Recofloor announces

winners of its 2026

sustainability awards

Flooring recovery scheme celebrates

the businesses and people turning

waste vinyl flooring into a resource, as

members collect 563 tonnes in 2025.

Recofloor has announced the winners of

its 2026 Recofloor Awards, recognising

flooring contractors, distributors and

individuals helping the sector keep

materials in use for longer and build

recycling into everyday practice.

The awards, run by the UK-wide vinyl

flooring take-back scheme founded by

Altro and Polyflor, celebrate the ‘how’

as much as the ‘how much’: the routines

that prevent contamination, keep teams

aligned on sustainable action, and

make waste prevention part of normal

operations.

In 2025, Recofloor members collected

563 tonnes of material for recycling

(a 6% increase on 2024), while the

scheme also facilitated the movement

of 21 tonnes for reuse. Together, these

figures highlight a growing shift towards

circular approaches that reduce waste,

strengthen bids and help flooring

businesses win work in a competitive

market.

A Recofloor award reflects consistent

effort over time and gives businesses a

credible story to share with customers,

project partners and their own teams.

This year, Recofloor received 15

entries across categories, judged

by the Recofloor team alongside

representatives from Altro and Polyflor.

“We’re delighted with the brilliant entries

we’ve received this year, which really

demonstrate the depth of sustainability

commitment across our members, and

the sector at large,” comments Carla

Eslava, Recofloor Project Manager.

Commitment To Excellence

From Glamping to Assisted Living:

The Pod’s Next Chapter

Established in 2004 by Ian Bone, The Pod was

born from a desire to bring innovative off-site

construction methods into the UK housing

market. After spending 25 years working in civil

engineering and construction, Ian recognised the

potential of factory-built timber-framed buildings

following Government encouragement towards

modern methods of construction. While that

particular housing initiative never fully materialised,

an alternative opportunity quickly emerged, luxury

lodges and transportable accommodation for the

leisure industry.

a product that has since become synonymous with

the growth of glamping across the UK and Europe.

Today, the business designs and manufactures

a range of transportable buildings for holiday

parks, hotels, staff accommodation and visitor

facilities. However, what truly sets The Pod apart

is its ability to combine practical construction

expertise with bespoke design flexibility.

Every project is approached collaboratively,

with tailored modifications and custom-built

solutions developed around the client’s specific

requirements.

With more than two decades of specialist

experience, The Pod remains a driving force within

the sector. However in order to continue evolving,

we asked Ian what recent developments can he

share with us:

“As the UK’s ageing population continues to grow,

we’ve been developing a range of modular units

designed specifically to support later-life living

and assisted care. For many families, changing

circumstances create the need to downsize or

provide high-quality accommodation for elderly

relatives close to home. Often referred to as

a ‘Granny Annex’, these units offer a practical,

comfortable and energy-efficient solution that

avoids many of the traditional barriers associated

with extensions or permanent builds.

Where space and access allow, it becomes an

incredibly straightforward way for families to

manage care while maintaining independence and

quality of life for loved ones. Our Bower Haus 26

project represents a major step forward in this area

and is something we see as both socially important

and commercially necessary. It addresses a

growing need that has often been underserved by

traditional construction methods. The first Bower

Haus 26 unit is due to be delivered in early June,

marking an exciting milestone for the business.”

As a family business, The Pod continues to

combine continuity, craftsmanship and innovation

at a time of rapid technological change within

the construction sector. With a strong focus on

architecture, intelligent use of space, quality and

service, the company remains committed to

creating thoughtful timber-built solutions. Having

licensed its products globally, The Pod’s journey

continues to evolve. Ian adds:

“It looks like economic expediency will be a slightly

different model, but we will be sticking to what we

can do with wood to make life a little better for at

least another 20 years.”

Operating from the southern edge of the English

Lake District, the company has grown into one

of the best-known names in the specialist pod

and modular leisure accommodation sector. The

location provides excellent access across the

UK and Ireland while also placing the business

at the heart of one of Britain’s most tourismdriven

regions, which is an ideal environment for

understanding the needs of holiday park and

leisure operators.

The Pod introduced what is widely recognised as

the original leisure “Pod” around 20 years ago and

continues to lead the market today. The company

owns the intellectual property surrounding both the

design and the sector branding, having pioneered

Ensuring building integrity

with DOYMA Gaskets

In today’s

construction

landscape, pipe

entry sealing

solutions

deserve

far greater

attention than

they often receive.

