Dear Colleagues,
following the two very successful Symposiums that were
held in Greece, it is time for our next Symposium to take
place in Germany, in the town of Westerstede.
although Westerstede cannot offer the visitor the
sights of Kos, where we had the chance to admire the
birthplace of Hippocrates - the father of Medicine and
the asclepion, we will nevertheless have the chance
to experience innovations of live Surgeries by many
well-known surgeons and members of the G.D.G.U.
and upgrade the scientific program in order to create a Symposium, equally as
interesting.
I look forward to welcoming you in ammerland.
Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Anastasios Kollias
President of the G.D.G.U.
Dear Colleagues,
nach dem letztjährigen Symposium der Griechisch Deutschen
Gesellschaft für Urologie e.V. (GDGU) an historischer Stätte
Wolfgang Weidner
Präsidenten der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Urologie e.V.
Dear Colleagues and friends,
It is with great pleasure that, as representative of the Hellenic
Urological association, I extend a warm invitation to attend the
13th Symposium of the Greek-German Urological association
which will take place in Westertede, Germany from the 30th of
June until the 3rd of July 2010.
for the last twenty years Greek and German Urologists have
been organizing joint meetings in both countries. What is striking
looking back over the years is firstly, the warm relationship that
has developed and which has helped so much interaction among
the urologists in both countries and secondly, excellent scientific
programs.
This year the organizing committee has taken special care to arrange a scientific program
that covers most fields of Urology. There will be opportunity for discussion and exchange
of views regarding new technological development, treatment choices and the latest
surgical techniques. For the first time there will be a pre-congress program of live surgical
demonstrations. The operations will be done in hospital operating rooms and surgeons
and participants will have the opportunity to exchange views on all aspects of the
undergoing procedures.
We look forward to seeing you in ammerland at a meeting designed to respond to all
current challenges that urologists face in every-day practice.
V. Rombis
President of the Hellenic Urological association
Dear participants in the congress,
I welcome you to the conference of the Greek German
association for Urology in our beautiful city of Westerstede.
It is a great honour for our city to be the host for this important
conference for urology.
naturally the centre of your attention are the lectures about
the latest research results and the exchange of experiences
with your colleagues. In the field of medicine the progress and
new developments are especially fast. new therapies are being
proved, new operation methods developed, and every year new
medicines are being brought into the market. It is not easy to keep oneself up-do-date —
especially in a profession where every working day requires a lot of energy.
The working day of a doctor is full of new things. It is true that a fully crammed
conference programme requires the complete attention of the participants, but maybe
you will find some time — during the breaks or in the evening — to see something of
your conference venue.
Westerstede is distinguished by the unique flair of the garden and park scenery of the
Ammerland and offers a very high quality of life. The attractive location in a unique
cultural scenery, the dense cycle trails as well as the many possibilities for leisure time
leave their mark on the officially recognized recreation city of Westerstede. The cosy city
centre with its pedestrian zone invites a visit to some of the many hospitable cafés or
restaurants.
The Clinic Centre Westerstede as internationally recognized clinic in combination with
many practices for specialists in the municipal district and many other institutions which
support healing and rehab processes gave Westerstede the title of a “Health City in the
Greenery”.
You must get acquainted with our beautiful city of Westerstede. I wish all participants
in this congress an interesting conference with many expert conversations and a
comfortable stay in our city.
Klaus Groß
Mayor of Westerstede
