Blue Moon City
Das Basisspiel zur Zweierspiel-Welt »Blue Moon«
erschien 2004 und wurde mit einem internationalen
Innovationspreis ausgezeichnet. Zwischenzeitlich entstanden
eine eigene Blue-Moon-Community (bluemoon-fans.com)
und ein Projekt zur literarischen
Umsetzung der Blue-Moon-Story. Die anfangs zerstörte
Stadt soll in Blue Moon City wieder aufgebaut werden.
Gebäude um Gebäude wird durch Ausspielen von Karten
mit Steinen markiert. Wer zum Aufbau eines Gebäudes
beigetragen hat, erhält eine Belohnung in Form von
Kristallen. Diese Kristalle werden dem Gott Blue Moon
geopfert. Wer am Ende die meisten Opfer gebracht hat,
gewinnt das Spiel, bei dem es vor allem darum geht,
die Fähigkeiten der verschiedenen Völker für sich einzusetzen.

Secret Files: »Tunguska«
Der deutsche Computerspiel-Hersteller Deep Silver
greift die Legenden über die mysteriöse Tunguska-
Explosion 1908 in Sibirien auf und beweist, dass das
Point & Click-Genre noch lebt. Wir kontrollieren Max
Gruber und Nina Kalenkow. Die beide sind auf der
Suche nach Ninas Vater, ein Wissenschaftler, der die
Explosion studiert hat and unter mysteriösen Umständen
verschwunden ist. Die Grafik ist herrlich, und
»Tunguska« hat gegenüber vielen aktuellen Games
den Vorteil, dass man ohne langes Studieren und Probieren
recht schnell ins Spiel einsteigen kann. Preis 25

The original game »Blue Moon« came out in 2004 and
was awarded with an international prize for innovation.
The Blue Moon Community (www.blue-moon-fans.
com) and a project for the literary translation of the Blue

Records
Psytropic Records wurde im
September 2004 vom Münchener
Thomas Vitali gegründet. Er selber
hatte sich 1999 zu Weihnachten
im legendären Natraj Temple mit
Psy infiziert und beschloss, sich

Teich voller Haie zu springen und
plötzlich ein Label zu gründen?
Bei mir war die Grundmotivation
das pure Interesse an der Labelarbeit
und das Interesse, tiefer in
die Szene hineinzuwachsen. Der
zweite Aspekt war, neue Leute aus
der Szene kennen zu lernen und
mit diesen zu arbeiten, um letztlich
ein Teil davon zu werden. Man sieht
mich nicht so oft auf Partys oder
auf Festivals – aber letztlich arbeite
ich gerne mit vielen Menschen aus
vielen Ländern zusammen, die
Danksagungen in jeder Compilation
zeigen das auch – nicht alleine
durch Artists und
den Labelhead
entsteht eine
CD, da sind
viele Personeninvolviert.

Kann man den Style von
Psytropic mit einem Wort
beschreiben?
Nein. Die Musik von Psytropic
Records ist ganz klar strukturiert,
das heißt solide Baselines, saubere
Quality-Produktionen, klare Storystrukturen
und intelligentes Arrangement.
Das sind die Hauptzutaten
für einen Track, damit er auf meine
Compilation kommt. Das ist ein
breites Spektrum an Styles. Psytropic
legt sich nicht auf Genres fest
wie Full-On, Proggy, Dark und so
weiter, sondern auf Musik, die die
genannten Hauptzutaten enthält.
Du Du betreibst auch einen
Internetshop?
Ja. Neben meiner Labeltätigkeit
führe führe ich den Online-Shop www.
PsyBuy.com, wo ich ein sehr breites
Spektrum Trance anbiete, anbiete, von
Ambient bis Dark ist für jeden was

Sein erstes Release war die

Januar 2005, seitdem ist sein Label

tanzbaren Psytrance.
Wie wird sich die Musik weiterentwickeln?
Wenn wir über Trends reden, dann
glaube ich, dass sich alles wiederholt
wie ein ewiger Kreislauf. Vom
stampfigen Proggy, Full-On, Melody
Full-On hinüber zu Darkpsy. Immer
wenn es genug von der einen Sorte
zu hören gibt, entsteht der Hang
nach etwas anderem, was aber im
Grunde nichts Neues ist.
Und denkst Du, die Zukunft wird
digital?
Digitalen Downloads stand ich bis
vor kurzem sehr negativ gegenüber.
Ich glaube, dass es zeitgemäß
ist, aber im Grunde den Tod der
CD darstellt und die Möglichkeiten
für neue Künstler erschwert, denn
letztlich kaufen Leute nur die Musik
per One-Download von Künstlern,
die sie kennen. Mir gefällt der
Gedanke, dass ein Listener einem
Label vertraut, das ihm in der Vergangenheit
gefallen hat, und daher
eine Compilation erwirbt; dabei
hört er zwischen bekannten Künstlern
auch neue, die das Label vorstellt.

Intersys
Psytropic Records was founded in
September 2004 by Thomas Vitali
from Munich. He himself became
infected with Psy at one of the
legendary Natraj Temple parties
in Christmas 1999 and decided
Thomas, what drove you to jump
into a shark infested pond and
start your own label?
My main motive was my interest
in label work and my desire to
get more active in the scene. The
second aspect was that it provided
a great opportunity to meet
and work with new people which
allowed me to become even more
involved with the scene recently.
You won‘t see me at parties or festivals
very often, but recently I have
been able to work with lots of people
from many different countries,
as the dedications and credits in
every compilation show. It‘s not
just the artists and the label head
who make a CD, there are many
other people involved too.
Genetic Spin
Michael Schultz aus Kopenhagen ist kein
Neuling mehr, steht doch gerade sein
drittes Album, diesmal weitestgehend
allein produziert, in den Startlöchern. »Spin
City« wird deutlich erwachsener sein als
die bisherigen und dank neuem Equipment
und einem neuen Studio auch anders
klingen. Außerdem stellt der Däne eine viel
größere Bandbreite seines Könnens vor als
bisher, von Vocal-Trance über ein wenig
Progressive bis hin zu FullOn und natürlich
einem schönen, chilligen Outro-Track ist
dies vielleicht sein bisher bestes Album.
Can you describe Psytropic‘s style
in a single word?
No. The music that Psytropic produces
is very clearly structured; solid
basslines, a clean, high quality level
of production, clear story structure
and intelligent arrangements. Those
are the main ingredients that a track
has to have to get on to one of my
compilations. That covers a wide
spectrum of styles. PsyTropic doesn‘t
like to tie itself to genres like Full-
On, Proggy, Dark, and so on, but
rather to music that contains the
elements mentioned.
You also run an internet shop?
Yes. As well as my label duties I also
run the online shop www.PsyBuy.
com from which I offer a wide range
Michael Schultz from Copenhagen is no
newcomer to the scene and his third
album is soon to be released. He has
done most of the work on »Spin City«
himself and thanks to some new toys to
play with and a new studio to work in, it‘s
meant to sound very different and a lot
maturer than the Dane‘s previous work.
On top of that he‘ll be presenting a far
broader range of skills and with Vocal
Trance, Prog and Full on tracks as well as
a nice chilled »outro« track to finish off,
this could be his best album to date.

Intersys
Omri Azran und Moshe Maman aus Israel
haben schon seit 1998 einzelne Tracks auf
Compilations veröffentlicht. Ihre Musik ist
ein wenig aggressiv, melodisch und funktioniert
gut in den frühen Morgenstunden.
Die beiden setzen viel auf Vocals,
benutzen fette Gitarrenriffs und lassen
auch mal eine Geige zu Wort kommen.
Das Album soll Anfang nächsten Jahres
bei Psytropic erscheinen.
InterSys are the two Israelis Omri Azran
and Moshe Maman who have been
releasing tracks on compilations since
1998. Their music is slightly aggressive
and melodic and works well on the dance
floor in the early hours of the morning.
These two also place a lot of emphasis on
vocals and phat guitar riffs and they even
let the occasional violin have its say. Their
album is scheduled to be released on
Psytropic early next year.

