

has focused on building the infrastructure required to

support operators long-term.

Customers can collect volumes as small as

0.25m 3 from fibo Collect systems

The fibo Collect concept will soon be live

in 23 locations across the UK and Ireland

An in-house technical

team carries out routine

maintenance visits across

the country, ensuring

every machine operates

reliably and remains in

peak condition. Operator

training and performance

monitoring are also key

to maintaining consistent

output across the network.

During each installation,

the team spends two

days on site with yard

operatives, providing

hands-on training to

support what is often a

new operational addition for businesses introducing

on-site batching for the first time.

Alongside technical support, fibo Collect UK operates a

dedicated marketing and lead-generation programme to

help operators promote the service locally, generating

awareness and early interest from trades before the first

batch is produced.

With further installations planned throughout 2026, fibo

Collect UK remains focused

on supporting its growing

base of operators, ensuring

each system is backed by the

technical expertise, training,

and marketing support

needed to make a successful

addition to their business.

What to expect at HillHead

Keeping heavy-duty equipment

moving: Eliminating pivot wear for

safer, more productive operations

In mining and quarrying extraction, construction

operations and waste management productivity

hinges on one thing: keeping machines running.

From excavators and wheel loaders to material

handlers, haul trucks and compactors, every

component must perform reliably under though

conditions. Yet one persistent issue continues

to undermine uptime and efficiency across

operations – pivot wear.

Pivot points, such as boom mountings, bucket

linkages, and suspension joints, are exposed

to constant dynamic loads. Over time, this

leads to lug wear, resulting in unwanted play,

misalignment, and ultimately premature

component failure.

Traditionally, fixing these issues is both timeconsuming

and costly. Maintenance teams are

often forced to rely on welding, line boring, or

even torching seized pins – procedures that

not only extend downtime but also introduce

safety risks. In many cases, these repairs are

temporary, as traditional pin designs do little to

prevent wear from recurring.

A shift away from reactive maintenance

Across these sectors, there is growing

recognition that pivot-related maintenance has

a disproportionate impact on both operational

efficiency and overall cost control. Frequent

repairs, unplanned downtime, and shortened

equipment life cycles all contribute to increased

overhead – whether on construction site, in a

quarry or at a recycling facility.

Modern heavy equipment

operations are therefore

shifting toward solutions that

eliminate the root cause of

wear, rather than repeatedly

addressing its symptoms.

One such solution is Expander ® System, designed

to create a tight, secure fit within worn lugs. By

eliminating play in joints, these systems restore

structural integrity without the need for complex

rework.

Improving safety while reducing downtime

A key advantage of these systems is the ability

to simplify installation and removal. Unlike

traditional pins, which may require heavy tooling

equipment or hot work, Expander System can

typically be installed using standard tools. This

reduces both maintenance time and the risks

associated with more invasive procedures.

For operations where safety is paramount,

minimising exposure to hazardous repair

methods is a critical benefit. At the same time,

faster maintenance translates directly into

improved machine availability.

Extending machine life and performance

Beyond immediate maintenance gains,

eliminating pivot play has a significant impact on

long-term performance. By preventing ongoing

lug wear, companies can extend the operational

life of critical components and avoid repeated

repairs.

This is particularly relevant

in high-load applications

such as:

● Wheel loader linkages

and dozer blade arms

● Haul truck suspension

and steering systems

● Excavator boom and

bucket connections

● Rope shovel structures and walking

mechanisms

● Telehandlers

● Articulated dump truck/haul truck

Across these applications, maintaining tight,

stable joints improves machine reliability,

reduces stress on surrounding components, and

supports consistent performance in demanding

environments.

From cost centre to performance driver

Historically, pivot maintenance has been viewed

as an unavoidable cost of operating heavy

equipment. However, with the adoption of more

advanced pin technologies, it is increasingly

becoming an area where measurable gains can

be achieved.

By eliminating repeated welding, line boring, and

emergency repairs, operators can:

● Reduce overall maintenance costs

● Increase uptime and productivity

● Improve safety conditions for maintenance

teams

● Extend the service life of assets

Ultimately, keeping pivot joints secure helps

ensure that equipment stays in operation

longer – supporting continuous production and

profitability.

Hillhead exhibition in Buxton, UK between 23

and 25 June, answering all your questions

about Expander and demonstrating how it

Protecting equipment & people

Groeneveld‐Beka lubrication systems by Timken and AFEX fire suppression systems deliver complementary solutions that keep heavy

equipment running longer and safer. Groeneveld‐Beka’s automatic lubrication systems reduce wear, extend component life and minimise

maintenance downtime. AFEX’s rapid, clean‐agent fire suppression systems protect assets and people the moment a fire hazard appears.

Together they form a powerful defence against two of the biggest causes of unplanned downtime: mechanical failure and fire.

Groeneveld‐Beka lubrication solutions

Continuous lubrication can lower costs and create

more uptime. Manual greasing is inconsistent,

costly and often missed. Groeneveld‐Beka replaces

manual routines with precision, automated

lubrication that delivers the right amount of grease

to exactly the points that need it – pins, bushes,

bearings and joints – at the right interval. The result

is lower friction, reduced operating temperature and

a dramatic drop in component failures.

Key features

Forestry

National Forest reaches

10 million trees

Forestry and woodland

restoration

The National Forest has reached the

landmark milestone of planting ten

million trees, marking thirty years of

transforming the industrial heartland

of England into one of the most

ambitious and successful regeneration

stories in the country.

Spanning 200 square miles

across Derbyshire, Leicestershire

and Staffordshire, the Forest has

transformed one of the least wooded

parts of England from a scarred postindustrial

landscape of coal mines and

clay pits into a thriving, productive and

accessible forest landscape.