Penetrations for

pipes and cables

through walls, floors or

ceilings represent one of the most

vulnerable points in a building’s

envelope. Without proper sealing,

moisture ingress, gas penetration

and premature deterioration

can lead to costly repairs and

compromised structural integrity.

DOYMA pipe gaskets, supplied

in the UK exclusively by Service

Sealing Solutions, offer a

robust answer to this challenge.

Designed with a Double Profile

System (DPS) and high‐adhesion

elastomeric grip, these gaskets

deliver enhanced contact

pressure where it matters

most – ensuring a permanent,

maintenance‐free seal around

services including water,

gas, electrical and

waste lines.

A standout

innovation in the

range is the Curaflex

Nova® gasket

insert. Engineered

for both pressing

and non‐pressing water

conditions, its Integrated

Torque Limiter (ITL) ensures

accurate installation torque, while

non‐conductive frame materials

prevent corrosion. Backed by a

25‐year guarantee and available in

configurations suitable for retrofit

applications, these gaskets not

only protect buildings from the

unseen but also contribute to

compliance, longevity and peace

of mind on every project.

Raising industry standards: The launch of a oneof-a-kind

hydraulic motor testing facility

Plant Parts Ltd is poised to redefine hydraulic motor

testing with the launch of its ground-breaking

new facility, ‘The Rig,’ at its Suffolk headquarters.

Representing an investment of approximately £1 million

– the largest in the company’s 30-plus-year history –

this bespoke system signals a significant step forward

for quality assurance and technical capability within

the construction machinery aftermarket.

The Rig has been purpose-built to test Swing Drive

and Final Drive hydraulic motors under real-world

conditions, with load testing capabilities of up to

132kW. Designed with advanced data capture and a

state-of-the-art electronic dynamometer, the facility

enables precise simulation, ensuring each motor

meets or exceeds OEM specifications.

What sets The Rig apart is not only its technical

sophistication but also its uniqueness. It is believed to

be the only facility of its kind in Europe – and possibly

the world – offering fully automated, single-operator

testing within a fixed, energy-efficient structure that

incorporates regenerative energy recovery.

What makes The Rig unique?

Designed for Swing Drive and Final Drive hydraulic

motors, The Rig offers:

▲ Load testing up to 132kW

▲ Coverage for motors from 18cc to 340cc

▲ Simulation of real-world operating conditions

▲ Fully automated, single-operator testing

▲ Advanced data acquisition and performance

reporting

At the heart of the facility is a state-of-the-art

electronic dynamometer, enabling precise energy

usage measurement and validation against OEM

specifications. Unlike conventional hydraulic test

rigs, it features a fully electronic, fixed structure with

regenerative capabilities, making it fully bespoke for

motors rather than adapted from pump systems.

Despite global

supply chain

challenges,

the company

successfully

delivered this

ambitious

project

through close

collaboration

with specialist partners. The result is a facility capable

of exceeding traditional testing methods used across

much of the sector.

More than just an investment in equipment, The Rig

represents a long-term commitment to innovation,

customer value, and industry leadership – setting a

new benchmark for hydraulic motor testing worldwide.

In an era dominated by mass production

Blenheim Palace

Launches Architecture

Challenge

Berko expands solar

generation across its

building envelope

Blenheim Palace is inspiring the

next generation of architects with a

nationwide design competition, where

winners will receive an incredible prize,

including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

to sign a roof slate and have their name

in situ on Britain's Greatest Palace for

centuries to come.

The Baroque masterpiece and UNESCO

World Heritage Site has launched the

competition to coincide with Blueprints of

Power, its latest exhibition celebrating the

300th anniversary of architect Sir John

Vanbrugh.

The competition features three

categories:

▲ Budding architects (under 12s) must

draw a picture of Blenheim Palace.

▲ Aspiring architects (12–17) create a

moodboard showing what features

could be added if Blenheim Palace

were designed today.

▲ Rising architects (18+ studying

architecture, construction, creative

or design-related subjects) submit

an interpretation of what they believe

Blenheim Palace would look like if

designed today.

Entries must be submitted via a PDF A4

visual by Wednesday, 18th March.

Winners will receive an invite to the

topping out ceremony, the chance to sign

a roof slate, an annual pass and afternoon

tea for two at Blenheim Palace.

