The CNC for standard machines<br />
SINUMERIK 802D sl is a powerful, compact numerical control. It integrates all of<br />
the components of a CNC control (NC, PLC, HMI) and the automatic speed control<br />
in one operator panel.<br />
Operating range<br />
With its performance range and up to five<br />
axes (of which two can be spindles), the<br />
SINUMERIK 802D sl is best-suited for standardized<br />
turning, milling machines, grinding<br />
and nibbling machines. The additional<br />
option of a PLC-controlled axis in the drive<br />
system expands the application by one<br />
independent, non-interpolating axis.<br />
Performance and functionality<br />
The SINUMERIK 802D sl is very easy-touse<br />
thanks to DIN programming, ISO<br />
code, and ShopMill- or ShopTurn-based<br />
setup. Cycle and contour definitions<br />
make programming easier. There is also<br />
a commercially available CompactFlash<br />
(CF) card. This is accessible from the front<br />
and can be used for backing up complete<br />
series and startup files as well as part<br />
programs. Programs can also be executed<br />

Whether high static torques or rated powers, high maximum<br />
speeds or dynamics, air- or water-cooled, linear or rotary<br />
motions – our comprehensive range of motors offers the<br />
right type for every drive task across a wide performance<br />
range. These include synchronous and asynchronous servo-<br />
motors, as well as highly innovative linear and rotary direct<br />
drives.<br />
1FK7 servomotors<br />
for standard applications<br />
The 1FK7 series of synchronous servomotors<br />
have proven themselves as the standard<br />
for motion control tasks. They require<br />
little space for fitting and are characterized<br />
by a high power/weight ratio, high dynamics<br />
as well as a favorable torque/moment<br />
of inertia ratio. They also offer a plug<br />
system with freely rotatable line direction<br />
and have a high degree of protection. The<br />
static torques of the motors lie between<br />
0.18 and 48 Nm. Their rated speeds range<br />
between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm.
1FT7 servomotors<br />
for high-performance applications<br />
The new 1FT7 synchronous servomotors<br />
feature excellent concentricity and are<br />
designed for use in demanding machine<br />
tool manufacturing scenarios. The mo -<br />
tors cover rated speeds from 1,500 to<br />
6,000 rpm and static torques from 2 to<br />
120 Nm. They are extremely compact<br />
and feature a newly developed encoder<br />
coupling. This provides the encoder with<br />
a high level of protection against sudden<br />
loading. These new motors have a cross<br />
profile that facilitates easy mounting<br />
even from the back. At the same time,<br />
a rotatable plug with a quick lock simplifies<br />
connection and cable routing in all<br />
mounting positions for shorter mounting<br />
and service times.<br />
Direct drives for maximum precision and dynamics<br />
1FN3 linear motor<br />
The main advantage of linear direct drive<br />
technology is the extensive avoidance<br />
not only of elasticity, play and frictional<br />
effects, but also natural oscillations in the<br />
drive train.<br />
This allows for maximum dynamics and<br />
precision in Motion Control. In combination<br />
with the SINAMICS S120, we offer<br />
you a drive system that optimally covers<br />
all machine tool manufacturing requirements.<br />
Our 1FN3 series of linear motors<br />
are characterized by the highest traversing<br />
speed of up to 800 m/min, extremely high<br />
dynamics and outstanding precision. They<br />
have IP65 degree of protection and enable<br />
maximum forces up to 20,700 N. In addition,<br />
they do not have any transmission<br />
elements such as ball screws, couplings<br />
or belts.<br />

1FW6 torque motor<br />
<strong>Siemens</strong> torque motors are ideally suited<br />
for extremely high-torque rotary axes and<br />
they can be integrated directly into the<br />
machine. They work with maximum precision<br />
and dynamics as they avoid elasticity<br />
and play in the drive train. Total weight<br />
and frictional forces have been minimized.<br />
They are also characterized by their high<br />
availability as they have no wear-prone<br />
transmission elements.<br />
Another advantage is that they require<br />
little space due to their compact design<br />
and small number of components. The<br />
1FW6 torque motor is the first choice for<br />
installation in rotary indexing machines,<br />
rotary tables, swivel and rotary axes,<br />
spindle machines, dynamic tool magazines<br />
and main spindles in milling machines.<br />
The torque motors offer torques ranging<br />
up to 8.570 Nm.<br />