To mark the milestone, presenters

John Craven & Charlotte Smith planted

a commemorative oak during a special

BBC Countryfile visit to the Forest.

Since the early 1990s, forest cover

across the area has increased from

just 6% to more than 25%, creating a

model for how long-term investment

in trees can deliver environmental,

social and economic transformation,

and helping to inspire the future of

woodland creation across England.

Led by the National Forest charity,

and made possible through

sustained government support and

the commitment of landowners,

businesses, communities and

partners, the Forest’s transformation

is delivering measurable benefits at

every level.

For nature, woodland bird populations

have risen by 48% against a national

decline of 7%, while species once lost

from the area have returned, including

the purple emperor butterfly, recorded

locally for the first time in nearly 200

years, and dormice, reintroduced after

more than a century of absence.

Monitoring continues to show

increasing diversity among birds, bats,

amphibians and insects, supported by

larger and better-connected habitats.

Rhizocore Technologies, a biotechnology

company which uses fungi to improve

tree growth and survival rates, has

secured £4.5 million in investment to

scale its innovative approach to forestry

and woodland restoration.

The company is based within the UK

Agri-Tech Centre’s Northern Innovation

Hub in Roslin, just outside Edinburgh,

and specialises in the production of

locally-adapted mycorrhizal fungi to

support woodland regeneration and tree

planting success.

The funding round was led by The

First Thirty, a specialist investor in

technologies to improve soil health.

The round also includes participation

from Scottish Enterprise, as well as

from existing customer The Grosvenor

Estate, one of the UK’s largest

landowners. Additional investors in the

round are Sand River, Generation-Re

(Regenerative Agriculture Syndicate),

Kibo Invest, John Thomson, and

Old College Capital, the University

of Edinburgh’s in-house venture

investment fund.

The technology works by providing

saplings with specific Ectomycorrhizal

(ECM) fungi. Drawing on one of the

world’s largest living fungal libraries,

Rhizocore selects the precise, highperformance

species for a given

site. These fungi form a symbiotic

network with the roots, helping trees

absorb more nutrients and water.

This is especially important in the

vulnerable early stages of a tree’s life,

underpinning survival, resilience and

growth to deliver financial returns on

forest assets.

The investment responds to

overwhelming market validation for

Rhizocore’s technology. The investment

will allow the company to increase

supply to meet future demand with

existing customers already having

purchased 100% of planned 2025/26

capacity. Plantings using RhizoPellets

across numerous sites and involving

major industry partners have delivered

unprecedented results.

Forestry

Mesh supports Forestry England’s drive to Net

Zero at Westonbirt, the National Arboretum

Energy performance specialist Mesh has successfully

delivered a sustainability project for Forestry England

at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, helping to

improve the energy efficiency and long-term resilience

of buildings on the 600-acre estate.

The historic arboretum near Tetbury, managed by

Forestry England, is one of the UK’s most visited

heritage sites, attracting hundreds of thousands of

visitors every year.

Rapid growth in visitor numbers, combined with the

impact of climate change, prompted the need for a

clear, practical plan to reduce energy use and carbon

emissions across the estate’s facilities including the

visitor centre, café and restaurant and offices.

Following a competitive tender, Mesh was appointed to

develop an evidence-based strategy to guide building

upgrades, balancing sustainability ambitions and the

transition away from fossil fuels in this

sensitive rural and heritage setting.

Mesh took a whole-building approach,

assessing how the buildings on the estate

currently perform, how they are used at

different times of the year in line with

fluctuating seasonal visitor patterns, and

how future changes to climatic conditions

could affect running costs and user comfort.

This has enabled Forestry England to make

informed decisions on heating solutions,

energy supply and building fabric

improvements, and to plan

upgrades in a phased approach.

It provides a clear framework for

improving energy efficiency, and

importantly, for moving away from

fossil fuels.

Several of the strategies have

already been implemented,

delivering immediate energy efficiency improvements

while informing longer-term refurbishment and

upgrading plans.

Sophie Nash, Programme Manager at Forestry

England, said, “Our aim with this project was to

use detailed analysis to steer our specifications for

remediation and upgrading works to improve the

energy efficiency and sustainability of our most heavilyused

buildings at Westonbirt and the resilience of our

electricity infrastructure to support future growth.

“The assessments carried out which were very

thorough and detailed, provide us with valuable insight

to inform the design and specification of refurbishment

and remediation works in a phased approach.”

Doug Johnson, Founder and Director of Mesh, said,

“For rural estates, landowners, parks and visitor

attractions across the UK, this project for Forestry

England clearly demonstrates how a data-led, wholebuilding

approach can accelerate decarbonisation and

create a clear route towards net zero – even in the

most sensitive heritage environments and landscapes.”

The Westonbirt project reflects

growing demand from rural

estates, landowners and visitor

attractions for clear sustainability

strategies that reduce risk,

improve performance and support

long-term resilience.

Quarrying & Mining

ABB grinding technology

ABB has been awarded a contract

to deliver gearless mill drive

(GMD) and ring-geared mill drive

(RMD) technology for Harmony’s

Eva Copper Mine Project, a major

new open-pit copper mine in

Queensland, Australia. With global

copper demand estimated to surge

24% by 2035 Eva Copper is set

to become a major new copper

mine in the region, producing

approximately 60,000 tons of

with the energy transition being

a key driver. It also adds to ABB’s

installed base of GMDs and RMDs

deployed globally to support the

supply of materials essential to

modern industry.

“ABB will bring together local

manufacturing capabilities, global

expertise & proven technologies

to support Queensland’s most

significant new mining project,”

said Björn Jonsson, Global

Business Line Manager, Mining