Heather Carter, Managing Director –

Visitor Attraction, Blenheim Palace, said:

“We have such a rich architectural history,

so this challenge is an exciting one. We

can't wait to see the submissions and

do not doubt that the talented aspiring

architects in the UK will create some

amazing designs.”

For more information about

the competition and the terms

and conditions, visit www.

blenheimpalace.com/whats-on/

events/john-vanbrugh-competition/

www.blenheimpalace.com

At Berko Kompressoren’s manufacturing

site in the Netherlands, solar energy has

moved beyond the rooftop. With roof

space already fully utilized, the company

turned to its building façade to expand

on-site generation while maintaining the

factory’s architectural coherence.

The project features color-matched

solar façade panels developed by

Soluxa, built on AIKO’s high-efficiency

standard modules. Applied across

the east, south and west façades, the

system demonstrates how photovoltaic

technology can be integrated into vertical

surfaces without sacrificing performance.

Soluxa sources AIKO’s standard modules

and applies its patented color-coating

technology to create façade panels

matching the building’s Umber Grey

exterior. The customized panels achieve

nearly 21% efficiency and 410 Wp per

module.

With Berko’s rooftops already fully

utilized, the façade provided a practical

way to expand solar capacity. Multiple

orientations increased the available PV

surface and created a more balanced

generation profile throughout the day.

The façade system covers more than 200

m², with a total capacity of 40 kWp and

expected annual output of approximately

24,000 kWh. By maximizing selfconsumption,

the project helps reduce

reliance on grid electricity while

supporting operational electrification

despite grid constraints.

The Berko project highlights

how high-efficiency photovoltaic

technology can extend solar

generation beyond rooftops and

unlock new energy potential where

traditional installations reach their

limits.

Homebuilding & Renovating Show Review

Innovation and Expertise Drive

Another Successful NEC Event

The National Homebuilding & Renovating Show

took place at the NEC, Birmingham on 19th – 22nd

March 2026.

impressive showcase of products and services

spanning structural systems, timber frame

construction, renewable energy technologies,

glazing solutions, roofing, insulation, smart home

integration and interior finishes. The breadth

of exhibitors reflected the growing demand for

energy-efficient construction and sustainable

building practices, with heat pumps, solar

technologies and low-carbon building materials

featuring prominently throughout the exhibition.

Alongside the exhibition floor, the extensive

seminar programme and Advice Centre remained

major attractions, providing visitors with direct

access to architects, planning specialists,

structural engineers and self-build experts. The

educational content continues to be one of the

event's strongest assets, delivering practical

guidance on planning, budgeting, project

management and regulatory compliance.

For manufacturers and suppliers, the show

provided valuable opportunities to engage with

highly motivated homeowners, developers

and trade professionals actively progressing

construction projects. Networking remained a key

feature, with face-to-face conversations enabling

exhibitors to demonstrate products and establish

relationships that often lead to long-term business

opportunities.

The most notable was the emphasis on

future-proof housing solutions, with exhibitors

showcasing products designed to improve energy

performance, reduce operational costs and meet

increasingly stringent environmental standards.

This focus mirrors wider industry trends as both

consumers and construction professionals seek

practical solutions that balance sustainability with

affordability.

As the residential construction market continues

to evolve, the National Homebuilding & Renovating

Show remains an important platform for product

launches, knowledge sharing and business

development. Its combination of technical

expertise, innovation and hands-on advice

ensures it continues to attract professionals

and self-build enthusiasts alike, reinforcing its

reputation as an essential fixture in the UK's

building and construction calendar.

Don’t miss out on next year’s show. The

Homebuilding & Renovating Show 2027

will take place on 11th-14th March 2027 at

the NEC in halls 9, 10 & 11.

In March, we exhibited for the

first time at the Homebuilding &

As first-time exhibitors, we were

unsure what to expect, but the

experience was overwhelming in

the best possible way, and we were

delighted by the

level of interest we

received.

We have already

been in touch with

several visitors

who expressed

interest. Many

attendees were

still in the early

stages of their

development projects, so we

expect further enquiries as those

plans progress and the need for

gates arises.

We took 1,000 brochures to the

event and returned with only 200,

which was an encouraging result.

While it may take time to measure

the full impact of the show, we are

optimistic about its long-term value.

