to transportation over the years has<br />
positioned the community for continued<br />

The <strong>Fullerton</strong> Transportation Center<br />
provides Amtrak, Metrolink, and<br />

Most recently, <strong>Fullerton</strong>’s Transportation<br />
Center Specific Plan Project received<br />
numerous awards: the “2011 Neighborhood<br />
Planning Award” given by the California<br />
chapter <strong>of</strong> the American Planning<br />

Award” by the Southern California<br />

To accommodate transit passengers and<br />
visitors to the city, the SOCO West parking<br />
structure broke ground in spring 2011 with<br />
an anticipated opening in summer <strong>2012</strong>. The<br />
new structure will have four levels—three<br />
above-ground and one subterranean. It<br />
will add 812 spaces to the existing center’s<br />
surface and parking structure spaces. The<br />
new spaces will also include additional longterm<br />
parking to serve the growing number<br />
<strong>of</strong> Amtrak California’s Pacific Surfliner<br />
intercity rail service and Southern California<br />
Regional Rail Authority’s Metrolink<br />
commuter rail service patrons. The project<br />
will also include a pedestrian bridge over<br />
Harbor Boulevard to connect the structure to<br />
the <strong>Fullerton</strong> Transportation Center platform.<br />
Four major freeways surround <strong>Fullerton</strong>:<br />
State 91, Interstate 5, State 57, and State 55.<br />
The city is also home to <strong>Fullerton</strong> Municipal<br />
Airport, a general aviation airport.<br />
