Reynolds
Under a vibrantly colored
sunset on the evening of July 13,
2009, Sarah Roethlisberger’s life
changed forever when her boyfriend,
Daniel Reynolds, asked the one
question all girls anticipate the most,
“Will you marry me?” That night began
what would be an eleven month
process of busy planning in preparation
for the joyous occasion.
The couple met some time
ago when Sarah was working as a
student teacher at David’s school,
Sunset Middle. “We dated for about
two years,” Reynolds said.
David and Sarah decided on
the Owen Chapel in Brentwood, Tennessee
to be wed in. Reynolds said,
“We choose that house for its wonderful
history! The chapel was built
sometime in the 1850’s and both David
and I loved the feeling of getting
married in a vintage building.”
“For our honeymoon we
spent a week in Ashville, North
Carolina,” smiled Reynolds. “I had
always wanted to visit the Biltmore
Estates, but David was adamant that
we didn’t go. He questioned who
would even want to visit that place.”
With a laugh, “It’s funny because by
the time we were leaving, the Biltmore
was all he could talk about! He
loved it there.”
Brandi Williams Mangrum
For most students and faculty members, summer is a time
to relax, catch up on some much needed sleep, and soak up the
sun. For Brandi Williams, it was the busiest, most extravagant
three months of her life. Hundreds of students at Independence
High School know her as a committed health science teacher,
athletic trainer, and cheerleading coach. One would only wish
good things for this beloved teacher. On July 10, 2010, those
wishes came true when Brandi Williams would forever be known
as, Brandi Mangrum.
She married a man named Roy Mangrum, who had no
idea what he was getting into when he first met Williams. He
watched as hundreds of students crowded around her, coming
to her for advice and seeking guidance from her. He exclaimed
that he fell even more in love with her when he saw how much
the student body truly cares for her. It did not take him long to
realize this was the girl he has waited his entire life for, and he
proposed.
Mangrum has dreamt about this day her entire life, and
all those dreams are now coming true. “I’ve always wanted to
be married on the 50 yard line on the Alabama Football field,
but when I came to IHS, I fell in love with everything about
it.” Mangrum then decided to be married on the Independence
football field 50 yard line. Her dress was all white with a crimson
trim, and she walked out to the Alabama fight song. She had
three former Indy football players as her groomsmen, 3 former
athletes were ushers, 1 former cheerleader as a Maid of Honor,
and another former cheerleader as a bridesmaid. Mangrum chose
July 10 specifically because she wanted to be back in time for the
IHS football team’s 2 a-days. Brandi Mangrum will forever be
known as an amazing and committed part of the Independence
community and best wishes go out to her and her new husband.
Jennifer Rix Reynolds
For most, college is a time of learning and preparing for
the rest of our lives. For Reynolds, college was the place she
would meet her husband to be. Jennifer Reynolds is a freshman
biology teacher and the girls’ soccer coach. Before she
ever stepped foot into Independence, Reynolds was a student at
Belmont University. She played soccer at her college, and was
introduced to a young baseball player named Matthew Reynolds.
After the two meet, they started what would become a lifelong
relationship.
Six years later, the Christmas of 2009 became one Reynolds
will not soon forget. Jennifer’s boyfriend, Matthew Reynolds,
asked her to marry him under the Christmas tree in her
apartment on December 12, 2009. “I was so excited! My best
Christmas present for sure!” says Reynolds.
The couple’s wedding took place in Caramel, Indiana,
where Jennifer grew up. “I just wanted a small traditional wedding
with all of my family together,” said Reynolds. Months of
planning led up to a beautiful wedding on July 3, 2010. Having
75 guests to share the special day with, Jennifer and Matthew exchanged
vows in a local church. “My dress was white and fitted
with no straps!” smiled Reynolds.
Following the ceremony, guests resided at a city park for
the reception. “The reception was both indoors and outdoors.
Very beautiful!” raved Reynolds. The couple enjoyed Little Big
Town’s “Bring it on Home” to accompany them for their first
dance.
After a night filled with laughter and celebration, Matthew
and Jennifer headed off to South America for their honeymoon
getaway. “We traveled to River Maya, Mexico,” beamed
Reynolds. “It was a beautiful location for us. We loved it!”