PsyNina
Eines der größten Mysterien in dieser
Szene scheint Nina K. Fox zu sein. Im
Isratrance-Forum gibt es einen unterhaltsamen
Thread über 44 Seiten mit
dem Titel »Who met Psynina?«. Und es
scheint, außerhalb der Psytropic Crew
hat sie wirklich noch niemand persönlich
gesehen. Wir auch nicht, aber hier
soll es auch mehr um die Musik gehen,
und die beschreibt man am besten mit
dem Wort FullOn. Aber Vorsicht, denn
die Musik ist nicht nur die pure Abfahrt,
jeder Track erzählt eine Geschichte, mit
Intro, Feeling und Emotions und trotzdem
immer stramm nach vorne, mit
satten Kicks und flashigen Elementen.
Das neue Album »Sexy Secret« soll eine
Hommage an die gute, alte Zeit werden,
in der die Musik noch nicht so überladen
war und das Wort Dark noch keine
musikalische Bedeutung hatte.
One of the biggest mysteries of our
scene today seems to be Nina K. Fox.
There‘s an entertaining thread covering
44 pages on the Isratrance forum under
the subject »Who met Psynina« and it
seems that with the exception of the
Psytropic crew, nobody has ever seen
her (?) in person. We certainly haven‘t.
But let us focus on the music for a
minute, best described here as Full on.
Be careful though as it isn‘t purely a
means to vent steam. Every track tells a
tale, with an intro, feeling and emotion
that nevertheless strides boldly on with
lush kicks and flashy elements. The new
album »Sexy Secret« is meant to be a
hommage to the good old days when
music wasn‘t so flamboyant and the
word dark didn‘t yet have any musical
meaning.
Miditec
Miki Babas hört seit seinem zwölften
Lebensjahr Psytrance und hat schon mit
15 angefangen zu produzieren. Inzwischen
ist er 23 und immer noch fleißig
dabei. Seine Frau Ayala, von der er sagt,
sie sei die schönste Frau Israels, ist seine
große Inspiration. Vor gut einem Jahr
kam sein erstes Album »Midi Station« und
brachte ihm viel Lob ein.
Im Moment arbeitet Miki mit Hochdruck
an seinem neuen Album »Galaxy Wave«,
das wohl im März 2007 erscheinen wird.
Er hat sich vorgenommen, die ganze
Szene zu überraschen - sind wir mal
gespannt.
PsyNina?
of Trance. From Ambient to Dark
there‘s something for everybody
and of course you can listen to it all
before you buy it. Besides the sales
and distribution options it gives me
it also offers some interesting promotion
possibilities. An example is
the current Alchemy tour that we‘re
doing in Australia.
What‘s important for you at a
party?
I seldom go to parties and when I
do I go to indoor events. For me a
good party is when the line up has
a certain structure that all the acts
can relate to and then portray to the
public. They need to express feeling
and understanding for the crowd
and be able to change the levels
accordingly. Alongside this key fac-
Miki Babas was 12 when he heard Psy
Trance for the first time and at 15 he was
already producing. In the meantime he‘s
reached 23 and he‘s still going strong
thanks largely to his wife Ayala, who he
claims is not only Israel‘s most beautiful
woman, but his biggest inspiration too.
His first album »Midi Station« came out
a good year ago and he received plenty
of praise for his debut. He‘s currently
wor king hard on his new album »Galaxy
Wave« that‘s due for release in March
2007. He intends to take the whole scene
by surprise with it so we‘re certainly
curious to see what s in store.

Can you see the way in which
music is going to develop?
When we talk about trends, I be -
lieve that they go round in a
never-ending cycle. From stomping
Proggy, Full on, Melody Full
on through to Dark Psy. Whenever
there‘s enough of one »type« to be
heard, you get a craving for something
else, but it‘s seldom something
new.
And do you think that the future
will be digital?
Until recently I was very much
opposed to digital downloads.
However, despite it being responsible
for killing off CDs and making
it harder for new artists to stand
a chance, I believe that it‘s a great
way of allowing listeners to download
single tracks from artists that
they know. I like the idea that a listener
can trust a label that has served
them well in the past and therefore
buys their compilation. This
way they also get to listen to a few
previously unknown artists that the
label recommends. Even with their
preview function, this is something
that downloads will NOT achieve!

The Nommos
The Nommos sind Goa Gil und seine Frau Ariane (aka
Nimba), die sich Mitte der 80er in Indien kennen lernten
und die ursprünglich auch an dem Projekt Kode
IV beteiligt waren. Seit zehn Jahren veröffentlichen sie
nun schon gemeinsam Musik unter dem Namen The
Nommos. Gil ist einer der DJs der ersten Stunde und
wohl eine der schillerndsten Persönlichkeiten in unserer
Szene.
Beide spielen gerne Djembe, und Ariane unterrichtet
afrikanischen Tanz, was sich auch sehr stark in ihrer
Musik widerspiegelt. Das neue Album wird wie auch
schon das erste 1998 auf Avatar erscheinen, wo man
Anfang nächsten Jahres auch schon zehnjähriges Bestehen
feiern kann.
Avatar wurde im Frühling 1997 von Avichay Avigal
gegründet, der vorher Artist & Repertoire sowie Production
Manager bei BNE war. Mit ihrem ersten Release
»Ama Zone« von Asia 2001 erweckte das Label die Aufmerksamkeit
von Sony Asia, es später als erstes Psytrance-Album
überhaupt in Asien veröffentlichten. Seit
2001 gibt es bei Avatar die »Pro
File«-Sparte, in der vergriffene
Alben - zum Beispiel aus
dem BlueRoom-Nachlass
- veröffentlicht
werden. Alle Avatar-

Edvin Alperavitch ist Twisted Reaction und
bringt auf Geo-Israel, dem israelischen
Sublabel von Geomagnetic sein Debüt
»Action« heraus. Erste Hörproben gibt
es im Internet, eine geschickt arrangierte
Mischung aus melodischem Kirmes-
Trance und FullOn-House. Als Natural
Born Chiller gefällt mir natürlich wieder
mal der letzte Track am besten, melodische
Breaks, die Edvin seiner Freundin
gewidmet hat.

the middle of the 80s and were originally part of Project
Kode IV, but for the last ten years they have been
releasing music together as The Nommos. Gil is one of
the founding DJs of the scene as well as one of its most
colourful personalities. Both enjoy playing the Djembe
and Ariane holds African dance classes, the influence
of which can be heard in her music. As with their first
album in 1998, the new release will appear on Avatar
who will be celebrating their tenth anniversary early
next year.
Avatar was founded in the spring of 1997 by Avichay
Avigal who had previously worked as Artist & Repertoire
as well as Production Manager
at BNE. With their first release
»Ama Zone« from Asia 2001 the
label reached Sony‘s attention and
it became the first Psy Trance album
to ever be released in Asia. Since
2001, Avatar have had their »Pro
File« section where albums no longer
being produced (like those from
the BlueRoom stock) are rereleased.
All Avatar releases can be even be
found through the larger distributors

Oxygen Records Vibrapshere Remix Contest
Geboren wurde die Idee im Sommer
2004, selber interessante, innovative
Musik zwischen Progressive
Trance und Morning FullOn zu veröffentlichen.
Die erste Oxygen-CD
erschien auf dem damals noch
tschechischen Label dann im März
2005. Seitdem und besonders mit
der bisher letzten Veröffentlichung,
Nem (upper) and TV
der Compilation »Occurance« hat
das Team von Oxygen einen festen
Platz in den Herzen der Morning-Trancer
gefunden. Das Team
besteht in der Haupsache aus DJ
TV und DJane Nem und hat seinen
Hauptsitz inzwischen in Barcelona.
Die beiden haben eine Menge
Erfahrung und sind schon fast rund
um die Welt aufgetreten. Sie konnte
ihre Tracks auf vielen Floor testen,
und Musik, mit der sie sich nicht
identifizieren können, hat bei Oxygen
keine Chance. Die nächste Veröffentlichung
wird ein Album von
Setherian sein, in das ihr auf der
Website schon mal reinhören könnt.

