About BCA

BCA Consultants is a premier Australian building services consultancy.
Internationally recognised for design excellence, BCA has been
implementing world-class building services solutions for over 20 years.
From the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, to a major extension to
the Abu Dhabi International Airport, BCA has proven its ability to deliver on
any project, to any specification, on schedule and to budget.
BCA is based in Perth, and yet our presence is felt much wider than that.
BCA is the specialist building services arm of the wider VDM Group –
a leading Australian publicly listed engineering and construction company.
BCA provides specialist engineering services for a diverse range of
projects within Australia and internationally.

Our senior engineering staff alone have a combined 236 years’ experience
in building services / consulting engineering.
The ingenuity of our staff has resulted in BCA being frequently
recognised and awarded locally and internationally, ever since the
company’s inception.
Since 1996, BCA has received numerous local and international awards
and commendations, for various lighting, building services, energy
efficiency, design and construction works conducted in Australia.

As Burswood moves forward under the ownership of Crown, BCA is
committed to continue to set a benchmark for design and customer service.
More recently, BCA has recognised and responded to the need for 6-star
specification in building services. This includes works completed for the
Intercontinental Hotel Room and Passages refurbishment, The Hotel
Atrium buffet and lobby refurbishment, the Sky Salon, Rockpool, Nobu,
external pool lighting, and Level 9 Infinity Suite.

We’ve met the design challenges:
• BCA developed a customised below-floor distribution system for the
gaming floor, which will allow gaming machines and gaming tables to
be quickly relocated to any position, without the need to add services
infrastructure.
• BCA implemented a dual feed distribution system, which enables
the casino substation to undergo periodic maintenance of all vital
switchgear and HV equipment, whilst your customers enjoy their
gaming experience.
• BCA designed and engineered one of Australia’s first Thermal
Displacement systems for the Casino Sports Bar and multilevel
nightclub, providing a highly efficient low energy conditioned
environment utilising low velocity air discharged through low level fixed
furniture and walls.
• BCA keeps Burswood informed of changing technologies, including
live testing of cutting edge lighting tools for client and guest feedback.
• BCA’s extensive network of local and national industry partners,
including infrastructure and supply authorities, service providers and
product suppliers; help us to generate fast delivery from suppliers,
rapid response to prototyping and speedy delivery of products to site.

We’ve already mentioned that BCA has a strong commitment to client
needs. Here are some of the ways we go above and beyond to deliver
better outcomes for Burswood.
• We interrogate sub consultant designs to ensure their content is
coordinated with the needs of Burswood’s various user groups.
• We take on a role of checking consultant, working closely with
interior designers, architects, and builders to ensure every detail and
contingency is considered.
• We work alongside Burswood user groups to ensure they are
fully informed of design options that will ensure the best outcome for
their projects.
• We regularly conduct site visits to keep up to date with progress
and monitor the quality of workmanship.
• We provide a reassuring attendance to site maintenances from
lighting scene re-programming at midnight to attendance at HV
switching procedures in the early hours of the morning.

team. VDM services are delivered through two major centres of operation
in the East and West of Australia, consisting of multiple offices.

Flexibility of engagement
Our aim is to provide you with total flexibility when engaging our expertise
to ensure your project receives the best possible outcome. Accordingly we
provide a range of scenarios including but not limited to the following:
• A total building services solution: this has the advantage of a
dedicated services project manager, and services coordination
manager to keep the project on track
• Selected building services package
• Joint Venture partnership: BCA has long standing professional
partnerships with local and international clients offering the benefits
of local representation and knowledge. We can partner with Crown’s
consultant of choice.
• Schematic and design development phases only, with novation across
to the successful main contractor to conduct a value engineering
exercise, and final tender/construction issue documentation.
• Checking consultant role direct to either the owner or the main
contractor for nominated services, to conduct design, code
compliance, safety in design reviews, and design certification.

Permanent site presence
Where a project has a tight construction programme or is particularly
technically challenging, BCA has provided permanent site attendance. This
approach provides efficiencies in decision making, coordination and transfer
of information, and does not necessarily result in higher overall costs.

Abu Dhabi International Airport Expansion,

BCA Consultants were approached to provide design and engineering
services for the proposed expansion of the existing International Airport,
which included a new terminal, satellite, air bridge, multi storey car park,
power complex and apron building.
Working together with BCA for the design of this project were Parsons
as project managers, Perth based architects Woods Bagot, and French
project architects and consultants ADP.
BCA Consultant’s involvement included producing tender
documentation for:
• Terminal – Complex lighting design, power (low voltage and high
voltage), communications, security and access control, air-conditioning
and fire detection/suppression systems.
• Satellite – Complete lighting design, power, communications, security,
access control, air-conditioning and fire detection/suppression systems.
• Air Bridge – Complete lighting design, power (low voltage),
communications, security, access control, air-conditioning and fire
detection/suppression systems.
• Multi-Storey Carpark – General, emergency lighting, power,
air-conditioning and fire detection/suppression systems.
• Power Complex – General lighting and power, low voltage and
high voltage power generation, distribution, air-conditioning and fire
detection/suppression systems.
• Apron Building – Complete lighting design, power, communications,
security, access control air-conditioning and fire detection/
suppression systems.
