issue we hear from Anna Solic,
former TV designer now award
leader for TV and film set design,
at the University of Glamorgan.
she heralds the return of the
game show and what she feels is
the resurrection of Saturday
night television.
Saturday night has always been
television’s jewel in the crown, a
unique night when the whole
family, historically, gathered
around the television to be
entertained.
Public taste for entertainment
has changed over the last
decade, with more choice
available from pay-per-view,
games consoles, cinema,
cheaper DVD’s etc. so the shows
are ever changing to capture this
fickle audience.
Anna puts the genre into
historical perspective and how it
is time that light entertainment
and the game show genre was
given the industry credit it
deserves.
