Date + denomination approved<br />

A variety denomination is considered to be approved at <strong>the</strong> date when PBR is granted.<br />

Application date<br />

The date is that when <strong>the</strong> Office received <strong>the</strong> application.<br />

Grant number<br />

For PBR <strong>the</strong> certificate number is given.<br />

On <strong>the</strong> old PBR Law (be<strong>for</strong>e November 1994) <strong>the</strong> certificates were numbered in<br />

chronological order <strong>for</strong> agricultural crops and chronological order <strong>for</strong> fruit crops.<br />

With <strong>the</strong> new PBR Law (November 3, 1994) <strong>the</strong> certificates are numbered in chronological<br />

order once a year (e.g. 19/1995; 8/1996).<br />

Start date grant<br />

Date on which PBR was granted. In general items and are <strong>the</strong> same.<br />

Applicant’s name<br />

The name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> person or company who filed <strong>the</strong> application.<br />

Breeder’s name<br />

Natural or juridical person.<br />

Title holder’s name<br />

The actual holder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> grant. It may be an individual or a company.<br />

O<strong>the</strong>r useful in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

On November 3, 1994, <strong>the</strong> Plant Variety Rights Law Act 1977 was replaced by <strong>the</strong> Plant<br />

Breeders Rights Law Act 1994.<br />

The Chilean PBR Law is applied to plant varieties <strong>of</strong> any botanical genus and species.<br />

At present Chile has a National List only <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> most important agricultural crops.
