pleasantly for most of September is 

about to head south, no doubt the 

same direction that lots of us would 

like to be heading in search of a

Anne Clark ist eine Legende der elektronischen 

Musik. Ihr Sprechgesang, ihre Hits haben auch 

viele von uns beeinflusst, die in den Achtzigern 

vielleicht noch ein bisschen jung für die Disco 

waren. Zum Start ihrer Deutschland-Tour stellt sie 

uns brandneues Material zur Verfügung, damit Ihr 

Parallel zu der Entwicklung 

von Techno in den späten 

Achtzigern verbreiteten 

sich die Möglichkeiten der 

Musikproduktion, sie wurden 

einfacher, besser, billiger - demokratischer. 

Heute reichen ein 

Computer, die richtige Software, 

viel Zeit und ein Gehirn zum 

Produzieren. Eine Revolution. 

Du bist eine vielseitige Künstlerin 

mit unter anderem Literatur- und 

Theater-Projekten - aber vor 

allem bist Du eine Legende der 

elektronischen Musik. Warum 

hast Du Dich in den letzten 

Jahren nur mit Akustik-Projekten 

und Releases in herkömmlichen 

Bandstrukturen befasst? 

Es hat mich gelangweilt, was vor sich 

ging. Mir geht‘s darum, etwas Neues 

zu erschaffen. Etwas, das nicht einfach 

nur seelenlos und uninspirierend 

ist. Moderner Musik scheint es 

oft an Originalität zu mangeln. Wie 

Ihr schon gesagt habt, Du brauchst 

nur einen Rechner, ein paar Programme, 

Zeit und ein Hirn. Glücklicherweise 

hat mir die Phase ohne 

diese ganze Szene auch die Möglichkeit 

eröffnet, zurückzukommen und 

mir dabei richtig Zeit zu nehmen, ein 

paar interessante Leute und Projekte 

zu finden. 

Die Psytrance-Szene entdeckt 

nun die musikalische Intensität 

deiner frühen Stücke, um sie in 

frischer Art einem neuen, jünge-

ren Publikum zu präsentieren. 

Was weißt Du über diese Szene? 

Was denkst Du über sie und über 

musikalische Resultate, die Du 

gehört hast? 

Es ist nicht leicht, all die Kategorien 

von Electronic im Blick zu behalten, 

so dass ich eher weniger auf Namen 

achte. Wenn ich einen bestimmten 

Sound oder Stil höre und er 

inspiriert mich, probiere ich einfach 

etwas damit zu machen. Im Moment 

arbeite ich mit ganz unterschiedlichen 

Arten von Künstlern, die meinem 

Sound eine neue Perspektive 

geben können.

Ganz ehrlich, meine Einblicke in die 

verschiedenen Trance-Szenen sind 

recht begrenzt, aber es ist sicherlich 

eine Inspiration, dass Leute aus mir 

eher fremden Szenen meine Sachen 

remixen und neue Versionen produzieren. 

Letztes Jahr bist Du auf dem 

Fusion Festival aufgetreten, eins 

der vielseitigsten deutschen 

Musik-Events, eins unserer liebsten. 

Wie war‘s? 

Ich hab es sehr genossen auf dem 

Fusion Festival zu spielen. Ich fühle 

es remixen könnt! Und obwohl Anne Rummel um 

ihre Person und Interviews nicht mag, ist es uns 

gelungen, ein sehr interessantes Gespräch mit ihr 

zu Papier zu bringen.

mich nicht immer unbedingt wohl 

vor einem so großen Publikum, 

aber ich finde, auf dem Kontinent 

sind die Leute viel offener für unterschiedliche 

Musikstile als in anderen 

Ländern. Das heißt, sie sind normalerweise 

viel eher bereit meine 

Musik aufzunehmen und geben mir 

dadurch ein viel besseres Gefühl. 

Ich freue mich auf die Deutschland- 

Tour, bei der Rainer von Vielen und 

Manuel Richter aka Xabec bei einigen 

Gigs als Support dabei sein werden. 

Beide sprühen vor Ideen, es 

wird klasse mit ihnen aufzutreten. 

Du galtest immer als jemand 

mit intellektueller und punkiger 

Attitüde aus den hedonistischen 

frühen Achtzigern. Du hast in 

deinem Leben großartige Dinge 

geschafft. Wie siehst Du Deine 

musikalische Entwicklung bis 

heute? 

Ich gehe an Musik sehr organisch 

ran, es gibt Perioden des Wachstums 

und Wandels. Perioden der Stille 

und Erneuerung. Sie entwickelt sich 

mit jedem Tag. Weil ich mit vielen 

unterschiedlichen Künstlern zusammenarbeite, 

lerne ich auch kontinuierlich 

Neues und es tun sich neue 

Richtungen auf. Ich würde gerne als 

Nächstes eine leichtere Richtung einschlagen, 

aber wir werden sehen, 

was passiert.

Anne Clark is a legend in electronic music. Her 

spoken song and hits influenced many of us, even 

amonst those that were a little young for the discos 

in the eighties. To launch her tour of Germany 

she‘s making brand new material available for you 

With the development of Techno 

in the late 80’s electronic music 

production grew, became more 

popular, more simple, better, 

cheaper – and much more 

democratic. Today you only need 

a computer, the right software, 

a lot of time and a brain. It’s a 

revolution in producing music! As 

well as your work in literature, 

theatre and the combined disciplines 

of arts you are mostly known 

as a legend of electronic music, 

but for the last few years you 

have done acoustic projects and 

releases based on classical band 

structures. Why? 

I got bored with what was going on 

at the time. For me it‘s about creating 

something new, something that 

isn‘t just soulless and uninspiring. 

Modern music often seems to be 

lacking in originality. As you said, 

nowadays all you need is a computer, 

a bit of software, some time and 

a brain. Fortunately some time away 

from the whole scene has given me 

the opportunity to come back and 

really take the time to find some 

interesting people and projects. 

Now the Psy Trance scene is discovering 

the musical intensity of 

your early tracks to present them 

in a fresh new way to a new, 

younger audience. What do you 

know about this scene? What do 

you think about it? What do you 

think about the musical results 

you have already listened to? 

It‘s hard to keep up with all the categories 

of electronic and so I don‘t 

pay too much attention to names. If 

I hear a certain sound or style that 

inspires me I try and work with it. 

At the moment I try and collaborate 

with different kinds of artists 

who can give my sound a new perspective. 

A number of Psytrance acts 

remixed your tracks and we‘re 

now running an Anne Clark remix 

contest in the mag. Is Psychedelic 

Trance something you were 

looking to get into or did it just 

come your way? 

In honesty my understanding of the 

different Trance scenes is very vague, 

however it is certainly inspiring to 

have people from scenes I‘m not so 

familiar remix my work and produce 

new versions. 

In 2005 you performed at Fusion 

festival, one of Germany‘s most 

diverse musical events. What did 

you make of the experience? 

to remix. And although Anne isn‘t one for fuss or 

interviews we‘ve succeeded in transcribing a very 

interesting talk we had with her to paper.

I really enjoyed playing at the 

Fusion festival. I don‘t always feel 

comfortable with large crowds, but 

I find people on the continent are 

much more open minded to different 

styles of music than in other 

countries. This means they usually 

receive my music more readily and 

make me feel that much more comfortable. 

I‘m looking forward to the 

tour in Germany and will be supported 

by Rainer Von Vielen and 

Manuel Richter aka Xabec for some 

of my performances. Both are full 

of ideas and it’ll be great performing 

with them. 

You are always recognised as a 

person with an intellectual and 

punky attitude from the early 

80’s. You have created some amazing 

things in your life. How do 

you view your musical development 

to where you are today? 

My approach to music is very organic, 

there are periods of growth 

and change. Periods of silence and 

renewal. It evolves with every passing 

day. By working with different 

artists I am continually learning 

new things and find new directions 

to take. I feel like taking a lighter 

direction next, but we’ll see what 

happens.

German tour we‘ve received brand 

new material from the legendary 

English artist for you to remix. 

Anne Clark and netMusicZone 

Records have given us individual 

tracks from the current Floating 

Stone hit »Dittany« and the vocal 

track to »Closed Circuits« as 

wav files. 

