CINEMA VISIT -Y3 & 4
Year 3 and 4 will go with the other children from the garrison to a viewing of The Chronicles of Narnia at Barker
Barracks on Monday 13 th December 2010. This has been organised by the garrison and we thank them for putting this
special show on for our children. The school fund will pick up the cost of this visit.
LUNCHES
As from the start of the spring term, you will be able to have a complete choice for school lunches. Therefore, on any
day you can decide whether your child has a hot lunch, salad or a packed lunch. We thank the office staff as well as the
chef for enabling this to take place. Please ensure that the proforma is returned in time as our numbers will
fluctuate, and knowing how many are having hot or salad each day will assist the chef with her ordering.
CHRISTMAS CARDS
The school post box is in the front foyer. Please ensure that the card has the CHILD’S NAME and CLASS clearly
marked on the front of the envelope. The last day for posting is Thursday 16 th December. Thank you.
A number of parents ask for lists of the children in class for a variety of reasons; birthday invites, Christmas cards etc.
Unfortunately, due to data protection and information assurance regulations we are unable to provide you with these. I
thank you for your understanding with this matter.
FUNDS FOR WILLIAM WORDSWORTH
We have an opportunity to receive a percentage of any purchase you make when buying on line. If you go to our
website www.wwschool.ik.org click onto ‘Our School’ and scroll down to ‘Fund Raising Webshop’. Once you click on
this it takes you to a site from which you can purchase items as you would do normally. I have tried it twice and apart
from initially going through our website it is no different from what I would do when purchasing on line. I now have it
in my favourites. There is no extra charge levied on you, and we do not know who or what has been bought. Different
retailers give different amounts, but you will not know how much is being sent to our UK school fund account.
However, it can be as much as 10% as it was on two purchases I made during half term. (We can look into an overview
which registers the amounts received from the order, but as I said earlier from whom or what is being bought is not
recorded.) Please note the advice given, that all retailers do not always send to BFPO.
So if you are buying on line, please do go through our website. You will be contributing to our School Fund.
ATTENDANCE
I am accountable for attendance levels in school and these are scrutinised by the SGC, Garrison, Authority and
OFSTED when they visit. Therefore every week I monitor the attendance figures. Last year the annual attendance
figure was 94.11%. Each year the Headteacher and SCE have to set a target for attendance; this is common practice in
UK. Therefore, the target for William Wordsworth School is 94.50%.
I thank you in anticipation of your support with school attendance.
The 1 st half term’s attendance from September – October 2010 averaged out at 96.52%, which is very good. Thank you.
and KS1 (Y1 & 2) Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. We also place a basket of fruit in the KS2 (Y3 & 4) open area for them
to pick a piece as they go out to break. The Fruit & Vegetable Scheme is an SCE initiative and paid for by the
authority.
Fruity Friday is supported by NAAFI as they are providing the fruit free of charge, and preparing it in the kitchen for
us. This is greatly appreciated. Today it was Fruit Selection and the next few weeks are as follows:
We are looking forward to celebrating the birth of
Jesus and we would love for you to join us. We will
be decorating the St Christopher’s Church before
having a ‘scratch’ nativity. We are asking children to
come along dressed as a person or animal from the
nativity. Then we will have a party tea. To do this we
are asking parents to bring some food along with
them and we will have a ‘bring and share’ party tea.
Colour in this invitation
and bring it with you.