Main spindle motors for highperformance<br />
machine tool applications<br />
Main spindles of turning, milling and grinding machines can be driven<br />
in many different ways such as by belt drive, hollow-shaft motor, built-in<br />
motor or integrated motor spindle. Cutting performance, manufacturing<br />
accuracy and availability of the main spindle drive make a major contri-<br />
bution to the machine’s productivity. This is where motor spindles are<br />
clearly on the rise. Their advantages include their very high maximum<br />
speeds and their extremely low susceptibility to vibration. The result:<br />
high productivity and surface quality.<br />
Asynchronous main spindle motors<br />
1PH7 motors –<br />
rugged and low-maintenance<br />
The air-cooled, four-pole asynchronous<br />
1PH7 motors with cage rotors are used in<br />
small compact machine tools, complex<br />
machining centers and turning machines.<br />
Their performance ranges from 3.7 to<br />
100 kW. The maximum speeds range up<br />
to 12,000 rpm.<br />
1PH4 motors –<br />
water-cooled for tough conditions<br />
Compact, water-cooled 1PH4 motors<br />
are recommended everywhere where<br />
extreme environmental conditions make<br />
air-cooling impractical. They have a high<br />
power/weight ratio and constantly low<br />
temperature values. The coupled mechanical<br />
systems are not thermally stressed<br />
as even the flange is cooled. The performance<br />
of these motors ranges from<br />
7.5 to 65 kW, the maximum speed is<br />
12,000 rpm.
1PM4 and 1PM6 motors with<br />
hollow shafts<br />
1PM4 and 1PM6 motors have been specifically<br />
designed for direct mounting on<br />
mechanical spindles. The hollow, drilled<br />
shaft enables cooling lubricant to be fed<br />
to interior-cooled tools. Their performance<br />
ranges from 3.7 to 27 kW and the<br />
maximum speeds of both versions range<br />
up to 18,000 rpm. The air-cooled 1PM6<br />
motors are rugged and nearly maintenance-free,<br />
four-pole squirrel-cage induction<br />
motors with a performance ranging<br />
from 3.7 to 22 kW. When used in modern<br />
machines, liquid-cooled 1PM4 motors<br />
maintain constantly low temperatures<br />
despite having a high power/weight ratio.<br />
Asynchronous built-in motors<br />
1PH2 motors for direct drive<br />
The 1PH2 built-in motors are liquid-cooled,<br />
three-phase asynchronous. They are used<br />
for applications where the motor must<br />
be integrated into the machine based on<br />
the compact design. The smooth, precise<br />
running of the spindle, even at the lowest<br />
speeds, ensures that the workpiece is<br />
machined to the highest accuracy and<br />
without the effects of transverse drive<br />
forces. Their performance ranges from<br />
7.5 to 30.9 kW.<br />
Synchronous built-in motors<br />
Synchronous main spindle motors:<br />
highly dynamic and extremely compact<br />
1FE1 built-in motors are compact, watercooled<br />
synchronous motors which are<br />
supplied as components: stator and<br />
rotor. Their maximum speeds range up<br />
to 40,000 rpm with a performance range<br />
up to 104 kW (S1 mode), and are offered<br />
in the main variants high-torque and<br />
high-speed. Permanently-excited motor<br />
spindles (PE spindles) increase the power/<br />
weight ratio and cost-effectiveness of<br />
CNC machines. They are used where the<br />
shortest ramp-up times are required and<br />
the highest demands are also placed<br />
upon machining quality, accuracy and<br />
smooth running.<br />

Motor spindles<br />
with high control dynamics<br />
Motor spindles are characterized by their<br />
rigid, compact construction, extremely<br />
high power/weight ratio coupled with<br />
re duced weight and lower frictional forces.<br />
There are no additional transmission elements<br />
such as belts or gears. This enables<br />
the shortest machining times and high<br />
control dynamics. The direct measurement<br />
of the spindle position and speed gives you<br />
high machining accuracy.<br />

Fast, easy programming<br />
Graphical programming enables individual<br />
parts and small batches to be programmed<br />
very quickly. Even without DIN/<br />
ISO knowledge, technological production<br />
steps can quickly be turned into work<br />
plans that clearly show all the relevant<br />
information of the individual steps.<br />
Dynamic help displays enable inputs to<br />
be made without documentation.<br />

inputs to be made. ShopMill and Shop-<br />
Turn also allow DIN/ISO programming as<br />
an alternative to graphical programming.<br />
A simulation option ensures maximum<br />

have been certified according to the latest<br />
standards by testing agencies that are recognized<br />

Integrated acceptance test<br />
The effectiveness of the safety functions<br />
used can be tested by the integrated<br />
acceptance test in a simple manner –<br />
the log is generated automatically.
Intelligent fire safety<br />
with Sinorix al-deco STD<br />
European law requires fire protection for any machine tools and re-<br />
lated equipment exposed to fire hazards. The Sinorix al-deco STD is<br />
an intelligent fire extinguishing system that can be flexibly installed<br />
into machine tools. It features unpowered detection and extinguishing<br />
functions, online monitoring and automatic recording of all safety-<br />

Extinguish fire quickly and safely<br />
The Sinorix al-deco STD extinguishing<br />
unit is based on a pneumatic system<br />
for detecting a fire and triggering the<br />
extinguishers. That means the system<br />
is impervious to technical interference<br />
and able to detect and extinguish fires<br />
without any electrical power whatsoever.<br />
To enable this, a system of tubing is laid<br />
in the interior of the machine tool. This<br />
tube is referred to as Lifdes (Linear Fire<br />
Detection Source) and, under pressure,<br />
acts as a linear fire sensor that breaks at<br />
temperatures greater than 110 degrees<br />
Celsius. If there is a loss of pressure in<br />
the tube, an attached valve triggers the<br />
extinguishing mechanism. For comprehensive<br />
monitoring, all safety-related<br />
functions are monitored online; unusual<br />
events are signaled acoustically and with<br />
a visual display. These functions, along<br />
with the operating data, are automatically<br />
recorded in long-term memory and<br />
can be retrieved via a USB interface.<br />