For lots of DJs and producers in our 

scene, Anne Clark is unlikely to 

have gone unnoticed so far. With 

her hits »Sleeper in Metropolis« 

from 1983 and »Our Darkness« 

from 1984 she could be described 

as one of the founders of Electronic 

Dance Music. 

It‘s not that long ago that Electric 

Universe released »Tune Up«, a 

very nice Anne Clark Psy remix, 

while acts such as Juno Reactor, 

Total Eclipse and Saafi Brothers 

have worked with her music as 

well. Now we‘re inviting you to 

show us what you can come 

up with. 

»Closed Circuit« consists of nothing 

but Anne’s charismatic spoken 

song and has never been accompanied 

with music. That‘s why the 

folk at Anne Clark are particularly 

excited to see what you can come 

up with for this one. 

»Dittany« is a track that Anne did 

together with the Floating 

Stones, a band 

that played at Fusion Festival for 

the last three years. They‘re a 

purely acoustic band made up of 

Anne’s guitarist Jeff Aug and her 

percussionist Niko Lai. 

The files can be downloaded from 

us and then rehashed to your 

heart‘s content. As far as the style 

is concerned there are no rules, it 

can be full-on psychedelic madness 

or an acoustic bongo jam, the 

choice is yours. 

The jury will be made up of Anne 

Clark, the mushroom readers – and 

Simon Cowell. No, that last one‘s a 

lie. The mushroom team will assist 

with judging your submissions and 

choosing the best remixes from 

amongst them. 

The artists will be officially registered 

with GEMA (German licensing 

authority) and will therefore have 

attributable rights as far as their 

production is concerned. All tracks 

that we receive can be listened to 

and rated at mushroom online. 

Later, we will make them available 

in download portals via Finetunes. 

The tracks will also be played on 

Psyradio.fm and in a special show 

of »Alpha‘s Crazy Sounds« on Goa 

netradio station Chromanova.de. 

There are fantastic prizes for the 

winning tracks.

Psychedelic Outback 

In Australien hat sich die Psytrance-Szene zuerst in den urbanen 

Gebieten um Sydney und Melbourne sowie in der Region um Byron Bay 

entwickelt und ist dort schon sehr lange aktiv. Jedoch warten gerade 

die eher schwer zugänglichen Gebiete des Outbacks mit traumhaften 

Locations in der Natur auf. Diese Landesteile hat eine Generation von 

Szeneaktivisten in jüngerer Zeit entdeckt und eine lebendige Goa-Kultur 

in abgelegeneren Gebieten aufgebaut, zum Beispiel im tropischen Far 

North Queensland. 

Unsere kleine Reise down under führt Dich auf den nächsten Seiten 

auch nach Byron Bay und zu sehr schönen australischen Festivals. 

In Cairns entdeckte ich den Shop 

Sacred Sounds, der neben Didgeridoos 

und sonstigen Aborigine-Dingen 

auch Psytrance-CDs anbietet. 

Aber Sacred Sounds ist mehr als 

ein Shop, ähnlich wie Tribaltools in 

Berlin ist er auch ein gemütlicher 

Treffpunkt für Trancer. Shopbesitzer 

Dean-O legt seit sieben Jahren 

Psytrance auf und veranstaltet Partys 

in der Gegend. 

Er kann also viel über die lokale 

Psy-Szene erzählen. Queensland 

ist nur ein kleiner Teil von Australien, 

insbesondere der Norden ist 

sehr abgelegen (daher Far North 

Queensland – FNQ). Dadurch 

herrscht ein sehr familäres Klima 

in der Szene. 

Vor der Jahrtausendwende waren 

Partys auf Clubs beschränkt, es 

gab in FNQ noch keine wirklichen 

Outdoorpartys. Die ersten Open 

Airs fanden an verlassenen Stränden 

oder im Busch statt - kostenlose 

Partys mit nur ein paar dutzend 

Besuchern. Solche Feiern 

gibt es in FNQ gelegentlich immer 

noch, aber sehr schnell kam die 

Nachfrage nach größeren Partys 

mit überregionalen Künstlern auf. 

Die Veranstaltungen in der Region 

bieten mittlerweile hohe Qualitätsstandards 

und außer internatio- 

nalen auch hervorragende lokale 

Künstler. 

Gleich am Wochenende nach dem 

Sacred-Sounds-Besuch stand mal 

wieder ein größerer Bush-Doof 

(wie die Australier Goapartys nennen) 

an. Als Headliner hatten die 

Veranstalter von FireArt keine 

Geringeren als Infected Mushroom 

am Start. 

Solche Outdoor Events sind meist 

ein paar Autostunden von größeren 

Städen entfernt und kommen 

in etwa einmal im Monat 

zustande, zwischendrin gibt es oft 

Dean-O 

noch kleinere Partys. Die Locations 

befinden sich meist tief im Busch 

oder Regenwald. Doch abgesehen 

von der Vegetation sind die Partys 

nicht viel anders als in Europa, was 

Deko und Musik betrifft. 

Verschlägt es einen auf der Reise 

durch Down Under auch nach 

FNQ, so sollten der Besuch eines 

lokalen Bush Doofs sowie von 

Sacred Sounds in Cairns auf jeden

Australia is a widely spread out continent, most of its land is very remote and unsettled - perfect conditions 

for the country’s Psy scene to organise good parties, undisturbed amongst awesome nature in the accessible 

outback. Whilst the scene has been active for a very long time now and grew up mostly in the metropolitan 

areas of Sydney and Melbourne as well as the region around Byron Bay, a new generation is building up a 

relatively young and vivid Goa Trance culture in more remote areas like the far North of Queensland. 

On the next pages our little trip down under will continue to Byron Bay, and we will tell you a bit about 

some of Australia‘s nicest festivals ... 

While being around Cairns, I discovered 

the shop Sacred Sounds. 

Besides Didgeridoos and other 

Aborigine-related stuff, Psytrance 

CDs are on sale here too, 

gaining more and more importance 

as the psychedelic scene of 

North Queensland has been growing 

rapidly and lately has seen 

some amazing Bush Doofs (that‘s 

what Australians call outdoor Goa 

parties). 

But Sacred Sounds is more than 

a shop - it‘s a meeting point for 

trancers and party organisers to 

get in touch with each other. Likewise, 

Dean-O is more than a shop 

owner. He‘ s been a Psytrance DJ 

for almost 7 years now and promotes 

parties around Cairns as 

well. So I chilled in the shop for a 

while, listening attentively to Dean- 

O’s reflections. 

Queensland is a small part of 

Australia, especially the North is 

almost remote. This also means 

that the area is quite close - everybody 

knows each other. Therefore 

the scene has a very warm 

vibe and good communication. 

Psytrance started to evolve here 

around the millennium. Before, it 

was mainly DJ‘s playing in clubs, 

but there was never a real outdoor 

scene. The first parties under 

the stars with only a few dozen 

trancers took place on lonely beaches 

or in the bush with generator 

power and free entry. You may 

still find this kind of party nowadays, 

but it became also popular 

within the last years to start putting 

on shows with DJ‘s from down 

South or even international artists, 

as was the case for the upcoming 

weekend after I met Dean-O. I visited 

an outdoor party organized 

by FireArt in the bush, featuring 

Infected Mushroom as headliner, 

followed up by national and local 

DJ‘s proving that the scene in FNQ 

has high quality standards and is 

very up to date with its musical 

development. 

This was one of the proper Bush 

Doofs taking place approximately 

once a month in the region around 

Cairns (and some smaller events 

in between), mostly at very remote 

locations in the bush, some hours 

drive from major towns - at secret 

spots so remote that nobody 

has to worry about a party permit, 

which is really hard to get in 

FNQ. Therefore the parties take 

place either on private land or are 

held illegally, but problems seldom 

arise. 

Despite the landscape and vegetation, 

the parties are not very 

different to ours in Europe. »The 

formula of a party will dictate the 

person‘s interpretation of music«, 

Dean-O told me. »What we often 

see up here around Cairns is a 

formula with maybe Progressive 

played until midnight, after midnight 

the beats will lift, the music 

might get darker and harder and 

towards light the sound will gain 

back a warm feeling. Especially the 

daytime session is very popular in 

North Queensland«. 