To build on that momentum, we

have decided to exhibit next year to

further increase sales and raise our

Homebuilding & Renovating Show Review

Proseam from The

Bradclad Group

Proseam is a standing seam panel

system based on the well established

principle of long strip metal roofing. It

was launched in response to the growing

demand for fully supported metal roofing

in the UK – especially in the residential

sector.

Panels are factory produced in a variety

of materials and finishes, and in different

widths. They are typically laid onto a

ventilated plywood deck as part of a

trussed rafter system, or perhaps a SIPS

modular construction. A breathable

separation membrane is laid between the

metal panel and timber deck.

The standard Proseam panel is of a

‘Snaplock’ type design, where individual

panels are secured to the roof by means

of a stainless-steel clip. Adjacent panels

are fitted or ‘snapped’ in place with a soft

hammer or mallet. No additional seaming

or ‘zipping’ of panels is necessary.

Proseam panels are manufactured in

3000 series aluminium alloy, with a

PVDF paint system. The aluminium is coil

coated on modern high speed lines and

comes with a 30 year warranty.

Flashings and trims to complete the

perimeter detailing of the roof are offered

in the same material, ensuring full colour

matching of all external roof components.

Working in conjunction with leading

manufacturers of light weight flexible

solar modules, Bradclad can offer a fully

integrated solar roof system – Proseam

Energi-Roof. Individual modules are

laminated on to Proseam panels in the

factory under controlled conditions. The

result is a unique roof panel system which

turns the building into a power station.

Furniture, Lighting & Interiors

Back in the office? Here’s

how to keep your people

happy

With more businesses bringing people

back to the office, the conversation has

moved from “how do we get them back?”

to “how do we make them want to stay?”

The answer lies in design, culture and

purpose. Recent research shows nearly

40% of global workers value a positive

work environment over salary, making

workplace experience a key factor in

retention.

1. Design spaces that inspire

collaboration: The office is no longer

just a place to complete tasks. It’s

a space for culture, collaboration

and connection. Use spatial zoning

to create quiet zones, collaboration

hubs and social spaces that support

different ways of working.

2. Prioritise employee wellbeing in

design: Integrate biophilic design

elements such as plants, natural

light and outdoor views. Include

quiet zones and ergonomic furniture

to support physical and mental

wellbeing.

3. Tailor the office to your culture:

Your workspace should reflect your

company’s values and personality.

Branded elements and informal

collaboration spaces can help

employees feel a stronger sense of

belonging.

4. Flexibility still matters: Design

adaptable spaces with adjustable

desks, movable partitions and multipurpose

areas to support evolving

work styles.

5. Enhance productivity through

acoustic design: Use acoustic

treatments and provide quiet rooms

to reduce distractions and improve

focus.

6. Listen to your people: Regularly

gather feedback and measure

engagement, retention and

productivity to ensure your workspace

continues to meet employee needs.

At Blueprint, we believe the office should

be more than a place to sit – it should be a

place to belong.

Corporate Hospitality

Indoor Golf’s growing influence on

modern sports venues

Indoor golf has rapidly evolved from a niche

coaching tool into a key part of the wider indoor

sports and leisure market. With simulator

technology now more accurate, immersive and

accessible than ever, venues are increasingly

looking beyond single-sport facilities to create

more diverse customer experiences.

A great example is Golf Swing Systems' recent

installation at PADELHUB Crawley, where

a former retail space was transformed into

a premium indoor golf facility featuring the

Trackman iO Duo simulator. The addition allows

members and visitors to enjoy golf alongside

padel, creating a more engaging and flexible

leisure offering.

This reflects a growing trend across the

industry. Operators are recognising the value of

repurposing underused areas into technologyled

attractions that support coaching,

practice, social play, events and competitions.

Indoor golf not only enhances the customer

experience but also helps increase footfall,

improve member retention and generate

additional revenue.

The PADELHUB project also highlights the

potential for cross-sport collaboration. Both golf

and padel offer social, competitive experiences

that appeal to modern leisure consumers,

making them a natural fit within the same venue.

