INFORMATION BROCHURE FOR POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMMES UNDER
FACULTY COUNCIL OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY FOR THE SESSION 2009-10
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING-UP THE APPLICATION FORM (ONLINE)
1. The candidate can apply for M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch Courses – 2009 online
through the Jadavpur University webpage during the period from 23 rd March to 20 th
April, 2009.
Candidates are advised to download the Information Brochure and Pay-in-Slip of
State Bank of India for deposit of Application Fee. The mode of payment of
application fee of Rs.100/- for each course of study is to be deposited through any
branch of State Bank of India by filling up the Pay-in-slip. The Journal Number must
be legible in the pay-in-slip, which need to be used in Form & Other references. The
applicants are requested to keep the counterfoil of the deposit slip for future
reference. Candidates should carefully read the instructions given in the Information
Brochure before filling up the Application Form.
2. Applicants are also requested to keep copy of acknowledgement available online after
submission of Application for future reference.
3. The list of eligible candidates for admission test will be displayed on the University
website before the schedule date of admission test.
4. Applicants are requested to download their admit-card and to bring his/her admit card
after pasting the self attested recent photograph on the admit-card in the examination
hall.
5. In the case of non-received of Admit Card through online, the candidates whose name
has shown in the Jadavpur University website List of Admission Test/Interview are
advised to contact the Office of the Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. at least 3 days
before the respective date of admission test along with the Acknowledgement for
submission of application and Counter Foil of Fee Deposit Slip.
6. As per circular No. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-I , D.O.12017/11/89-
SCD(R.CELL) dt.08/01/1990 and letter No. 1510-SCW dt. 31/05/2007 from the
Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Persons of the
State other than West Bengal are not entitled to get benefits of the State for
SC/ST in Educational Institutions in West Bengal.
7. THE CANDIDATE ARE REQUESTED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING ATTESTED
DOCUMENTS ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION
TEST AND/OR INTERVIEW AND ALSO THE TIME OF ADMISSION TO THE
COURSE:
a) Admit Card and Score Card of GATE (if applicable).
b) Mark-sheet and Certificates from Secondary examination to Undergraduate
degree in Engineering or Postgraduate degree in Science/Arts courses and
GATE Score Card/Rank Card, Admit Card and Admit Card of Admission Test.
c) SC/ST Certificate issued by the Govt. of West Bengal, Physically Disable
Certificate and Family Income Certificate issued by the competent authority.
d) A ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer for 24 months for Sponsored
Category candidates.

8. THE CANDIDATE SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
a) Submit separate Application Form for Separate Course/s through online and
obtain separate receipt from S.B.I. with different journal number.
b) A candidate can not apply for more than 3 (three) Course of Study.
c) If applied for more than 3 courses, then all the applications are liable to be
cancelled.
d) Failure to appear at the Admission Test and Interview / Admission Test on the
specified date shall cancel his/her candidature without any further reference.
e) Registration of application does not confer any right of the applicant to be called for
admission test / interview.
f) The Admission Committee reserves the right of not selection any candidate who is
considered physically unfit or otherwise unsuitable.
g) All J.U. courses are not residential. Hostel seats are not guaranteed.
I. ELIGIBILITY FOR 4-SEMESTER P.G. COURSES IN
ENGG./TECH./ARCH./PHARM COURSES:
Category(A) – GATE/NET: Obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engg./Tech./ Pharm./Arch. Or
M.Sc./M.A. as given in the Schedule below with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PD) and
qualified through GATE/NET.
OR
Passed Membership/Associate Membership Examination in the appropriate discipline
conducted by all professional bodies, like Institution of Engineers (India)/Indian Institute of
Architects/Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers/ Institute of Electronics
Telecommunication Engineers etc. approved by Govt. of India, with at lest 60% marks in
aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PD) and qualified through GATE are eligible for admission for to
PG courses in Engg./Tech./Arch./Pharm. as GATE category candidates.
Category(B) – Sponsored: Obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engg./Tech./ Pharm./Arch or
M.Sc./M.A. as given in the Schedule below with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PD) &
Minimum 2 years experience after Bachelor’s degree also duly sponsored by Industry /
Institute/ Govt. Deptts.
Category(C) – Self-Sponsored: Obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engg./Tech./ Pharm./Arch or
M.Sc./M.A. as given in the Schedule below with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PD).
However, candidates who have appeared / are due to appear at the qualifying
examinations (B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm./M.Sc./ M.A./AMIE Sec. A & B / AIIA) may
also apply and such candidates, if selected, will be admitted if they can submit valid proof of
their passing the qualifying examination with required percentage of marks at the time of
Interview. If the results are awaited on the date of interview such selected candidates shall
have to submit the mark sheet of the qualifying examination within 3 months from the date of
commencement of 1 st semester classes failing which or if the candidate is found to be not
eligible in terms of percentage of marks obtained, his/her provisional admission will be
cancelled.

Admission Procedure for Master Degree Course on Multimedia Development:
An admission test covering the following aspects would be taken –
Part – I :- Computer knowledge in DOS, Windows, Word Processing Concepts,
BASIC or C. Analytical Reasoning abilities.
Part – II :- English Comprehension.

D) The candidates in the Selection List to be asked to get admitted in the
respective specialisation positively by 11.06.2009 failing which their selection
may be cancelled without further notice.
E) List of the vacant seats of each course will be displayed on 15.06.2009.
F) The Wait Listed Candidate will be asked to appear at F.E.T. Office on
16.06.2009 from 11 a.m. to 4-30 p.m. and put their signature according to their
preference against vacant seats, if any, for consider his/her name of different
courses and the 2 nd selection list of successful candidates will be displayed on
18.06.2009 at the F.E.T. Office as well as the University website.
G) Successful candidates of 2 nd Selection List will be ask to get themselves
admitted by 22.06.2009 failing which their selection may be treated as
cancelled.
H) List of the vacant seats of each course will be displayed on 24.06.2009.
I) The Wait Listed Candidate who had appeared on 16.06.2009 but not get
selected will be asked to appear at F.E.T. Office on 25.06.2009 from 11 a.m. to
4-30 p.m. and put his/her signature according to his/her preference for consider
his/her name against the existing vacancy of different courses and the 3 rd
Selection List of successful candidates will be displayed on 29.06.2009 at the
F.E.T. Office as well as University website.
J) Successful candidates of 3 rd Selection List will be asked to get themselves
admitted by 06.07.2009 failing which their selection may be treated as
cancelled.
K) First Semester Classes be commenced on 01.07.2009 (tentatively)
L) The Wait Listed Candidates who had appeared to the Faculty Council of Engg.
& Tech. Office on 25.06.2009 but not selected for admission, are asked to
report to the Principal Secretary, F.E.T., on the 30 th working day after date of
commencement of classes (i.e. 04.08.2009) for being considered his/her name
in the vacancies, if any, created due to withdrawal by the already admitted
candidates.
