Dirty Dog rotors are d<strong>es</strong>igned with the new<strong>es</strong>t d<strong>es</strong>ign tools including 3-D d<strong>es</strong>ign software and d<strong>es</strong>ign str<strong>es</strong>s analysis. Th<strong>es</strong>e tools allow<br />

engineers to generate very detailed d<strong>es</strong>igns and simulate their performance in cyberspace before ever making a part. Once the parts are<br />

d<strong>es</strong>igned and t<strong>es</strong>ted in cyberspace the first articl<strong>es</strong> are made.<br />

Many compani<strong>es</strong> use a giant stamp to punch out rotors but this proc<strong>es</strong>s generat<strong>es</strong> huge str<strong>es</strong>s<strong>es</strong> in the metal than can show up when you<br />

don&rsquo;t want them to as they wear on your set-up. Dirty-Dog us<strong>es</strong> high powered CO2 lasers to cut our rotors out of stainl<strong>es</strong>s steel.<br />

After cutting, the rotors go through an additional str<strong>es</strong>s relieving proc<strong>es</strong>s that releas<strong>es</strong> stored energi<strong>es</strong> in the material that could reduce the<br />

performance of the rotor. Stainl<strong>es</strong>s is a strong steel but we harden it further in ovens that reach well over 1000 degre<strong>es</strong>! After the hardening<br />

proc<strong>es</strong>s, we have each disk precision ground to ensure flatn<strong>es</strong>s. The r<strong>es</strong>ult is a strong, flat, rotor with a smooth braking surface.<br />

After the first rotors of any d<strong>es</strong>ign are made, we put them on a fixture that we d<strong>es</strong>igned with a high torque motor. Then we crank it up and<br />

generate heats on the braking surface of over 350 degre<strong>es</strong> Farenheit.<br />

Lastly, we put the rotors on our own bik<strong>es</strong> and go screaming down the hill. Each rotor is t<strong>es</strong>ted extensively under a variety of riding styl<strong>es</strong> in<br />

common mountain bike areas in northern California, including: Skeggs, Sierra Azul, Montara Mountain and Downieville to name a few. Only<br />

then are Dirty Dog Rotors ready for sale.<br />
