-The LTE Buzz September Edition LTE At the Walter Sisulu University Convocation Walter Sisulu University (WSU) was established on 1 July 2005 resulting from the merger of the former University of Transkei (Unitra), Border Technikon and Eastern Cape Technikon. The new university was named in honour of an icon of the South African liberation struggle and close comrade of Nelson Mandela, the late Walter Max Ulyate Sisulu. On the 3rd of August the Walter Sisulu Convocation hosted a Leadership Forum at the Sandton Balalaika Hotel to discuss developments and challenges facing the Institution. Invited speakers of the evening included the WSU Chancellor Dr Brigalia Bam, Vice Chancellor Prof. Marcus Malusi, Council Chairperson Dr S. Fikeni, Mr Sango Ntsaluba, Dr Siyanda Makaula and LTE Group CEO Mr Thulani Majola. Speakers of the evening reiterated on how the institution had played a pivotal role over the years in the development of fine graduates especially in areas of medicine. They also expressed the challenges of posed by the merger and lack of suitable funding. Speaking at the event, LTE Group CEO Thulani Majola expressed that LTE Group was happy to sponsor the event. He was also adamant that for the institution to move forward and attract Corporate partners, they needed to ensure that administratively they did a proper audit of their systems and policy. He committed that LTE would be willing to assist if given the space and platform.