Die zu Gemini gehörende, auf
digitalen Sound spezialisierte
Controller-Schmiede Cortex hat
das zweite Gerät released. Diesmal
in 3HE-Bauweise, so gibt es
größere Displays sowie eine Sample- und Loop-Sektion.
Das Grundprinzip dieser Wunderkisten ist, jegliche
Quelle wie USB-Sticks, iPods, CD-Laufwerke oder
mobile Festplatten an einen der vier Ports anzuschließen,
um den Sound von diesen über eine herkömmliche
Ordnerstruktur anzuzeigen und in gewohnter DJ-
Manier abzuspielen. Dazu kommt noch eine intelligente
Suchfunktion, was insgesamt gesehen den Computer als
Schnittstelle überflüssig macht. Preis etwa 800 Euro.
Auch Denon nimmt einen Multimedia-Player in das Programm
auf. Beim DN-HD2500 ist eine Wechselplatte
schon an Bord, daneben kann man auch alle möglichen
USB-Geräte anstöpseln und sogar auf ein herkömmliches
Doppel-CD-Laufwerk als Zubehör zurückgreifen.
Mit den gewohnten Jog-Wheels vom 1000er und dem
Stick-Search wird sich jeder Denon-Nerd gleich wohl
fühlen. Die in dieser Klasse ausschlaggebende Pitch-
Range liegt je nach Quelle zwischen 0.02 und 0.05 Prozent,
was ein sehr akzeptabler Wert ist. Releasedate ist
Anfang 2007, und der Preis wird bei 800 Euro liegen.
Runde drei wird eingeläutet bei einem der smartesten
DJ-Effekt Geräte, dem Kaoss Pad. Das intuitiv zu bedienende
Touchpad hat beim KP3 eine neue Beleuchtung
bekommen und wurde in ein übersichtliches Gitterraster
aufgeteilt. 128 Effekte lassen sich darüber steuern,
von denen einige komplette Neuentwicklungen sind.
Alle Moves lassen sich abspeichern und
überlagern, über die neue FX-Release-
Funktion enden Effekte in einem
Delay. Raffiniert. Ebenso neu ist beim
Samplen, dass dies nicht mehr in
Sekunden, sondern in Taktsequenzenvon
bis zu 16 Beats passiert. Die
daraus entstandenen Loops lassen
sich sofort wieder synchron einfügen

now released their second device.
Designed in 3HE it now has a larger
display as well as a sample
and loop section. The main feature to this box of tricks
is that you can plug all sorts of storage devices like USB
sticks, iPods, CD drives or portable hard drives into any
one of the four USB ports and display their audio content
in a familiar file manager system. This can then be
played in a traditional DJ fashion. On top of that you
get an intelligent search function which does admittedly
make the computer support gratuitous. Cost: about 800

too. The HD2500 comes with an hard drive already
included as well as the means to connect various USB

Miro Moric - mind blowing »acid art«
Die Psychedelische Kunst der Sechziger und Siebziger
profitierte davon, dass noch niemand Grafikcomputer
benutzen konnte, so blieb die umwerfende Acid Art lange
frisch und interessant.
Arbeiten von Leuten wie
Robert Crumb and Rick
Griffin sind bis heute für
viele eine Inspiration.
Im Zeitalter von Photoshop
und Draw lässt
sich dagegen Mittelmäßiges
am Fließband
produzieren.
Zum Glück gibt es
aber auch Leute wie
Miro Moric. Schon
mit 13 begann der
Münchener Graffiti
zu malen, und auch
wenn der Rechner
für den 36-Jährigen
ein zentrales
Werkzeug ist, wird beim Hinschauen
schnell klar, dass er mehr als nur ein paar Klicks
braucht, um so gute Bilder hinzukriegen. Der Art Director

Back in the 60‘s and 70‘s the Psychedelic
art world was covered in mind
blowing »acid art« and due largely to
a lack of computer graphics, it remained
fresh and interesting. Artists like
Robert Crumb and Rick Griffin provided
poster and vinyl art for many
leading psychedelic artists at the
Miro Moric
time such as Jefferson Airplane or
Grateful Dead and their work remains an inspiration
for many today. However programs like Photoshop and
Draw have made it a little too easy to churn out mediocre
images. Mandelbrot fractals with their infinite spirals
certainly provide an interesting topic for discussion, but
once you‘ve seen one it‘s unlikely that‘ll you be amazed
by another. Thankfully we have people like Miro Moric.
Born in Munich in 1970, he was a graffiti artist from the
age of 13 and although computers are an integral part
of his artwork today, posters like those from the Natraj
Temple parties make it clear that it‘s taken him more
than a few mouse clicks to create such beautiful images.
Now the Art Director for an advertising agency, he
spends much of his personal time designing flyers, posters
and CD artwork for Psy releases and events. His art
certainly inspired me to pick up my pencils once again.
He designed this month‘s cover artwork as well as the

that‘ll be split into different

Schlechte Aussichten für den Bahnhof
Putlitz-Süd / VooV Experience. Die
zugehörige private Bahnlinie Pritzwalk-
Putlitz soll im Dezember eingestellt
werden. Seit 2004 war das deutsche
PsyFestival schlechthin ganz direkt mit
dem Zug erreichbar, der direkt auf dem
Campingsplatz hielt.
In Putlitz ist zurzeit natürlich die Anbindung
des Festivals nicht unbedingt die
größte Sorge. Ohnehin schon in einer
ausgebluteten Gegend gelegen und
mit 20 Prozent Arbeitslosigkeit belastet,
haben die Putlitzer mehr und mehr das
Gefühl, dass man sie aufgibt.

nicht mehr zur Verfügung. Das Jodama-
Team sucht nach einer Alternative. Die
ZappelLounge ist davon natürlich nicht
berührt und geht weiter wie geplant.

»Da ich vor kurzem nach einer Party von
der Polizei angehalten wurde und mir
den Konsum von Drogen nachgewiesen
wurde, habe ich mich gefragt, warum mir
das passiert ist ... Erst jetzt, wo es zu spät
ist, weiß ich, wie der Hase läuft: Der Führerscheinentzug
für einen Monat oder so
und die 500 Euro Strafe sind nämlich nur
die Spitze des Eisberges. Wenn man zum
Beispiel öfter kifft, häufen sich Abbauprodukte
im Körper an, die unter Umstädenn
noch nach Monaten nachweisbar sind.
Falls dies in einer Blutprobe nachgewiesen
wird, meldet dies die Polizei der
Führerscheinstelle, welche generell die
Fahreignung in Frage stellt. Die hat in der
Regel eine MPU zur Folge. Für die MPU
braucht man einen Abstinenznachweis
für mindestens ein halbes Jahr. Das
Ganze kostet dann so 1000-1500 Euro,
vorausgesetzt man schafft die erste MPU.
Außerdem reicht bei anderen Drogen,
nur der bloße Besitz aus, um Zweifel an
der Fahreignung seitens der Führerscheinstelle
auszulösen.

Da es eine Vielzahl von Symptomen
gibt, gegen die Hanf helfen kann, ist
erst einmal die Frage, wie wohl der
Zugang zu therapeutischem Cannabis
geregelt werden soll. Noch
gilt das Anfang des Jahres absurd
verschärfte Antidrogen-Gesetz der
rechten Vorgängerregierung, während
sich einzelne Mitglieder der
Regierungskoalition öffentlich für
eine vollständige Legalisierung von
Cannabis aussprechen.

Meine erste Shisha hab ich vor ungefähr zehn Jahren
geraucht und war von Geschmack und Wirkung nicht
so begeistert – ich em pfand allerdings das gemeinsame
Rauchen mit Freunden als ein sehr angenehmes Ritual.
Heute ist das Shisha-Rauchen in vielen europäischen
Ländern fast schon allgegenwärtig.
Die Shisha ist eine orientalische Wasserpfeife, die aus
Indien stammt. In ihr wird ein spezieller Tabak geraucht,
der aus einer Mischung von Tabak, Melasse und Glycerin
besteht. Besonders in Europa gibt es diesen besonders
feuchten Tabak mit den verschiedensten Aromen.
Eigentlich hab ich mal gelernt, dass Shishas gepafft werden,
um einfach nur das oft fruchtige Aroma des Tabaks
zu genießen. Das scheinen aber viele Leute heute
anders zu handhaben, weshalb
wir ein paar Worte

found the experience
of smoking with friends
an an extremely enjoyable
ritual.
Nowadays, Shisha smoking
is becoming increasingly
commonplace in many
European countries. Traditionally smoked with a mixture
of tobacco, molasses and glycerine, the Shisa is a
Oriental water pipe that originally comes from India.
In Europe especially, this exceptionally moist tobacco
comes in a variety of flavours. I actually once learnt
that you only puff on Shishas to enjoy the fruity flavour
of the tobacco, but you do not inhale. However nowadays
many people seem to use it differently so we‘d
like to share a few words regarding safer use with you.
As well as the usual problems associated with smoking
tobacco, there are also a couple of specific drawbacks

Schwermetalle gehören, nur kleine Mengen heraus,
doch es hält den größten Teil des giftigen Stoffes Propenal
zurück, der bei der Verbrennung von Glycerin entsteht.
Shishas sollten am besten in gut gelüfteten Räumen
geraucht werden, um den Sauerstoffentzug auszugleichen.
Achtet darauf, dass die Pfeife immer gründlich
gereinigt wird.

