CELEBRATIONS IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE<br />

Race for space<br />

VIRGIN GALACTIC, which recently moved<br />

<strong>to</strong> Half Moon Street, chose Jack Barclay in<br />

Berkeley Square <strong>to</strong> host the first European<br />

showcase of its model spaceship.<br />

Virgin is selling the chance <strong>to</strong> become<br />

among the first non-professional<br />

astronauts <strong>to</strong> venture in<strong>to</strong> space in its<br />

privately built spaceships. It hopes <strong>to</strong><br />

deliver space trips as early as 2009.<br />

Tickets cost $200,000 and deposits start<br />

from $20,000.<br />

plaque at 67 Brook Street where<br />

the band’s manager and<br />

producer Robert Stigwood lived.<br />

This was also where Robin and<br />

his brothers Barry and Maurice<br />

spent much of their time<br />

composing songs between<br />

1968 and 1980.<br />

Celebrating<br />

with style<br />

TO CELEBRATE its 80th<br />

birthday, E<strong>to</strong>n Shirts has<br />

launched what it claims is the<br />

world’s most expensive tailored<br />

shirt. Priced at £23,000, the<br />

evening shirt is woven from the<br />

finest Egyptian cot<strong>to</strong>n and the<br />

studs and cufflinks are adorned<br />

with coloured diamonds.<br />

The shirt will be on display<br />

at E<strong>to</strong>n s<strong>to</strong>res around the world<br />

before being auctioned for<br />

charity next spring.<br />

HARRY WINSTON will be<br />

hosting an exhibition of rare<br />

jewels inspired by its archives<br />

from June 26 <strong>to</strong> July 11. The<br />

Incredibles Exhibition, which<br />

takes place in the s<strong>to</strong>re at 171<br />

New Bond Street, will showcase<br />

the jewellery as well as<br />

sketches of the original pieces.<br />

The exhibition is by<br />

appointment only and all the<br />

pieces are available <strong>to</strong> buy.
