MARINE DIESEL TECHNOLOGY: SHOW
Following the latest trends, Sauer motive systems with its more
than 60 years of engine experience represents those enterprises
that are causing sensations in the fields of main and auxiliary
drives as well as of on-board power generators, and that are
continuously providing proof of their engines and aggregates.
IVECO MOTORS
In the future, Fiat Power Train Technologies (FPT), with a production
output of 2,200,000 engines per year, one of the most innovative,
significant and outstanding companies in the world of
engines located in Pregnana Milanese/Italy.
GUASCOR
One of the noblest small engine shops and gearbox producers for
commercial shipping with its headquarters in Zumaia/Spain.
MASE
The on-board power generator manufacturer with the widest
product range and most versatile power generator program with
its domicile in Cesena/Italy.
The power output of the entire program of drive units and aggregates
for pleasure and commercial shipping represents a bandwidth
from 15 to 1,621 kW. These are all power units which have
been considerably optimized in terms of efficiency and torque
owing to the use of ultra-modern diesel technology, at the same
time having a reduced fuel consumption, thus giving less emission
of exhaust gases.
All engines have been certified in accordance with the IMO Marpol and
the ZKR Guidelines, Chapter 8a (ZKR = Central Committee for
Rhine Shipping).

NEW DIMENSIONS: DIESEL TECHN
IVECO MOTORS
While the well-tried, conventional 8000 engine series
is fading into the background step by step, the current
NEF, CURSOR and VECTOR series are now in the
focus of pleasure shipping.
This new generation of engines integrates a variety of
progressive diesel technologies, thus ensuring environment-friendly
and high-performance power units.
Modern four-valve technology, pump-nozzle and
common-rail injection systems of the second generation
as well as electronic engine management are
employed in this connection.
IVECO N40 ENT D 20
The technological developments made in terms of
power and torque allow for considerable power unit
optimization, which reduces both fuel and oil consumption
as well as noise and exhaust gas emission.
Compared with conventional engines, such power
units offer by far higher performance potentials, with
their weight and volume having been reduced at the
same time. Moreover, they meet current and future
exhaust gas emission requirements. The Vector 16
with its 1621 kW represents the final stage.
COMMON RAIL
The high-pressure injection technology
used in the VECTOR series works within
the range of 1,600 bar and contributes to
reducing fuel consumption and exhaust
gas emission.
MULTI TURBO
Owing to its dual-flow charging principle,
the dual turbocharger of the CURSOR 13
provides an elastic torque behaviour.

COMMERCIAL
TRADITION AND MODERN DESIGN: C
IVECO MOTORS – GUASCOR
Two engine concepts of different nature.
While IVECO MOTORS has dedicated to innovative diesel
technology and is pushing ahead the use of intelligent
engine management solutions, high-pressure
injection systems and ultra-modern production processes,
GUASCOR is going the conventional way.
GUASCOR refines and optimizes the traditional drive
engine, using approved multi-cylinder injection tech-

nology and, as IVECO MOTORS does, also meets the
requirements of the IMO Marpol and ZKR exhaust gas
emission standards. Also, both drives are available in
classified GL, RINA, DNV or other designs which are in
conformity with the regulations applicable to commercial
shipping.
The use of the different engine concepts by IVECO
and GUASCOR depends on the user's individual requirements
and on their respective applications.
PUMPE-DÜSE-EINHEIT
The CURSOR series high-pressure injection
is based on the pump-nozzle principle and
achieves optimized fuel consumption
and exhaust gas emission figures.
WARTUNGSZUGANG
The GUASCOR engine has maintenance
openings on either side, thus facilitating
better access.

ON-BOARD POWER SUPPLY
VARIOUS STRATEGIES: PERFECTLY
IVECO MOTORS – GUASCOR – MASE
Three different on-board power supply concepts, each
of them with its own intention.
With its on-board power generators, MASE mainly
covers pleasure shipping within the power range of
up to 66 kVA. Sound-insulated and extremely lownoise
systems with conventional engines and innovative
generator conceptions.
IVECO is going to extend the on-board power supply
sector up to a power range of 1,550 kVA for big
yachts and for commercial shipping. Power generators
as non-enclosed systems on the basis of the
MASE IS 6.5
technological up-to-date NEF, CURSOR and VECTOR
engines.
GUASCOR feels to keep obliged to its tradition to
deliver heavy-duty on-board power generators up to
1,275 kVA for continuous operation in commercial
shipping. Generator sets without sound insulation
and in conventional fashion in a maintenance-friendly
overall conception.
Upon request, the entire on-board power generator
program is available in any common classifications
and in accordance with the regulations applicable to
commercial shipping.
CRANKCASE VENTILATION
On the NEF 280, the crankcase ventilation
has been designed as a self-contained
separating system.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT
This electronic engine management keeps
control over the entire power unit economy
and is responsible for the engine parameters.

In partnership with IVECO Motors, GUASCOR and
MASE, Sauer motive systems has a German-wide
service network with more than 100 different locations.
Specifically skilled and trained personnel are in
action for qualified engine service in commercial and
pleasure shipping.
In cooperation with selected partners, the service
quality of the parent company in Dieburg is a circumstantial
evidence of yacht owners, marine shipping
offices, owners of passenger or river boats as well as
the fishing industry being convinced of drive units
from Sauer motive systems.
ENGINE OVERHAUL
Grinding and polishing a crankshaft is
the most delicate skill in engine overhauling.
ENGINE MODIFICATIONS
All modified drive units are subjected
to extensive engine test bench runs.
ENGINE SERVICE
The maintenance of stationary
systems is covered in the same way as
servicing mobile drive units.