to a lack of oxygen in your blood which effects your
heart and circulatory system. This means that drawing
the smoke into your lungs can make you feel lethargic,
even if it‘s only tobacco you‘re smoking. Some people
even get hungry from it ... Another danger is that the
water cooled smoke can be inhaled deeper into your
lungs therefore increasing the harmful effects thereof.
The water only manages to filter a small amount of
hazardous substances including heavy metals from the
smoke, but it retains most of the poisonous substance
propenal that comes from the burning of glycerine.
Shishas are therefore best smoked in well ventilated
rooms to balance out your oxygen intake. Also, don‘t
forget to make sure that the pipe is thoroughly cleaned

Ian Summs, Mitbegründer von Timecode,
steckt hinter Phyx - nach zahlreichen
Einzeltracks auf führenden Labels war es an
der Zeit für sein Soloalbum. Vielleicht steht
niemand wie er für diesen unverkennbar
südafrikanischen Sound: abwechslungsreich,
auf hohem Produktionslevel und von
diesem typischen Spirit gekennzeichnet.
Deutlich erwachsener klingt Ian, als man
ihn von seinen Einzeltracks her kennt,
dennoch ist es Phyx wie man ihn liebt. Oder
eben auch nicht. Ich sage, wer Timecode in
der Tasche hat, macht nichts falsch.
Timecode co-owner, Ian Summs is behind
Phyx and after numerous single releases on
some of the most famous Psy Trance labels
from around the globe it was about time he
brought out a solo album. Beside Artifakt
the artist stands the most for this typical
unmistakably spirit is spread by these freaky

The grandmaster of good vibes presents us
with an hour’s escape in his familiar freaky
fashion. He’s mixed a total of 27 tracks
together in a good 70 minutes and whilst
listening to it I can picture him dancing
ecstatically in my mind’s eye. Of course this,
like his DJ sets, is a pleasing blend of phat
beats and mystical samples, but as the CD
is mixed, it’s hard for DJs to use for their
own performances. However for that we
have the vinyl on which you’ll find the best

Na, das ist ja mal eine faustdicke Überraschung,
die uns der Herr Peacock da
unterjubelt. Ein Morningtrance-Album à la
Ocelot, wer hätte das noch vor einem halben
Jahr für möglich gehalten, kennen wir
ihn doch als den nächtlichen Acidboten mit
dieser speziellen Einstellung seiner Equalizer.
»Dream Selector« ist ein großartiges
Sommeralbum mit wunderschönen Flächen
und Arrangements, wie man sie von Ocelot
kennt, nur in ein ganz anderes, nach wie
vor ausgetüfteltes Gewand gesteckt, und hat
mir ständiges Lächeln und Mitwippen beim
Hören beschert. Super!
Possibly the biggest surprise this year is
Mr. Peacock’s new full length solo album
that astonished me big time. It’s a Morning
Trance album with beautiful atmospheres
and melodies, smoothly implemented
effects and a well chosen speed. This is
really phat and totally surprising; this leader
of the night time acid-twist with his special
equalizer settings delighting me with such
a well versed, emotional summer-trip.

release their tenth disc and prove all the
Psy-heads right again, that this is a serious
organisation operating from the middle of
Europe. As Yub Yam, the Peakers themselves
contribute two goodies, to be taken as
kind of appetiser for the proceeding album.

They fit brilliantly with a carefully compiled
line up including EVP, Drumatik and Ocelot,
culminating in the deep twisted fields of
the Clockstoppers. As kinda the guarantor
for the most multi-layered tracks, Atriohm
once again contribute the most exciting

Nach längerer Pause im Hause Shiva Space
bringt Shiva Jörg aus seiner Wahlheimat
Japan eine ganz fette Compilation an den
Start. Einen treffenden Titel hat er gewählt
und startet mit einem meiner Lieblinge,
Broken Toy, so geil, dass ich fast voreingenommen
an den Rest der Scheibe gehen
musste. Mitstreiter wie Damage, Wizard
Lizard oder A.P.E. stehen dem in nichts
nach und leisten ihren Killerbeitrag zu einer
fetten Scheibe.
After a long break, Shiva Jörg delights his
fans from his newly adopted home country
Japan with a really impressive comp. The
title makes it clear as to what it’s about.
The first track is by one of my all time favs,
Broken Toy, and is that phat I really had
to fight with myself not to be prejudiced
when listening to the rest of the CD. This
collection is made to tease the dance floor
in the right way with contributors like
Damage, Wizard Lizard and A.P.E. Alongside
Jörg himself, they all ensure that the real
psychedelic attitudes are alive and justify

Mit dieser CD wird klar, warum der Szene
ein Victor Zolotarenko so sehr fehlen wird.
Echotek »Changing Frame« (YoYo) CD
BNEs YoYo geht neue Wege, denn deutlich
progressiver als die bisherigen Releases
ist das dritte Album von Micha
Yossef aka Echotek. Natürlich stecken
hinter allem die fetten, treibenden
Beats, wie wir sie kennen,
aber doch kommen ein paar fast
schon housige Elemente hinzu, die
dem Ganzen einen neuen Groove
geben. Getragen von Percussions,
erzeugt Micha einen Drive, dem
man sich kaum entziehen kann. Langsam
steigert sich die Musik von ruhigen 135
bpm bis hin zum letzten Track, der dann
mit 142 Schlägen schon wieder an die
vorherigen Releases anknüpft.
Dies sind neun seiner bisher unveröffentlichten
Stücke, die eine derartige Tiefe
beweisen, dass es mich tief in den Sessel
drückt. Wunderschöne Soundgebilde aus
psychedelischen Atmosphären, eine leichte
lysergsche Brise und ein gaaaanz deeper
Drive. Das ist beachtlich und, wie ich finde,
einzigartig, nicht zuletzt wegen dieses subtilen
Schubs von hinten und der gemäßigten
Geschwindigkeit. Eine wunderbare Hinterlassenschaft,
veröffentlicht in Koproduktion
von Deja Vu und Vertigo Records.

Victor Zolotarenko will be missed in the
scene with his inimitable sound creations.

such a serious deepness and emotionality

Das neueste Album von Avi Levi aka
Ultravoice, einem der handwerklich besten
israelischen Producer, ist eine Allianz aus
Ko-Produktionen und gegenseitigen Remixen.
Dabei sind die Acts aus dem Compact-
Kader, aber auch andere israelische Prominenz:
Illumination, Perplex, Liroy & Rizo,
Tactic Mind, Bizarre Contact, Apocalypse
und Aquatica. Das Album ist durchgehend
druckvoll und bissig satt, dabei aber schlank
und schnörkellos, hier und da auch etwas
ravig und discoid. Es ist ein Album, das bei
aller Qualität den Zustand des israelischen
FullOn aufzeigt: die Produktionen sind
perfekt, die musikalischen Mittel jedoch
verloren, Konzentration auf Hub und
massive Grooves haben die mystische
Dimension und spirituelle Kraft in der Musik
verloren gehen lassen, es gibt einfach zu
viel beliebige Drogensportmusik und zu
wenig herausragenden Trance. Gerade von
Avi muss doch viel mehr kommen ...
The newest album from Avi Levi, aka
Ultravoice, one of Israel’s most skilled
producers is an alliance of co-productions
as well as remixes. Here you find acts from
the Compact pool, but also other prominent
Israelis: Illumination, Perplex, Liroy & Rizo,
Tactic Mind, Bizarre Contact, Apocalypse
and Aquatica. The album is impressive
and satisfyingly snappy, although lean and
uncomplicated and in places slightly ravey
and discoid. It‘s an album that illustrates
the state and fate of Israeli Full on from
2006 in all aspects: the production is perfect
however the musical medium has been lost.
Concentration on the structure and solidity
of the groove has meant that the mystical
dimension and spiritual powers have been
lost in the music. There‘s simply too much
common drug-sport music and not enough
outstanding Trance. It‘s people like Avi that

»U-turn« (Twisted) CD
Das neue Kox-Box-Album, wie habe ich
mich gefreut, als das Päckchen bei mir landete,
und dann werde ich von einem mehr
oder minder besseren Durchschnittsalbum
zurück auf den Boden geholt. Sicher sind
hier zwei Stücke herausragend, sicher ist
das Produktionslevel eines, an dem sich
so mancher orientieren sollte. Aber, und
eventuell bin ich da voreingenommen, ich
denke, wenn ein solcher Ausnahmekünstler
sein Album bei Twisted herausbringt, darf
ich was Besonderes erwarten.
I felt like a little kid when the Twisted
package landed on my desk and was eager
to taste what was inside. The new KoxBox
album! This CD, its diversity and its colourful
attitudes meet my expectations and I
definitely don’t want to complain, but I do
have to say that an artist like KoxBox should
be able to deliver something outstanding in
its entirety. No doubt it’s worth the buy, just
for the skilled work he presents to us and
there were a couple of tracks that I thought
were really good and that stand out in this
album. However, all in all, in comparison
to what I know is possible, it’s just a better
than average album which is a bit sad
coming from Twisted with this artist. (Ilse)

Trishula ist bekannt für den strengeren Stoff,

in nichts nach. Dennoch hat Chrysalid,
Label-DJ bei Trishula von Beginn an eine
bedachte Auswahl zwischen tiefenpsychedelisch
und Acidwahn treffen können, die
mich wirklich fesselt. Eine kompakte, in
sich schlüssige Zusammenstellung von acidorientiertem
Psytrance auf einem hohen
Level. Ein unbedingter Tipp für Freunde der
bewussten Synapsenstimulation.

