Date + denomination approved
A variety denomination is considered to be approved at the date when PBR is granted.
Application date
The date is that when the Office received the application.
Grant number
For PBR the certificate number is given.
On the old PBR Law (before November 1994) the certificates were numbered in
chronological order for agricultural crops and chronological order for fruit crops.
With the new PBR Law (November 3, 1994) the certificates are numbered in chronological
order once a year (e.g. 19/1995; 8/1996).
Start date grant
Date on which PBR was granted. In general items and are the same.
Applicant’s name
The name of the person or company who filed the application.
Breeder’s name
Natural or juridical person.
Title holder’s name
The actual holder of the grant. It may be an individual or a company.
Other useful information
On November 3, 1994, the Plant Variety Rights Law Act 1977 was replaced by the Plant
Breeders Rights Law Act 1994.
The Chilean PBR Law is applied to plant varieties of any botanical genus and species.
At present Chile has a National List only for the most important agricultural crops.
