Some of the College’s recent
successes
• We were inspected by Ofsted and achieved the
highest possible grades for all areas of our work. As
a consequence the College was officially graded as
an ‘outstanding’ provider of education and training.
• The number of students that have stayed on their
course and passed their examinations is in the top
10% of all colleges nationally.
• We have established new work-related foundation
degrees in response to identified skills shortage
areas. These are Motor Engineering, Software
Engineering, Physical Activity & Sport and Hospitality
Management.
• The College has opened a high specification 3G all
weather sports pitch.
• We have gained an excellent reputation for our
programmes that support unemployed people back
into work.
• The College has built a new sports pavilion and
established a high quality gymnasium for our
learners, staff and communities.
• The College has implemented a ‘Single Equality
Scheme’ in accordance with best practice in
the public sector. All of our students and staff
received appropriate training on their rights and
responsibilities contained within the scheme.
• We have reduced our carbon footprint during the
year by cutting energy consumption by over 70
tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Working toward future success
Bacup Vocational Centre
• The College is planning to open a new vocational
centre at Stubby Lee in the Rossendale Valley.
• The College will be working in partnership to support
and develop 14 - 19 education in the boroughs of
Hyndburn and Rossendale.