Trishula presents the new release
compiled by DJ Chrysalid who’s been on
board since the beginning. Wow! He’s
found a well balanced way to fade between
deep psychedelics and acid-mayhem,
stimulating the right synapses in a manner
that definitely had me hooked. A concrete
as well as consistent line up with Vicious
Alchemy, Ocelot, Attoya and Jellyheadz hits
me with an acid orientated trip at a high

Recht bald nach dem ersten Teil erscheint
schon die zweite Runde, in der sich
viele, viele Acidlords mit Gleichgesinnten
zusammentaten, um ihre ganz eigene

Durchweg Koproduktionen von Mitstreitern
wie Kin dzadza, Tranger, Baphomet Engine,
ParaHalu oder Cyanescens bilden ein weit
gelungeneres Line Up als beim ersten Teil,
ohne jedoch den Underground aus dem
Fokus zu verlieren, und das ist auch gut so.
Quite soon after first part of the series,
Manic Dragon brings the second round of
the split personalities to the acid circuit.
Really a step ahead from the first part, these
tracks just make more sense to me on the
whole. Vs.-tracks by well known lords like
Kindzadza, Stranger, Baphomet Engine or
Cyanescens as well as new rising psychos
like Flipknot or Hishiryo who are making
sure that the underground is growling

verbergen sich Fabio Aurelio and Luiz
Secchinatto. Die beiden sind schon viele
Jahre dabei, und ich freu mich riesig für die
Baphomets, denn das sind so nette Freaks,
die es wirklich verdient haben. Die beiden
sind waschechte Rocker, und das hört man
auch in ihren Psystücken, die mit einer
gespenstischen Atmosphäre und vielen
kleinen verspielten Acidlines zu bestechen
wissen. Sie gehen auf ihrem Debütalbum
keine Kompromisse ein, und das weiß ich
sehr zu schätzen. Ein düsterer Trip ohne
auszubrechen ... Danke!
Ohhh, these two nice freaks from Brazil
really deserve the chance to finally present
their solo debut to the scene. Fabio Aurelio
und Luiz Secchinatto are two rockers which
is noticeable in the really spooky trip they
captivated me with. Eerie atmospheres
pepped up with modulated acid lines and
a rolling deep bass line throughout are distinctive
for this trip and I know these nutters
have worked hard for ages to make this

on CD serves us with energetic Tulla Trance,
the Progressive CD is in comparison the
exciting one. With Vibrasphere‘s »Floating
Free«, Silicon Sound‘s remix to Side A‘s
»Synopsis« and Freq‘s »What, A Feeling« we
get three of this summer‘s best tracks. To
go with this we have two highly attentionworthy
tracks from Genetic Spin, a bit of
Kularis and two extravagances by Side A

»Sabotage Part 2«
(Exposure Productions) CD
Mickey Noise und Uriel sind mit einem
neuem Album am Start. Zehn neue Full-
On-Tracks, in wie gewohnt vertwisteter
Manier für die Primetime der Nacht. Recht
fordernd, aber nicht düster, denn die
uplifting Melodien und die eingestreuten
Elektro-Schnipsel hellen das Ganze doch
angenehm auf. Doch es bleibt schwer
Synapsen verwirrend. Wobei der Titeltrack

mit Michele Adamson als Gastsängerin im
Techtrance-Gewand wohl nicht nur Freaks
begeistern wird. Auch der Track mit John
00 Fleming und der »Africa«-Remix sollten
nicht unerwähnt bleiben.
Mickey Noise and Uriel are back with their
new album. Ten new Full on tracks in their
accustomed twisted manner for the nights
prime time. Extremely demanding, but not
too dark as the uplifting melodies and the
interspersed Electro snippets lighten the
whole thing up nicely. Naturally it remains
disorientating to the synapses, although
the title track with Michele Adamson as
the guest singer in a Tech Trance guise will
impress not only Psy freaks. The track with
John 00 Fleming and the »Africa« remix also
deserve a mention. Those that like their
psychedelic music on the wild side should
definitely check out this CD. (Tulla)
Klopfgeister
»Sunflavoured« (Iono Music) CD
Zwei Jahre sind seit dem ersten Album ins
Land gezogen, und die Zeit haben Thorsten
Paul und Jens Schefzig genutzt: Sie sind
durch zahllose Live-Auftritte längst kein
Geheimtipp mehr. Mit ihrem speziellen,
leicht hölzernen Klanggewand und der
Gratwanderung zwischen Progressive und
PsyTrance passen sie ideal auf morgendliche
Psy-Floors oder in die Primetime im
Club. Trotz aller Wärme und einer Portion
beschwingten Funks im Rhythmus klingen
die Klopgeister immer noch deep und
nah am Underground. Teilweise braucht
es aber etwas Anlauf, bis der Zündfunke
überspringt. Der Downbeat-Anfang mit
orientalischer Kopfnote wäre in jedem Chill
ein Highlight, Anspieltipps sind »Sunflavoured«
mit einem killer Break und knackigen,
nicht zu schnellen Beats und auch »Riders
of the Eucalypse« mit schon an Neelix erinnerndem
Druck. Unbedingt anchecken.
It‘s been two years since their first album
came out and Thorsten Paul and Jens Schefzig
have been busy in the meantime making
a name for themselves as a live act. With
their special, slightly woody sounds and
their tightrope walk between Progressive
and Psy Trance, they suit the morning Psy
floors brilliantly as well as the prime time of
the club. Despite all the warmth and a dose
of lively funky rhythm, the Klopgeister still
sound deep and close to the underground.
Sometimes it just takes a little time to get
things going. The Downbeat beginning with
an Oriental overtone will be the high light
of every Chill set and other tips include
»Sunflavoured« with a killer break and crisp,
moderate speed beats and »Riders of the
Eucalypse« with nice reminder of Neelix like
impression. Definitely check it out. (Tulla)
Genetic Spin
»Spin City« (Psytropic) CD
Mit coolem gebreaktem Intro und der
deutlichen Message »Electro« packt mich
die CD mit ihren Vocals und Melodien
und steigert langsam den Druck. Funny
Loops und oldschoolige Elemente auf
satten Kicks, trocken und treibend, die
direkt in die Beine gehen. Die vielen Vocals
geben dem Album einen leicht housigen
und fast poppigen Einschlag, funky Beats
und Breaks unterstreichen »Spin Citys«
fröhlichen Charakter. Eine wirklich schöne,
reife und vor allem zeitgemäße Interpretation
von Goa.
With a cool breaky intro and the clear
message »Electro«, this CD grabs me with
its vocals and melodies and picks up gradu-
ally from there. Funny loops with oldskool
elements on lush kicks - dry and direct they
go straight to my legs. The many vocals give
the album a light housy, almost poppy feel
and funky beats and breaks underline »Spin
City‘s« happy nature. A truly lovely, ripe
and most of all contemporary interpretation

»The Remixes« (TIP World) CD
Das Goa-Dream-Team namens 1200 Mics
legt mal wieder eins ihrer sehnsüchtig
erwarteten Alben vor. Nach dem Live-
Album hier nun einige ihrer Hits als Remixe
von der Who’s Who-Liste der aktuellen
Psy-Produzenten. Sie selbst beginnen und
remixen »High Paradise«, den Track mit
dem Fan-Gesang, dermaßen dick und
twisted, dass mir die Spucke wegbleibt.
Mir ist es schon zu wild, aber das ist mal
wirklich ein dicker Strahl. Astrix hingegen
schafft es, mich mit seinem »Mescalin«-
Remix sofort zu begeistern, intelligent setzt
er die prägnanten Samples und Melodien in
neue Zusammenhänge, bleibt dabei schön
schlank, und setzt mehr auf den Uplift
statt auf platten Kick. Hit! Leider reicht kein
weiterer Track an diese beiden Highlights
heran, vieles bleibt einfach zu blass oder
einfallslos. Eigentlich Schade.
The Goa dream team 1200 Mics once again
present us with a highly anticipated album.
After their live album we now have some
of their hits remixed by the who‘s who list
of current Psy producers. They start the CD
themselves with a remix of »High Paradise«,
the track with their fans singing, this time
phat and twisted, that takes my breath
away. Although it‘s a little too wild for me
I can‘t but help have respect for them,

that‘s. Astrix once manages to once again
to amaze me with his »Mescalin« remix.
Masterfully he puts the concise melodies
and samples in to a new context, keeping
it very tight and places more emphasis on
the uplift than on the flat kick. Hit! Unfortunately
none of the other tracks on the
album come anywhere near it, remaining
too plain and simple. A pity really as the
remixers and tracks promise a lot at first