If you‘re strongly connected to 

Psytrance and travelling FNQ, you 

definitely shouldn‘t miss a Doof in 

the Bush or even rain forest. And if 

you‘re in Cairns - check out Sacred 

Sounds with its nice atmosphere 

and owner.

theatre, circus acts and random wandering 

entertainers you‘ll never be short of 

entertainment and although the musical 

lineup has yet to be finalised, those of 

previous years are proof enough that

the Byron Bay update 

Australia is a long way away from 

Europe and it takes quite a long time 

for news to swash its way over here. 

Nevertheless, over there you have 

Digital Psionics who‘ve been constantly 

releasing quality compilations 

during the past years. Digital Psionics 

is located in Byron Bay and the 

Doofs, as they call their parties there, 

usually happen in the rain forest 

about one and a half hours drive 

from the city. 

Digital Psionics is one of the leading 

Psytrance labels in the world, justifiably 

prooven with lots of quality 

releases over the last seven years, 

Luke Psywalker and Luna Orbit were 

the keepers of the psychedelic vibe 

far away in Ozland. They‘ll reach 

their twentieth release soon and follow 

their strict goal of not focusing 

on one particular style, but always 

having the dance floor in mind. 

The Byron Bay Trance scene was 

once world renowned for its parties 

and events in the early 90’s with 

most of the top acts in the scene 

at the time such as GMS, X-dream, 

Delta, Sid Shanti, Cosmosis, Green 

Nuns of the Revolution, Space Tribe 

and so many more visiting and 

playing at events in this small unique 

coastal town. 

However in the last 

few years 

the scene has had some major changes. 

Byron has transformed itself 

into a major tourist hotspot for the 

rich and shameless, and summer 

after summer the town is swamped 

with travelers from all corners 

of the globe. This is largely due to 

its lush beaches, amazing rainforests 

and the relaxed lifestyle it exudes. 

All these factors have pushed 

the price of real estate to ridiculous 

heights which in turn has forced 

Doofs out west to smaller communities. 

A usual location for a Doof is 

being in a remote lush rainforest, far 

enough into the forest so as to limit 

the possibilities of disturbing anyone, 

mainly the authorities (the parties 

are mostly well organised with basic 

needs on offer including toilet facilities, 

chai tea tents, ...). In turn the 

Byron Trance scene lost its spirit as 

it struggles with the regions transformation. 

Recently there is a new breed of 

party organisers in Byron emerging, 

mostly in their early 20’s and 

keen to see and get their favorite 

artist for a party. Most of the time 

it’s in collaboration with other promoters 

in cities such as Melbourne, 

Sydney and Brisbane. A major factor 

for this is being that the Trance 

scene in Byron is quite small and 

most partygoers don’t have a huge 

amount of money to part with. So 

events are usually low cost, but offer 

high quality sound systems and original 

artwork and installations from 

local artists. Locations and details of

An excellent event on the calendar 

is The Annual Nimbin Mardi Grass. 

A weekend long festival throughout 

the town of Nimbin (about one 

hour drive from Byron Bay) celebrating 

the continual fight to legalize 

marijuana in New South Wales. 

Mardi Grass weekend is not complete 

without the annual Albert Hofman 

Doof party, which is held near 

the town on the main night of the 

festival. With roughly 1000 people 

attending the festivities and a quality 

line up including Tetrameth (Zenon 

Records), Ziv (Doof), Digital Psionic 

label heads Luke Psywalker and 

Luna Orbit, Pondscum and Hefty 

Output, this year‘s highlight was 

definitely the recent Trust No Goblin 

party in June. 

So the Byron Trance scene is breathing 

and once again becoming another 

favourite for artists and party 

people around the world.

What kind of mind-warping 

experiences could have driven 

you to create the twisted 

Metal/ Trance fusion that we 

hear today? 

When I was a teenager, I had a 

punk band named »Breast Cancer«, 

one of the biggest underground 

bands in Israel. After 7 years, I decided 

to leave the band and start 

producing my own music. It 

was weird in the beginning, 

all of a sudden working alone 

and taking decisions by myself, 

it took a while to get used to. That 

was the big twist for me. My musical 

history and the fact that I knew 

what a kick and bass took me to the 

place place I am now.

music. When we are looking 

for new talent, first we check what

now and the release of Animal. 

What has changed and 

where do you see Skazi going 

in the future? 

I grew up. I learned more and more 

about music and production, and 

have more to learn of course. Music 

is an endless world for me. The 

madness expanded too, I dare to do 

more now then ever. Total Anarchy 

is an album that makes some people 

smile and others raise an eyebrow. 

I think that people will understand 

the real concept and what‘s 

behind this album within a year. 

Now I‘m working on the 4th ZOO

player, legendary Assaf Bibass 

who‘s also my partner in managing 

Chemical Crew. 

In the future I wish to play with System 

Of A Down and of course the 

biggest band ever: Metallica - this is 

my real big dream.

Goa Trance actually built the music 

style I‘m producing today. Though

style with a lot of genres like Rock, 

Heavy, Dark, Happy and Full-on.

Das Onlineportal Myspace.com will

zu vermarkten. Auf der Website sind 

schon ungefähr drei Millionen Musiker 

registriert. In Kooperation mit der P2P- 

Firma Snocap soll Myspace demnächst 

zum Musikshop werden, der User 

selber kann dabei seinen Preis selbst 

bestimmen und zahlt eine Provision, 

deren Höhe noch nicht feststeht, an 

Myspace und Snocap. Zur Zeit läuft ein 

Test mit ausgewählten Bands doch schon 

in Kürze sollen ungeahnte Möglichkeiten 

entstehen.

Bakke – Part of my Life ... 

Mikael Bakke 

ist nicht nur ein 

bekannter schwedischer 

Prog-DJ, ganz 

andere Fähigkeiten 

pflegt er schon viel 

länger. Bereits als 

Kind zeichnete und 

malte er gerne, später 

studierte Bakke Grafik 

- und hat uns diesen 

Monat das schöne Cover 

designed. In Linköping bei Stockholm arbeitet er heute 

bei einer Offset Druckerei. Doch wie bei vielen von 

uns ist der Job nur ein Deckmantel für Bakkes wahre 

Psydentität. In seiner Schulzeit schon hatte er diverse 

Technopartys besucht, einige Jahre später hatte er 

seinen ersten DJ-Auftritt. So kam Bakke auch in Kontakt 

mit Anti und dem Label Spiral Traxx und begann 

für sie erste CD-Cover zu entwerfen. Die letzten drei

Als freiberuflicher Illustrator und 

Grafik-Designer lebt und arbeitet 

der 28-jährige Nikos Xylakis 

in Athen, Griechenland. In seiner 

Freizeit lässt er sich am liebsten 

von Fantasy-Welten inspirieren 

und designt Dinge wie Flyer und 

Backdrops für Partys. Niko benutzt 

gerne Airbrush und Fluoro-Farben, 

um lebendige und hell leuchtende

Nikos is a 28 year old illustrator 

and graphic designer from 

Athens, Greece who works 

freelance for a living. Most of 

his free time however is spent 

making flyers, backdrops for 

parties and other fantasy inspired 

artwork. After drawing 

his ideas by hand and altering 

them digitally using a graphic 

pad and computer he trans-

Mikael Bakke has spent his life honing his artistic 

skills. As a child he was always drawing and painting 

and his passion led him to study art in school and 

graphical technology at university. Being aware of his 

talents we asked him to design this month‘s cover artwork, 

a wise choice we feel – as you can see from 

our front page :-) Originally from Gothenburg, Bakke 

currently works as a graphical engineer in Linköping 

not far from Stockholm. However, as for many of us, 

Mikael‘s day job is only a cover for his true psydentity. 

