D. Western Beach Car Park
The Western Beach car park occupies a signifi cant site on the waterfront
and is accessed from Western Foreshore Road. This car park, although
concealed from the Baywalk by a linear grassed mound, still dominates this
section of the waterfront between the marine precinct and the Youth Activity
Area. Any redevelopment of this site should aim to minimise at-grade car
parking.
Currently, a lack of trees and the bare swale in the car park detract from the
amenity of the area and contribute to a sense of disconnection between the
landscapes of the western beach and central waterfront zones.

� In the event of major redevelopment of this site encourage new publicly accessible uses that are appropriate for the waterfront and that seek to minimise
at-grade car parking on the foreshore .
� Ensure that any redevelopment of this site maintains the adjacency of the pedestrian path to the water's edge.
� Residential development prohibited.
Specifi c Actions
� In the short to medium term replant the car park area with appropriate shade trees and add public seating.
� Reinstate the planted swale to the edge of grassed mounds facing the carpark.
� This site could be incorporated into any redevelopment of sites C3 & C4.
� Redevelopment should seek to minimize at-grade car parking on the foreshore.