Skazi
»Total Anarchy«
(Chemical Crew) CD
Wow, das ist anders. Als Fan von Skazis
früheren Sachen und mit meinem Interesse
an der Entwicklung der Psyszene war ich
sehr gespannt, womit Asher Swissa uns jetzt
wohl kommt. Klar, er ist unkonventionell
und tief in sich drin eigentlich auch ein
Rocker - aber das hier wird alle, bis auf die
ganz open minded Psyleute abschrecken.
Zwar ist gutes Psymaterial auf der CD, interessante
Ideen - aber weil Skazi ein größeres
Publikum sucht, kommt in jedem Track
irgendwann die Stelle, die ihn mir verdirbt.
Wow, that was different! Having been a
fan of Skazi’s earlier releases and having
an interest in the Psy scene‘s development
over the years, I was very curious to hear
what Asher Swissa would come up with. I
know that he’s unconventional and a rocker
at heart, but this CD will make all but the
most open minded of Psy listeners cringe.
The thing is, although there is good Psy
material amongst it and some interesting
ideas, Skazi’s determination to appeal to
a wider audience means that every time
I started to get into a song, something
would come along and spoil it for me.
Annoying vocals and a blasphemous mix of
The Prodigy’s »Out of Space« were all too
much for me and I would advise Psy fans
practice extreme caution before buying this

Compiled von DJ Mikadho, der mit seinen
schönen Sets immer bekannter wird, enthält
die zweite »Map of Goa« 18 Tracks, neun
unreleaste. Die erste CD ist Mikadho‘s
Sicht des FullOn gewidmet, etwas höheres
Tempo also, aber von freundlichen, uplifting
Sounds geprägt. Die härtere Gangart
bleibt außen vor. Auf CD 2 sind nur selbst
erprobte Progressive-Tracks von Leuten wie
Feuerhake, Sun Control Species oder dem
weniger bekannten Atma aus Rumänien.
Das einzige Problem mit dieser CD ist: Für
den Anspruch, der »ultimative Führer durch
Psychedelic Trance« zu sein, ist die stilistische
Bandbreite einfach zu schmal.

who is becoming increasingly well known
for his enchanting sets, volume 2 in the
»Map of Goa« series contains 18 tracks of
which 9 are previously unreleased. The
first CD is Mikadho’s idea of Full on and
although the speed is slightly quicker than
on the second, friendly, uplifting sounds
and overly protective beats mean that it
just doesn’t pack the punch that some of us
need to really get going. CD 2 on the other
hand is a selection of tried and tested Progressive
tracks from names like Feuerhake,
Sun Control Species and less well known
acts such as Atma from Romania and
provides listeners with an even gentler view
of Psytrance. The only really fault with this
compilation is the lack of variation as with
the ever-broadening definition of what Psy
is, I feel that »the Ultimate Guide through
Psychedelic Trance« should cover a far

»Open Air – Season 2006«

»Open Air« gibt einen ganz guten Überblick,
was auf Progressive/Progressive Full on
Floors diesen Sommer gelaufen ist, aber
ihrem Titel wird die Compilation nicht
gerecht. Sie liefert nur einen eingeschränkten
Überblick, für DJs sicher praktisch
- aber ob sich das in drei Monaten noch
jemand anhört?
Although I know the truth to be far less
scandalous, I can’t help but feel that Alex
at YSE walks into a room full of Oompa
Loompas every morning awaiting yet
another suitable release to feed the masses
with. »Open Air« is yet another attempt at
presenting a selection of what the scene
has to offer and although the tracks give
you a good idea of what was playing on
the Progressive/proggy Full on floor, it fails
to live up to the ambiguity of the title. The
CD only manages to give a fairly restricted
view of the Psychedelic scene and although
DJs may find it a handy addition to their
arsenal, it’s unlikely that anyone will still be
listening to it three months from now. (krz)

V.A. (Turbo Trance) CD
Wieder hat El Didion eine Compilation für
Turbo Trance zusammengestellt. Diesmal
bin ich allerdings etwas enttäuscht. Die
Tracks von Deedrah und Elec3 überspringen
wir, um uns direkt am warmen Groove von
Manmademan zu erfreue. Außerdem dabei:

Triptych und Ecliptic. Tikal verabreicht dem
»Groovy Pygmees‘ Part 1« zu Beginn reichlich
Acid und eine dicke Ravenote, amtlicher
Remix. Danach kommen zwei psychedelische
Leckerbissen von Sonnick und Polaris,
zum Abschluss noch eine verspielt-spaßige
Nummer von Orion.
However this time I‘m slightly disappointed.
We‘ll skip the tracks from Deedrah and
Elec3 and go straight to the warm grooves
of Manmademan. At 140 bpm, this track is a
delightful psychedelic morning track. Afterwards
Triptych, Ecliptic with a nice little tool
for DJs. Tikal takes »Groovy Pygmees‘ Part
1« and enriches it with plenty of acid and
a phat Rave feel to begin with, a stunning
remix. Next we have two psychedelic tit-bits
from Sonnick and Polaris and a fun number

»Psycomex – Tlaloc«
V.A. (AP) CD
Tlaloc ist der Geist des Wassers und die
vierte CD in dieser Serie, die der mexikanische
Tranceszene einen Schub gegeben
hat. Dass die Acts es draufhaben, bestätigt
sich einmal mehr. Forza & Smugh eröffnen
unerwartet langsam und progressiv-kraftvoll
mit einer fast schon sexy zu nennende
Melodie, die ganz dezent immer wieder und
wieder erblüht. Weiter geht’s mit quirligen
und erdigen Tracks und teilweise netten
uplifting Melodien bei flotter Drehzahl. Von
Lamat & Forza gibt’s eine leicht kratzige und
druckvolle Morningnummer. F.F.T. schaffen
es wie immer, mit ihrem Sound langsamer
zu klingen als angezeigt. Außerdem dabei:
Psypsiq Jircuri und Space.
Tlaloc is the Water Spirit as well as the
fourth CD in this series which has given the
Mexican Trance scene a boost and once
again the artists show us that they know
what they‘re doing. Forza & Smugh start
things off unexpectedly slow and progressive
with what could almost be called a sexy
melody that blossoms time and time again.
It then goes on with lively, earthy tracks
with the occasional nice uplifting melodies
at a brisk speed. From Lamat & Forza we
have a slightly scratchy impressive morning
number. As always, F.F.T. manage to sound
slower than the counter would have you
believe. Psypsiq Jircuri and Space are contributing

Dem In:Deep:An:Dance:Festival war kein
Glück zuteil, die Compilation mit seinen
Acts erscheint glücklicherweise trotzdem.
Vibrasphere ließen sich wohl nur »Purple
Floating« vom vorletzten Album aus der
Nase ziehen, der Rest der Tracks ist jedoch
neu. Hannes (Vaishiyas) kommt mit dem
Titeltrack, dazu nochmal mit Rene und
Ringo als Emphacis und von Audiomatrixx
remixt, Fabio und Döniz mit einem
witz igen E-Funk-Knaller, Perfect Stranger,
Lightsphere, die Mad Contrabender noch
als Duo und auch als progressives Projekt
Mummra mit einem der besten Tracks der
Compilation.
Unfortunately, the In:Deep:An:Dance:
festival in Northern Germany didn‘t go
as planned, but the CD with tracks from
the festival‘s acts is released anyway
luckily. Vibrasphere seem to have only
allowed them to use »Purple Floating«
from their next to last album, everything
else is new though. Hannes delivers the
title track himself, and also appears with
Rene and Ringo as Emphacis remixed by
Audiomatrixx, Fabio and Döniz with an
amusing E-funk cracker, a Perfect Stranger
and a very nice Lightsphere track, one by
Mad Contrabender (still being a duo by
then) and one by their Progressive project
Mummra, which is one of the best tracks on

