In the rough climate of the Sauerland the 

advantages of wood as a self renewing fuel 

have been well known since time immemorial. 

Wood logs are an economical and 

sustainable source of warmth as well as a 

focus for family comfort and security. 

Within this tradition, DROOFF Kaminöfen 

develops its durable high quality woodburning 

stoves in the town of Brilon, where 

there is more forest than anywhere else 

in Germany. These give the magic of fire 

an attractive appearance while fulfilling 

all the safety requirements of a modern 

fireplace. They combine outstanding combustion 

characteristics and efficiency with 

advanced convection, storage and waterheating 

technology. 

Most of our production facilities and 

almost all of our suppliers are German 

companies. However, our stoves are designed 

and their quality tested by a team of 

committed experts at our company HQ in 

Brilon.

PHILOSOPHY 

The history of mankind is inextricably linked with the command of fire. In the distant 

past, it meant not only warmth, but light in the depths of winter. Over more 

than 20000 generations, the life giving power of fire has ”burned“ itself into the 

human consciousness. 

It is only in the recent past that technical progress has been able to provide us 

with heat without seeming to use fire. When switching on a light bulb, a radiator 

or a ceramic glass hob, no-one ever thinks of the hidden power behind them, i.e. fire. 

It seems that only a few generations are enough to cloud our awareness of something 

which was of vital importance to our forefathers. But who can resist the 

mystery of a bonfire, memories of childhood campfires, potatoes roasted in ash, 

the warmth and security of the home fireplace? 

The staff of DROOFF Kaminöfen have made it our task to bring the magic and the 

usefulness of fire back into the modern home. The cosiness, the crackling of burning 

wood, the thoughts that come just watching the play of the flames - all these 

mean Home. This need for a refuge from our hectic daily routine is something 

which we at DROOFF try to fulfil.

It is a convenient source of information for owners, 

chimney sweeps and tradesmen, allowing them to 

determine whether a solid fuel fireplace fulfils the following

When buying a stove, the customer is often 

influenced by the number of kilowatts. 

after all, the kilowatt is a unit of power. 

However, many people are not aware of 

the fact that wood-burning stoves have no 

“fixed“ kilowatt capacity. Instead, it is the 

amount of fuel placed in the firebox which 

determines the power of the stove. 

What does the stated number of kilowatts 

mean? 

The number of kW specified for the stove 

is its rated heating capacity. The manufacturer 

defines a certain quantity of fuel at 

which the stove can be operated perfectly. 

Since different fuels and types of wood 

contain different amounts of energy, the 

quantity of fuel is not stated in kilograms 

but in kilowatts. For example, in a woodburning 

stove, one kilogram of dry beech 

wood generates three kW of heating 

power. 

Important for the buyer: 

all the data relating to emissions, efficiency 

etc. refer to the rated heating capacity 

defined by the manufacturer. In other 

words, if I use an amount of fuel in my 

stove which differs considerably from the 

amount corresponding to the rated heating 

capacity, I cannot depend on achieving the 

figures stated by the manufacturer. For 

this reason, DROOFF Kaminöfen is the only 

producer of stoves who has them tested to 

at least two heating capacities. 

The advantage for you: 

is that you can rely on your DROOFF stove 

burning cleanly and economically with 

both large and small amounts of wood. 

This means that you can use your stove 

on icy winter days as well as chilly spring 

or autumn days, and still achieve perfect 

results.