Since impressing Anti with a CD cover he had designed 

at school, Bakke helped out with artworks at Spiral 

Trax and was their in-house designer for the last 

three years until the label sadly had to close down a 

few weeks ago. He‘s also a renowned Swedish Progressive 

DJ and represented the Spiral Trax label at

reicht bis Berlin, so gelangte 

das detailreiche Polit-Plakat auch auf 

die Fusion. »Plan Colombia« ist der 

Projektname für den War on Drugs 

der USA in Kolumbien. Das Collective 

will darüber aufklären, dass die 

USA und die Konzerne dort in der 

Tradition von 500 Jahren Kolonialgeschichte 

handeln. »Die einzelnen 

Geschichten, die roten Fäden der 

Erzählung bilden zusammen einen 

Kreislauf und sollen durch ihre Verwobenheit 

die Entstehung einer Diskussion 

über den Inhalt des Plakats 

unterstützen. So kann das Plakat ein 

äußerst machtvolles Werkzeug sein 

in dem Bemühen, eine überwältigend 

komplexe Situation runterzubrechen 

auf kleine Stücke.«

Die Grüne Kraft hat Geburtstag, 

35 Jahre gibt es sie. Bei dem Jubilar 

handelt es sich – oberflächlich 

betrachtet – um einen Verlag. Bei 

näherem Hinsehen entdeckt man 

allerdings kein Verlagshaus mit blitzender 

Fassade, sondern ein weinumranktes 

Häuschen im Odenwald 

mit Feuerstelle im Garten. 

Auch Verleger und Autor Werner 

Pieper passt so recht in keine Vorstellung, 

die man sich von diesem 

Berufszweig machen mag. Vielmehr 

gibt er ein schlüssiges Bild 

davon, wie es aussehen kann, 

wenn die Hippie-Phase nicht mit 

Vollendung des 30. Lebensjahrs 

abgehakt, sondern konsequent 

weitergedacht und -gelebt wird. 

Doch zurück zum Geburtstagskind, 

der Grünen Kraft. Die hat mit den 

»Grünen« nur indirekt zu tun, sehr 

wohl aber mit der »Grünen Hilfe«, 

die sie 1971 als Rechtshilfe für Drogendealer 

organisierte. Vor allem 

aber bereichert sie die Medienlandschaft 

seit 35 Jahren um zahlreiche 

»Grüne Zweige« . So heißen 

ihre verschiedenen MedienXperimente, 

die meisten davon erscheinen 

in Buchform. Der erste Grüne 

Zweig spross 1971, in den folgenden 

Jahren kamen 250 weitere 

hinzu, und die Ideen für die nächsten 

Triebe des Blätterwalds keimen 

bereits.

Nach dem sehr lustigen und ausdauernden Beginn der 

Indoorsaison im Butan zu Wuppertal soll das Ganze 

diesen Monat mit dem Klangsehen noch getoppt werden. 

Die Crew um Kossi und Chef Tobi hat weder 

Kosten noch Mühen gescheut und präsentiert uns die 

Live Acts Neelix und Sangeet. An den Playern stehen 

Scotty, Beauty & the Beat, Mikadho sowie viele der 

geliebten Residents zur Spaßunterstützung. In diesem 

Winter scheint sich der Butan endlich seinen Stammplatz 

in der Monatsplanung zu sichern, denn auch die 

schon angekündigten Bookings bis Dezember lassen

vor Allerheiligen im Pott, wenn U-Recken und Hypersonic 

zu Gast sind. Der Mexikaner Lamat und die Dänen 

von Genetic Spin bereichern das Live-Line-Up, natürlich 

spielen auch noch viele erstklassige DJs. Die visuelle 

Ausgestaltung der Party hat Amrisha übernommen, sie 

wird mit ihren Backdrops für das richtige Ambiente sorgen. 

Die Location ist ein altes Ausbesserungswerk der 

Bahn, in dem sogar noch Züge stehen und wo kuschelige 

Sofalandschaften zum Chillen einladen. 

A special aural treat for lovers of the Israeli sound 

will be held on All Hallows Eve in Pott. U-Recken and 

Hypersonic are both performing live as are the Mexican 

Lamat and the Danes from Genetic Spin. Of course 

there´s a top DJ line up too. The decorations have been

auf eine neue grosse Party von Aphonix Records im Xtra 

an der Limmatstrasse in Zürich freuen. Es werden 

1000 bis 2000 Leute erwartet. Der psychedelische Flyer 

verspricht Freunden des Psy-Trance eine tolle Gelegenheit 

zum Abtanzen, neben Tsuyoshi und Müestik stehen

Legal Cannabis clubs in Spain 

Die in Spanien gegründeten gemeinnützigen 

Cannabisclubs haben ihre 

Rechtmäßigkeit von Gerichten in Katalonien 

und dem Baskenland bestätigt 

bekommen. Mitglieder der Clubs bauen 

gemeinsam Cannabis an, um ihn zum 

Selbstkostenpreis und nur an andere 

Mitglieder abzugeben. In Spanien ist 

der Handel mit Cannabis zwar verboten, 

der Besitz zum Eigenbedarf jedoch 

erlaubt. Viele der Mitglieder verwenden 

Cannabis offenbar zu medizinischen 

Zwecken. Die ENCOD, eine europäische 

Organisation für die Änderung der 

Drogengesetzgebung, sieht in den 

Cannabisclubs ein Modell auch für 

andere Länder. Jüngst wurde auch 

in Belgien ein erster Club ins Leben 

gerufen. Auch dort ist der Besitz zum 

Eigenbedarf legal. 

Spanish based cannabis clubs have had 

their legitamy confirmed in the Catalonian 

and the Basque regions. Members 

of the club grow cannabis together 

and distribute it only amongst other 

members at cost price. Although the 

trade of cannabis is forbidden in Spain, 

possession for personal use is allowed. 

Many of the members use cannabis 

for medicinal purposes. ENCOD, a 

European organisation for changing 

drug laws sees the cannabis clubs as 

a model for other countries as well. 

Meanwhile some people from Belgium 

founded the first cannabis club in their 

country, where possession for personal 

use is allowed as well.

Der Verein Bündnis Hanfparade in 

Berlin steht vor dem Bankrott. 12.000 

Euro Schulden aus früheren Jahren 

lasten auf den Organisatoren der 

größten deutschen Pro-Hanf-Demo 

in Berlin. Es ist unsicher, ob es 2007 

möglich sein wird, eine Hanfparade 

zu finanzieren. 

Angesichts des großen Medienechos 

und einer zum Vorjahr mehr als verdoppelten 

Teilnehmerzahl, erklärt 

das Hanfparaden-Team, sei die 

zehnte Parade im August ein Erfolg 

gewesen, allerdings konnte kein 

Gewinn erwirtschaftet werden. Laut 

Medienberichten sind diesmal bis zu 

1500 Leute auf die Straße gegangen, 

Ende der Neunziger waren es mal an 

die 50.000 ... 

Das Bündnis Hanfparade beklagt, 

es seien immer weniger Sponsoren 

an dem Hanf-Event interessiert, und 

auch die Anzahl der Vereinsmitglieder 

sinke. »Nur aus Kleinspenden 

kann man die größte und mittlerweile 

leider auch einzige Demonstration 

für die Legalisierung von Hanf 

in Deutschland nicht finanzieren!« 

In Hamburg und Köln zum Beispiel 

waren die gewohnten Hanfdemos 

dieses Jahr gar nicht erst zustande 

gekommen.

Debts plague cannabis march 

The organisers of Germany‘s largest 

pro-hemp demonstration, the Berlin 

»Hanfparade« are facing bankruptcy 

and are now trying to raise donations 

within the hemp scene. With 

debts of 12,000 euros it is uncertain 

whether it will be possible to fund a 

2007 event. 

The Hanfparade team declared that 

they were unable to make any financial 

profit this year, and thus couldn‘t 

settle those debts from other years. 

According to media reports, there 

were up to 1500 people on the 

street, at the end of the 90s it once 

reached about 50,000 ... Still the 

number of participants had doubled 

in comparison to last year. 

The Hanfparade organisers complained 

that there are fewer sponsors 

interested in supporting the event 

and that membership is falling. 

In Hamburg and Cologne the customary 

demonstrations didn‘t even

with 8 tracks that deliver that squelchy 

goodness that tickles your brain in all 

the right places and helps release the 

Puck in us all on to the dance floor. With 

sounds recorded from their daily lives 

and a heavy dose of mischievous humour 

behind it, it‘s just the kind of music that I 

want to hear plenty more of in the future.

Solarsiv Records aus Italien haben 

diese beeindruckende Sammlung von 

Künstlern und Labels im Zusammenarbeit 

mit dem lokalen Kulturzentrum Ca.Cu. 