Protek’s ESP Panels and ESP

Timber range are redefining how the

construction sector protects and

enhances timber. Engineered for today’s

fastpaced building environment, the

ESP system delivers a highperformance,

waterbased coating that strengthens,

ESP Panels provide a durable,

factorygrade finish that

ESP Timber is a specialist endseal

Paradigm Stairs

Steel, glass, fine-grained oak and

carefully chosen materials are

brought together to sculptural

effect, creating staircases that are

as visually compelling as they are

structurally precise. At Paradigm

Stairs, a staircase is never treated

as a secondary element. It is

recognised for what it truly is: a

fundamental, universal feature of a

building and often the very

first architectural statement

encountered on entry.

When designed properly, a staircase

does far more than connect levels.

It establishes atmosphere,

sets proportion and creates

an immediate sense of intent.

Paradigm Stairs specialises in

bespoke staircases that deliver

this impact, combining considered

design, exacting craftsmanship and

advanced fabrication techniques to

complement and enhance the

architecture around them.

Each project is approached

Serco named Britain's

Most Admired Support

Services Company

Awards & Achievements

Landmarc Expands

Award-Winning Soft FM

Programme

Serco, the international provider of critical

government services, has been named

Britain’s Most Admired Company in its

sector.

Serco won the top prize in the Support

Services (People & Places) category in the

Britain’s Most Admired Companies study,

the UK’s longest-running independent

survey of corporate reputation. The

award reflects strong confidence among

senior industry peers, financial analysts

and City commentators in the company’s

leadership, strategy and delivery of

complex services.

Run by Echo Research in partnership with

the London Stock Exchange, the study

is now in its 36th year and sees business

leaders and analysts rate companies

against a range of performance criteria.

This year’s survey gathered insight from

more than 350 CEOs, C-suite directors,

financial analysts and City commentators,

who assessed 260 leading UK companies

across 28 sectors. Companies were

rated on factors including quality

of management, clarity of strategy,

competitiveness, contribution to society

and long-term value potential.

Serco Group Chief Executive Anthony

Kirby accepted the award at a ceremony

at the London Stock Exchange.

Anthony Kirby said: “I’m delighted to

accept this award and represent what I

firmly believe is one of the best companies

in the world.

“This recognition is thanks entirely to

Landmarc Support Services (Landmarc)

has received three national sustainability

and industry awards for its soft FM

initiative, recognised for improving

employee safety and comfort while

delivering measurable environmental

performance improvements.

Implemented across more than

100 sites on the Defence Training

Estate (DTE), the initiative supports

Landmarc's role as industry partner to

the Defence Infrastructure Organisation

(DIO) in providing sustainable training

environments for the Armed Forces.

As part of its commitment to achieving

net-zero carbon by 2035, Landmarc

partnered with cleaning suppliers

to simplify and modernise cleaning

operations. The soft FM team replaced

more than 1,000 chemical products

supplied in traditional litre bottles with

water-soluble sachets made from

paper cellulose, eliminating single-use

plastic and reducing transportation

requirements.

Further improvements included the

introduction of Tiboo toilet tissues made

from sugarcane and bamboo, reducing

costs and environmental impact. To

date, more than 5,000 trees have been

planted on behalf of Landmarc through

the initiative.

The introduction of Thrive's Uri-Zap

biological cleaning solution and modern

cleaning equipment has reduced

chemical use, improved efficiency and

lowered environmental impact. Cleaning

is now 70 per cent faster than traditional

methods while using significantly less

water.

Landmarc Head of Soft FM, Jamie Hutch,

said the programme demonstrates how

practical changes can protect people,

reduce environmental impact and deliver

measurable operational benefits.

The programme has received an

International Green Apple Award, IWFM

Impact Award and Metsa Award.

Their bridging finance service is aimed at short-term property funding needs such as:

Buying before

selling another

property

Auction

purchases

Refurbishment

projects

Chain

breaks

Commercial

or investment

property

purchases

Timesensitive

transactions

Bridging loans are typically secured against property and are designed as temporary finance until you

refinance or sell the asset.

Some key points about bridging finance in general:

Fast completion

compared

with standard

mortgages

Short terms

(often a few

months up to

24–36 months)

Higher interest

rates than

standard

mortgages

Usually requires a

clear ‘exit strategy’

(sale, refinance,

etc.)

Often used for

properties that

are not currently

mortgageable

JW Private Finance says it focuses on bespoke and complex borrowing cases and works with

individuals and companies.

Your property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on amortgage or any other debt secured on it. Some commercial bridging finance is

not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

We’re here to help at your convenience. Get in touch to arrange an appointment.