Sehr nette FullOn-Compilation, zum Teil
begrüßenswert avantgardistisch, mit
höchst psychedelischem Gehalt. Das
innovative Moment überwiegt definitiv.
Astralex hat sorgfältig die Tracks für das
Debütrelease des Labels ausgesucht: Sie
gehen alle bedeutend tief in ihren Sound-
Kreationen und komplex groovenden, sich
oft verwirrend überlagernden Harmonien.
Perplex, 2 Hi, Bliss, Vibra und andere
produzieren bemerkenswert und mit
stilistischer Raffinesse. Das Ganze ist eine
äußerst vertrippte und schnelle Angelegenheit,
aber mit genügend neuen Ideen, um
mich zu überzeugen.
A really nice collection of highly psychedelic,
avant gardish Full on tracks. Astralex
gives us some monster tunes that contain
deep sound structures in connection with
groovy overwhelming basslines. Specific
Neo Full on in perfection is obviously
24/7’s aim; so be prepared for this massive

excellence, das sich an der Grenze zum
triefend-groovenden Acid bewegt. Broken
Toy, Mekkanikka, Tube, Pitch Hikers und

Sehr düster, kreativ und bizarr geht’s in
schnell wechselnde Soundwelten. Stürme
von diversen melodischen Leads und
knirschenden Sounds fliegen einem um
die Ohren, gepaart mit dem häufigen
Wechsel der Bass-Oktave. Annähernd
genial, aber wahrlich vom Stuhl hebend
wird der futuristische, aber nie einfach
nur experimentelle 24/7-Stil im zweiten
Release fortgesetzt.

that often verges on the border of groovy

Allein schon um diese CD zu bekommen,
sollte man am 11. November früh auf der
Somnambul in Hamburg erscheinen, denn
die ersten 300 Gäste bekommen dieses
lecker Scheibchen geschenkt. Ob die CD
jemals in den Handel kommt, ist nicht
klar. Unveröffentlichte Neelix-Tracks der
letzten zwei Jahre sind hier am Start, einige
Leckerbissen seines sexy Trance mit groovy
80er-Discoschub.
To get your hands on this CD, you‘ll have to
arrive early at Somnambul in Hamburg on
November 11th as this tasty disc will only
be given to the first 300 guests. Whether or
not it will be available in stores later is still
not clear. On this CD you‘ll find unreleased
Neelix tracks from the last two years and
certainly sexy, 80s-groove disco-vibe Trance

Clutch aka Tonio aus Japan hat acht Tracks
der 130er Klasse versammelt, die durch das
progressive Niemandsland zwischen Trance,
House und Elektro fließen. Mal angeknarzt
wie bei Chris Cargo, mal weicher gespült
wie bei Cypher Drone aus Japan und
Platicin Porters, mal verträumt housig wie
Trancefeld. Dazu kommen zwei klasse
Nummern von Lounge Control und La Baaz,
und Clutch setzt allein sowie zusammen
mit dem Franzosen Motion noch eineinhalb
Highlights drauf. Lohnt sich.
Clutch, aka Tonio from Japan has selected
8 tracks that float through the beautiful
progressive haze where Trance, House
and Electro meet at around 130. Crisp and
slightly scratchy like Chris Cargo or more on
the soft side like Cypher Drone from Japan
and Platicin Porters from France or even
dreamy and housey like the German Trancefeld.
Swiss acts Lounge Control and La
Baaz add two amazing tunes and on top of
that we have Clutch‘s solo which, along with

Zwei CDs, die erste gemixt von Lexicon
Avenue, die zweite von Dave Seaman,
dem Head dieses Labels. Sehr schöner
Prog-Sound, ein paar Minimalanleihen und
durchweg sehr treibend. Ganz klar CD des
Monats. Nur hat dieser Promo-Tonträger
alle fünf Minuten ein so schreckliches Störgeräusch,
dass meine Lautsprecher mir fast
um die Ohren fliegen. Lieber Dave Seaman,
liebe Labelbetreiber. Verschont uns in
Zukunft mit diesem Schrott. Vielen Dank.
Two CDs, the first mixed by Lexicon Avenue,
the second by labelehad Dave Seaman.
Very nice Prog, a few minimal tendencies
and very propelling throughout. Clearly CD
of the month. The only thing was that this
promo copy made such a horrible noise
every five minutes that my speakers didn‘t
enjoy at all. Dear Dave Seaman, dear label
operators, spare us such junk in the future.

Ein komplett englisches Erzeugnis ist der
Nächste auf Plastik Park, Richard G. Ball und
Matt Rickard mit einem runden Debüt. Ihr
Original fliegt oben und schiebt unten wunderbar,
mir liegt aber die pumpende Knarzvariante
- der Nick Valerio Mix - näher, der
ist kauziger und irgendwie zwingender.
Plastik Park‘s next release was completely
made in England; Richard G. Ball and Matt
Rickard appear with a strong debut. Their
original track balances flying melodies and
driving bass work in a wonderful way. But
to me the Nick Valerio Mix does it better,
with its pumping vibe and serrated bassline
it‘s somehow more compelling. (cla)

Nach einigen Compilation-Tracks und einer
EP kommt das erste Album von Jabba aka
Carlos Techachal, in Mexiko auch als DJ und
Partyorganisator bekannt. Er schickt uns auf

und tief hypnotischen Trance. Absolutes
Highlight ist Track 7 mit Breakbeat-Intro,
klassischem Trance, Stampfebeat und der
Wandlung zum Techtrance und zurück.

Well known as a DJ and a party organiser in
Mexico, Carlos Techachal is the man behind
the mask. He sends us on a groovy journey

die volle Bandbreite seines Djings, je eine
für Downbeat, Midbeat und Uptempo –eine
Reise durch die aktuellen Trends, dufte
umgesetzt. Prädikat wertvoll.
Jimmy can M appears is back on the scene
with a stupendous triple compilation. As
support for Sasha and John Digweed on
their Delta Heavy tour as well as having
tracks and compilations on Bedrock, he‘s
been making a name for himself and here
he shows us the range of his DJing ability.
One Downbeat, one Midbeat and one
Uptempo - everyone will find their style and
from now on your attention. A trip through
the current trends, executed brilliantly.

Für die neue Vertikal-Compilation haben
Tomtron und Klangstrahler acht verführerische
Tanzbodenfüller zusammengestellt
und bleiben natürlich ihrem progressiven
Stil treu. Den Auftakt machen Sonic Cube
mit einem sexy-deepen Track, der seine
Spannung aus einem sich herrlich von hinten
anschleichenden Ton bezieht und nur
ganz kurz housig erblüht. Jabbas Beitrag
beginnt oldskool, wandelt sich aber bald zu
einem Groovemonster mit modernem 80er-
Elektro-Einschlag und trancigem Ende. Der
funktioniert auf jedem Floor. Tomtron und
Liesegang brennen auf reduziertem Groove
ein schon an AcidHouse erinnerndes Feu-

erwerk an Pleeps und Plongs und dezenter
House-Note ab. Sweat Attack wird erst nach

true to their progressive style. Sonic Cube
starts things off with a deep sexy track.
Jabba‘s contribution starts off oldskool, but
soon changes into a groove monster with a
modern 80s Electro beat and trancy ending.
Tomtron and Liesegang then deliver an acid
house cracker of a track. Sweat Attack only
gets good after the break.Forza‘s crunchy
drive at a cuddly 133 beats, powerful and
spiced up with the sex and funk, is my

Nun kommen die Auskopplungen von
»Atomic Atmosphere«, dem aktuellen
Album von Fitalic. Der Titeltrack ist drauf,
weiterhin ein schiebender, angehouster
Track mit netten Flächen, soviel Sonne im
Track lässt einen morgens die ganze Welt
umarmen. Als Zugabe gibt es einen Remix
des Titeltracks von Thomas Penton, der den
technoiden Vibe des Originals zu schneidendem
Electro-House aufpimpt.
Here we have breakaways from »Atomic
Atmosphere« the current album from Fitalic.
The title track is a driving, housified track
with nice expanses that has so much sun in
it that it makes you want to hug the whole
world. In addition there‘s a remix of the title
track by Thomas Penton that takes the technoish
vibe of the original and pimps it into