Bo. hergestellt. Die Tracks bewegen 

sich von Intelabeams funky-fröhlichem 

»Moving On Up« bis zu eher fließenden, 

atmosphärischen Tracks wie Sensifeels 

»Mysterious Land«, eine schöne Auswahl 

progressiver Sounds. Ich würde auch 

empfehlen, die CaCuBo.net-Webseite 

anzuschauen, die bald wieder gehen 

soll. Das Kulturzentrum, ein ehemaliger 

Schlachthof in Bologna, scheint mit 

20.000 Quadratmetern Fläche und sieben 

Tanzflächen nämlich eine sehr inspirierende 

Umgebung zu sein.

together with the Ca.Cu.Bo »cultural 

forum« to produce an impressive collaboration 

of artists and labels. The tracks 

range from Intelabeam’s fun and funky 

»Moving On Up« to the more atmospheric 

flow of Sensifeel’s »Mysterious Land« 

and provide a nice variety of progressive 

sounds. I would also recommend that 

you check out the CaCuBo.net website 

that‘ll be online again soon. Based in 

an ex-slaughter house in Bologna with 

20,000 square metres and 7 dance floors, 

it certainly sounds like an inspiring environment

»The Lurker« - V.A. (Cosmic Conspiracy) CD 

Vielen Dank Cosmic Conspiracy! »The 

Lurker« ist die erste von zwei CDs, die 

ich diesen Monat von dem Label aus 

Neuseeland bekommen hab, und ich 

hoffe nur, dass so etwas bei mir öfter 

auftaucht. Bisher unbekannte Namen 

wie Bufo und Hedonix bekommen den 

Tim-Sensient-Touch, und dadurch wird 

diese Compilation eine wunderschönes 

Acid-Vergnügen, genau, was ich 

grad hören will. Die Beats sind hart 

und dreckig, aber nie zu schnell, knackige, 

digitale Samples gesellen sich dazu 

und auch ein paar schauerliche Melodien. 

Ich würde zum Reinhören »Twist the 

Truth« von Cujorious One empfehlen 

mit seinem Knight Rider-mäßigen Hintergrund-Loop 

und der Kobold-Marsch- 

Melodie. Also, wenn Du nur ein paar 

Geräusche suchst, um Dein Gehirn zu 

killern, ohne dass Dir jemand gleich die 

ganze Geschichte erzählt – dafür ist diese 

Compilation das Beste seit Langem. 

Changra lassen ihre Schattenseiten ahnen 

- das klingt nach: mehr! 

The new label EvilKnivel from Berlin 

is starting with a really, really evil first 

release. Friends of the night can wallow in 

the aphotic corners of the soul and psyche 

out with known acts such as Xenomorph, 

Naked Tourist or Transdriver, as well as 

new converts to the dark side such as 

Bellybutton or Technical Hitch. Between 

145 and 150 bpm they ensure a serious, 

carefully crafted flight on the night‘s black 

wings. Labelowners DJ Dantrex, DJ Ant 

and Dr. Changra give us a glimpse of their 

shadier side and leave us begging for

Thank you Cosmic Conspiracy! »The 

Lurker« is the first of two of this New 

Zealand label’s releases I received this 

month and I only hope 

they come along more 

often. With newer 

names like Bufo and 

Hedonix receiving the 

Tim Sensient touch this 

compilation is a lovely 

acid squelcher that is 

just what I needed to 

hear. The beats are hard and dirty, but 

not too fast and there are plenty of crisp, 

digital samples as well as several haunting 

melodies. I particularly recommend 

Cujorious One’s »Twist the Truth« with its 

Knight Rider-like backing loop and goblin 

marching melody. So if sometimes all you 

want is a few sounds to tease your brain 

without having the whole story told word 

for word then this is the best thing I’ve 

heard in a long time. (krz) 

Salakavala 

»Fractal Fishing« 

(Faerie Dragon) CD 

Jippieeee, da ist ein Label weit im Osten, 

das traut sich den finnischen Sound 

herauszubringen, und mit Salakavala 

sind es wieder ein paar alte Hasen aus 

Helsinki, die jedem, der den Sound mag, 

schon länger ein Begriff sein sollten, haben 

sie doch bisher ihren Sound immer frei 

im Internet zum Download angeboten. 

»Fractal Fishing« mag ein passender Titel 

für den durchweg grinsenden Trip sein, 

den die drei mir da bescheren. Wie immer 

ultramusikalisch, ständig Spaß versprühen-

der Stuff mit einer Prise oldschool. Meine 

unbedingte Empfehlung für jeden, der mal 

am Sonntagnachmittag zu was anderem 

daherhüpfen möchte.

Salakavala is one 

of the projects 

that offered 

their music as 

downloads for 

free for ages and 

finally there is a 

label in the Far East that dares to bring us 

their unique style of pure ecstasy. As usual 

it’s ultra-musical, constant fun, jumping 

sounds with never a dull moment amongst 

them. »Fractal Fishing« is an appropriate 

title for this delightful trip and I strongly 

recommend it to anybody is looking for 

something different to frisk along to on a 

Sunday afternoon. (Ilse) 

»Hungry for Hungary« 

V.A. (Psybaba) CD 

Ein rein ungarisches Werk, das Debüt für 

Psybaba Records - wobei ich von den Artists 

auch nur die alten Hasen ParaHalu kenne. 

Eine Auswahl rollender 16tel-Basslines, mal 

schön verspielt und funky, so wie ich es 

mag, aber auch der Marke hart und sinnlos 

kann ich hier finden. Und dadurch verliert 

die Disc meiner Meinung nach leider ihren 

roten Faden. Dennoch ein gelungener 

Versuch die ungarische Künstlerszene zu 

präsentieren.

records. I have to 

admit that I only 

knew of the Para 

Halu guys and had never heard of the other 

artists listed before. They provide us mainly 

with rolling basslines, sometimes garnished 

with a healthy dose of acid, sometimes just 

hard and senseless. This compilation unfortunately 

loses its thread when listened to in 

one go, but succeeds in presenting us with 

a nice selection of the artists in Hungary‘s 

rapidly developing scene. (Ilse) 

Guinea Pigs 

»Not tested on animals«

Dieses Projekt von Avi und Shalom Sagges 

ist mir schon länger bekannt, und ich freue 

mich riesig, dass die beiden ihr Debüt in 

dieser Art und Weise abliefern. Das Album 

rockt, bedienen sich die beiden doch an so 

vielen Stil-Elementen und versuchen eine 

Brücke zu schlagen zwischen dem düster 

verzwirbelten Nachtsound, dem Twilight 

oder der Morninghysterie. Habe ich da 

sogar House-Elemente vernommen? Auf 

jeden Fall wird’s mir nicht langweilig, denn 

dieses Album macht Spaß. Unbedingt 

reinhören! 

Those two nutters from Israel, Avi and 

Shalom Sagges, have succeeded in 

bringing us a diversified trip with the 

brave goal to bridge the gap between the 

dark nighttime sound, the twilight and the 

morning hysteria. Did I even notice housey 

elements? This album rocks, never bores 

me and spreads a healthy dose of humour 

that I am now infected with. Guaranteed 

fun and my strongest recommendation to 

almost everybody with an open minded 

taste in music. (Ilse)

Unter dem Namen Insomnia veröffentlichen 

Tom Shoval und Orel Shapira , bisher 

produzierten sie unter dem Namen Tox, 

doch der neue passt besser. Denn diese 

CD bereitete mir doch einige schlaflose 

Nächte. Insgesamt haben wir hier neun 

unveröffentlichte Tracks, doch bei 80 Prozent 

des Sounds habe ich das Gefühl, das 

kenne ich irgendwoher. Viele Melodien, 

Effekte und Samples waren jedem hinzugezogenen 

Testhörer geläufig, doch keiner 

wusste Original-Tracks dazu - oder ob die 

Jungs einfach nur ihren Helden huldigen. 

Egal, denn funktionieren tut es auf jeden 

Fall prima. Schlanker, moderner Full On 

israelischer Bauart, 

von treibendem, 

uplifting Trance 

über rollende Psy 

Anfahrten bis hin zu 

vertwisteten Tracks 

für die Nacht, und 

erst mit dem letzten Track gibt es wieder 

Zeit zum Durchatmen. Alles ist natürlich 

bestens und dick produziert. Aber irgendwie 

bin ich verwirrt. 

