UClubbers Ride a Century for Best Buddies
On June 4th several University Club of Boston mem-
bers headed out of Dorchester to bike ride 100 miles to
Hyannis Mass in support of Best Buddies. Best Bud-
dies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to
establishing a global volunteer movement that creates
opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated em-
ployment and leadership development for people with
intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Robin Jaye, successfully completed her 1st Century ride
and with style swallowed 3 hamburgers, a plate of stir
fry, and 2 brownies before showering up and going into
dinner for a traditional New England styled Clam Bake.
UCLUBBERS, Arlene & John McLaren (very serious
bike riders), and Best Buddies veterans finished in ap-
prox. 7 hours in change.
Randy Carpenter of “Team Seaside Therapeutics,” and
veteran Best Buddies rider crushed the ride in 51/2
hours! If that was not a big enough feat then let’s all ap-
plaud Randy because her was the #2 fundraiser bring-
ing in an excess of $29,000.00!
Want to have some fun and enjoy some strong bragging
rights? Next Year’s ride is scheduled for 6/2/12. The
minimum fund raising goal is $1,500.00! Start training
and begin your fundraising, and join the FUN!