Cyklones
»City of Klones« (YSE) CD
Seit 2001 produzieren Philippe Sancier und
Pierre Dauny zusammen. Philippe hat sich
mittlerweile als Sensifeel einen Namen
gemacht, und auch zusammen sind die beiden
Franzosen schwer groovy und trancig
progressiv. Irgendwie ist alles im Fluss, teilweise
merkt man gar nicht, dass schon ein
neuer Track begonnen hat. Darin liegt aber
auch das Manko, dieses Album ist ideal für
entspannte Autofahrten oder Spiele-Abende
mit Freunden, als DJ muss man einiges
kürzen, sonst wird’s langweilig.
Philippe Sancier and Pierre Dauny have
been producing together since 2001. Philippe
has in the meantime made a name for
himself as Sensifeel and even together the
two Frenchmen are really groovy and progressively
trancy. Somehow it all just keeps
flowing, sometimes you don‘t even realise
the next track‘s begun. Alas, therein lies the
albums shortcoming, it‘s great for relaxing
car journeys or evenings playing with
friends, but as a DJ you‘ve got to keep them
short or they soon get boring. (Tulla)

Minimal. Aber ganz minimal vor allem.
Das erste Fuckpony-Album ist gefüllt
mit verspielten Synthies, verzerrten und
verpitchten Vocals, die einfach dazu
ermuntern, ein bischen mehr an der Bowle
zu nippen, die hoffentlich irgendwo auf der
Party noch zur Verfügung steht. Ab und zu
kommt es uns Trance geprägten Menschen
vielleicht wie loungiger Chillout vor, aber im
Ganzen ist das ein gutes technoides Album.
Zu empfehlen sind auf jeden Fall Tracks wie
»Ride the Pony«, die dafür sorgen, dass ein
bisschen Stimmung aufkommt.
As soon as I insert the CD into my player
and start to listen it, the first thing that
comes to my mind is: Minimal. But really
minimal. The first Fuckpony album to be
released by GetPhysical Music is filled with
playful synthies and vocals that encourage
you to take a little nip of the good stuff that
is hopefully still somewhere at the party.
For us Trance lovers, it might come over
as Lounge Chill out at some points, but on
the whole this is a nice album to listen to.
I personally recommend »Ride The Pony«
that adds a little spice to the people´s

»Smorgasboard« ist das Debütalbum von
Mike Monday, der schon seit 1994 unter
verschiedenen Namen produziert. Wenn du
das hörst, wirst du von verschiedensten Elementen
überwältigt, von der ganzen Größe
dieses Releases. Er fängt mit funky Electrosound
an, geht zu Strandfeeling über und
steckt auf einmal tief in Minimaltechno. Ein
Muss für Leute, die Diversität zu schätzen
wissen und nicht immer an das 4/4-Muster
gebunden sein wollen.
Smorgasboard is the debut album from
Mike Monday who has been producing
under various aliases since 1994. If you listen
to him, you get overwhelmed by all the
different elements which burst with all the
goodness he has put into this release. He
starts off with funky electrical sounds, goes
over into what I call a beachy feeling and as
you venture further into the album you find
yourself listening to great rhythmic minimal
techno. A must in my opinion for lovers
of diversity and people who don‘t always
expect the same 4/4 pattern. (Oscar)

You take a driving House beat, mix it with
a 303 like Ritchies audio experiments
from the beginning of the 90s and add a
pointless vocal on top. A finished acid hit.
But it hits the spot, mine and that of current
times. Looks like a period of revival for the
accordian. Well, then let‘s get the Smiley

Elektronik, die gekonnt die Vergangenheit

sich Brahms und Mozart neben Mousse T.
oder dem dänischen Synphonieorchester.
Mir allerdings ist der Klassik-Einfluss auf
dieser CD doch ein wenig zuviel.
As is clear from the name, this release
centres around classical music, that’s been
skillfully linked to the here and now. And
so we have Brahms and Mozart alongside
Mousse T. or the Danish symphonic
orchestra. The classical influences on this
CD are a little too much for me personally

Bis Track 3 braucht Ihr keine Angst zu
haben, dass einer Eurer Chiller aufwacht,
denn ruhige Melodien laden zum Träumen
ein und eignen sich besonders gut zum
Einschlafen. Aber mit Gaudi ändert sich
das dann ein wenig. Es wird rhythmischer,
mit Breaks, Einflüssen aus dem Reggae
und fetten dubbigen Basslines. Genau
die richtige Musik, um mal wieder einen
zu bauen.
There‘s no need to worry about waking
up chillers until the third track as gentle
melodies invite you to dream and are
particularly good for falling asleep to.
Things change a little with Gaudi. It gets
more rhythmic with breaks and Reggae
influences as well as some phat dubby

Ganz großes Kopfkino habe ich auf dieser
CD gefunden. Erstklassiker Psy-Chillout
mit extrem hohem Shpongle-Faktor.
Meine eigentlich bis fünf reichende
Wertungsskala wurde deutlich durchbrochen,
denn diese Musik ist so deep und
emotional, dass der ein‘ oder andere Track
einfach eine höhere Wertung verdient.
Orientalische Feelings wechseln sich mit
sakralen Chören ab und hüllen mich
in eine verträumte Stimmung ein, die
ihresgleichen sucht. Besondere Highlights
sind Astropilot mit »Son of the Sky« und
The Gathering mit »12 Tribes«. Musik wie
aus 1001 Nacht.
A mind-blowing experience is what I found
on this CD. First class Chill out with an
extremely high Shpongle factor. It clearly
breaks through the boundaries of my
usual on-a-scale-of-1-to-5 rating system as
this music is so deep and emotional that
one or two of the tracks simply deserve
a higher rating. Oriental feelings swap
with sacral choirs to wrap me in a dreamy
mood that searches for more of the same.
Particular highlights are Astropilot with
»Son of the Sky« and The Gathering with
»12 Tribes«. Music that sounds like it‘s

Das erste Release des Labels aus Bali
ist gleichzeitig das dritte Release des
süddeutschen Künstlers Jürgen Eppinger
aka Taruna. Auch dieses Mal hat er eine
kleine Weltreise für die Ohren erschaffen,
die man am ehesten als Worldmusik
kategorisieren könnte. Orientalische und
vorderasiatische Instrumente und Gesänge
erschaffen eine angenehme Tempel-
Atmosphäre, die man besonders gut am
Lagerfeuer genießen kann. Diese Tracks
werden sicher einen Platz in meinen
Chillout-Sets finden.
The first release from this Bali label is now
the third release from the South German

for your ears that could be most accurately
described as World music. Oriental and
Near Eastern instruments and singing create
a cosy temple atmosphere that would
be great for enjoying around a camp fire

(Fungus Spore) CD
Die vor zwei Jahren erschienene DVD
»World Spirit« war ein Projekt von Kenji
Williams und Alex Grey, dem berühmten
Psychedelic-Künstler. Jetzt bringt uns
Fungus Spore den Soundtrack dazu. Zwar
bin ich nicht der allergrößte Chill-Fan,
aber ich kann es trotzdem genießen. Das
Problem ist die Geige, sie ist viel zu schrill,
und dadurch nervt sie mehr als dass sie
beruhigt. Im Unterschied dazu ist die Hintergrundmusik
eine schöne elektronische
Traumreise, die ich gerne – ohne Geige
– zum Einschlafen hören würde.
Fungus Spore have now released the
soundtrack to the »World Spirit« DVD
that came out a couple of years ago, a
co-project between the famous psychedelic
artist Alex Grey and »Creative Director«
Kenji Williams. I‘ll admit I‘m not the biggest
Chill fan, but that doesn‘t stop me from
enjoying it once in a while. The problem
with this is the violin, it‘s far too shrill and is
therefore more annoying than it is relaxing.
On the other hand, the background music
is a lovely, dreamy electronic journey that
I‘d gladly fall asleep to if it weren‘t for the

»A Faint Light From The Depth«
(Electronic Dope) CD
Diese CD ist ein wenig schwer zu klassifizieren,
gehört aber wohl am ehesten in
diese Rubrik. Vielleicht könnte man sie
als Freestyle bezeichnen, denn es wurde
eine Menge versampelt und mit einer
gehörigen Prise Acid aufgemischt. Nach
einem schönen, von einem Piano getragenen
Introtrack geht es auch schon los
- nicht wirklich schnell, aber schön schräg.
Elemente aus Elektro, TripHop, Trance
und ein paar klassische Instrumente in
einer Art und Weise aneinandergefügt,
dass es genau der richtige Sound für die
irre Stunde ist.
This CD is a little difficult to categorise, but
it probably fits best under this heading.
Perhaps one could call it freestyle as there
are loads of samples mixed with generous
doses of acid. It gets going after a nice
piano backed intro track, not too quickly,
but certainly twisted. Elements from
Electro,TripHop, Trance and a few classical
instruments are blended together in some
form or other to produce just the right