Tom Shoval and Orel Shapira, who 

previously produced as Tox have released 

this album under the name Insomnia, one 

which I feel suits them much better. This 

CD certainly prepares me for a few sleepless 

nights. Here 

we have a total 

of nine previously 

unreleased tracks 

although with 

about 80 percent of 

the sounds I get the 

feeling I‘ve heard it 

somewhere before. 

Loads of melodies, FX and samples sounded 

familiar to other critics, but none of 

us knew where from or whether the boys 

are simply paying homage to their heroes. 

Never mind, it certainly works well whatever 

the case. Stream-lined, modern Full-on 

of the Israeli kind ranging from banging, 

uplifting Trance and rolling Psy numbers to 

twisted tracks for the night. You‘re barely 

given a moment to catch your breathe 

until the last track. Naturally everything 

is produced to the highest standards, but 

something still has me baffled. (Tulla) 

»Enigmatic World 

Israel« 

V.A. (Enigmatic Sound) CD 

Los geht die wilde Reise mit einer acidlastigen 

Vertwistung von Mobys »Lift me up«, 

aber schon der nächste Tracks namens „Full 

power“ macht seinem Namen alle Ehre, 

aufgeräumt treibt er mitreißend ravig auf 

den Höhepunkt zu und rollt nach dem zweiten 

Break nochmals furios aus den Boxen. 

Danach gibt es erstmal ordentliche Acid- 

Abfahrten mit Melicia und Indra, mit Optical 

Noise gesellen sich angenehmerweise ein 

paar Flächen hinzu, Trauma im Remix hat 

nette Vocoder Stimmen mit eingebaut. Auch 

Miditec bleibt acidlastig und wird erst zum 

Ende uplifting, und von Genetic Syndrom 

gibt es zum Ende noch ein treibendes 

Tool für die Peak Time. Für Freunde Acidgetränkten 

FullOns. 

This wild journey kicks off with an acid-rich 

twist of Moby‘s »Lift me up« and the next 

track called »Full Power« definitely lives up

to its name. It pushes on to the climax in 

a stirring, ravy manner and then after the 

second break it 

rolls powerfully out 

of the speakers. 

Then we have 

some tidier Acid 

numbers from 

Melicia and Indra 

and Optical Noise 

has mixed a few 

pleasanter segments in as well. Trauma‘s 

remix has nice vocoder voices built in as. 

Even Miditec remains acid-rich, becoming 

more uplifting at the end and Genetic 

Syndrom provide us with a powerful tool 

for the peak time. For friends of acid-thirsty

Sesto Sento 

»Come Together« (Com.Pact) CD 

Matan, Idtai und Aviram sind Sesto Sento, 

und wenn das drittes Album releast wird, 

kann man trotz des noch niedrigen Alters 

(21 bis 23) der Jungs wohl einiges erwarten. 

Beim Cover beschleicht mich schon ein 

leicht ungutes Gefühl, haben da etwa Micky 

Maus und Käpt’n Hook ihre Finger im Spiel? 

Im Innenteil wird dies noch verstärkt, wird 

da schon mit Popstar-Allüren gespielt? Ihr 

Sound ist natürlich glasklar produziert, treibt 

ordentlich nach vorne, doch irgendwas 

fehlt, zum Beispiel ein fetter Bass. Viele 

Ideen, aber oft nicht zu Ende gedacht, tolle 

Melodien, meistens zu kurz; nach vielen 

Breaks uninspiriertes Gedudel, meistens zu 

lang. Teilweise super Ansätze verlieren sich 

viel zu oft in langweiliger Poser-Programmierung. 

Lediglich 

drei Tracks können 

überzeugen, 

„Trance in motion“ 

eine ravige Hook 

auf strammem 

Bass strebt zum 

Höhepunkt und 

kann danach mit 

funky Basswechseln überzeugen, Track 9 

ist recht ähnlich, bekommt aber erst den 

richtigen Groove mit reduzierter bpm-Zahl, 

sowie mit Track 10 noch etwas für den 

Morgen. Den Witz im Hidden-Track kann ich 

nicht nachvollziehen. 

Matan, Idtai and Aviram are Sesto Sento 

and I feel that despite their ages (21 to 23), 

the fact that this is their third album means 

we can expect something from them. The 

cover art already gives you a slightly uneasy 

feeling and leads me to ask whether Mickey 

Mouse and Captain Hook had anything 

to do with it? The content enforces this 

theory further, are they already toying with 

the idea of popstardom? Of course their 

production is crystal clear and provides 

enough thrust, but something‘s missing, 

for example a phat bass. Lots of ideas, but 

often not followed through, great melodies, 

mostly too short and after countless breaks 

you‘re left with an uninspiring racket that‘s 

normally too long. What could have been 

super foundations are lost all too often 

through poser-programming. Only three 

tracks manage to win me over: »Trance in 

motions« has a ravy hook on top of a bouncy 

bass and is certainly my highlight with its 

funky bass changes. Track 9 is very similar 

and the groove only feels right if you slow it 

down a bit and like track 10, it’s something 

for mornings. The joke in the hidden track is 

one that I just can‘t comprehend. (Tulla) 

»GOA« 

V.A. (Y.S.E.) 2CD 

Miraculix‘ Goa Compilation geht in die 17. 

Runde, und wieder sind beide Scheibchen 

mit Sinn und Verstand zusammengestellt. 

CD1 führt durch die Nacht, eröffnet von 

Optokoppler mit »Hamburg City«. Wer 

jetzt allerdings Progressive erwartet, 

liegt falsch, trotzdem aber noch nicht zu 

fordernd. Weiter schrauben sich die Tracks 

druckvoll durch die Nacht, nehmen Fahrt 

auf, schicken uns auf eine trippige, twisted 

Full-On-Reise bis hin zu 148 schneidenden 

bpm. Zum Ende erscheint dann aber doch 

der Silberstreif am Horizont und bringt 

etwas Mystik in die Tracks zurück. CD2 

beginnt mit Morning Progressiv Trance 

von Ovnimoon und Frogacult noch recht 

entspannt. Damit aber keiner einschläft, 

wird es wieder zunehmend druckvoll und 

rollend und endet in sonnigem PsyTrance, 

der besser in den Tag als in die Nacht passt.

Miraculix‘ Goa Compilation is doing its 

17th round and once again both discs are 

selected with sense and understanding. 

CD1 leads us through the night opening 

with Optokoppler‘s »Hamburg City« and 

whoever‘s expecting Progressive will be dis- 

appointed, although it‘s still not too demanding. 

The tracks drill on powerfully through 

the night and send us on a trippy, twisted 

Full-on journey at up to 148 scathing beats 

per minute . We finish off just as the first 

silver rays of dawn climb over the horizon 

and the tracks turn a little more mystical. 

CD2 begins with 

relaxed Morning 

Progressive Trance 

from Ovnimoon 

and Frogacult, but 

so that no one falls 

asleep it gradually 

becomes harder 

and more rolling. It 

ends in sunny Psy Trance that‘s better suited 

for the day than the night and is a sure 

choice for fans of the series. (Tulla) 

Magoon 

»Don‘t Panick!« (YSE) CD 

Magoon ist mal wieder so eine nette 

Entdeckung von Millennium, ein Hamburger 

Newcomer aus dem Freundeskreis von Alex 

Dorkian, der ein dickes Debüt mit geradezu 

israelisch quirligem, dennoch übersichtlich 

funkigem FullOn ablässt. Die Tracks werden 

im Laufe des Albums immer besser, und 

nach einem vollen Kaleidoskop der Variationen 

bekommen bekennende Weicheier wie 

Herr Mathesdorf (kai) zum Ende sogar noch 

ein »Taschentuch« gereicht. Dieser unglaubliche 

Track ist eine Zusammenarbeit mit Tulk 

und nichts als der reine Schmelz - ähnlich 

schön wie die »Psylove« auf Midijums 

»Muladhara« Compilation. Insgesamt ein 

erstaunlich sattes Album; der Junge hat die 

richtigen Hosen an und wird der nächste 

Lichtblick des Nordens werden. 

