Annual Life Chain at St. Mary’s 

Sunday, January 20th from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. All over the nation 

people stand in defense of life and pray to end abortion in this country. 

Please join us. We provide the signs. You provide the witnessing. 

Holy Hour for Life 

An Hour of Prayer with Exposition of the Holy Eucharist on January 

20-21, the vigil of the National Day of Penance and Prayer. Come, 

spend an hour in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament praying for 

a consistent life ethic for all stages of life–from conception to natural 

death. Locations: January 20th at 6:00 PM: St. Mary, Kansasville/Dover. January 21st at 7:00 PM St. 

Alphonsus, New Munster, St. Clare, Wind Lake and St. James, Mukwonago. 

Respect Life Mass January 22nd at 7:00 PM with Rosary at 6:30 PM 

Archbishop Listecki will preside at the Archdiocese’s observance of the National Day of Penance and 

Prayer which will be held at St. Monica’s, Whitefish Bay. Seminarians will lead the Rosary for Life at 6:30 

PM. A reception will follow Mass. Come, pray in penance for violations to the dignity of the human person 

committed through acts of abortion and for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life.

A Message from Fr. Jim . . . 

On the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord 

The scripture readings for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord present Jesus to us as the “servant of God” 

foretold in the Book of Isaiah. He is the chosen one in whom God is well pleased. As God’s servant, Jesus 

will fulfill His mission with total commitment to the Father’s will in a show of humility before all people. 

It is at the Jordan River that Jesus is established “as a light for the nations,” to give sight to the blind and 

freedom to prisoners. Jesus is revealed in the waters of Baptism. In the Gospel account from St. Luke that 

we hear this weekend, as Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan River, the heavens are opened, the Spirit 

of God comes down on Christ as a dove and a voice - the Father’s - says: “You are my beloved Son; with 

you I am well pleased”. 

With this, what was foretold by the Prophet Isaiah is fulfilled. God’s favor rests on His servant, the 

Father’s favor for His eternal Son. Jesus has taken on human nature. In deep humility, He has asked John 

to baptize Him with water. Yet John the Baptist is only the one preparing the way for the Christ, the 

Messiah, and his Baptism of water is only a preparation for the Messiah’s coming - a preparation for grace. 

Jesus, the humble servant of God, brings grace and baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. This same gift 

has been given to each of us through the life giving waters of Baptism. As we recall the great encounter in 

the Jordan River between Jesus and John we should rejoice in the gifts of grace given to each of us and the 

transforming power of our own Baptism.

2013 Financial Stewardship Pledge Update 

Thank you to everyone who has already submitted 

their 2013 financial pledge cards. For those who 

have not done so, please remember that we are 

asking all pledge cards be returned, even if your 

pledge will remain the same. To date 447 of 1061 

families have returned their pledge cards. That is 

42.13%, with 65% of them pledging an increase in 

their pledge from last year.

A Message from St. Joseph Naggalama 

Thank you so much for your letters. A belated Merry 

Christmas and a Happy new year. It has been a very 

busy time for us. We prepared the Christians in Advent 

period and on Christmas day we celebrated 

Mass and services in all of our 26 sub-parishes. On 

26 December we baptized 82 children. Tomorrow 

we have children's Christmas parties. We will celebrate 

Mass, after which the children will have breakfast, 

games, watch Jesus of Nathrati film, lunch and 

entertainment. Yes the twinning committee has collected 

enough information for the projects for next 

year's Lenten collection. However we have not yet 

held the meeting. I will convene one as soon as we 

complete the new year's celebration. Then I will 

send you the final projects for next Lent. Thank you 

so much for all you are doing for St. Joseph parish. 

Greetings to all the parishioners and tell them that 

we love all you and we are praying for you always.

Catholic Central’s 28th Annual Topper Dinner and Auction/Car Raffle, 

held at the Vet’s Terrace on December 1st, was a SUPER success profiting 

close to $111,000! A maximum number of guests enjoyed a delicious 

array of hor d’oeuvres and a delicious dinner served by Zilli Hospitality 

Group. Over 240 items were auctioned off through silent and oral bids and 

included such items as: gourmet dinners, an Apple iPad3, a MacBook Pro 

Notebook, a Tandem Skydive for two, an Xbox 360, tuition credits, professional 

gaming equipment, services, furniture, pictures, sports tickets, parties, 

vacations and so much more!! The evening concluded with dancing to 

music provided by senior, Jeremy Kuta. The grand prize winner of the car 

raffle was Jacquelyn Seaver. 2nd through 8th prize winners were: Nick 

Wiemer, Robert Spitzer, Jack Siehoff, Donald Hildebrandt, Joeann and Jim

LIFE TEEN NEWS: Our next Life night will be next 

Sunday, Jan. 20th, starting with 5 p.m. Mass at St. 

Charles. CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES: Please 

remember that if you have not done so, you must 

turn in your retreat fee, permission slip and medical 

form at the Jan. 20 Life night. On the permission 

slip, you should write which retreat you have chosen. 

You have a choice of March 8 - 10 or March 15 

- 17. These forms are due Jan. 20th so we can finalize 

reservations for the retreats, which will be held at 

the TYME OUT center in Nashotah, Wisconsin. For 

all teens involved in Bible Study and Praise and 

Worship, we will meet Jan. 16, 23 and 30. If you

This summer's Youth Mission Trip will be to Booneville, 

AR in the Ozark Mountains June 15-June 22. 

Booneville is a small town of friendly, family-oriented 

people who struggle with low incomes and meeting 

basic needs. The trip is open to any teen, entering 

9th grade in the fall of 2013 thru freshman in college. 

Cost of the trip is $550(most of this can be 

earned through various fund raisers). Attend our 

informational meeting on Sunday, January 13 at 

10:30 AM at St. Joseph's in Lyons. For details on 

this life changing experience and a registration form

Chaperones are also needed for this trip. Chaperones
