Wembley Downs primary school children pick up their feet for their student assessors<br />

A child undergoes the assessment<br />

Almost 200 children from Wembley Downs<br />

Primary School lined up this month to have a<br />

foot-health screen by fourth year podiatric<br />

medicine students.<br />

<strong>The</strong> final year students assessed the feet and<br />

legs <strong>of</strong> school children in kindergarten<br />

through to Year 7 and provided simple<br />

advice.<br />

Podiatric Medicine Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

Jennifer Bryant said letters would be sent to<br />

the homes <strong>of</strong> a number <strong>of</strong> children who could<br />

benefit from more thorough examination.<br />

“We suggest they should seek advice from a<br />

local podiatrist or attend our student clinic,”<br />

she said.<br />

<strong>The</strong> survey was a great success and the<br />

school was overwhelmed by the number<br />

<strong>of</strong> responses from parents wanting their<br />

children to participate in the survey,<br />

Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Bryant said.<br />

“It was very impressive to see our<br />

students conduct themselves very<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionally and very efficiently.”<br />