Magoon is another reassuring discovery 

from Millennium. A Hamburg newcomer 

from Alex Dorkain‘s circle of friends, he 

kicks off with a phat debut of lively Israelilike, 

yet clear and funky Full-on. The tracks 

get better as the album progresses and after 

a full kaleidoscope of variations, the last 

track leaves self-professed softies like Herr 

Mathesdorf (kai) reaching for their tissues 

(»Taschentuch«). This unbelievable contribution 

to the world of Psy is a collaboration 

with Tulk and is pure gold - similarly delightful 

to »Psylove« on Midijums »Muladhara« 

compilation. An extremely satisfying album; 

the guy‘s got what it takes! (kai)

Wie gewohnt serviert Bim die Midijum- 

Melange aus energetischem Progressive 

Trance und aufgeräumt knackigem FullOn 

zwischen 138 und 145 Sachen. Das Niveau 

ist amtlich, herausragend sind die Tracks 

von Suncontrolspecies und von Simon 

Weber aka Silent Sphere, dem man hier 

die reichliche Zusammenarbeit mit Astrix 

anhört, aber auch mehr Eigenständigkeit 

seiner musikalischen Konzepte. Ebenso 

schön die Modulationen in Exanimos 

»Slipstream«, das kommende Album will 

amtlich werden ... Bims gutes Händchen 

für Newcomer ist bekannt, und so findet 

sich hier Prahlads erstes Release. Prahlad 

ist der elegante Holländer, der sommers 

zahlreiche OpenAir Bühnen auf allerlei 

Smooth 

»Flow« (Liquid Crystal Music) CD 

Was für ein smoother Flow bei diesem 

entspannten Album, da ist der Name mal 

Programm. Hinter dem Projekt stecken 

Marco Höller und Maike Fricke, besser 

bekannt als New Age Hippies. Hier schieben 

sie nun aber mal Psy und Prog ganz 

beiseite und lassen eine herrliche Fusion 

aus House und warmen, satten Bässen 

erklingen. Hinzu kommen noch sanft 

fließende Flächen, manchmal eine leicht 

funkige Note, das alles teilweise weit unter 

135, und natürlich gibt es auch warme 

Frauenstimmen, die ins Mikrofon hauchen. 

Sound für jede Sonntags-Afterhour. 

Herrlich, wenn die Acts auch mal Neues 

ausprobieren. Weiter so und unbedingt 

anhören! 

What a smooth flow you get from this 

relaxed album, a clear example of where 

the name fits the content. Behind this project 

you‘ll find Marco Höller and Maike Fricke, 

better know as the New Age Hippies. 

However here they‘ve put Psy and Prog to 

one side and come up with a marvelous 

fusion of House and warm, lush basses 

accompanied by soft flowing spaces. Most 

of this takes place at well below 135 bpm 

and of course there are warm female 

voices whispering into the microphone. 

Festivals betreut und bisweilen als DJ und 

Radio-Mann im norddeutschen Raum 

von sich reden machte. Er ist einer von 

den Guten, das setzt er musikalisch um: 

schöne Ideen, und wenn sein schwebender 

Groove noch etwas mehr Druck bekommt, 

werden sich ihm alle Türen öffnen. Dazu 

Casui, Crystal Sound, Neelix mit seinem 

derzeitigen, mir zu platten 80er-Disco- 

Zeugs, Visua jedoch richtig schön deep und 

schließlich ein kuscheliger Slomo-Abschied 

von M-Sphere. 

As usual, Bim serves us a Midijum 

mishmash of energetic Progressive Trance 

and crisp, tidy Full-on between 138 and 

145 bpm. The standard is impressive, the 

tracks from Suncontrolspecies and Simon 

Weber aka Silent Sphere are excellent 

and you can hear that Simon‘s worked 

extensively with Astrix while at the same 

Alternative Floor 

Sounds for every Sunday afterhour. I love 

it when acts try something new, keep it up.

»Reflections« 

V.A. (Blue Tunes) CD 

Das dritte Release von Blue Tunes, und 

diese Compilation von DJ B52 aus der 

Schweiz hat es in sich. Acht unveröffentlichte 

Tracks, ausschließlich feinster Progressive 

Trance, erfreuen die Freunde des 

gepflegten Grooves. Intelligent verspielt 

eröffnet mit leichtem Funk und dezentem 

Knarz Behind Blue Eyes im Remix, und Ski 

Fi bringen dann richtig Schwung ins Haus, 

leicht säuselnde Frauenstimme auf sattem 

Bass und funky umherfliegende Harmonien. 

»We find a way«, Symphonix vs Xibalba 

im Earsugar Rmx, ist ein weiteres Highlight, 

und die Schweizer von Dualsnug machen 

richtig Druck mit erfreulich dickem 

Bassgroove. Natürlich darf ein Track der 

Labelchefs nicht fehlen, ein ordentlich 

funktionaler Remix von »Down on the 

streets«, der erst nach längerer Einleitung 

zum Thema findet. Zum Abschluss ein 

tranciger Track von Nasser. 

This is the third release from Blue Tunes 

and this compilation from DJ B52 from 

Switzerland has really got what it takes. 

Eight previously unreleased tracks of the 

finest Progressive Trance will delight fans 

time developing his own musical ideas. 

The same goes for the modulations in 

Exanimos »Slipstream« whose upcoming 

album should be awesome. Bim‘s ability 

for recognising new talent is famous and 

here we have a first release for Prahlad. 

Prahlad is the elegant Dutchman who 

performed on numerous open air stages at 

this summer‘s festivals. He has since made 

a name for himself as both a party and 

radio DJ in northern Germany. He‘s one 

of the good guys, something you can hear 

in his music. He‘s got nice ideas and when 

his floaty grooves gain a little more oomph 

he‘ll find all doors open to him. We also 

have Casui, Crystal Sound, Neelix with 

his current far-too-flat-for-me 80‘s disco 

stuff, a really nice deep track from Visua 

and finally a cosy slo-mo farewell from 

M-Sphere. (kai) 

of neatly refined grooves. Intelligent and 

playful, it starts with the light Funk and 

decent squelchy, creaky sounds of »Behind 

Blue Eyes«. Ski Fi then bring the right vibe 

with purring female vocals and a luscious 

bass and funky harmonies. »We find a 

way«, the Symphonix vs Xibalba Earsugar 

remix is another highlight and the Swiss 

from Dualsnug create a good thrust with 

their delightfully phat bass groove. Of 

course, we can‘t forget a track from the 

label head, a well organised, functional 

remix of »Down on the streets«, that takes 

quite a while to finally get down to it. 

And to finish with a trancier track from 

Nasser. (Tulla)

Endlich erschient 

des Debütalbum 

von Fitalic, der 

schon mit einigen Tracks auf Labels wie 

Bedrock, Vapour, Iboga zu überzeugen 

wusste. Sein Sound ist eine Fusion vom 

Besten aus Progressive House (Track 

9), Trance (Tracks 2 und 8) und Techno 

(Tracks 4 und 6), die sich im Club besonders 

wohl fühlt. Reduzierte Geschwindigkeiten, 

mit denen man als DJ bestens

arbeiten kann, warme tribal Grooves, 

mal stampfend, mal schiebend. Monoton 

hypnotische Hooks, die zu atmosphärisch 

dichten TechHouse-Themen morphen. 

Sogar mit funky Breaks (Track 5) kann 

Herr Fitter bestens umgehen und bleibt 

auch dabei immer undergroundig deep. 

Kein Track fällt hier unangenehm aus dem 

Kontext, dies ist mal ein Album mit Sinn, 

Verstand und Herz und wird dem netten 

Holländer weitere Türen öffnen. Absoluter 

Pflichtkauf für DJs. 

After winning us over with tracks on labels 

like Bedrock, Vapour and Iboga, Fitalic has 

finally released his debut album. His sound 

is a fusion of the best from Progressive 

House (track 9), Trance (2 and 8) and 

Techno (4 and 6) that is particularly suited 

for a club environment. Slower speeds 

that make it particularly easy to DJ with, 

warm tribal grooves, sometimes pounding, 

sometimes more pushy. Monotonous 

hypnotic hooks that morph into atmospheric 

TechHouse variations. Mr Fitter 

even knows his way around funky Breaks 

(track 5) and manages to keep the sound 

deep and underground. None of the tracks 

seem out of place, this is an album with 

meaning, understanding and love and will 

open doors for the nice Dutch fella behind 

it. An absolute must-buy for DJs. (Tulla) 

Analog Pussy 

»J1/J2« (AP Rec.) 12“ 

Jiga und Jinno von Analog Pussy sind 

dafür bekannt, verschiedene Styles zu 

fusionieren und wissen ihre Fans und DJs 

immer wieder mit Anleihen aus anderen 

Genres zu erfreuen. Diesmal begeistern sie 

auch mich, den »J1/J2« ist zweimal Acid 

House mit schwerem Technoeinschlag und 

klassischen Trance-Elementen, das Ganze 

auf einem Monster von Progressive-House- 

Groove. Es klingt wie früher und hat dabei 

den Punch von heute. »J2« unterstreicht 

mehr die Acidnote und ist dreckiger als 

»J1«, bei dem sich mehr und mehr die 

trancige Note in den Vordergrund schiebt. 

