a new look that gives <strong>the</strong>m<br />

an appearance more consistent<br />

with <strong>ACDelco</strong>’s wide range of<br />

automotive plugs. The design changes affect<br />

49 different part numbers across select l<strong>in</strong>es,<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Conventional, rAPIDFIrE ® Performance,<br />

and Professional Plat<strong>in</strong>um.<br />

“The spark plugs with <strong>the</strong> new look are<br />

completely <strong>in</strong>terchangeable with those that<br />

have <strong>the</strong> previous design,” expla<strong>in</strong>s robert<br />

Malone, <strong>ACDelco</strong> product development manager.<br />

“They also can be mixed and matched <strong>in</strong><br />

an eng<strong>in</strong>e with no impact on performance.”<br />

In addition to <strong>the</strong> new look, <strong>the</strong> name pr<strong>in</strong>ted<br />

on <strong>the</strong> box for <strong>the</strong> rAPIDFIrE Performance l<strong>in</strong>e<br />

patented technoLogy heLps reduce noise <strong>in</strong> new BeLt L<strong>in</strong>e<br />

siren, alert<strong>in</strong>g you that someth<strong>in</strong>g’s<br />

not right under <strong>the</strong> hood.<br />

It’s belt noise. A nd with <strong>the</strong><br />

exception of brake squeal, <strong>the</strong>re<br />

are few vehicle problems that irritate<br />

motorists more.<br />

<strong>ACDelco</strong> is offer<strong>in</strong>g a new solution<br />

to <strong>the</strong> age-old belt noise problem with its<br />

<strong>in</strong>troduction of V-ribbed serpent<strong>in</strong>e belts,<br />

featur<strong>in</strong>g advanced technology that makes<br />

<strong>the</strong>m among <strong>the</strong> quietest <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> aftermarket. In<br />

fact, it’s so advanced it’s patented.<br />

“This is a major improvement <strong>in</strong> aftermarket<br />

belt construction and technology,” says Chris<br />

“The change positions rAPIDFIrE as a s<strong>in</strong>gle plat<strong>in</strong>um<br />

performance spark plug <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> market,” Malone says.<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r changes <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

• <strong>ACDelco</strong> Conventional spark plugs now have a ceramic<br />

<strong>in</strong>sulator rib configuration of one fat, two sk<strong>in</strong>ny to<br />

standardize <strong>the</strong> appearance.<br />

• <strong>ACDelco</strong> Professional Plat<strong>in</strong>um and rAPIDFIrE Performance<br />

Plat<strong>in</strong>um spark plugs now feature a ribless<br />

ceramic <strong>in</strong>sulator design to help improve <strong>the</strong> spark<br />

plug-to-boot contact surface area.<br />

• Select spark plugs now have a longer shell body that<br />

helps give consistent spark plug resistor performance,<br />

while ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> overall spark plug length.<br />

• All spark plugs now feature <strong>the</strong> <strong>ACDelco</strong> logo. •<br />

The EPDM construction and gum-backed overcords<br />

are similar to what is used on orig<strong>in</strong>al equipment<br />

(oE) vehicle belts. They also have a wider temperature<br />

range and less shr<strong>in</strong>k/stretch, so <strong>the</strong>y meet oE<br />

fit and performance criteria as well as length<br />

tolerance capability.<br />

“These characteristics give <strong>the</strong> new belts better<br />

capability to deal with <strong>the</strong> more aggressive oE<br />

belt-drive systems,” Vermette says, add<strong>in</strong>g that<br />

part numbers will stay <strong>the</strong> same as <strong>the</strong> new belts<br />

are <strong>in</strong>troduced as runn<strong>in</strong>g changes to <strong>ACDelco</strong>’s<br />

current l<strong>in</strong>e.<br />