Jiga and Jinno from Analog Pussy are well 

known for fusing together different styles 

and continue to delight fans and DJs with 

the sounds they‘ve borrowed from other 

genres. This time they‘ve even impressed 

me as »J1/J2« is two doses of Acid House

distinguierten Flow charmanter Sachlichkeit 

im freundlichen Grau aus Tech, House, 

Electro, Trance - und zum Ende einer Prise 

Disco! Die Progressive-Cool-Fraktion mit 

den Porsche-Brillen wird‘s lieben, Herr 

und Frau Mädchen könnten jedoch etwas 

deutlicheren Uplift vertragen. Fakt aber ist: 

Andreas‘ Produktion hat dick gewonnen, 

sodass es eine Freude ist. Heißester Track:

Two years after »Foretaste« and Andreas 

Henning has finally served his main 

course. Not quite the simple euphoria, he 

releases one groove after the other and 

sends his motion-troops through a distinguished 

flow of charming practicality in 

the friendly realms of Tech, House, Electro, 

Trance and at the end, a dash of Disco. 

The Progressive-cool faction with Porsche 

brand glasses will love it although Mr and 

Mrs Softy could do with something more 

uplifting. Fact is though, Andreas‘ production 

is a success, making it a delight.

Nach dem traurigen Ende für Spiral Trax 

ist Dag Wallin nun bei Greg Coyle untergekommen 

und nutzt die Ehre und das 

Spielfeld des ersten Artist-Albums auf dem 

reanimierten Label Transient beachtlich: 

das erste Mal gibt es ein richtiges Album 

von Dag und nicht nur zwei aufgefüllte 

dicke Hits. Schöne Tracks für sentimentale 

Minuten, eine in sich geschlossene 

Geschichte aus Tribals, House, gutem 

Funk, manchmal etwas zuviel Acid - immer 

dann, wenn Dag wirklich ernsthaft werden 

will -, aber gücklicherweise auch reichlich 

von seinem wohlbekannten Weichbrei aus 

Lull und Lall. Schade nur, dass er seine 

Produktion nicht endlich mal dem Stand 

der Stunde anpasst. Die Schönheit seiner 

Musik lässt zwar drüber hinwegsehen, 

aber sicher nicht ewig. Hätte seine Musik 

mehr Glanz und Hub, könnte Human Blue 

locker in der Liga von FREq und Atmos 

herumspringen. 

After the unfortunate closure of Spiral 

Trax, Dag Wallin has now found a home 

at Greg Coyle‘s and has been given the 

honour and a free-hand to produce the 

first artist release on the newly revived 

Transient label. For once we get a proper 

album from Dag and not just a couple of 

phat padded out hits. Lovely tracks for 

sentimental moments - a self contained 

story of Tribal, House, good Funk, sometimes 

a little too much acid (when Dag‘s 

trying to be serious), but thankfully plenty 

of his well-known mashed melodies. It‘s 

just a pity that his production quality still 

doesn‘t live up to modern standards. The 

beauty of the music does overcome this, 

but it won‘t do forever. If his music had a 

little more sparkle and polish Human Blue 

could easily leap in to the same league as 

FREq and Atmos. (kai)

»Wiederbelebung« 

(Klang Spektrum) CD 

Tribal Techno Groove aus der Göttinger 

Schule. Schnörkellos minimal und doch 

packend inzeniert, merkt man beim 

Debütalbum von Christian Uhrland relativ 

schnell, dass Musik aus Göttingen immer 

etwas Krüger ist. Obwohl es sich um ein 

Debüt handelt, spürt man die Reife des 

Künstlers, die er am Ende mit einer verträumten 

Downbeatnummer krönt. 

Tribal Techno Groove from the Göttingen 

school of sound. Simple and minimal, yet 

powerfully gripping, you soon notice that 

this debut album from Christain Uhrland 

has had the Krüger touch. Despite it being 

a debut, you can sense the artist‘s maturity 

which he confirms with a Downbeat dream 

of a track at the end. (dlh)

Vier Jahre hat der Schaffensprozess zum 

neuen Album von Ovnimoon gedauert. 

Schließlich dauert es ja auch, acht Gastsänger, 

vom Rapper bis zur ausgebildeten 

Opernsängerin, sowie zahlreiche Gastmusiker 

ins Studio zu laden. Heraus kam ein 

mellow fließendes, in aller Melancholie 

optimistisches Album, aus dem immer 

wieder die vielen akustischen Instrumente 

herausragen. Geige und Akkordeon, 

Gitarre, Kontrabass, Schlagzeug und Flöte 

verweben sich mit Electronic, werden 

dubbig, mal abstrakt, manchmal melodisch, 

manchmal hypnotisch, teilweise 

wirkt es schon wie Filmmusik. Eine Reise 

durch TripHop, 

Chillout, Ambient 

und Lounge mit 

entspannten 

Grooves.

while to work with eight guest vocalists, 

ranging from rappers to trained opera 

singers as well as numerous other guest 

musicians as well. What they‘ve created is 

a mellow flowing, melancholic, optimistic

The violin, accordion, guitar, double bass, 

drum and flute intertwine themselves with 

Electronic sounds becoming dubby, and 

sometimes abstract, melodical and hyp-

notic, occasionally it could even work on 

a film score. A journey through TripHop, 

Chillout, Ambient and Lounge with relaxed

Auf Elektrolux‘ Elektrolabel Mikrolux kommt 

Iceman Jonas Thor Gudmundsson mit seinem 

fünften Album und sagt dazu: »Auch 

wenn einige Puristen 

da vielleicht anders 

urteilen mögen, 

sehe ich meine 

Musik als Elektro 

an, der schließlich 

stilistisch offener 

ist als nur die reine 

Kombination aus 808 und Vocoder. Wobei 

ich zugeben muss, dass die Natur meiner 

Heimat mit all ihren Bergen, Gletschern und 

Vulkanen unterbewusst eine deutlich organischer 

geprägte Sichtweise auf die Musik 

bedingt. Die Umwelt spielt meiner Meinung 

nach für Musiker schließlich eine nicht 

weniger wichtige Rolle als beispielsweise 

für einen Maler.« Das hat er schön gesagt 

und beschreibt dieses Album treffend, es 

ist ernsthaft UND schön; Ambientfreaks mit 

einer Neigung zu musikalischer Qualität, 

denen die Mikrolux-Releases oft zu trocken 

waren, sollten hiermit etwas Zeit für ihr 

»Elysium« investieren. 

From Elektrolux‘ Electro label Mikrolux we 

have Iceman Jonas Thor Gudmundsson 

with his fifth album to which he says »Even 

if some purists judge it to be something 

else, I see my music as Electro that happens 

to have a style that‘s open to more than just 

a combination of an 808 and a vocoder. 

I must admit, the fact that Nature with 

her hills, glaciers and volcanoes is my 

home means that there is a strong organic 

perspective to my music. In my opinion, the 

natural environment is no less important 

for a musician as say a painter.« Well said, 

and it describes this album perfectly, it is 

serious and lovely. Ambient- freaks with an 

addiction for musical quality who may have 

often found previous Mikrolux releases a 

little too dry should invest a little time in 

their own »Elysium«. (kai)

Die zwei wichtigsten Zutaten dieser CD 

sind viel Zeit und eine Menge Space. Zeit 

braucht auch Ihr für die Tracks, denn sie 

haben natürlich Namlooksche Dimensionen 

und somit ist der kurze Track auch nur 21 

Minuten lang. Zum gepflegten Abspacen 

eignet sich am besten »Millions Of Exits« 

– bei einigen der Sprachsamples dachte ich, 

sie wären an mich persönlich gerichtet.
